It gives you a super intense work-out and I always feel so stressful and relaxed after (even if I dread coming here sometimes after a long, hard day). The teachers/employees here are super nice and they will walk you through everything. The students that join the classes are also very welcoming. Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and do not be afraid to ask questions and push your limit. They're all supportive and they want to push you to succeed. They won't make you do more that you can't. Definitely give this place a try if you're trying to look for some fun way to work out! P.S., they have classes for kids too. I always see kids having a blast and leaving this place happy.

Previously I wrote on my experience on the Muay Thai classes I have been taking with Kru Keith Forant and I still go to every class I can. Currently Coed Muay Thai is offered Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays with the addition of a ladies only class on Wednesday and Friday. I have learned so much and I can feel my body becoming leaner and stronger with the cardio that Muay Thai offers. I have also been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for about under 2 months and this is something I do not regret starting up. BJJ is taught by blackbelt Joshua Ketry and he was born to teach as I fell in love with BJJ after my first class. BJJ is offered Monday - Thursday and Saturday mornings. BJJ is a ground type of martials arts that deals with a lot of grappling to defend yourself against an attacker. The idea is that a smaller, weaker, person can defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, person by using techniques to achieve submissions by chokes and locks. I take all the classes as I feel incredibly empowered as a female to learn something that can help me if I ever find myself in a situation that would call for my BJJ training. The instructors are top notch and the students are there to learn and help other students achieve the same thing there are, to be better than you were yesterday. I highly recommend checking out BUMA if you are looking to get into Muay Thai, BJJ or Judo whether it be for bullying, defense or just an amazing work out.

It's definitely a tough form of exercise, whips you in shape. But it's limited in a sense. You go from station to station and in half hour you're all done. You've got cardio plus weight training in one. Great time saver. That's a plus. Down side. Very small, cramped area. I didn't feel comfortable. You're surrounded by other folks sweating but is not a group exercise. It's more like "parallel play" in childhood developmental talk LOL. Each kid in the room is doing his own thing, at his own station, but no interaction. Costly. Membership was nearly $700-1K for a year. Plus in the already cramped exercise area, the owner's dog was roaming near the members working out. Unhygienic. This world has literally gone to the dogs! I mean really, no kidding. I ended up joining LA fitness. More traditional gym, variety of choices - group classes, equipment, weights, cycling, swimming/ aqua exercise etc. Membership for a year under $400. Established in the 1970s,…read morethe family who has owned and operated this place have been practicing judo since they were very young. Kin-Tora is rather unique, in that it is run in the style of a club, as opposed to a for-profit dojo. As well as judo, Kin-Tora also offers three other styles: Danzan-ryu Jujutsu, Ryukyu kempo, and Wadokai aikido. There are judo classes for both children and adults. The other three styles are more geared towards those 18 and older; however, the aikido class will take teen students (15 and up) with the head instructor's permission. There is also a gym room on the upstairs level with striking bags, a variety of weights, treadmills, and ellipticals. Kin-Tora is probably the most affordable martial arts center in WNY, given that it is only $85 a month, and that fee grants you access to the entire facility, and you may also take as many classes as you would like. They will gladly allow you to try a class for free to see if it something you would wish to further pursue; there are no contracts, no pressure to "sign on the dotted line." They also offer gi (uniform) rentals for $2 per class for those who don't wish to purchase their own uniform, or for those who just want to try a class or two. They also have uniforms for purchase on site at only $45 for a complete set, and they are of extremely high quality. What's best is that everyone at Kin-Tora is extremely kind, welcoming, and encouraging. It doesn't matter if you have 20 years of martial arts experience or none, all skill levels are welcome.
