Parking: big free lot outside. Always a plus! First impression: visually, the office is very outdated and old-looking. I was initially taken aback when I arrived, because I have never been to an office that looked like this before. I had pretty low expectations because of this. The chairs in the waiting room are ripped up on the bottoms, so the material is sagging down to the floor. Decor is minimal inside, and it is stuffy and has no natural light. Same for the exam rooms in the back. The technology (exam chair, moveable lights, etc) look like they are all older than me! Dentist: I was seen by Dr. Stanley Lin, D.D.S. Right from the beginning, he was extremely polite and personable. He easily built great rapport and was thorough with my exam and cleaning. I felt immediately at ease and the appointment went by quickly. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Lin, just know that the office is not the most visually appealing one!

Thirty days ago, I scheduled new patient appointments online for both my spouse and myself. I received an email confirmation at the time of booking, followed by an automated reminder shortly before the appointment date. When I arrived--on time--for the first of the two appointments, I was informed that I was not on the schedule at all. The receptionist initially asked whether I might be at the wrong location. I showed her the confirmation email from their own online booking system, at which point she acknowledged that their online scheduling system does not work. This is not disclosed anywhere on their website, and the system presents itself as fully functional: accepting appointments, sending confirmations, and issuing reminders, creating a reasonable expectation that the appointment has been properly recorded. While the receptionist was courteous and apologetic and did reschedule me, a more serious concern arose during intake. When intake questions began, I asked whether the forms I had already completed online, including extensive personal, insurance, and medical history information, were available in my chart. I was told no, because the website does not track or transmit that information to the office. At that point, I had to stop the process. The intake forms required the upload of significant amounts of personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI): data that is protected under both federal and Texas law. The staff could not tell me: where that information is stored, whether it was transmitted securely, who has access to it, or whether it is retained, audited, or properly safeguarded at all. Given these uncertainties, I formally requested that a manager and/or the organization's privacy officer contact me. When an organization invites patients to submit legally protected data through its systems, it has a legal obligation to know where that data resides and how it is protected. Failing to do so raises serious concerns about privacy compliance and patient trust. This review reflects concern, not hostility, and I am hoping the organization takes this feedback seriously, addresses the operational and privacy gaps, and demonstrates compliance with applicable law so this review can be updated accordingly.

In December, I had a consultation for Invisalign and was quoted approximately $5,000 (paid in full, no insurance involved). During that consultation, I specifically asked whether whitening treatment could be included in the cost. After checking with the office, the dentist confirmed that it could. Near the end of my treatment, I asked about the whitening treatment and was given take-home whitening gel. This was not what I understood to be included, so I later texted the dentist to clarify. He acknowledged the misunderstanding and agreed to provide an in-office treatment at a future appointment. At the next appointment, I received what the office described as a short "maintenance" whitening treatment. When I explained again that I had expected a full in-office whitening treatment, I was told that the treatment I was referring to normally costs around $700 and could only be offered to me at half price. My frustration is not about the cost of whitening itself -- it's that I specifically asked whether whitening treatment (not a maintenance one) could be included before agreeing to move forward with Invisalign, and I was told yes. I raised the issue multiple times and do not feel it was ever meaningfully resolved. What was especially frustrating is that even the reduced "maintenance" whitening treatment the office claimed they originally intended to provide was never consistently followed through on. At my final retainer appointment, there was no mention of whitening at all despite the prior discussions and assurances. The Invisalign results themselves turned out well, but I was disappointed by how this situation was handled and by the lack of accountability regarding what had originally been agreed upon. They didn't pressure me into scheduling the additional treatments they recommended, which I really appreciate. When I needed a night guard for my grinding issue, they helped me navigate the insurance reimbursement process. Their in-office system is very systemic. The team pages each other to coordinate patient flow, and you can tell they have their processes down to a science. It has a polished, corporate feel but without losing the personal touch. Hello, I'm sorry to…read moremake this review of a doctor at this establishment, and honestly, the office as a whole at this point. I came here in early 2019, and later in this last year, the service done here caused me further injury. For some background, I received a full mouth rehabilitation in another country, Istanbul, and it went sour. The way my row of teeth was positioned caused TMJ symptoms and strained muscles. I didn't trust them to go back to them to fix it, hell, as of six months later, they had erased my info anyway. When I visited Balcones Family Dental in October 2024, I had already gotten four teeth replaced from my full mouth rehab and one root canal, and was showing slight TMJ symptoms. When Christopher Glecos agreed to work on me, he offered an occlusal equilibration to straighten my bite. I should have vetted harder, because I had no idea he was then taking online classes for the thing I was asking for. At the time, my mouth has already been through a lot, and the process of strengthening my bite required more professional diligence than what I received. Doctor Glecos wanted to start fresh and not look at any of my background on the matter. I did give my info anyway, a told him I was going to see a chiropractor for my TMJ. At the time, I thought it would be enough, but I was wrong. Knowing now, I needed Physical Therapy and a specialist trained in TMJ symptoms. Even with all the background I gave him, he was still willing to do the occlusal equilibration even though his experience was green in the matter, and if he had thought otherwise, I'd have been referred to someone else. There's no way one would take on a complicated situation as mine if one was still only taking online classes for it... I explained that my goals were to address bite instability by identifying problem areas and finding a good course of action. For me, this meant combing through the teeth and seeing which ones were hitting harder and by how much, and then considering new crowns for those problem areas. Dr. Glecos described using 'slits of paper' to relax the bite and then find out where in the mouth my teeth were misaligned or hitting first. At no time did we discuss making irreversible adjustments to the bite. I was under the impression that we would take measurements of the teeth to see which ones needed attention. The time came for measurements, after the 'slits of paper' method, he started altering the bite with a bur. I did not expect the procedure to begin at that time, as I believed we were still in the evaluation phase. I allowed it since he had already started grinding at the bite, placing my trust in him. After several sessions, eventually I woke up with new symptoms. Nerve pain was shooting down my legs, and muscle strain, and eventually a chronic sinus infection. When expressing these symptoms on the day I was receiving my night guard, I was told to go to a general physician, and the dentist wasn't even going to be called in until I notified the ladies at the front desk. During the examination, Dr. Glecos stated he did not see any issues and offered to make additional adjustments. Given the new symptoms, I declined further alteration. He then indicated there was little else he could do. When I described the symptoms as nerve-related, I was told that adjustments were made on crowns rather than natural teeth and therefore, should not cause nerve symptoms. It was concluded that my symptoms were 'Underlying issues'... I feel the possibility of nerve issues can arise from a destabilized bite around the jaw joint. My TMJ issues were a focal point in our consultation, and I hoped for a more thorough evaluation or referral. For my symptoms, pain was traveling down my leg, my feet, my chest, and through my throat. Never in two places at once, but present every day. This altered the way I walked, and numbness could be felt in my left hand, and eventually, a rapid amount of aging was taking place. Facial deformations started to form under my eyes from a chronic sinus infection. This infection has been plaguing me since the occlusal adjustment. Tinnitus was sounding loudly from my right ear, the side with the TMJ issue. Also, there were medical reports given of these symptoms as well. Afterwards, I went to many other professionals and specialists seeking a root cause. These things usually take time; referrals have to be shipped out from my General Doctor, and acquiring an appointment within three months' time for some of these places was rare. My symptoms were getting better in some areas, but also getting worse. On a return visit six months later for a cleaning (I continued to work with them and report my symptoms), I was finally referred to a prosthodontist to check my bite. The hygienist at the time actually pushed the issue of seeing a specialist right away for a suspected collapsed bite. Given the timing of my symptoms, I am concerned that an earlier referral may have allowed for a timely assessment. I did

I learned a lot about my teeth both times. The problem lies in that they do not contract with any insurance company, therefore you will always be covered at the out-of-network rate. This is frustrating for patients, but is understandable from the practice's perspective. When you make this decision, however, your front-office needs to be very good at letting people know exactly how much they're going to owe out of pocket. It is possible for them to call your insurance company, tell them what codes they'll likely claim, and get an amount covered back. Twice I asked them to do this, and twice they told me how much I'd owe out of pocket after the visit. Both times they WILDLY missed the mark, to the tune of over $100 per visit. This also happened with my children. After they visited, my wife said they mislead or understated our responsibility (perhaps on purpose) to get us in the door as new patients. We hadn't discussed it until I brought up my experience after the fact. Two customers with the same experience in the same house. Hmmmmm.... My family of four has now found another dentist who a) contracts with our insurance, and b) was able to tell us our responsibility ahead of time, to the penny. I was told the small filling, which took only a few minutes, would be done at no charge, but I was ultimately billed hundreds of dollars. I am now seeing another dentist to repair and replace the dental work, which is costing me a fortune. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Nussbaum. I gave him one star only because zero isn't an option.

I reached out to the owner of the practice and she called me back and apologized for how things happened and even offered to do the x-rays for free. I think this is my third or fourth time back for adjustments since I got a bottom denture from AFD. They are so accommodating and kind. They keep going until it is working for you. I loved my previous dentist and was loyal to him but we relocated to Austin a little less than a year ago and so we can't go to Huntington Beach for cleanings anymore. No problem this women run business has all the cool tech and amazing client care I have come to adore and they have amazing bedside manner. I appreciate that your first appointment is thoroughly checking your baseline and you can see over your next cleanings what progress needs to be made and they track it for you. They have the coolest 3D imagery technology too. I also had my teeth whitened (over $1000) for my wedding and it whitened my teeth 2 -2 &1/2 levels which made a difference in the close up pictures! Because of them I'm more motivated to floss because I want to improve my progress! They are also incredible about trying to respect your time and schedule you if you have an emergency. (Individual results may vary but found them to be very accommodating)
