We started to experience granule loss on our roof that was installed in late 2005. That roof came with a 30-year warranty, but it didn't survive more than 18 years. I wanted to file a warranty claim, but the manufacturer required me to pull out a shingle as a sample, which I hesitated to do so. I don't know any lay person would be willing to pull out a shingle with some simple instructions. Even most handymen I talked to hesitated to take on such a job. When I was still figuring out what to do with the roof warranty, a big storm came to accelerate my re-roofing project. We got a leak on the roof, and the water came into our attic, and then our master closet. Yikes! I realized that I had to re-roof as soon as possible, so I decided to hire a roofer who could help me with the warranty claim. I got some recommendations from my neighbors, colleagues, and friends, and I started to call around. Rock Roofing wasn't on the list of the recommendations. However, because of that big storm, one highly recommended roofer declined to come to give me an estimate as they had got too much work, so they referred me to Rock Roofing. Colt at Rock Roofing was amazing. When I explained to him what I needed to file a warranty claim, he just volunteered to help without getting my promise to sign the contract. He then went ahead to pull out a shingle for me, and he also tarped the roof to protect my roof from the rain. When he was measuring my roof, he was able to identify the leak and just repaired on that spot. To be honest, when he told me that he had fixed the leak, I was skeptical. I also had other roofers come to give me estimates, but most of them couldn't even tell what caused the leak, so how could Colt identify the cause and fix easily?! It turned out that he did fix the leak. Before he came, we had a funnel system to direct the water from the roof to a big barrel. We always got lots of rain in the barrel. Since he came, we didn't get any more water in the barrel. Colt also helped me take many necessary photos for the warranty claim. Because my old roofing contract didn't specify the size of the roof, and the aerial roofing measurement didn't work due to the surrounding tall trees, Colt drew a roof sketch with detailed measurements for me to present to the manufacturer, who accepted the sketch and processed my warranty claim. He even did all these things during his vacation time. I really appreciated his assistances and efforts. I got total 4 bids for my roof. By comparing the same materials, Rock Roofing's price was the lowest. I normally don't take the lowest bid, because sometimes low bid just means low quality of work or poor customer services. I reviewed the contract closely and asked many questions. Colt was very patient with me, and he responded to my questions quickly. His explanation was very clear and easy to understand. Later I came to Yelp and realized that Colt had been highly praised in many reviews. Therefore, I decided to move forward with Rock Roofing. During the roofing process, the workers arrived on time and cleaned up after work. The work was completed on schedule. The next day after the work complete, one Rock Roofing staff came to do a thorough clean up, including the moss on my driveway. Colt came to walk me through the work to make sure that I was satisfied with every detail, and he also explained to me how the roofing system worked. But Kenny replied with courtesy to each one promptly and thoroughly. After viewing samples from three different companies, we decided on DaVinci Roofscapes' engineered, composite shakes. It looked the most like our original thick, cedar, hand-split shakes that we'd had for decades. We wanted it so badly we were willing to wait out the 22 week lead time from the manufacturer. That meant it would put us smack in the middle of a Northwest winter when they arrived. I was super worried about a very worn roof being exposed to the elements any longer and installing a new roof in wind, rain and cold. Getting quotes is overwhelming as each company pushes different shingles and different installation products. There were hard-sells, soft-sells and take-it-or leave it sells. Then came Azapro, we found them on the GAF shingles website as certified installers which gave us a level of comfort. We are not the easiest of customers but the owner, Abad, remained focused on answering all our questions, changing the quotes and keeping us convinced that they were the team we had to go with. And we were right in choosing them. Not to say that there were no glitches, yes there were glitches. The first job took over 2 weeks to complete mostly due to the skylights not being ordered in time or correctly but eventually job one was completed. Job two ended up being way more expensive than quoted due entirely to the number of boards that needed to be replaced. We were shown the old boards and they were soaked through due to the known failure of Certainteed shingles on our 17 year old roof. The team installed netting over all our garden to protect our plants before they started tearing off our roof. Only one pot plant was broken during the entire 2 day job. The team of 4 roofers work incredibly hard for long hours to complete the job. The clean-up was done amazingly well, the roof looks great, they even realigned our gutters so that they flow more freely. After reviewing all three quotes, we decided to go with Clay. Eagle was competitive in their pricing so the mutual friend certainly helped to obtain our business. Clay was also helpful by providing other business contacts for a few other projects that we have lined up. Once we accepted the roof bid, purchasing the material secured our deal. Roofing material was delivered by the materials supplier. The actual roofing job was scheduled during a block of decent weather and took two days to complete. Clay himself came afterwards to do the inspection of workmanship and site clean-up. We paid the remaining balance with our Discover card without any additional fees (many other companies add a surcharge for credit cards) upon job completion. My wife and I are happy with the customer service and workmanship provided by Eagle and will choose Eagle in the future for other home needs.
