We waited over an hour for our appetizers & it was just bad fried food. I think the computer may be broken tonight, they seem to be struggling. Terrible slow service & unimpressed with our waiters suggestion of what was good. Don't do the arancini (mini suppli) it was awful. Now waiting on more food, we are losing hope that it will be any better. It's also miserably hot even though they promised AC inside. read more

We were in Rome for two nights at the end of a cruise, and the girl at the front desk at our hotel recommended this wonderful little restaurant. It's located just a block or two from the Piazza Navona. This became our go-to restaurant. We had the same server each time, by coincidence, and she was just wonderful--always busy but very attentive. We had pizza and lasanga and loved them both. I think my favorite thing about this restaurant was how authentic it felt, which is what the girl at the hotel said about it. I'll definitely recomment it to my friends if they're in Rome. read more

Great pizza! My boyfriend and I ate here on our first night in Rome. We loved eating outside but it was scary a few times when a taxi or car came zooming down the narrow corridor! Be prepared. Otherwise kit was good and service was nice and attentive. Pizza was delicious and there were plenty to choose from. read more

The food wasn't the best, the only thing I enjoyed was the soup. The soups are salty, and I'm one of those people who likes things over salted, but we had to ask the waitress to bring a spoon. The soup had the taste like it came from a can... My friend ordered the pizza, and it was plain, without taste, but then again I only like really strong foods. The salmon tartare was super fatty, but it came with strawberries (fresh and yummy). The lasagna was a total disappointment, it was basically layers of dough with cheese in between (but I did like the tomato sauce that came with it.) The waitress was friendly, and the service was so-so, but I don't like the food. Would I come back here again? No Would I recommend this place to others? This place a block away from the Piazza Navona (my favorite place in Rome) was a lot of fun for dinner for our extended family of 9 including an 11 month old. It was recommended by our hotel concierge for dinner on our first night after arriving from the US and the pizza was great and the staff very friendly. Will go back on our next visit. read more

I wouldn't normally rate a place this poorly, but the number of good reviews from years ago on here warrant a refresh: Avoid this place. I watched the male waiters turn away several non-white parties (letting one get as far as a table before tacking on a promise that food was more expensive than listed on the menu that night for some reason). What the hell? Food: The pastas and risotto were overly cooked and the seafood smelled off. We actually came to this place because they had a funny sign shading the nearby restaurant for showing off what their food looked like at their entrance, but that attitude is a lot less funny when it's coming from your waiter. Save yourself the disappointment and eat across the street. read more

Being kind of tired of Italian food, I wasn't expecting the best. However, I was pleasantly surprised when my lamb dish came and was perfectly seasoned. The pesto pasta was VERY al dente, maybe too much- BUT that sauce was amazing!! great meal, wish we would have ordered another dish! read more

We couldn't decide which bruschetta to order so the waiter brought a plate with all of them! Also had Niçoise salad, spinach salad, rigatoni carbonara, and eggplant calzone. Maria the chef is wonderful. We took a cooking tour booked through Viator. My wife and I were invited in to make pasta and ravioli and Maria made the tiramisu and bruschetta. I'm glad I stopped in here for lunch on a rainy afternoon. The staff was very friendly, and the food and wine was outstanding. I was impressed by the house red, and the gnocchi with ragu bolognese was wonderful. My only slight complaint was the loud music when I first arrived, but either they turned it down or I just got used to it, because it didn't end up affecting my meal. I may have to come back here for breakfast before Ieave Rome, as their pastry case looks incredible, and they are open all day! read more

Day 5 in Rome and we decided to try this place out. Had a bucatini pasta dish with tomato sauce, pecorino cheese and "Roman bacon" which I guess may be the same thing as pancetta. Very tasty food and friendly (but slow) service. The tips was already added to the bill when we got it and it was quite a bit more than I would have left, had I had the choice. This place is worth visiting for the food, but I do lower the rating by 1 star due to the dirty tablecloths (I'm talking small stains of bird poop) and the slow service. read more

We were in Rome for 12 days. We dined at the very impressive Mastro Ciccia seven times. They have a great menu. Everything we ordered was good. They also have a huge wine selection. Everyone made us feel welcome each time (Martell, Gabriel, and the restaurant owners). Their best quality of food and their first-class customer service are the two qualities that all restaurants should emulate. We have recommended our families and friends to dine at Mastro Ciccia when in Rome. We look forward to dining with them again in the near future. Got a Groupon for this on our last evening in Rome, when I walked in I was disappointed by what I saw, it looked like greasy tourist trap pasta, not what was advertised. Then after showing them the Groupon, we were turned away,with only "no, not tonight" as an explanation! the waitstaff were generally rude about the whole thing. Loved the interior setting -- cool (air conditioner), simple but thoughtful, colorful decor. Service was fast and solicitous. Friendly too. Here is what was eaten for a late lunch: Niçoise salad, buffalo mozzarella salad, fried mozzarella bites, cheese pizza, chicken breast. Pizza was above average, salads were fresh and slightly above average. Bites were very good. Chicken was super tasty and tender. Bottled water was below average. Prices were perfect for the food. Conclusion: for what it claims to be it deserves a 3.5 or a 4 depending on how hungry you are. read more
