Had a great time tonight. Wednesday is open mic for Comedy. Open Mic in the sense the MC had 8 to 10 comedians give a 5 to 10 minute routine. No Cover charge. Plus played pool before and after. I had buffalo hot wings which were tasty. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. read more

Made a google review but word limit wouldn't let me fully describe how bad our first experience here was... Came to eat here with my fiancé after playing a few machines in the casino and we were confused by the entrance. No hostess or signs saying to either seat yourself or wait to be seated so we stood confused and waited for almost 10 minutes - didn't want to seat ourselves and potentially mess up a servers station which is why we stood and waited for that long. Signs or something would be good for first time customers... Numerous waiters walked right by us and definitely seen us but did not greet us or let us know where we should sit, not even smile at us. It was not a busy night with a lot of patrons so it felt a bit ignorant to not even acknowledge our presence in the slightest. The bar is right next to the entrance and the bartender who was wiping glasses FACING US with only 1 man at the bar, didn't even try to help us or acknowledge us either. The man sitting at the bar told us to just walk in and get a table - so a CUSTOMER had to acknowledge us and let us know we could seat ourselves. Super cold and unwelcoming first impression, but we were hungry and interested in trying the food so we sat ourselves. We ordered a drink each to start from our waitress - a beer and cocktail. Our waitress, along with the other staff, was too busy gossiping all together in the corner to notice the bartender finished making our drinks so we seen our drinks just sitting on the bar counter for 10 minutes out in open accessible to anyone! Which is absolutely not okay, considering anybody could have walked by and spiked our drinks, especially if we weren't seated where we could see them. Just generally a dangerous practice as they were unattended, out in the open for anybody to do anything with. I ended up having to get up and grab our drinks and serve ourselves.... where's my tip lol? Our server was still too busy gossiping with her coworkers and never brought us any water, thankfully one waitress walked by our table and we had to wave to ask for some water. Generally one of the first things you are served at restaurants is water, regardless of if you are ordering any drinks besides water. Water was served lukewarm (and drinking lukewarm water is... just lukewarm itself) with 0 ice. Our waitress finally finishes her gossip sesh and takes our order after another 10 mins of waiting. We decide we don't even want to sit around in this place any longer because the service was below subpar, so we skip any main meals and order only appetizers. We ordered the Calamari and Wings. The wings were quite nice except our server did not bring any cutlery, napkins, or wet wipes to the table so after finishing, we had to go to the bathroom to wash our hands. Even fast food places will give you wet wipes, or at the very least, NAPKINS.... The calamari was absolutely gross. Teeny little pieces no bigger than a thumbnail put on the plate with a bigger serving of just the deep fried coating crumbs - FOR $17! It was not deep fried properly so they were just soggy little bits of squid we had to pinch with our fingers. Opa's serves a better calamari for $10, and compared to here, it seems gourmet. Our waitress was MIA and never even checked on us again for the entire duration of our meal. No water refills, offering another drink, or asking how everything is. When we did see her walking around, it seemed she was purposefully avoiding our table. Either that or maybe she really was that oblivious. We are in no means bad guests at any restaurant we go to, even when the service is terrible as we have an understanding of working in this industry so i'm not sure what that was about. Even though we were frustrated, we never displayed it in our tone of voice or body language towards her or the other waitress who served our waters. It was late so I understand if maybe she was tired or something, but it's just not okay to purposely ignore us - considering we were the only table she was serving. It felt cold. Flagged her down after 15 minutes of sitting there with dirty dishes on our table to ask for the check and left; dissatisfied and actually quite appalled at the experience. Easily the worst service we have ever had, we got better service from the bar in the casino area, which was super busy. Literally never coming back, it was actually quite shocking. To make guests feel so uninvited and ignored and have them SERVE THEMSELVES because the staff are like background NPC's is absolutely a joke. This place would be better off turning into a buffet, seeing as you have to serve yourself. At least that way, you could make sure to grab yourself some napkins and cutlery lol. read more

Good central location restaurant with ok food and good service. Got the double smash burger. It was ok but not exceptional. Came with "dirty" fries that were just ok. Cold and not crispy. Overall almost a 5/10? read more

Met a friend for lunch. Sat on the patio, very nice. Very prompt service. Had the so and Fish Taco Special. Very good. Good came very fast. Or server was a sweetie. Good menu, lots to choose from. And not too busy or noisey. read more

Out and about this afternoon, looking for photo ops or at least telling myself I am. My growling stomach however told me that perhaps I should sit a spell first and have some lunch. Being that I was downtown and parked near the waterfront it seemed like checking out the new place, Match Eatery & Public House in the Playtime Casino (adjacent to the Delta Grand Hotel), would be a good choice. I sauntered in just after 12 Noon. In the Casino are a couple facilities to eat, maybe more. My choice was the new pub just off the upper gaming floor. I walked in and at first thought I missed a "Wait to be Seated" sign but a server quickly approached me and said I could sit (almost) wherever I wanted to. A buffet was being prepared so my seating choices were somewhat limited, however there were many larger (bar height) tables and a number of booths still free. I easily found a table by the roll-up doors to the outside however and sat myself. The inside of the Eatery is nicely appointed and welcoming, warm yet cool decor if that makes any sense. Lots of wood on the walls with windows and/or roll-up doors facing Prospera Place. I found later that these are for creating that 'open to outside' feel. There is lots of outside light in the pub, which I like. I ordered a Stanley Park Pale Ale to start. It appears they have 10-12 beers on tap with an extensive hard drinks list. I chose a fish/chips to eat, usually a safe choice and a dish that allows me to compare to a degree. A standard if you will. With the fish & chips came the obligatory lemon, coleslaw, which is yummy, french fries and dips of ketchup and (house?) tartar sauce. The presentation was good and the food came quickly and was very tasty. My server did a good job of tending to me and was quite gregarious. The server and everyone else were very friendly, perhaps too friendly, and it made me wonder if they know what I was up to. I know there are cameras everywhere and security is apparent. Wouldn't surprise me they were/are looking over my shoulder and checking out my actions. Numerous employees stopped or passed by with a 'hello'. I thought of taking photos of the food but for me it isn't a priority, food is often just food and most dishes look much alike. Instead I asked about taking photos inside the pub of things I saw as interesting. The hostess didn't know but went to find out. A few moments later a couple more official employees came by to ask my intentions. They stated that no photos of the gaming floor, patrons, or security cameras could be taken, but most other things in the eatery could be photographed with prior notice to the server. Interesting, and certainly their call. I was a bit surprised when the bill came. I didn't really think my beer should be $7 but I guess in some of the higher end establishments that's what it is. C'est la vie. The fish & chips was just under $16 so that's not too far off the mark. We always pay for the atmosphere! Match has a great menu..and the French fry dip is totally addictive.Burger was great and the margarita pizza was tasty. Went on a Thursday and played rock and roll trivia with a super host who made the game so much fun!! Buckets of beer were a great price. read more

This restaurant has a live Dj at night so if you don't like loud music while you're eating it's not the place for you. As far as the food it was your typical bar food. I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars because of the service I experienced while visiting the restaurant. For example, I asked the waiter not once but twice to bring ranch for my pizza and he forgot. Then when I spoke to the manager, she gave me half off of the pizza but still charged me for the ranch that I didn't even get to use. I am the kind of person who likes to have my appetizer dishes taken away and have the table cleared before I start my main course and I was finding that the waiters at this location were just letting the dishes pile up on the table. I had to actually ask them to remove them so that I had more room and could eat comfortably. I've been to other Match locations such as the one in Langley BC and had a better experience. read more

Service sucks. Came in when almost empty at 2 pm on Easter Sunday. Server expressionless. She literally had me at one table and a couple at a table next to me. That's it! Forgot lime I requested with my drink. Glass sat empty and I tried everything short of standing on my head to get her attention for a refill but it was like she was purposely ignoring me. Disappeared for long stretches. I actually went ip to bar myself and got my own. When she brought my veggie sandwich it was made wrong. Not toasted and with an extra ingredient that wasn't on the menu (like thousand island dressing or something). She askes me if I want them to remake it. No apology or anything. I was visiting from out of town, and my friend and I were having a great time downtown. We decided to check out the Playtime Casino, since neither of us had been there before (I'm from Kelowna, but now live in Calgary). We happened to arrive at the same time as two young guys who were there to see the rest of their bachelor party. Unbeknownst to us, that party was in the process of being kicked out due to being too drunk or whatever. The place was pretty empty, and the party didn't seem very unruly. My friend and I were promptly asked to follow the waitress, who walked us right through the restaurant...AND OUT THE BACK DOOR. We had been escorted out because they assumed we were with the other party. Extremely rude. You'd think they'd want some business since no one was there, and that they would check to confirm we were not with the bachelor party (BACHELOR PARTY. WE ARE TWO WOMEN.) Never again. read more

Not sure why not many reviews thus far and of the 3 before my leaving one just now there is a low rating but we had a nice time last night. Good music, half decent service and very nicely presented food that was tasty and fresh. The pizza was one of very best ever and that says a lot as I really know my pizza and was a nice surprise on taste and quality. One suggestion please...if you ask for a change of channels on sports as just highlights on and soccer...why NOT just take that time to do that...? Was zero busy in there too! Then would maybe be a 5 star. I even asked again and was ignored again...sighs. I find that in Kelowna it is HORRID on public venues paying any attention to what is on for sports! One star is too many for this place. They're ill prepared, leave their patrons waiting for ages before they're even acknowledged, much less seated, the wait staff is extremely rude & even a glass of water is beyond their capabilities. Do yourself a favour & give it a wide berth! read more
