Sommer is the best at cutting your hair! She is a master with shears-if you don't want a generic fade, make an appointment with her.

Anyway I met a friend for lunch and complimented his noticeably sharp fresh haircut, and he convinced me to go see his "hair wizard" Emi. I walked in fairly certain I was about to spend more money for the same haircut I get from Sportclips, but was pleasantly surprised at the whole experience. At the front I was greeted and checked in and immediately offered an ice cold beer which garners points in my book. Emi came over and introduced herself and showed me the changing room where you get to leave your shirt on a hanger and wear one of their t-shirts during the haircut so you don't leave being microneedled by tiny hair clippings. Haircut started with a detailed back and forth about my hair and what I was looking for which felt better than the usual "what you want" from the budget shops. Emi offered what she called a "moment of relaxation" where she used essential oil and gives you a shoulder and neck massage before starting the haircut. 10/10 highly recommend doing this it feels great and doesn't cost extra. The actual haircut was very good, like I said I've never really cared about how my hair looked as long as it's not in my face, but I was quite impressed. It was very sharp, technically perfect, and now I'm spoiled by this whole thing. I can't recommend Emi and this shop enough, every man should give this a shot, even if you're like i was and thought this kind of thing was unnecessary. Turned a haircut from a chore into an enjoyable experience with great conversation.

They offer you a shirt to change into and a drink on arrival - extra incentive to show up early and relax before an appointment. Their website works well, booking/adjusting appointments and viewing your haircut packages (which is a good way to save some money) are easy. Emi is the consummate professional. Her work is so consistent - I don't need to say anything when I come in, or check my hair afterwards - I have complete trust. Her neck and shoulder massage and hair wash are so good, they alone are worth the visit. I never feel rushed, her work is always very detailed, and she always sends me back to work nice and clean. On top of everything else, Emi is great company - our conversations are always organic.Definitely spoil yourself with a visit to Kempt and book with Emi if you can. Arrive early to find parking if you have an appointment during lunch at the Irvine location.

Stonecreek Plaza Barber Shop - Daughter cutting her long hair (self choice). That's a genuine smile too!

Every barber in the shop knows exactly what they're doing, and the whole place has a welcoming, top-tier neighborhood vibe. That being said, Tina is my absolute go-to! Her attention to detail is completely unmatched. She takes the time to make sure every blend is seamless, every line is perfectly sharp, and the cut is exactly what I envisioned. Tina is a true artist who takes massive pride in her craft, and she's just fantastic to chat with while you're in the chair. It's rare to find a shop where everyone is great, but even rarer to find a barber as skilled as Tina. If you want to look sharp and feel like a million bucks, this is the place to go. Huge thanks to Tina and the whole crew! Do yourself a favor, make an appointment. Walk-ins ok but might be a wait.

*EDIT* The owner…read morereplied to me and "explained" their actions by giving me some excuse about a rotation and gaslighting me about what I heard coming from Nancy all while calling their Mexican barber, Isaac, slow and inexperienced before her PR training kicked in and deleted THAT response - replacing it with the generic one you now see here. (I know their names because she included it in the response she originally wrote) *END EDIT* Ok, to be fair, my husband and son are happy with their haircuts. The older woman who was working in there (I assume the owner) was very sweet; she offered peanuts to my daughter so she can feed the squirrel outside! The slightly younger woman who actually cut my husband and son's hair? RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. The second we walked up to the barber shop, she was outside walking in and I could hear she was already offended by us. I heard her mutter under her breath "de cho thang me lam di" which means "I should let the Mexican guy work on them" but in a very disparaging tone. As if she's too good to cut our hair so she's gonna let "the Mexican" handle it...so why didn't she let him? Oh yeah, he was busy...everyone in the shop was busy but her. Against my better judgement, we stayed anyway because of my desperation for haircuts...but we are never coming back! As one Vietnamese woman to another, we need to do better. We are never beating the allegations if you are going to continue to perpetuate a stereotype of people feeling like they are being talked about in a salon if that's all you know how to do. Also, don't rent out stations and profit off Mexicans if that's how you really feel.

I will keep this short because I am not saying anything new that others have already said about Elaine. I am merely posting to share my appreciation for a quality haircut from a quality individual. Prior to coming here, I had the same stylist for 30 years. I feel fortunate to finally found someone that I can trust just as much as my previous stylist. Maybe it's the similar background, but feels like I've been going here for years when it's only been about a couple of months. wishing you all the best and hope to continue coming here for years to come.

Elaine is located in the Sola Salons at Culver and Irvine Center, so convenient location for me living in Irvine. I was impressed by Elaine's professionalism to her art, whether it came down to the hair style, the choice of items to use to spice up my hair when it was done, and the optional ear and nose wax removal, which I did for the first time and highly recommend! All in all Elaine ended up using the entire hour with me, so compared to those places where you are in and out in 15 minutes, I definitely appreciated her attention to detail. Needless to say highly recommend!

I clearly asked for a low taper fade and even showed a TikTok example photo to make sure we were on the same page. Unfortunately, that's not what we got at all. Instead of a low taper, my son ended up with a very high fade taken all the way down to the skin. There was no smooth transition or blending -- it doesn't fade into anything. It looks harsh and uneven, nothing like the example we provided. What was even more disappointing was the lack of accountability. It clearly did not resemble the photo we showed, yet there was no apology or acknowledgment from Jestina. No effort to make it right. That was honestly the worst part -- the customer service. To make matters worse, my son has been bullied all week at school because of this haircut. He's been called names and has said he doesn't even want to go to school. After growing his hair out for months and being excited about this cut, his confidence has completely taken a hit. As a parent, that's heartbreaking. Even the receptionist in the front apologized and acknowledged that it was a bad haircut from Jestina he gave me 50% off and gave me his recommendation of Luis the barber at Floyd's to fix it for free. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
