It was a really disappointing experience. There was an even today. I attended the event because I've been looking for a dining set and thought it might be a good opportunity to find something I like. However, things took a turn when an Asian man approached me and asked if I was planning to buy anything. I don't know if he is the manager or not. If he is, I don't think he is qualify. I wasn't sure yet and told him I wanted to browse. To my surprise, he responded by saying that if I intended to purchase something, he would need to assign a salesperson to accompany me. First of all it's been a year and my chair broke, called insurance and they stated it doesn't cover the legs breaking, Only scratches and cosmetic things!! Another update... 5/6/21- I was told that my sofa had been delayed yet again. This time it was supposed to be received by May 16th...that's 2021. 5/14 - Oh, sorry, it's been delayed to June 27, 2021 6/17 - It will be received in the store the week of June 20th, we will call you to arrange delivery. 6/25 - Yeah, no. It is in a container on the water somewhere and might be received in the store by the 3rd week of July. Funny, when I purchased the sofa ON MARCH 11, 2021, I was told that it was manufactured in Victorville, CA. so someone took a heck of a wrong turn if it's sitting in a container ship! My sales person said he'd make sure it didn't auto renew but I know better and made sure to check myself. I am not a huge fan of leaving one star reviews on companies pages but I have never experienced such bad customer service. I have given the company many many opportunities to speak with me directly about the problem but they refused to communicate with me. We recently purchased a new home and had the arduous task for furnishing a home in a pandemic. We have been very patient with the wait times and the delay. I understand that due to the pandemic many factories are working short staffed or were shut completely. Even more so, it is clear people were out remodeling/buying new furniture. My partner and I were well aware of this fact when shopping with Mathis. But my experience with this company goes beyond a short delay. I eyed a beautiful couch in the store in October. The date of return stated clearly on the couch that it would return 12/13. We purchased the couch in November and was given a delivery estimate date of 12/20. We understood the waiting process since the couch clearly stated it wouldn't be in stock until 12/13. We even expected that we likely would not get it before Christmas. When 12/20 came around no couch, no communication from Mathis. We called many times to discover that our sales associate left the company. We understood that must be way we never got any new updates. We got a new date of mid January. Again the time came, no phone call, no updates. We had to again reach out and no one could really explain why the long delay. We finally received our couch early February. We have called multiple times to ask to speak to the general manager. They take your phone number but never call you back. We understood the waiting process. But we did not like how the lack of communication on the business end was handled. We could have purchased a custom couch with that timeline. The furniture quality was great and beautiful. The only downside is the pillows. They are very flat for the price of the couch. But the look of the couch was Exactly what I wanted. This is why I went back to look for a coffee table. I was waiting to get the couches to pull a trigger. We found one we really liked and started talking to a nice sales lady. As this was a repeat purchase, I asked for any type of discount due to the issues with the delay. Other competitors, like Ashley Furniture, did not hesitate to offer a discount due to back ordered furniture. The floor manager refused to offer any discount and did not even have the decency of speaking to us directly. The sales women was nice and actually trying to help. She was able to convince her manager to offer to send us a gift card to use and purchase the table. We never received anything or any phone calls. I am completely shocked that they would treat repeat customers in this manner!!!!! Please don't say you are going to send a gift card and never follow up. It appears that the business cares about taking your money and leaves you out to dry after that. I would NEVER purchase from them again nor recommend anyone to shop there. No matter how nice of quality items are, you have to treat your guests with respect. I have never even had the opportunity to speak with a manager to clear any problems with the company despite my multiple attempts. That's why I felt the need to leave this review. Full disclosure: we have not purchased anything from this furniture store. They have a massive selection and a huge facility. It is clean, and the layout is well organized. Pricing seems really good in general. Since we live in NorCal we haven't made a purchase, but if we lived in SoCal I'm sure we would have. The store has commissioned salespeople which always gives me a weird feeling. I'd rather browse on my own and ask someone if I have a question. When salespeople sneak up on you it's uncomfortable. I was on the fence about two stars because part of my problem here was partly my complacency. My wife and I bought a beautiful bedroom set a year ago. The agent helping us was nice and helpful and he suggested that we could apply for a credit line there with 12 months interest free. We planned to pay the totals of roughly $4,800 within a year but life threw a few curve balls and we only got half way at the year mark. Then the other shoe dropped. Our balance went from $2600 to $4250 because there was a hidden catch. If you did not pay it in full within a year you would be charged 30% from the day you bought it!!!! My wife and I were in the market for new bedroom furniture. We checked all of our local spots and were less than impressed. After seeing a Mathis Brothers commercial we looked on their website and saw several options that we liked. So I made the most 2 hour trek out to Mathis Home and was greeted by Carlos. I was immediately impressed with the selection and quality of the furniture being sold by Mathis Brothers. Carlos was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. After spending sometime, I found the set we wanted however I wasn't sure if it would fit in our space. Carlos was understanding and not pushy at all. I left without purchasing but knowing exactly what I wanted. After confirming the pieces we wanted would fit in our space, I went back to the showroom later in the week. Unfortunately Carlos was off that day but I was still able to communicate with him via cellphone. He had set me up with David at the showroom and had already gone over everything I wanted. When I got there David was equally as friendly and helpful. Already knowing what we wanted he had the order all prepared. Carlos and David were able to get me a great price on the set we wanted. Signed, paid and got a delivery date for a week later. Couldn't have been easier. The delivery guys were great also! They showed up on time and were very professional. BEWARE! This company fails to deliver furniture in a timely manner. My wife and I ordered a sectional couch back on 9/22/23. The sales man Rick promised us a 6-8 week lead time (because it's a local vendor in Fullerton). LIES! Even their Sales Manager Benjamin confirmed with us that he lied about the lead time. Every time we have called back to see the status of our couch, we either get hung up on or lied to by Benjamin on when the new delivery date will be. We called in November and he promised the end of December. I called today (12/29/23) and he said 1/15/23 is the delivery date (+3 days of delivery time). On top of all that, they have the nerve to add a $69 pillow onto our bill that we didn't even order (probably thinking we wouldn't see it and just pay for it anyways). I can't deny the huge selection they have but I just hate the car salesman stalker vibe from the hundreds of sales people they have. Sometimes I want to look without being bothered. So we found someone else who was the same person who helped us 14 years ago! Yes we've had the bedroom furniture that long and it's still nice. The prices are decent, financing options are good (1year no interest), selection is vast. The delivery for some items was delayed a lot. I got my dinning chairs but no table for 4 months! I also don't like how they push the furniture coverage and rewards membership. You have to be careful when you check out that they don't add it when you didn't want it. Upon delivery, the 2 guys bringing in the furniture put it in place and we're about to leave when I looked at the furniture noticing a damage on the front corner. I purchased a matching leather electric loveseat, and two couches in one purchase along with Mathis brothers suggested additional protection plan with their ProtectAll plan. For years, I have been buying all my furniture through Mathis brothers in all this furniture was all high-end furniture. We started to see deterioration in the leather and the quality of the manufacturing of this furniture with the leather and the structure. We reached out to Mathis brothers and they Request requested us to utilize their All protection plan. This all protection plan has been a nightmare. Our loveseat, headrest leather started flicking off, and we put in a claim back in September of last year. It took six months for all protection to finally provide us with a full Reimbursement. In the meantime, our sofa ended up having the same issue in the headrest in the same approximate location.. We put in a claim with. ProtectAll Request for Documents: Claim 1232255 in addition, the frame was breaking on the other sofa and all protection that previously approved the loveseat denied our request for replacement. We spent a ton of money, not only for the sofas, but also for this protection plan that Mathis brothers recommends and pushes. Come to find out the sofas are made in China. Period I find it difficult that such a large company doesn't back up their product with this type of extended warranty product. read more

If I have give negative star, I will. Buying furniture from Mathis gives me more headache than remodeling my house. My purchase was $10,000 so I don't think it's a small order. But I can't believe what I had to go through. On the first delivery day, I got a call saying the table top is damaged so they can only deliver the dining chairs and the base of the table top. I have no idea why they separate the dining table and the base; it not like you can just one part of the dining table. Also, the hardware for the dining table is missing. They rescheduled the table top to be delivered on the same day of my sectional couch the following week and I made sure they know that they need to bring the hardware with them. On that day, the table top DID NOT come. Worse, the sectional that I order is ivory, but a grey set came along with an ivory swivel chair. Now, the sectional couch set is in different color. I asked if they can take away the grey one while I wait for the ivory, they said they can't take away unless it is on the same day of the exchange. The re-ordering of the ivory can take up to 8-12 weeks. At this point, I was already very frustrated and I gave up on the re-order while having a huge unopened set of couch in the middle of my entrance inside the house. They informed me that they can take it away only if I do a return. As such, I decided to just return it and get a refund. I arrange for them to come a few days later to pick up the wrong color sectional couch along with the swivel chair while they bring my the table top that was missing from the first delivery attempt. Finally, the table top came but it was still missing the hardware. Due to the number of mistakes they've made, I myself went to Ace Hardware and bought the hardware myself. The elite team came and installed it using the hardware I purchased. As I thought it's all done and over on that day they picked up the return and delivered the table top. Nope, I was wrong. I called a few days later to check on my refund. They now told me the credit from the return is applied to a sales order that I specifically told them I am only returning, not reordering !!!! LOL I can't even believe they can still manage to make mistakes. I finally get to talk to an office manager and he was working with me to get the refunds. The refund amount he calculated is about $100 off. Plus I realized they overcharged $75 on sales tax. At this point, I am not even sure if I am willing to dispute this $175 with them. I purchased two couches and a loveseat on May 7, 2024. They were delivered yesterday. The upholstery and workmanship are extremely shoddy. I took pictures right away and took them to customer service. They agreed that the defects were unacceptable. My complaint is I don't understand why you require a customer to pay a 10% restocking fee and an additional pickup fee for faulty products. It wasn't that I simply didn't like them. They were defective. This is the fault of your company/furniture manufacturer. Not mine. I realize you offer an exchange, which is what I ended up doing, but I'm not happy about it. It felt forced. If I exchanged, the charges for restocking and picking up would be waived. After reading reviews here, I wish I had just paid it and gone somewhere else. I will never purchase from your company again. I'm just hoping the new furniture I selected is at least decent. I don't have a lot of faith. TL;DR If you are considering buying any furniture, bedding, or home items then please DO NOT shop at Mathis Home, particularly in Ontario, CA. They'll sell you junk, won't care, and it'll cost you quite a lot to be treated that way. We tried to buy our daughter a new bed but upon delivery, pieces were missing, the instructions were missing, and a small bookshelf was not even delivered (despite confirming it would be via phone the prior day). After getting the runaround on the phone, we decided to just return the bed set and be done with Mathis for good (especially after the issues we have had in the past). While in the customer service office we noticed this framed picture of Mathis Home's Customer Expectation. We thought about letting it go and simply never shopping there again, but seeing that they display "Accuracy: Get things right the first time" and "The customer receives the products ordered" got under our skin. Neither had happened. Under Initiave: "Anticipate needs and take steps to meet or exceed them" and "Initiate service so the customer doesn't have to follow-up with a service provider." Again, neither happened. IN FACT, we were told that we were the 4th customer to call about missing items for this bed set. They set an appointment up for more than 3 weeks out for a repairman to come fix drawers in a brand new dresser that do not work. After waiting weeks, no one showed up to fix the dresser. I called and the lady who answered said it would be faster to schedule an exchange as opposed to scheduling a repairman. So, she scheduled an exchange for that Friday. Again, the day came, and no delivery arrived. After 2 missed and ignored appointments by them, I again text and call them to find out what is going on. Now, they say they don't know anything about my situation, but they will have someone "reach out to me". I waited all day yesterday for a response from them and received nothing. By now, I've had to file a dispute with my credit card and I looked on the BBB website to see if they have done this to other people, and to my surprise, they have countless complaints filed against them. Their word is no good. I really feel, looking back, that they never had any intention of making good on their scheduled appointments. Rather, I feel this is part of their business practice of stringing people along and hoping they will go away in the sunset. Please see my screenshot of BBB information. By the way, I found it very strange while initially purchasing my dresser in the store, the salesman was not the least bit interested in selling me anything, and was not enthused about his job at all. He was so lazy that when he wrote up my paperwork, he didn't even bother to write my last name on it. I expressed interest in wanting to purchase other furniture, and since he was not interested in selling me anything, I visited the store a 2nd time and chose a different salesman to sell me some end tables. He also was not enthused about the transaction at all, and left me with some lady to complete the paperwork. I was thinking for some strange reason that they would thank me for my business.
