Jake was extremely patient with us, as we literally walked the entire store nearly twice trying to find the right pieces of furniture for our home. Just today we called to order more furniture and within minutes, he responded with photos of the items we were looking for, sent us the invoice and placed the order. I'll be honest, the reason why I like Jake was because he wasn't there to only sell us furniture. He cared about what we were purchasing and made sure we made the right decision. Sorry but the experience was horrible. I wish I can give zero stars. We waited the 20 weeks and we followed the process for delivery. But Val and Fernando state "its some elses fault" and now we are not getting our sofa set on Sat but 4 days later. Val explanation is that someone else didnt do their job. To be honest Mathis Brothers didnt do its job. Mathis Bros failure to follow through is a Mathis Brothers problem. We need our sofa set this weekend. Our sofa set delivered last weekend. Do not spend your money at this store unless you are ok with terrible accountability and customer service! Ruben Diaz was a great salesperson to work with and out furniture is beautiful. Beyond those two things, Mathis has been an awful company to work with. In 12/2020 we spent ~$15k+ in custom furniture. We were told to enroll in the rewards plan because we would already have about $1900 in credit, so we did. We knew it would take a while to get the furniture due to COVID . We received a call that our furniture arrived in 07/2021. We were so excited but when they arrived to deliver it, we were told then that the couch arm was missing so they could only deliver the loveseat. We had already gotten rid of our old furniture! I called Ruben and he arranged to have a loaner couch delivered. We finally received our couch in 04/2022, damaged and missing the battery pack we paid extra for. 16 mos later! After at least 6 calls we received the battery and some fabric to fix the sofa. Thankfully the damage is internal (it is a sleeper) but NEVER did we ever receive a follow up call on what to do with it. I also asked several times how Matthis planned to make it right that the couch took an additional 9 mos. They would never commit to any type of stipend for all of the trouble. Now, I find out that my membership was never renewed automatically like the email I rec'd said it would be and I have spoken to 3 people and it is still not resolved. And guess what, our $1900 in our rewards account has disappeared. It seems as though Mathis is all about taking our hard earned $$ but not about customer service or fixing their mistakes. read more

Always been happy with several purchases we have made with Mathis Brothers. However, DO NOT purchase any power recliners. They tell you the extended warranty you purchase covers everything for 5 years. We spent $1200.00 on a leather power recliner a year and a half ago and all of a sudden stopped working. Called customer service and was asked to email a picture of the recliner and was told a technician would be calling me yesterday with a time to come out today. After no call, I called Mathis Brothers back and was told no technician would be coming out because our warranty only covers one year on the power. Would've been nice if they would've let me know so I wasn't waiting around all day. I then was told I'm pretty much $&@? out of luck and would have to pay for the repairs on our own and also gave me the number to GBS warranty department and was told to ask for a refund on the $549 we payed for the warranty since we didn't use it. I call GBS and was told that YES my warranty does cover the power issue for 5 years and they will be sending a technician out. How frustrated I am with Mathis Brothers customer service. She showed us multiple couches since we were very indecisive. She gave us the freedom to look around with out the pressure of buying. Every single piece I bought from them broke and I called a total of 42 times before giving up, the last two times I did talk to someone they told me I had returned the furniture already which didn't make sense because why would I be calling?? They sent someone out to take pictures and inspect the things that needed to be done and said they will be in contact with me expect I never heard back after a month of waiting I was calling multiple times daily only to be forwarded to a full voicemail and told that was the manager for the insurances line. I paid 2k for the insurance and was promised my tables would get a protection added to it only to realize I was being told anything to get me to pay more. We were looking for a recliner for my mother in law who has special needs and were annoyed to find that in some cases, it would take up to a year to find something that was suitable for her needs in the color that we were looking for. We were helped by Lawrence Jenkins, who we immediately clicked with, who wasn't pushy, but polite and professional, and helped us in our endeavor. He listened intently to my needs and immediately showed me exactly what I wanted. I needed things for the bedroom, dining, and living areas. My mother purchased a table last year (2020). Called and asked for them to be exchanged as there were some scratches and we anticipated the table to be of low quality, at that point. We were approved an exchange, fortunately, and then a couple months later, when we were to exchange the table and pick out a new one, we were told we waited too long (Customer Service Dept - and I have all the names of people I spoke with). I fully understand all of this... IF, you would have called and let us know we have to return NOW or by a certain date; we would have been grateful for that information and complied. My mother is elderly and wanted to get her 2nd vaccine before entering the store - we never knew we had to return immediately.... Mathis should have advised us of a time frame; if we didn't meet the deadline, then it's our own doing and our loss. A courtesy call, at a minimum, would have resolved all our issues. That would have been the professional thing to do and we wouldn't be in this situation. This is a big lack of customer service, in all facets. I strongly suggest Mathis be more customer-service oriented and come through with their promises, especially with all the set backs due to COVID. read more

Their service department is absolute garbage. My recliner broke in the open position. They gave me the number to their contracted repair company JR REPAIR. I left multiple messages and never heard back. I then called Mathis bros again. They were able to contact JR within seconds . JR sent a technician to disconnect the motor so recliner would lower. Technician left and said that Mathis would be contacting me in a couple days. Fast forward to 3 weeks later. I never heard from Mathis until I called them. The woman I spoke with(claiming to be a manager) stated that my part was on order. That it could take up to 16 weeks to get it in . Please don't purchase the extended warranty. What a terrible experience. We went through a nightmare of an experience trying to rectify our defective mattress situation. We worked with Jake Gutierrez, who was extremely nice and knowledgeable, but kept giving us hollow promise after hollow promise when it came time to exchange the mattress. We ordered a Casper Wave Hybrid mattress end of December and it was delivered a couple days later. After letting it "unpack" and expand for 24 hours, we noticed the corners were deformed and did not fully expand. I contacted Jake and he told me to contact Mattress Services within Mathis Brothers. Long story short, I called Mattress Services and they told me to get lost. They didn't care at all about my situation or the mattress. They also stated they do not honor the manufacturers warranty. They refused to help me in any way. No return and no exchange. Casper comes with a manufacturers warranty and also comes with a 100 night money back guarantee (which Mathis Brothers has advertisements for next to the Casper Beds AND Jake also sent me a picture of the advertisement saying 100 night Casper guarantee). Mathis Brothers refused to do anything with the mattress. Jake said he was going to take care of it and get it exchanged. 3 weeks later, with almost daily texts and calls back and forth between him and I, still no exchange. He would call me every couple days saying they were setting up the exchange and he was working with his manager on making it right, then nothing. After 4 weeks I finally said enough is enough and asked to talk to the GM. I was first told he was "busy" every time I tried calling in and then later was told he would not talk to me and he would not help me. I was told the GMs name was Fred Gorman and he was a "very busy man". I called Casper directly to see what they could do. They acknowledged that Mathis Brothers should 100% honor the manufacturers warranty and they did not understand why they were refusing. After speaker with a couple different Casper reps, they emailed Mathis Brothers directly and also called the store directly on my behalf. Apparently their email was never responded to and the customer service rep at the store who took the call from Mathis Brothers said they could not help them. We were now at week 5 with no resolution. Mathis Brothers called me and said they'd exchange the mattress, but that it's not on sale anymore so I would have to pay the difference and I would also have to pay a processing/service fee. They said the difference in the sale price and the service fee would total to $650! Keep in mind this is already a $3,000 mattress. I absolutely lost my mind. I refused to pay any more for a defective mattress. At week 6 I filed a fraud claim through my credit card company. I gave all the details, including texts and pictures and emails, of what happened with Mathis Brothers. It took an additional 5, yes FIVE, weeks for Mathis Brothers to respond to my credit card company. On the 4th week I was told by my bank they had one more week to respond and on the literal last day they responded to the fraud claim. They still refused to honor the warranty. After some more back and forth with the bank and them, they agreed to come pickup and refund the mattress (not exchange, just straight return). It took a total of 13 weeks to finally get any type of resolution and it literally took me filing a fraud claim through my bank to have them do anything at all. They picked up and refunded the mattress and I purchased a new one through Casper directly. Absolute worst customer service. I was literally told over 10 times by Jake that it was going to be exchanged, and then absolutely nothing happened. Once they have your money, they don't care. Be very careful and always remember you can file a claim with your bank if they do not honor their contractual obligations. read more

Come to find out that not only did GBS not fulfill their end of the warranty, but Mathis is still charging us for the warranty that in GBS's eyes is no longer valid. The absolute WORST store. Look at the fact that over 1k reviews have been marked as not recommended and all are 1 star. My parents ordered a custom couch and it fell apart immediately. After every visit, it would break again. When COVID hit, no one could come out. I got ahold of Cora and she asked me to send photos over to her of the areas damaged and I did. I sent photos, videos, and descriptions of what was happening. Never heard a peep from her. I called back and got a hold of Tina who has been the most helpful out of everyone. My parents are trying their best to avoid legal action, due to being given a faulty couch, but Mathis Brothers has made it impossible not to. They went as far as deleting my moms account with them, when she never missed a payment and made all payments on time, because of how many times we've called to try to get an answer to this. This store is an actual scam and there's not one good thing about it. We will be going to local news stations, BBB, and getting a lawyer. read more

My elderly mother purchased two chairs in early May at the Irvine Mathis Brothers location. We were told the chairs would arrive within two weeks. She had one chair delivered a four weeks after. My husband and I ordered a custom couch and paid for half up front in March. After contacting them several times regarding an ETA, we had been informed that we would receive an email and the couch would be delivered in August. Mid August, my husband contacted the store since we had not received any word on the ETA. We were then told our order had not even been submitted to the designer. I recently purchased a bedroom set (Hooker brand) at Mathis Brothers. It was a little pricey, but my wife absolutely loved it. After it was delivered, I noticed it was missing a button on the headboard. I called immediately and submitted photos. I waited two days (never heard back from customer service). I called back (today) and spoke to a very nice and helpful employee "Tori" I asked if I could just replace the headboard because it looked like a machine pressed the buttons in the headboard and I was concerned it might look weird after the repair. She said that wouldn't be a problem. I would have to wait on the replacement since it was coming from Oklahoma. She said it looks like the exchange could happen at the end of the month (3-weeks away). I'll update this review when it comes in. I just wanted to give a shout out to Tori in customer service for making things right for me. March 9...The delivery of our furniture was a complete failure. We paid for delivery of our recliners and the delivery people DID NOT want to deliver the furniture into our single story home. They just left the furniture outside by the front door. Totally unacceptable. A**holes UPDATE After a pissed off call or two, original drivers came back with a bad attitude and did what they were supposed to do. Customer Service apologized "for the mix up". I shouldnt have to be pissed off and get on the phone to have the job done right in the first place. Double attached recliners were left still wrapped in plastic and the 4 feet were not even attached to the furniture. Even the power cord were not even attached to wherever they go. We were told our "delivery fee" didn't include setup. What the heck? We never agreed to a drop off and run delivery like this. When you go to a furniture store, you want that product as in the showroom, not a build it yourself project. He called me the next day to ask if I had any additional questions. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated his knowledge loyalty to the other salesperson I did make sure Hector Martinez got credit. It was very frustrating knowing he had to share credit with other salesperson that didn't do anything. Yesterday was my one weekiversary of moving out to my new apartment, so I've been on the hunt for the perfect couch! I made the drive from Corona with my Pops to check out the furniture stores in the area and found the holy grail of (expensive) furniture at Mathis Brothers. While I'm on a budget, I'm a firm believer that everyday furniture, such as a couch, should be one of your better quality and more expensive purchases. Unlike fellow Yelpers, I was not approached by pushy salesmen. Oddly enough, we were never greeted by anyone outside of the cafeteria during our two hour trip. While I do enjoy exploring freely without feeling pressured, and give major props to management for taking other Yelp reviews into consideration, I think adding a friendly hello or smile on the salesroom floor would go a long way! After making our way through both the upstairs and downstairs we stumbled upon the clearance section (yes please!). For someone who loves decor, but can't talk themselves into $100 MB pillows, I was beyond excited to take a look at their markdowns. While I understand that nameband products can be ridiculously priced, even when on clearance, I was disappointed to see several broken nick-nacks priced in the $200-300 range. Note: Mathis Brothers offers inhouse dining at Camille's SideWalk Cafe, which was absolutely delicious.
