Purchased an item online through their website. The description of the item was so intentionally deceiving. The photos of the item are nothing like the item I received, and the item I received was defective. When inquiring about returning the defective item, I was told that not only did I have to pay for the cost of shipping, but I also would have 25% of the purchase price deducted for re-stocking fee. I reached out to customer support, Hunter Morris & Melanie Hunt, but received no help or support. I love the food at Mathis you all should try it. It's really delicious. My favorite is the Cajun chicken pasta and I love my Caesar chicken salad on the side. My cousin always gets the BLT and she loves it. By the way, the garlic fries are amazing. The food is just simply amazing here. Don't underestimate it because it's a furniture store. Also everything is made fresh to order so it might take you a little while just be patient and wait for the goodness to come to you. By the way, if you don't have a membership, you might want to get a membership. Beware of this store. Worst customer service experience in my opinion. I called in to see if they sold the Avocado mattress and a sales person Anthony said they do not sell the Avocado but they have an organic equivalent mattress. I went in and was impressed with him as he stated himself he was very knowledgeable sales person who listened to what I wanted in a fully organic mattress and a wall hugging adjustable base. He sold me what he called their equivalent to the Avocado mattress along with a "wall hugging" adjustable base. We got it delivered and unfortunately it was not a wall hugging base and on top of that it was not working properly which was confirmed by a service tech a few days after installing. I immediately advised him and he then after some research took full responsibility for the error. He went to his supervisor Joshua Real and I was told I would be refunded for the base and they do not even sell any wall hugging base options. In the midst of the base issue, I checked my mattress tag and to my shock it contains 25% polyurethane foam the Avocado contains 0% polyurethane foam. I then requested a return of the mattress due to misrepresentation. I have been passed around between corporate and the store. I finally was informed that they are returning the mattress and arranged for the pick up. I inquired if they will be picking up the base at the same time as well I was then told by corporate that the base was not being refunded. I am so disappointed because corporate person told me that the person who told me the base was accepted to be returned for refund does not have that power and only the store manager Ashley has to approve it. Now looks like I am in a mess to get the non working non wall hugging base refunded. Unbelievable. read more

Walked in and immediately noticed the enormity of this place, thankfully was greeted by a sales associate. I explained what I was looking for an in a blink she was showing me many choices of what was available, both in design and comfort. The store itself was clean, well organized and comfortable. For my online order (Oklahoma HQ) they sent the wrong item. when purchasing from any Mathis Brothers keep in mind to check all stitching, piping etc. The majority of the time it is sewed incorrectly, as is not the same on both sides, fabric tucked in when it shouldn't be, not sewed well, etc. Also NEVER buy an extended warranty. DO NOT PURCHASE THE FURNITURE WARRANTY! IT IS A GIMMICK! I purchased a sectional sofa in June of 2025. I have a small dirt stain on the seat cushion from the bottom of my feet. (I have hardwood floors) I called the insurance company GBS, which sent a technician out to clean my sofas. I waited weeks for the appt., and hours for him to arrive. The tech went to his truck, came back with a bottle of leather cleaner from Target, wiped the stain, and said he can't clean it, so he left and advised me to call the company back. Which I did, to find out that they will only replace the sofa piece. My warranty is voided, and there is a delivery fee of $199. I called David Khoury, the sales associate who sold me the insurance, who never explained any of that to me. He STATED the entire sofa was covered for life for $499. He never returned my call, of course, but he sure got the credit for the sale! Please save yourself and don't let them get you for $499! It is a true Gimmick! Such a great store and showroom with a great selection. My biggest complaint (ultimately one of my most significant factors in not making a purchase) was the salespeople. As soon as you walk in, they attack you like vultures. I get it - that's their job, and they are likely highly compensated based on commission. But man, let your customers breathe while shopping. Once I made it through the main entrance alive and began to browse, I realized they were staged throughout the store, watching your every move. As soon as you sit on a couch or touch a piece of furniture, they start to question you. It would be nice if they had a system that you identify yourself as just wanting to browse without high-pressure salespeople, or if you'd like to shop with an associate, you can choose that path. We came in today on a Friday afternoon and was cheerfully greeted by a desk full of employees. Then a friendly employee named Valerie greeted us, asked what were where interested in looking at, and proceeded to escort us to the recliner area. Valerie was knowledgeable and patient with us as we tried out different recliners and wandered around. There are so many options to choose from and fabric possibilities! After looking around awhile I remembered the gray recliner I saw online. I showed Valerie the picture and she knew exactly where it was! During Thanksgiving we purchased several items of furniture and were offered warranties which we thought sounded good. I have to say part of the warranty is $$ each month to spend in the Cafe... We have met a lovely young lady by the name of Heavenly who is always so very helpful and we truly appreciate that. The Cafe is always clean and the food is always fresh and tasty. I wish I could say something nice but the first mattress they delivered was so high I had to use a step ladder to get in and out of bed. A whole week later they brought a replacement but it doesn't fold or bend for an adjustable frame. I was expecting a call but no one called because they were waiting for the dining set to arrive before processing my order for 2-4 weeks without informing me. !!!!! 3) I had to make multiple phone calls and was informed that the dining set was on backorder for 2-4 weeks, despite being initially told it was in stock. I received my invoice through email and it includes a freight fee. By becoming a member, you will receive delivery free of charge! Absolutely not!! YOU WILL STILL BE BILLED! I called and spent 19 mins on the phone finally it was removed. ! why did it had to called this should have never happened. 5) I had to pick up the phone for the third time to request the removal of the freight charges. 6) My sales representative was supposed to check into another dining set but he didn't follow through, failing to provide me with alternative choices. Completely disregarded my request or follow up. I had called left messages and text never heard bad. 7) Required numerous phone calls to arrange the delivery schedule. My recommendation for anyone shopping at this store: Review your receipt to confirm no freight charges, and if they claim to have the item in stock, ensure it is documented because they may accuse you of lying or being mistaken later. I have always liked the selection and customer service of Mathis brothers. So went back last year to buy a dining table and chair set. They have this silly membership system now and the salesman assured numerous times that it is one time fee. This week my credit card charged $150 for annual membership. Never signed up for annual membership and it is ridiculous. Talk about asking a class action lawsuit. How about going back to honest good service furniture sales business. Definitely losing a long time customer. Service related. We walked in along with two other groups of customers who were both instantly swarmed and greeted by several sales people gathered at the front entrance. None of them greeted us and asked about what we were looking for today. Definitely a store environment that feels like if you look and dress a certain way you'll get better service. Anthony Davis, the sales rep, is a gem to work with and truly goes above and beyond to help you in the most challenging times that YOU WILL for a fact experience. So think twice about ever buying furniture from Mathis. I know I won't be anymore! I've had to experience MULTIPLE returns, repairs, and cancelations of repairs due to the one and only repair guy being "sick" and another most recently being "canceled/rescheduled" because of traffic from where he was at. They've also damaged my stairs upon delivery, and I'm awaiting a third party company to contact me to repair my oak stairs. Yet to happen weeks later. Will they ever? Who knows! ALSO, to my surprise, I had ANOTHER Mathis customer show up to my house claiming that their airpods showed at my house the day of one of my deliveries from Mathis, which happened to be a day they had a delivery from Mathis too. Waiting for my refund from Mathis Home since 4/1/23. I was told 10 business day is their working day. So I waited patiently for the money to come back. Found out Mathis home only refunded partially. Out of $1861.41, there was only $1458.45 refunded. The other refunds of $1.55 x4 & $198.38 x2 were not refunded to me at all. (Don't ask me why they refunded this this way. I have no clues.) Buyers be aware. Mathis Home call center from Oklahoma said they changed out credit card company. The old credit card company DID NOT forwarded/transferred my refunded info to the new credit card company. That's why my refund was not done. To make this even worse, the rep said the accounting team ask me to call the Mathis Home Credit Card company for the refund. The rep asked them what's the number to give to the client, they said they don't know. I have to google it. Unbelievable, I hope this message message get to the person who will really get things done right. It's not about money now, it's about the principle. Came back to look one more time at the bed sets and couches we liked. I was glad that there were a lot of customers which mean we wouldn't be bothered by a salesperson. Bad assumption! To my surprise the gray couch that I loved went up $300!!! What the heck? I was only here 17 days ago. The salesperson who approaches me while I was sitting in the couch told me that this particular style with chenille fabric was really popular and flew out the door. Supply and demand, right? I recently went into this Mathis Brothers because it had been some time since I've visited this store. I wanted to see the new furniture and trends. I was greeted by a person upon walking in, then two feet later another person, then 5 feet later a third, then another 18" another. I took a half breath and three more people greeted me, I turned the corner and I gazed upon a piece of furniture and another person greeted me. 18 people came up to me in 9 minutes. If this was a bar or I was lost in the woods and they were National Park Rangers I'd have given 5 stars, but no I never was able to look at furniture while I was there. At first, I figured I was just on the TV show impractical jokers, but a TV crew never revealed themselves. They did have a full bar upstairs for when your nerves are so far wrecked you can have a mixed drink to ease the beyond high pressure sales tactics. They made the solar energy people and the Jehovah's Witnesses look like amateur hour. Anyways when they took off the handcuffs, and returned my wallet after I agreed to purchase a $12,000 bedroom set, I was happy to get out of there. It was time to commit to the bunk bed for my daughter, so I knew just where to go. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the staff and introduced to Tom. I said I was in for a bunk bed or anything that catches my daughter's eye, really (so she can sleep in her own bed lol). I preferred to have a loft style bed to maximize space, but good engineering on those things wasn't going to come at a convenience. I was brought to the children's bedding area where I could take my pick and really browse to get a feel for what I wanted. We explored a few options, as there were plenty of styles and finishes to choose from. My daughter and I both love what we chose. They don't honor any claims and make bogus excuses that have nothing to do with your claim. Mathis should be ashamed at themselves for selling junk protection plans. They will try to sell you furniture insurance through a company, GBS. Please do NOT spend extra money for extended insurance. GBS, has several loopholes protecting themselves from helping the insured. They are in the business to collect money, with no expectation of helping the person who spent the money. We were lucky enough to get a couch for a decent price and because it was on clearance doesn't mean it should be treated the way it was... I'm going for pickup and the team helping to move the couches onto the UHaul didn't realize I was in the store watching them literally break and rip them even more than condition we bought it in.... Seriously terrible I even talked to 1 of the employees they used the excuse of just taking it apart and I said clearly you don't know how if they're going it like that... they were kicking and tugging on it really hard... Multiple disappointing experiences now. They items cost more and they tout quality but the junk doesn't hold up any better then the cheap stuff online so save your money, it's no better quality. Their protection plans are complete garbage as well. Issues: 1. My couch took 10 months to deliver instead of the 4 promised. 6 months later the Chaise portion was sagging already ... called and after several calls, they sent someone out to "re-stuff" ... still sagging in the middle... called again and got told that's normal wear and tear. For a $5000 (Brand is Bernhardt) I should at least get 2 years out without it starting to sag... 2. Paid $600 for a rug and 18 months later all the color has faded out of it... got told that's "wear and tear" .. my $150 rug in the other room off wayfair is several years older and looks practically new compared to this one.. another lesson learned. read more
