My daughter started Mathenasium a year ago and loves their approach to learning. There is a lot of positive feedback, encouragement and celebration when she masters something new. She hated going to Kumon and their way of teaching and learning was NOT doing anything for her. Here at Mathenasium, they keep her engaged, motivated and excited to learn and grow! She gets 1-1 support from really committed and enthusiastic teachers who seem to enjoy helping her understand concepts she needs to understand and challenge her when she needs to be pushed to stretch and grow! My wife and I found ourselves needing support in math for our daughter because of Common Core and plus we just don't have the time to research and learn her material. We've heard of and seen Mathnasium centers all around, and were thrilled to find out that there's finally a Mathnasium in Hacienda Heights! Enrolling our daughter is one of the best decisions we've made. We needed a program that has flexible schedule and math specific that will help our daughter advance further and strengthen her math skills, along with building number sense and critical thinking. We spoke with Judy, the center director, who is understanding, compassionate, and clearly explained what the program consist of. Our child was offered to do an assessment right away. We received a copy of the intuitive results and individualized learning plan that our daughter will be working on besides homework help. My daughter was pleased to know Mathnasium does not give additional math homework. And so are we. The results was helpful because it pinpoints exactly what my daughter needs help on; no wasting time on concepts my child already knows, which is huge plus for us. We are not about to spend money on an after school/daycare program that just helps with homework, gives busy work to kill time and worksheets my child hates, that does not target what she needs to improve on. We know because my daughter has been to a couple of those, which are a dime a dozen. We pulled her out. Mathnasium is like a transformation from a typical after school tutoring to a highly specialized math learning program that works. Our daughter has been attending Mathnasium for a couple of months now, and math homework is no longer a battle. The instructors report that our child has greatly improved and we can also see that in her school tests scores. Our child now enjoys math more than ever because this program and highly qualified instructors makes math make sense as advertised. Children in the foster care system often fall behind in school due to the issues that led them to become part of the system as well as multiple school changes which can be an unavoidable side effect of being in the system. Judy Tom & the staff at Mathnasium Hacienda Heights went above and beyond to work with me and the Department of Children & Family Services to enroll a child who desperately needed help. In only two months she has shown a significant improvement in her math skills, as is reflected in her grades. I am truly impressed with this place! I hardly write any kind of review but this place deserves 5+ stars! I've waited some time to write this review so I can truly tell how this place improved my son's math skills. I enrolled my son here for a couple of months now and I can honestly say how impressed I am with this center. We met with Ms. Judy the Center Director and MY Goodness she was so kind and understanding. She took her time to listen to my concerns and clearly explained every little details of the program. From the details, I just knew this place will help my son and allow him to enjoy math. She answered all my questions and went above and beyond with what I had expected. To have a director like this makes me truly feel comfortable sending my son here to learn. I also met all the instructors. I saw how they teach my son and how they teach each student here. Each of them take their time and is very patient. The instructors find ways to make math fun and enjoyable for each student. So its been a few months and my son goes here 3 days a week and I can truly see improvements on his math homework. He tells me how he learns new ways of solving a math problem and he also tells me he actually enjoys going to mathnasium! I am extremely glad we found this place and that he willingly wants to attend this center! As a mom, you just want your child to succeed and this place truly help my son succeed in a subject matter he was never interested in. It is a great place to learn math. My son always has issue with Math and the tutors in Mathnasium really took their time to guide and tutor him. After only a month going to Mathnasium, his math teacher at school said that his understanding and focus are improving. He just needs to be more careful (he did some careless mistakes during his tests). To my surprise, my son is also looking forward to going to his math session. He said the tutors help him to understand math better and he feels more confident because of that. Another thing that I like about this place, they not only tutor your kids to learn current math, they will assess your kids math level and give your kids assignments and tests to improve other math skills that they lack off. Which to me it is very important, as it will strengthen their math skills to prepare them for more difficult tasks ahead. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. read more

I highly recommend Hacienda Heights Mathnasium. My son goes to St. Marks and has been pretty advanced in Math. However, the school has limited math resource to accommodate his accelerated math skills. That's why I enrolled my son in the after school program at Hacienda Heights Mathnasium. We love their customized learning curriculum that's tailored to my son's needs. They begin with a personal assessment to identify my son's strengths and weaknesses to create a personalized learning plan. Their experienced instructors are able to relate well with my son's learning style and keep him challenged. My son looks forward to attending the sessions and we saw a big score jump on his academic tests just within the first 6 months of enrollment. I've done my research to find the best after school math help and enrichment program for my son who struggles in math. He doesn't like to ask questions at school so he ends up trying to figure out on his own or asks me or my husband for help which we end up arguing. It can get frustrating at home dealing with his math homework or when he's studying for a test, so I want to make sure this new school year goes well. I don't want one of those typical after school program that's all day and just checks their homework, babysits, and not pinpoint what my son needs help on. I'm so glad I found Mathnasium of Hacienda Heights! Mathnasium is perfect for my son who has a lot of activities going on so I need a math program that can accommodate our hectic schedule. Mathnasium is 3 hours per week so I can drop off my son 3x per week for 1 hour or 2x per week for 1.5 hrs which ever day and time I want, like a gym membership. The flexibility works wonders! And the great thing is that the instructors help my son with his math homework and don't give any additional homework to do at home. He has enough as it is. I knew this would be a great program when Ms. Judy explained the program from beginning to end in such detail - I was so impressed. No wonder she opened two locations - Walnut, first center and Hacienda Heights, second center. My son took their assessment and soon after I was able to see his results of where he struggled most, broken down by percentages of each concept or topic. From there, she created an individualized learning plan that only pinpoints the concepts he missed to fill the learning gaps. They are a savior! My son used to hate math and now I can see that he has a whole new outlook and is able to approach math problems when he's at home, thanks to the exceptional instructors there. The instructors are super friendly and engaging. They seem to genuinely care for my son to do well. I can see my son continuing here for the next couple of years until he graduates. I want to make sure he does well in math especially since math is so important. I am going to enroll my youngest here as well. I see the benefits of her starting early using the Mathnasium approach.
