I haven't been to college since graduating 20 years ago and visiting college campuses isn't usually what I normally do on vacation, but I had some time on Thursday and Friday in late October 2022, so I ended up walking and reminiscing of my own college days rushing to class after class and people watching while playing Pokémon Go. The college campus in downtown Des Moines is rather small, comparative to other larger campuses nationwide. I spent about 2 hours wandering around campus and it was rather enjoyable, especially when people were bundled up because it was cold enough for those on campus to do so. The experience reminded me that if I wanted to go back for another advanced degree, I have the means to get it, just need financial and time commitment lol With that said, my time here at my own self directed Drake University campus tour was educational and yet powerful too. I enjoyed the different architectural differences that college buildings do have comparably to the community surrounding the campus perimeter. It's interesting that it is different. I ended up walking the inside areas including the admissions building and then circling outside the perimeter to access other areas of the campus. It was a nice walk and glad to have gotten it in both days while I was there. It was cool to see student leaders giving campus tours to incoming freshmen when I was there. Reminds me of what campus life was and still is in the general sense of college living. The overall experience here at Drake University - Des Moines, IA was casual, quiet, and definitely a nice time to unwind and decompress during my vacation in the Midwest. I particularly enjoyed the quietness of the campus, even though it was during the work week and before 10am on both days I cruised through the campus. It was nice just to be there and not have campus security question me. Lol I guess as long as you're not suspicious or doing anything wrong, you should be okay. For the most part though, the time spent here really helped me for my mental and physical health, especially when life and other things can be at a crossroads. Coming to a college campus helps to rekindle that lost experience that I needed to unwind and reconnect my former youth. The campus of Drake University is well maintained by the good folks in the maintenance department of the university. It's a place you'd want to go to, if you're looking for a place of higher learning in the Midwest and want to live in Des Moines, IA. The school has much to offer prospective students and teachers who wish to pursue their futures here. The campus is beautiful and lucky to have been here and visited. If you are in the area and want something to do, consider coming to the Drake University campus to take a look. Definitely a place I don't mind coming back, if future travels permit me to do so. The main campus of Drake University is located at 2507 University Avenue here in Des Moines, IA. As a mid sized learning institution in the Midwest USA, they take pride in accepting those who want to further their academic futures and to pursue academic degrees offered here at Drake University. As with many colleges and universities, they impose tuition per term and offer financial assistance for those who qualify. Not sure if they accept credit card payments for tuition, but never hurts to ask ahead of time if you're interested in getting ahead and enrolling. The ambiance during my fall walk on campus was a delightful one. Really enjoyed my experience here and a good flashback to my college days, even though I didn't go to school here at Drake University. It helps keep the youth alive in all of us and reminds us that life is a journey and school / learning is a big part of it. If you're in the area, consider the campus tour. They are amazing with children, teach them in a way that they are, not only prepared for kindergarten, but still hold onto that creativity that a lot of other programs are unable to hold onto with children. They are very family oriented and have a long history of putting the needs of the child first, even if the parents aren't ready to hear it. I am one of those parents. We knew our son was different, but the teachers helped us figure out that he had sever ADHD and is on the autism spectrum. They did this with love and respect, walking the boundaries of being respectful of parent wishes and pushing for what was best for our child. The center not only has made an impact with me, I have worked in the field almost 30 years and 10 of those are here at CCYC, but also with my family as my oldest son put his daughter on our waitlist the moment they found out they were pregnant. Not only do I recommend CCYC to other child care professionals looking for somewhere to make a career at, but for any family that is looking for a center that is here for their children's growth and development into young caring learners.

We had been taking our kids to Little Endeavors since 2018. It is extremely unfortunate that our…read moreexperience has turned so negative. Before I get to the recent negative experiences, let me first share that the pros of Little Endeavors (Ankeny). The facility is a good size and includes both an adequate space for use as an in-door gym and good age-appropriate equipment. As for teachers, there are good (Denise, Allie, Maggie, Peg), and there are bad ones (which I will not name). Until a month or so ago, the list of pros included the amazing director (Sara), which really set this daycare center apart from the others. Since her departure, the pros have not outweighed the cons for us (which includes an annual tuition increase), so we decided to leave Little Endeavors. 1. Three minutes before drop off/center opening, we were notified that three classrooms would be closed for the day due to staff shortages. Three minutes! This forced us and other families having to find alternative care at the drop of a hat before we could go to work. 2. Also due to staff shortages, they reduced the center hours by up to two hours for weeks, causing obvious impact to families and work schedules. There were some other minor things that just started adding up that I won't go into detail here, but all of this to say that we felt it best for our family to leave for a more dependable, affordable daycare center. So, we put in our notice on a Wednesday, which gave two weeks of what our youngest (oldest no longer attends daycare) would have been at the center. We were aware of the two week notice policy, which states, "....A two-week written notice is required for families wishing to terminate our services. Failure to provide notification in writing will result in being charged for the two weeks." Since the policy does not provide a definition of a week (calendar week? week of services?) AND because the new director did not give any notice of two-week policy infringement upon confirmation of receipt of our termination request, we were completely blindsided by being charged for a third week of services (for the week after our youngest's last day at the center)! Thinking it was a clerical error initially, we emailed the new director asking for a correction. From then, it has been back and forth with different reasonings and information. First, she said that since we notified on a Wednesday, that the two-week policy would get us to two calendar weeks (another Wednesday), and in her explanation she made it sound like had we notified her one day earlier, then we would not have been charged at all (because our youngest was not attending Little Endeavors on Mondays or Tuesdays). Later, she said that they run their billing cycle on Mondays, so we would to have notified before Monday...like, what? She said that she consulted the General Manager, which also felt that they were justified according to this unclear policy in charging us for a third week! We even looked to compromise; if they would refund us for the two of the three days, then we would consider the matter resolved. That was over a week ago. On top of all of that, the same Parent Handbook that references this two-week policy also states that the initial deposit will be used for final week at Little Endeavors: "This security deposit will be applied to your account balance the last week(s) you are in the center." This was NOT done. So, we had to pay three weeks for our full tuition, meaning we were charged for an extra week AND our deposit was not used. AS OF 12/02, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR DEPOSIT REFUND! As a business, if your policy is unclear, you do not give appropriate notice, and you give the wrong information, that is considered a mistake (or a few). An ethical business will fix their mistakes. To the families that send their kids to Little Endeavors - GOOD LUCK! And be sure to read the nonexistent fine print. Needless to say, I am glad that I am no longer giving my money to Little Endeavors and its unethical business practices.

He had been in a daycare before this, in Norwalk, that had been getting him ready for preschool. My child came to Kingdom Kids for about a week before I pulled him out. My mom witnessed a "teacher" pulling my son by the arm and yelling at him for not picking up. My mom then grabbed my son away from her and he never went back. I am positive that more abuse occurred. It took forever for my child to transition into another daycare after the abuse. Another note is that none of their curriculum was geared towards kindergarten and with paying over 600.00 a month for one child you had better be teaching them something. The "teachers" are over weight, lazy and always sitting. The room was filthy dirty. Don't waste your time even viewing this daycare. The room stank and the chairs and table were covered in dirt. When I went to view they stated it was like that because they had some outdoor activity and the kids had dirtied up the chairs. I soon realized it is usually more dirty then during my scheduled visit.
