Strawberry cheesecake matcha drink is 10/10! I can definitely taste the quality of the matcha and the strawberry isn't too sweet. There are cheesecake swirls in the drink which is amazing! Tried the chocolate muffin and I was afraid it was going to be too chocolatey but it actually was pretty decent. Service was fast but the only downside that most of their danishes and breakfast items are sold out. Location is in a beautiful deserted hotel location. Very modern looking and relaxing. I wanted to try a coffee shop that I had never been to before and my wife and I found this one off of Highway 99 in Salida, which is very close to the freeway. It's a little hard to see this hidden gem because of the fencing for the motel that it's adjacent to, but it's worth a visit. It's very cute inside with tables, but the real feature is outside sitting where they have a lot of options that I'll put in with some pictures. I went with an iced Americano added sugar-free vanilla, and some cold foam and it was very delicious. There were two workers in there one taken orders and one making the coffees so it only took a few minutes to get our order. If I get back to Salida, I will definitely hit this place up. read more

This is a cute place but a little difficult to find, especially since it's somewhat tucked away next to the Bayit Hotel that I never knew was there. The coffee was very expensive (and for the smallest size ever), much higher than Starbucks where I usually frequent. The pastries looked good but again, more expensive than Panera or Starbucks. The layout is nice but it happened to be noisy at the time we visited. The nice thing is the outdoor seating so we probably should have moved outside. Service was so-so. read more

This coffee shop is so cute!! Attached to a remodeled hotel so parking is limited. The coffee shop it's self is cozy, a few small tables around and outdoor seating when it's not raining. The matcha was not good but their seasonal toffee coffee was delicious, not too sweet. I tried it both iced and hot and liked them both ways. Let's get into this cute cafe in Salina's. Right when you arrive it's a show stopper. The entry way is so unique. When we entered the cafe there was plenty of seating and the open window lighting was very nice. The staff was very friendly and assisted us with suggestions since it was our first time. We ordered the iced strawberry matcha and iced mango matcha. The matcha was good quality and the flavors were awesome! We will definitely be stopping in when we are in the area. read more

The service was quick and efficient. I will say to get here early if you want some of their pastries since the ones I wanted were sold out. There doesn't seem to be a ton of parking inside the gate, but cars were starting to park on the shoulder of the road out front. There's a smaller indoor seating area where you order that has some little tables and cozy chairs to sit and chat. Very clean, cute vibe. We were working at a fireworks booth just down the street from Matriarch and decided to pop in--and I am SO glad we did. I chose some sort of heavenly pastry creation with what seemed like a crème brûlée bottom, topped with lemon pastry, cream, and blueberries... and I am not exaggerating when I say it may have been one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten in my life. The combination of flavors and textures was absolutely unreal. Sweet, tart, creamy, caramelized perfection. I honestly don't even know exactly what I ordered, but I do know I'll be thinking about it for a very long time. Tried the Cardamom ice latte, it was pretty good but the chocolate croissant was amazing!!!!! They have a beautiful, modern, welcoming atmosphere. However girl behind the counter didn't seem thrilled to be there. She had a bad attitude, we said hi and she didn't say hi or give us some sort of welcoming. Anyways, we ordered our drinks then I asked about a croissant that seemed different than the others and she kind of gave me attitude and said "it's chocolate" when it clearly had other toppings then said "oh" and pointed at the menu irritated. The cafe is cute but It took almost 20 minutes for me to get my drink when almost no one was there. I was there with my sibling once and she waited almost 30 minutes for a sandwich. They informed her AFTER she ordered the food that it was out and she had to get something else. She had to get up and ask where her food was. She waited another 30 minutes only to get a glob of cup up avocado on a hard piece of toast and a handful of arugula. Most of the workers were just standing there and not doing anything. I have heard stellar things about this place and it did not disappoint. I love trying coffee shops and cafes around the 209. First off, when you walk in, the vibes are immaculate. The baristas greeted me and it is super cute inside. The most important part, however, is the drink I had. I wish I could've ordered like 3 drinks. I ended up getting the strawberry masala chai... when I tell you, this was SO GOOD. It was different than a traditional chai, with more citrusy notes to it. But if you are into more of a spicy, acidic flavor, I recommend it. I just saw their spring menu and I need to go back. The baristas were so dang sweet and made my day. And if that wasn't enough to convince you, the ambiance indoors and in the outdoor area they have is just wonderful! While the place is very nice to look at, the prices are high compared to other coffee shops, and the coffee was average. I had an iced toffee drink and it was okay, but I did need to add sweetener. I had been wanting to try this little cafe since it opened and I finally got the chance to try it yesterday. I ordered a cookie butter latte and a bagel with cream cheese, tomato, micro greens, and avocado. It was $18. Pretty pricey if you ask me, but it's OK if the food/ drink is good. I was disappointed in the food because my bagel was so hard- it tasted old. I ate most of it because I was so hungry but I had to saw through the bagel with a knife to cut it. The cookie butter latte unfortunately tasted nothing like cookie butter. It wasn't bad, but it just tasted like a plain latte with a cookie thrown on top. There was no cookie butter flavor to the actual coffee itself at all. On a more positive note, the cafe itself was really cute inside and very aesthetically pleasing. The bathroom inside the cafe was also very cute and clean. The outside area of the cafe was nice as well. They had some nice looking pastries in the display case, but I didn't order any so I can't comment on their taste. Overall, I don't think I would return- the coffee just didn't wow me like I hoped. Matriarch Café is such a gem in Modesto! The coffee is absolutely amazing, highly recommend the honey lavender latte, iced or hot, with oat milk. It's perfectly balanced and easily one of the best specialty drinks I've had. Our family also tried the pesto turkey sandwich and it was a hit, fresh, flavorful, and made with quality ingredients. You can really tell everything here is thoughtfully prepared and fresh. The service truly stands out. The owners are incredibly hospitable, warm, and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Which my son loved. But when I went to order and asked a question about the coffee options, they all looked at me like I was stupid. I ordered my drink and food and waited 20 min. They got my name wrong and so I didn't notice it was ready until I went up and asked about it. Even though I was going up to the counter multiple times to check.
