So maybe it was an off day, but my experience here was one to make me think twice on coming back. The rolls were filled with what seemed like bad old fish. Maybe they were just trying to finish off something that was left, I don't know. The rice in the rolls were undesirable and felt rushed with a hint of something sweet. Miso soup had the flavor of water with the hint of miso. Left over lettuce with some heavy dose of water down dressing was the salad. Rolls were cut uneven and butchered. Almost as if the time to sharpen the knife was left for tomorrow. Again maybe it was a bad day or maybe they were in a rush to go home. I've never been to a Japanese restaurant for dinner with a table of 5 and be in and out with in 45 minutes. Everything that was delivered was just randomly thrown on our table with out a care of where or who ordered them. Maybe I'm asking for too much. There's always that chance. But is it too much to ask for some type of customer service? Is it wrong to expect better quality from all food ordered? At the end of the day I now question everything I ate, having that fun feeling of my stomach turning. It will be a long time to even consider coming back. I would not recommend this place for sushi rolls after 6pm on a Sunday for dinner. I would rather drive to Raley's and choose from the assortments they have. read more

Let me start off by saying I never leave bad reviews, BUT the food was so nasty. The food literally made my wife and I sick. We stopped eating the food after just a few bites in and threw it out. $30 just good bye. About an hour or so later we both felt disgusted and our stomachs hurt. Had to try out the new sushi spot in town and so glad we did! Although Mikasa is still our fave sushi in Tracy, this new addition definitely hit the spot! The service is super friendly, and fast! Maybe because on a Sunday night at 8pm we were the only ones in there. But soon after a few more families arrived. The restaurant is pretty small but they make due with what they've got. We ordered the Discovery Bay roll, which was on the special menu. It was good, but for $16 we thought it should be a much bigger portion. We also got the 49er roll which was half the price, and they looked similar in size! The Monkey roll was good as well, the only negative was the tempera asparagus was not fresh. You could tell it was pre-fried, and they just added to it once the roll was made. I wanted that hot crispy crunch when biting into the tempera asparagus but that was not the case. They have a good selection of menu items to make us come again, and we most definitely will, especially because it's less than a mile away from our house! This place seemed cute, but as soon as I walked in I was yelled at to order now. But as soon as a white man walked in he was spoken to with care and patience. My 49er roll was small and looked like they just rolled it together and threw it around, the avocado was literally only on one of the pieces. We have been to all the Sushi restaurants in Tracy. We decided to give the new place a try. I have to say by far this is the best Sushi place in Tracy. I tried the Bento plate. The Tempura is well cooked and has a amazing verity of vegetables. For example mushrooms and asparagus. The Tempera shrimp was well battered and tasted great. Well portioned chicken slices with sweet teriyaki flavor in the savory sauce. I tried the Golden Dragon roll and it was amazing. Sushi was well crafted with premium ingredients and presentation. Very friendly and attentive staff. Give it a try! Glad my family and I made the stop. We will be back again. read more

I wish I could leave a zero star review. I was so excited to try a new sushi spot in Tracy but these people disappointed me. It was my first time at this spot I only ordered a Philadelphia roll. when I got in the car to check my order it didn't look like smoked salmon like it should've been. I wish I took a picture of it before I threw it away. It also tasted bitter...... I decided okay maybe they'll try to fix it if I let them know . I Called them up and the same lady that charged me answered and she told me to hold so she can ask people in the kitchen what happened.... She came back on the phone and said " it's just the belly part of the salmon the bitter taste is probably just the cream cheese" I tried to tell her if she can fix it but got cut off by her saying " it's okay just eat it nothing will happen it's just the belly part of the salmon" and as I was talking and replying to that she just hung up on me .... So rude!!!! My go to is always some type of roll with smoked salmon in it and it did NOT look like salmon to me at all..... I am very disappointed.... I have read through some of the reviews about this establishment. And have eaten the food from this place several times, the men prepping the rolls are diligent at filling the ponderous amount of oders they receive. I have found that the place is so popular that if you do not call in your order before you get there you're going to be waiting at least 30 minutes for your order. The lady that answers the phone is very busy and does not have time to be very social. I order the same thing every time and it tastes the same every time and it tastes good to me. One person had a review about "not very fresh" I know from experience that certain dishes taste best when served on the day of the catch. But keep your head in reality once the fish is caught it goes to Market Once Sold at Market it's frozen Once Frozen and sold and delivered it's thawed in a refrigerated room then carved in to pieces and made ready to eat they're on the spot we are 3 hours away from the ocean and have a sushi place that puts out great food as they do everyday is a blessing so this restaurant has my thanks for the good food that they put out. The one thing I can complain about is having to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the other hungry people waiting for my food. read more

This is a lot better than Mikasa customer satisfaction. Needs a little more gesture but I'll pick their employees than Mikasa in Tracy Blvd. They have more Sushi to choose from than Mikasa. Smaller restaurant than Mikasa but that's not what I came for, it's the food. When it get busy they only have one waitress which is a downer. Overall I'll eat here without thinking twice. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a little while now and what better time then when it's 100° and we don't feel like cooking. We were greeted and seated as soon as we opened the door. The staff there is very friendly and attentive, probably due to the semi-small dining area which i prefer over a larger one. We ordered and food just started rolling out. Nigiri sushi was fresh and clean and very tasty. The Uni was some of the best if not the best I have ever had. The rolls were really good as well. We had the Hawaii roll and the Jungle roll. Both very good! My wife had the beef teriyaki bento box. Very tender and flavorful, but a little sweet for me. We will definitely be visiting here again. The atmosphere is so much better than Mikasa. All workers were calm and easy going. I never felt rushed or ignored. I ordered Togo their vegetable roll and teriyaki platter. The platter came with rice, salad, and soup, all small portions. While waiting multiple people came in picking up, and the man knew everyone who came in. I will definitely be coming back! read more

My husband and I love Sushi. This place is our go to sushi restaurant. The service is outstanding and is very prompt. The gentleman (can't remember his name) is always quick to greet us and get us our usual drinks. We go here almost every other week. We sit at the same table and same thing and it's always excellent! Horrible horrible customer service. . . . . Came here for lunch one Sunday afternoon with my family. There being table's outside decided to sit and eat outside tob enjoying the beautiful day. I asked the waiter if it was OK to sit and eat outside, she was fine with it. She came out took our order and went back inside. She brought out or food and our check then said I NEED YOU TO PAY FIRST........ummmm OK. Didn't even explain anything to us just demanded we pay before we eat. Wasn't even done bringing everything out ? Ended up forgetting our sushi and didn't even apologize. How rude, never have I had an experience like this. I'm not a yelper @ all, this is my 1st. The sushi was good, if it was just in taste I'd give them a 6/10 but the service was very nice so I'd uo them to 4/5 I got the rainbow roll and lion king roll and both just tasted like any other sushi restaurant which is fine. The House Spicy Tekka was good. I like the generous amount of cucumber, usually barely noticeable in most rolls brought out the spicy flavor nicely. The tempura was also good since it was not greasy. The chicken was a little overlooked, hence the 4, not 5 stars. read more

Tried out this place today and it was not too bad. Overall, good quality of food and friendly staff but one thing for heads up is they charge tea! I haven't seen a Japanese restaurant that charges tea and I have worked in several Japanese places so that was surprising when the bill came. One last thing would be that pork katsu isn't as tasty as chicken katsu. Pork katsu had weird after-taste and was hard to swallow. I would not come back to this place. read more

Just picked up lunch from here and i am going to give this a huge hell no. The California rolls tasted gross and not fresh. How do you F up a California roll. The rice was fine and so were the avocados but that imitation crab meat, could it have possibly been any cheaper. also got the spicy scallop roll and seriously there were FOUR pieces of scallops on the entire roll and the rest was spicy imitation crab mix. Hella whack. Like another reviewer mentioned below be careful when ordering their lunch special bento box. I specifically requested the lunch order of chicken teriyaki and tempura and they charged and gave me the dinner portion. i did not realize this until i had already come home. Check your order and your food before leaving the restaurant. Fair warning. Why why why is there no good Japanese food in Tracy. The only redeeming quality was that the chicken teriyaki was nicely charred and delish. The salad dressing tasted like thousand island mixed with sesame oil or something...... if you come here DO NOT order sushi. Keep it safe with their bento boxes. They seem to have that one down.
