    Ban chan!!!! Delicious !
    Yiuing P.

Wow. Amazing Korean food. Friendly Korean speaking staff. Top items we enjoyed the most: 1. Japchae with beef. $15, +$3 for beef tofu or other meat. The flavorful noodles with the vegetables were great. 7/5 2. Tonkotsu with cheese. 8/5 Crispy, outside, melted cheese pulling out between pieces. Comes with rice and vinegared tonkatsu sauce. Very impressive. 3. Ban chan. It comes free with the meal and only a very small amount - but each item is very delicious. Salty and crunchy Cucumber kimchee, mild garlicky kimchee, sweet shoyu potatoes, soy beans, and slightly seasoned broccoli. 7/5 4. Toppogi with rice cake $10. 5/5. Satisfying mochi and nice rice cake. May order something else next time: 5. Hot stone bimbimbap. $20 it had lot of great veggies, and the beef on it was great, however, the veggies could have gotten a little more taste and gochujang was slightly thin and a little on the sweeter side. 3.5/5 6. Kalbi. $32 Solid. Very well marinated and cooked. But the price is too high. 5/5 so it is here in this category

Marooooo, what it do! As one of the few / only Korean spots out here in Tracy, I am happy to say that they can deliver good Korean food. It's also owned by a lovely couple and has a friendly atmosphere due to that familial aspect! Due to that, I would make sure to check their hours on Yelp because sometimes they close at a max a week whenever they go to Korea / out of town and Apple Maps does not update that LOL. There's a few restaurants next to it like Kengo Sushi and a pho spot, but I only really go in this area when I want Korean food and don't feel like traveling to the bay. Although their menu is a bit more on the limited side, they have the classic options you'd usually see at a Korean restaurant that gets the craving done. For example, they have their spicy tofu stew (soondubo jjiggae) and bibimbap (rice bowls with meat & veggies offered on your choice of hot stone or cold). Good appetizer choices like Seafood pancake, chicken wings, and mandu. They don't have the grills like typical kbbq spots, but offer these cooked meats on a sizzling grill plate that comes with rice at no extra charge. Lunch is cheaper by like $10, so I'd recommend getting their Galbi or Pork Belly at this time rather than dinner. Love their banchan. I'm a huge fan of the sweet braised potato side dish, so I'm happy they have this! They will also gladly refill any of these options if you ask. Their seafood pancake is perfectly crispy / flakey and a good size to share between 3-4 people. Flavor is great. Got their Galbi at the lunch price of $22, which always hits. Good amount of meat given and you can tell that meat was #marinatedandgrilled. Easy to chew as well. Also a fan of purple rice so that's a plus. Overall, solid Korean spot. It's not the BEST I've had and their prices can be a bit steep at dinner. A bit more on the limited side when it comes to menu choices, but it's definitely good. I'm just glad it's a place my family and I can rely on whenever we want Korean food.

I live in Modesto and I didn't think it was worth all the time driving here to try this food. I was wrong. I got the Ramen plain because I'm really picky and it tasted amazing. I ordered a Fanta and the Bonchon is good with the fish cake and broccoli and kimchi. My dad ordered the jap chae for me and he ended up loving it. This place is bursting a flavor and smells good in here too. We will be definitely coming back.

Korean dining is all about the banchan. I love being able to mix and match flavors withe simple addition of a condiment. The tofu is probably my favorite, but nothing beats a good kimchee. Love the relaxed vibe and friendly service. Good portions don't hurt either. I recommend the pork belly, but so far, nothing has been disappointing. They automatically add a tip, but that doesn't bother me much. I have felt taken care of each time I visit. Recommend.

Maroo Is authentic Korean! It tastes like my boyfriend's mom. She'd be impressed everything was delicious. I'm glad we drove an hour to try good Authentic Korean food. The service was really good for only 1 person out front. They were so polite and friendly. I was impressed . Give it a try

This was the first Korean spot we tried in Tracy, and it was a great experience overall. The drive from Modesto wasn't bad at all, and it was well worth it. The service was warm and friendly, and the food really hit the spot. The spicy pork paired perfectly with the purple rice flavorful and satisfying. The spicy beef soup had a bold kick and deep flavor, and the seafood pancake was crispy, savory, and delicious. Everything was served fresh, and the beer came out cold just the way it should be. The place is on the smaller side, but it's clean and well-kept, making for a comfortable dining experience. Heads-up: All dine-in orders are automatically charged a service fee 15% for parties under 5 and 18% for groups of 6 or more. Definitely worth checking out if you're in or around Tracy and craving some solid Korean food.

We stopped in for lunch at Maroo on a Saturday around noon. It was totally empty when we arrived, but by the time we left it had filled up, which is always a good sign. We started with the Soy Glazed Chicken and the Beef Mandoo--both were excellent. The chicken was perfectly fried and had a flavorful glaze that wasn't too sweet or overpowering. The mandoo were crispy and tasted super fresh. They brought out rice and a nice variety of banchan after we ordered, and all the side dishes were really tasty. For mains, I got the Galbi soup which had a rich, flavorful broth and plenty of beef and veggies. My wife got the Soondubu stew which came bubbling hot with an egg to mix in. The flavor was good, but it had a bit too much tofu and not quite enough broth, so the balance felt a little off. Overall though, it was a really good lunch, and we'll definitely be back. They automatically add the tip, but the service was friendly and attentive, so no complaints there.

Good Korean food in the Tracy area. We enjoyed their galbi, bulgogi, kimchi pancake, banchan, and barley tea. Service is friendly and attentive.

What a gem of a restaurant! Everything we ordered was so yummy. The bulgolgi, soy glazed chicken wings, soondubu stew, and spicy calamari were all delicious!

This is a great Tracy find! I don't often stop here but meeting a friend for dinner and I was a big fan of this spot. They opened at 5pm we were about the 3rd group in on a Friday night - the spot filled up pretty fast, the restaurant itself isn't too large so be prepared to wait if you're going during prime dinner time. Ordered the strawberry soju, a little too artificial flavor for me but cute glasses and did the job. We got the seafood pancake, ordered the spicy rice cakes because I LOVE tteokbokki but he misheard and gave us spicy fried chicken - which no regrets, it was great. I got the galbi plate, brother got the bulgogi and friend got the tofu soup. Pancake was huge and flavorful, would've liked more dipping sauce. Banchans were also on the lighter side in amount. Otherwise will definitely keep this spot in mind next time I'm in Tracy!

Came here for lunch and was craving japche and the side fixing I ordered over the phone and pick up in 25mins, small little restaurant ample parking I was greeted and taken care of and waited a lil longer to get my food they pack me up some extra sides, the noodles were nice and bouncy but I felt like it was missing something almost a 5 star tho.

Three words to describe it: exquisite, homey, and positive vibes. Food: 4/5 For someone coming from the Bay Area, I was actually quite thrown off by how delicious this place was. We got the seafood pancake, the ramyun with cheese and seafood, along with the assorted vegetables. While the ramen was quite seasoned and stuff, I wished they used mozzarella cheese instead of American cheese to add a little more flavor to it. The assorted dishes were also kinda small in portion, and the kimchi wasn't really sour -- it had a little bit too much gochujang powder residue left in there. Overall good food -- just one star off for the blandness. Service: 5/5 Loved the service -- we were served right away and the waiters gave us time and gave really good recommendations :) Atmosphere: 4/5 I loved how warm it was inside -- it was honestly a little tight but I don't blame them as the mall itself is also quite small too. Overall, I'd come back here again

This with the very low expectations that if there were any offerings, anything remotely similar to Texas Barbecue would be a miracle. Thank heaven for miracles! It's all in the name - Taste of Texas Barbecue puts the flavor and quality where its name is. I was pleasantly surprised when I unwrapped the brisket and pulled pork on my 3-meat plate and found that everything was moist and smoked just right. At first, I was taken aback that the meats were wrapped in paper and rather luke/room-temp warm. Then I thought that is very smart to keep the steam created in the take-out container from overcooking the meat during delivery (similar to when I use butcher paper to complete my smoking process to keep the flavor and moisture). Having Texas roots, I am very persnickety about brisket in particular. I usually have to have a flat shipped to me when I have the time smoke my own to get that amazing Texas bark. One of the markers of great Texas-style brisket done right is that it has the trifecta - (1) perfect layer of bark, (2) tender/moist, and (3) the smoke flavor comes through so you don't need sauce except to complement the flavor. TTB has taken this Texas girl on a flavor journey back to Dallas!!! For the sides, I chose potato salad and coleslaw, but potato salad is not an option anymore, but is still listed on DoorDash. TTB gave me a call when they received my order to let me know and listed other options - I chose the Mac. I loved the coleslaw. The Mac was good, but I would have liked it more if it arrived hot, so it may have been creamier. The barbecue sauce is perfect - not overly sweet - a great compliment to the brisket. The only thing I added was sliced onions that I marinate in fresh lemon juice. It complements the flavor of the brisket and bbq sauce. Thank you, TTB - I will definitely be a frequent flyer coming back for more and more when I don't feel like ordering and smoking my own! :0)

The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with that rich, smoky flavor you expect from Texas-style BBQ. The sausage was also delicious, with a great snap and seasoning that really stood out. The ribs had a great flavor and bark, but they were a little on the dry side for my taste. Sides were solid--mac & cheese was creamy and comforting, and the coleslaw added a nice crunch. Great spot for BBQ lovers, and I'd definitely come back to try more!

Everything looks the same and the same friendly atmosphere resides. Service is always awesome, and so is the food. This time we both chose the fish and chips lunch which includes 3 good sized pieces of batter dipped fish, and perfectly crispy fries. It was all great. Prior visit - This is a great little place to be for a meal. Totally unassuming from the street and even when you walk up, as it is in a small strip business center off of 11th Street. When I walked in for lunch, I was immediately greeted by a guy behind the bar (which is right at the door) with a smile. I proceeded upstairs to the clean and comfortable 'loft' and grabbed a table along the window so I could see out. The interior is clean and simple, open first floor to second floor ceiling. Great music playing, and just a nice vibe all the way around. Andrea, came by with a smile and greeting, asked if I had any questions, and headed off with my order. I didn't get the bartender's name, but he was just as attentive and super nice, as he came upstairs to my table and described some of the beers he currently has available. Small batch craft beers are good. . . Food: The menu is not so 'typical' as you get to select your protein, the sauce or spice for that protein, then your carb, and your veggie (or make it a salad). Nice choices too. My chicken with Korean BBQ sauce, beer batter fries and grilled Brussels sprouts was good, especially the sprouts. My chicken was on the dry side, but I have a feeling it may have been due to the fact they were managing a party of 15 as well as all the other patrons while I was there. A bit hectic for two people to keep up that pace. I definitely recommend coming to the Upper Room.
