I am a complete addict for Italian beef. In this place, definitely serves my craving Italian beef was an amazing sandwich wonderful tender beef served on a roll that held up to all the juices that were coming off of the meat. They had a nice balance of heat and sweet with the peppers, a fantastic beef sandwich. The french fries that offered were fantastic as well. Can't wait to make a return trip.

I couldn't even tell you what my thoughts were. I was too busy, chewing and admiring how amazing French dips in heaven must be because this is got to be really close.

If you want a sandwich that'll knock you out in a good way and fill you up, this place is a must try. You order at one window and pickup at the other. They were quick but not so quick that you think it's some microwaved nonsense. It's delicious, the beef is fantastic but the hot peppers make it even more enjoyable. I'm not someone that can handle a ton of heat so when I say hot peppers, they're not over the top or unbearable. They are a delicious complimentary piece to the amazing beef. I will warn you to eat it quickly, if you are driving some distance before you bite into it, the sub bun will be soggy. But even then it's delicious. The toasted ravioli is a great side, it's crunchy and if you eat it too quickly the insides will burn your mouth like a good old pizza roll. But man, what a spot and what amazing food, definitely put this place on your list.

In my humble opinion, this is Theo place to go for an authentic Chicago-style Italian Beef, a la "The Bear!" Matt was born and raised in Chicago, and brought his Italian family recipe here in 2015. Initially operating out of a food truck, they took over historic Doug's Delight Ice Cream Shop, located in Hazel Park, in 2020. There is no indoor seating, but there are outdoor picnic benches with umbrellas. They have kept the ice cream shop, and feature special flavors, such as banana. Their Italian beef sandwich ($13.50 - $14.50) comes with either spicy or mild peppers. You can order it dry, wet, or dipped where the whole sandwich is submerged in broth. I always have it dipped, but that's not very doable in my opinion if you are getting it to take home. They also offer great appetizers like deep-fried ravioli.

This is an outdoor area next to a combo of an ice cream stand and a beef sandwich shop. Picnic tables scattered around, you go to one window to order and pay, and another to pick up after 20 minutes or so. Most people are there for the Italian Beef, dry, wet, or dipped. They also have pork sandwiches, and fries with different toppings and some other sides. We went Sat at noon and they were crowded. Very limited lot parking, and side street parking. When we were there the cops were working the parking hard to find violations they could ticket. It was really good food. Maybe not quite worth the price and the wait (40 minutes between in line to order and waiting for the food), but good.

In my mind, a staple in the metro area... Matt & Mo's always has great tasting quality fresh hot food. Always. I've been five or so times now, tried many items on the menu, never had food I didn't like. This is THE place in the metro area for Italian beef. There may be others that have it, but are they as good? I don't know. All I know is at least a couple times I've been I've seen folks from Chi-town walk-up and give compliments on the Italian beef, and Chicagoans will keep it real about Italian beef. I've enjoyed the sausage on buttered garlic bread as well as the chi-dog and the coney when you're in the mood for those. The damage can get a little high for fast food but it ain't your normal fast food. Everything is made with care... and they have ice cream too.

Loved the dipped Italian beef here!! It's so tasty and filling. The toasted raviolis are also incredible and come with a marinara dipping sauce. The service was so friendly and did everything with a smile. This is place is takeout only so you can place your order online ahead of time or walk up to the window when you get there!

Looking for a fun lunch adventure, we found an Eater Detroit article that recommended Matt and Mo's as a great sandwich spot. I lived in Chicago for 15 years and the hubs was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, so we were pumped to find a possible new hot dog and Italian beef spot. We ordered a Chicago dog and an Italian beef, and split the two. The Italian beef was out of this world and the Chicago hotdog was the best Chicago dog we have had outside of Chicago. Our ten year old son enjoyed his plain hot dog with ketchup. The only negative was that when we asked for a refill on our pop, the young woman that waited on us said she didn't think they did refills. It was a sunny but windy and chilly day so we ate in our car, but I'd love to come back on a nice day and eat at the picnic tables that they have. We will for sure be back!

Inspired by watching The Bear on Hulu I decided to seek out an Italian beef sandwich near by. Matt & Mo's shares space with an ice cream shop in Hazel Park. The walk up window attendant was very nice and helpful answering all my questions. I ordered the Italian beef with hot & sweet peppers, dipped. I also ordered a side of fries with the honey sriracha & 1000 Island dipping sauce. It was a very good meal. The one thing I noticed about the Sando was the meat was a bit dry even though it was dipped. I did use some of the dipping sauce on the Sando and it was pretty good. I would go and try it again for sure. The peppers were good with the dipped bread and meat.

OMG awe LOVE this place!!! This has taken the place of our autumn cider mill tradition! The cider donut & pumpkin/vanilla cinnamon twist soft serve creations are TDF! And we always order wayyyyyy too much because I want to try it all! (It's ok- made it home and fed us the next day too!) My husband likes the half&half: hot beef and sausage sandwich, jus on the side (also comes with a marinara) & we both love the poutine. (Big ole cheese curds on there!) I'm a "mostly vegetarian " so I come for the desserts and OMG! (See pics). Couldn't decide between the cider donut sundae or the glazed donut sandwich so got them both, and honestly, both fantastic but I'll side with the sundae if I have to pick only one. (It made it home into the freezer and I ate it for breakfast today ) Bring your dogs too- they have Pup Cups for only $1- water's also only $1- which is so fair of them- With tip we spent $40- ordered online and it was ready exactly when they said it would be Tables out front that someone has taken the time to add beautiful mums and really make it feel welcoming and improves the neighborhood- you can tell they take pride in their business and it's appreciated by us all.

I finally got to try Toast in Ferndale for brunch!…read more The parking situation is a small lot behind the back and finding a spot on a weekend morning wasn't easy! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait a while for a table. But, Toast made it manageable with an outdoor waiting area where you can order drinks from the bar. By the way, the outdoor area is not fully insulated, just sectioned off with clear tarp, so it can still feel a little chilly. However, it was nice having somewhere sit and mingle instead of just standing around by the door. Now to the good part: My table ordered the trashy hashy, toast egg sammy, and a muddled strawberry vanilla iced matcha. I started off with the iced matcha and ended with the egg sammy with a side of parmesan grits. The matcha was a little watery but good. The sandwich was super flavorful but very messy. I had to ask for extra napkins after but the mess was totally worth the flavor! I can't wait to come back! I'll be prepared with reservations next time!

She responded that she already had, but I pointed out that there were still crumbs there. She seemed irritated, so I even offered to wipe it myself if she gave me the towel. She then asked me to show her where the crumbs were and wiped them off. Unfortunately, her attitude throughout the interaction was very rude and unprofessional. My sister then asked to speak with a manager. When the manager came over, the other ladies in our group also mentioned the waitress's attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the general manager became defensive and stated that the waitress did not have a nasty attitude. He then told us that if we wanted to leave, we could leave because he was not going to be bothered with us. He took our menus and asked us to leave simply because we requested that the table be cleaned properly. I would love to see better service and customers treated with respect! Ms Cheryl W.

We're bar sitters through and through, and between the bartender, a friendly regular who scooted over for us, and literally every person we interacted with, the vibe was unmatched. I worked in the service industry in a former life, so I know how rare it is to find a place where everyone is friendly. There's usually at least one Debbie Downer. Not here. No rushing, great recommendations, and zero feeling like you're "that couple" taking up bar space. Drinks and beer selection were solid, but let's talk food because ambiance and service are only half the equation. We started with the coney dog egg rolls and... wow. Epic. Unique. Immediately set the bar high. Then we ordered the fish and chips and the short rib sandwich. The fish was perfectly breaded, the remoulade was on point, and those skinny fries were dangerous. But the star of the show? The short rib sandwich. Holy shit. I don't normally eat onions or horseradish, but somehow this sandwich converted me. The caramelized onions weren't overpowering, the sauce wasn't spicy, and everything just worked. We literally woke up the next morning talking about how we need it again. The bartender filled us in on happy hour and all the food options, and we're already planning our return. Total hidden gem on Woodward. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great Saturday night!

Even just watching dishes hit the tables around us had me planning what I'm ordering next time. What's cool is I'm actually in the area pretty often on Sundays because I go to a laundromat nearby, and it always looks like they're hosting a really solid brunch crowd.
