Well what can I say.. this was a massive disappointment. I have heard for years how amazing the breakfasts are and all the hoopla about having to wait to get into the original location for hour long waits, I've seen the Triple D episodes and truly have wanted to try for a long time just kinda never happened. Well today was the day we went to the Glendale location mainly out of convenience. The restaurant looked closed upon pulling up and after entering only 1 other table in the place. We were greeted immediately and told to choose a spot. My wife and I got the hog and chick or chick and hog(whatever..) my egged were ordered over easy hers scrambled. My eggs even for over were way under cooked in the whites as you can see the clear fluid throughout the eggs in the pic. The bacon left a weird taste and coating in my mouth and honestly just not that great limp thick cut peppered bacon is never good. Both of our hashbrowns had obviously been sitting in the griddle since open as they consumed a large amount of grease and purely just poorly done. Pancakes were odd..slightly over done with a very weird texture (the syrup was great) my wife's sausage was very good. As you can see in one of the pics is all my food ready to be thrown out and barely eaten. Now a quick pointer if you ever and I mean ever see a guest meals like this the question should never be "may I get you a box" the question is a drill down question " was there something wrong with your meal?" All in all Matt if you're still even involved in your locations you might want to dive in a bit deeper because there is absolutely nothing that we experienced that would live up to your hype. read more

Don't think we'll be back to this Matt's location. Much better service downtown. Several waitresses walking around, but ours was inattentive. Didn't get refills on our coffees throughout our whole meal. Only checked on us once while we were sitting there. No kids menu, so I had to order my three year old items a la carte, which wasn't cheap. Food is heavily peppered, so if that's your jam, you'd enjoy it.. but literally everything was covered with pepper: bacon and hash browns, especially. Just not our thing. read more

We gave your place a second chance. We won't give it a third. No Sweet & Low or Splendor. No sugar free syrup for waffles. With all the diabetics in this world and you don't for sugar free syrup. You state that everything is freshly cooked. If that's the case I don't understand how the potatoes were burnt because they were on the grill too long. They weren't cooked to order. Another thing. Why don't you have regular bacon. You use so much pepper on your food it kills the taste. There is a lot of room for improvement!!!!!! read more

I've been by this place many times and never stopped. I'm not sure why I didn't try it sooner but that is my loss. I was very happy when my mom and I went there. It is not a big place, so a Saturday or Sunday morning could get busy. They have some classics plus some very healthy options. Everything is made to order from scratch. Got into town, excited about a big breakfast. Did some research found this place near the airpark. We ordered the fresh OJ, which was good. The waffle was good but small. The egg sandwich was thin but had a huge bun. Service was so so. All glass Lea and plates still on the table dirty when we left. Overall, not impressed and we won't be back. read more

This is a one-off of the classic "Matt's" in downtown. It lives up the elder's reputation for great breakfasts with prompt service. The eggs benedict special was fantastic, with good service in a comfortable setting. They have a pricy Bloody Mary that just about constitutes a meal in itself with protein included. read more

So I've been to the downtown location, and in every catagory, I was very disappointed at that location. At this location, I had another poor experience. I was seated outside literally 3 feet from the door, and the constant flow of people was definitely distracting from enjoying my breakfast. In addition, the bench seats are not padded, and when you lean back the frame of the glass pokes you in the back making it very uncomfortable seating. The food was sub-par. I ordered the pork chop and eggs. The eggs were over cooked, the hash browns were obviously left on the grill too long, and were hard. The pork chop was dry and tough. The service was poor. I had to ask for the one and only refill on my coffee. When I was finished and ready to pay the bill, it was obvious the waitress was not going to take the payment at my table. After waiting way too long for her to do so, I ended up having to take my check to the front register. When I very quietly made mention of my unpleasant experience, the waitress's only response to me was, "you have a nice day, sir." Needless to say, I won't be back to Matt's big breakfast at either location. read more

Food bland. Had omelette with mushrooms and onions. Mushrooms marinated/oily and onion was tough onion skins marinated. Not tasty. Toast was good. Service was good, nice , cordial servers Ambiance ok - room crowded with a couple to many table and chairs. Tough to maneuver around. Can't imagine what it would be like with a bunch of people. i've heard a lot of good things about this place and was excited to try. i took my brother with me to get breakfast together and right off the bat i got a weird feeling. We walk in, no one greets us. there's a host stand to the right of the entrance but no one is there, there are no signs indicating whether or not we seat ourselves, just standing there uncomfortably for about 2 minutes before someone acknowledges us. we get told to sit where there are menus so we picked a table and sat down. i understand their service model is "everyone serves you" and there is no singular person assigned to you like most restaurants, however i think this leads to bigger problems. because if "everyone is responsible" then i think the mentality goes to "someone else will get them" which i think leaves guests feeling unattended. the first waitress was kind of quick to get our drink orders, which was fine. but then we sat there for about 20-25 minutes without anyone checking in or taking our orders. two tables were sat after us and they were serviced immediately and got their food before us. i'm not sure if it's because they were white and we weren't, but it sure felt kind of hostile and uncomfortable during our stay. the food itself tasted fine overall, but didn't look too appetizing. the water was really gritty and didn't taste good, left a disgusting feeling in my mouth. for the two of us it cost $33 for just the entrees, no drinks which isn't a terrible price in this economy, i just wish i got more food for $16. read more

We've heard such good things about this place, so decided to try it. Either we hit them on a bad day or it just did not live up to the hype. They have some off-brand cola, which was horrible, and still the price of name brand cola products. Come on, just get coke or Pepsi. We got the Hog and Chick (which is your basic eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast), and the waffle w/bacon. The hashbrowns were so greasy you could wring the grease out of them and the sausage was nothing to write home about, other than a little hot spice, not much flavor. The waffle was good, but the bacon (thick cut) didn't taste like bacon--peppery, but no salt---Really lacked flavor. For $40, guess we expected better. Very disappointed and we won't be going back. read more

Today had to be the worst day at this restaurant. I had the most negative experience ever. I almost never had to write a review but just know the waitresses supplied almost zero customer service and the manager is a fucking joke. I go to Matt every other week for the past ten years. I received my check four minutes into getting my food. Not to mention the table wasn't cleaned off at all because I had bread crumbs and food residue on my elbows. Disgusting. The whole time not one person came to check on my wife and I nor attempted to even fill water after sitting empty for thirty minutes. Spoke to the mama her, no sincere apology, just zero sympathy. If the owners of this business reads this, you should seriously take this to heart because you didn't bust your ass from the past to build up Matt's this way. Stopped in for breakfast today with my husband. I was excited when I saw the special on the board of eggs Benedict as that is my favorite breakfast, but we had not seen it on the menu online. So it felt like it was meant to be. We were told to sit anywhere we liked and got menus and our drinks pretty quick. Sadly that is when the quick service ended. It took them a good amount of time to come back to get our order, then once the order was placed about 15+ minutes before it arrived. As we weren't in a rush this was okay with us. My husband opted to try the Bog Daddy Burrito and I obviously went with the eggs Benedict. Sadly my eggs were raw (clear and white wiggly on the inside, which I could not eat). I did tell our server and she took it right away and asked for new ones. Surprisingly it took another 15+ minutes for the new order to come out. (It took so long another waitress brought us the check and asked my husband if he wanted a box, since he was eating his slowly so he could eat some of it with me.) It finally came out and it was no raw at all. Sadly it was not poached either and the yolks were nice and hard on the inside. I ate it but I can understand why they don't have this on their regular menu. As for my husbands burrito he said it honestly tasted like they just put salsa verde in it, he was not too impressed either. Sadly the lack luster service and meh food won't have us coming back. read more

Was not impressed at all with the food. The omelette. Was nothing to brag about, there was nothing to it. Just like two eggs (if it was even two eggs) cooked and folded in half. Hashbrowns were cold and tasted liked crap. I will say the sourdough toast was very good, but you only get one slice. For what an omelette cost I would have thought you would get two slices of toast. Coffee was good I will never eat again. For the price it wasn't worth the stop. Much better places around area with better portions and better prices and get more. read more

Holy disappointment! I've been wanting to go here for months. The first time, I went in just to get a busicuit, I was told I couldn't get just a biscuit, I had to buy the whole special. Which was biscuits and gravy with I believe the side was sausage. I just want biscuits. I dont like gravy and don't want sausage or bacon. A month or so later we met up with friends for breakfast. 4 adults and 2 kids, and no one left semi full (not cause we are fattys, but because we didnt eat a quarter of the food) or semi satisfied. read more

Tried two different locations over the years, disappointed both times. I've never seen a place that gets so much hype that is completely below the competition (actually cold beer and cheeseburgers too, but I digress). This place is like food you would make at home, but I don't mean that as a compliment. It's super boring and average. This place doesn't make sense. IHOP is literally better, I wish I was joking. No biscuits and gravy (what???), no benedicts, no chilaquiles, no oat milk... Just no real options. It confuses me how Matt's is so popular when literally EVERYWHERE ELSE is so much better. This place is a small ambience type place which is nice when you walk in. Seated pretty quick and waitress to us pretty quick. You get food and drinks very quickly. But that's where the good stops. Food is OK as they are really trying to be a unique breakfast place by doing different things that really don't go well. Not great though. Then, never see the waitress again. A different waitress brought our check while I watched our waitress sit and talk. Asked for water for my son about 3 times and still never got. Service sucks and prices are way too high! This place was Matt's Big Disappointment: 1) Service was extremely slow, when we arrived there were open tables but took the hostess who was texting forever to seat us, seemed the servers did not want to be there and took it out on customers. 2) Coffee looked more like tea, must have been watered down, tasted very weak. 3) Everything was bad, we had the breakfast burrito with chorizo/rancheros sauce. Chorizo lacked flavor and it was a light tan color, wondered if it was actually chorizo, rancheros sauce had a sweet taste, not how l like rancheros sauce. Well I went to lunch here and there was hardly any cars in parking lot. Menu was very small for a breakfast/lunch place. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich that came with "kettle chips" and then went to the women's washroom to wash my hands. I felt like I needed to wash my hands after using that bathroom! Some garbage on floor. One of the two rolls of tp was completely empty. And you just know no one has been checking up on cleanliness of the washroom since they opened this morning. As a former food microbiologist, if the washroom isn't tidy then either is their kitchen. The sandwich was sad, no flavor on way to big of bread slices. And the bread was very dry. The chips were just some Kroger brand I'm sure. Staff was nice! read more

We've driven by for months after the sign went up announcing their opening soon. Finally it's here. What a disappointment. One and done for us. We both ordered our meals eagerly anticipating a good breakfast option since there are not to many out this way. I got the waffle which was good. Grateful to have Maple syrup! Have to say the bacon was a real bummer. Absolutely no taste. We ordered it crispy and it was. But just no flavor. Would not have guessed it was bacon. Nothing like the bacon at first watch. Coffee was interesting as well. Blindfolded I'd be hard pressed to know it was coffee. Eggs were good at least. My wife loved the toast. But the jam(?) was a letdown. She wanted me to try some because she wanted me to verify her taste buds. Bland. Service? Where? If you don't like the job don't make our time together miserable. Smile, life's to short. I've been to the original location in Phoenix, the upgraded location in Phoenix, the airport location and now the Arrowhead location. Each location had its different characteristics, but the one thing I've found consistent is the food. We ordered the waffle and chicken sandwich and they both were very good, per usual.
