We've been wanting to try Matt's for a long time. Finally made it this morning. Cute place inside and the wait staff is friendly. I got the weekend scramble with ham, which was just OK and a bit greasy. My wife got the cheese omelet which was good and nicely cooked. The has browns though were grayish. We asked the waitress if that was normal. She checked with the kitchen and they said that's normal this time of year. I'm not a potato farmer, but I've never heard of seasonally gray potatoes. The Bloody Mary was heavy on the Worcestershire and light on the Tito's. The cheese garnish also had a refrigerator taste. The place is welcoming. The people are very friendly. The iced tea is a Caribbean Tea. I ordered the weekend special scrambled eggs with chorizo, cheese and jalapeño and hash browns. The tea was wonderful. My food was less than good. The eggs were lacking flavor, all I could taste was the jalapeños and hot sauce that I added. The hash browns were grey. They said it was because of the butter used to cook but I have my doubts. The brought me out home fries which were very flavorful The sourdough was good and the blueberry jelly was good. This is actually a 3.8 rating. I loved my avocado toast, but my husband was disappointed with his tasteless boiled potatoes and his almost $6 glass of OJ. If you're a breakfast potato lover, I would not recommend potatoes here, I tried his - I agree... blah. However, we were seated promptly, orders were taken quickly and multiple people checked in on us. Their bacon was meaty, again - I loved the avocado toast and ordered egg whites ($2 each). They cooked my husbands egg perfectly. I enjoyed their salsa - it was delicious. I would go back and not order the country potatoes, but I would try their hash browns - I wouldn't pay almost $6 for OJ either. I'm little late to the party, but this is their newest location. All Matt's locations are very consistent. I met a friend here and ordered their Hog & Chick. Bacon is so yummy, thick cut and seasoned nicely. Country fries are pan fried and absolutely delicious . It also came with toast which rounded out this hearty breakfast perfectly. They make this sound like it's going to be something fantastic and really it is just a cookie cutter breakfast restaurant with not a lot of choices that serves mimosas. Everything was bland including our waitress, the place look like it could have used about five more tables in it. I really don't know what they were thinking when they designed this place. Our food came and it was very good. My waffle was tasty, bacon done perfectly. My friends omelette looked delicious as well. The service was quick and efficient- but, not the most friendly or welcoming. All in all it was okay- but, a bit disappointing after all the hype I had heard or maybe there is just more competition with breakfast places than they originally contended with in their beginnings. We're in Surprise, so this Matt's location is far closer than any other. Overall, I thought the experience was consistent with the Downtown location I frequently visit. I got the Five Spot which is easily one of my top favorite breakfast sandwiches (second place only to Vovomeena's). The space was large and didn't feel as tight as the downtown location, plus there's plenty of free parking. The staff was friendly and attentive. read more

First timers. Come on a weekday midmorning with the hubby. The do shared service which is nice, but when we walked in the servers were all on their phones - another customer told us we could sit anywhere. Just wanted a soda -- nope. They don't have the normal Coke/Pepsi products. Saved me money with just water to drink. Servers were pleasant. I opted for biscuits and sausage gravy special and hubby got a cheese omelet with mushrooms. The food was delicious. Man the home fries are amazing! Toast that is actually toasted is hard for most, they nailed it!! We will be back for sure...questionable start to the visit but ended great!! The menu is somewhat limited for breakfast. I was thinking this would be all breakfast and have lots of options but not so. The lunch menu is about the same size. They don't have sparkling water, soda, or many drink options. Service was fine. The breakfast burrito was HUGE and very flavorful but also a bit too spicy with green chiles. I worked downtown for years and the wait was always so long at the location downtown I never made it to check them out. I've always regretted not just waiting and being late to work ha ha. Today my son and I decided to drive over to this location in Glendale for some breakfast. I was surprised to find it easy to find parking and even better we had no wait to be seated. The menu is small, but everything is fresh. My go to is typically eggs Benedict, but it looks like it's only a Thursday special here. Another go to is blueberry pancakes. We scored there and my son and I decided to share a stack since we both wanted the Hog and Chick meal which is two eggs with a choice of meat ( I chose bacon), hash brown and toast. Everything came out so quick and looked phenomenal. The bacon was thick, peppered and amazing! My eggs were cooked perfectly. The hash browns were fried well and the sourdough toast was delightful. It was thick and the melted butter made it even better. The toast was served with strawberry compote. The pancakes were fluffy and nearly ate them all. We were so full by the end. Service was ok but could've been a bit better. It was pretty slow to get a refill etc, but when the server came around she was friendly and gave us her attention. The vibe was good. Pretty basic breakfast stop, but bright and doesn't feel as small of a location as it really is. Prices were fair and even with the extra stack our bill came out to about $40 before tip. This was our first and last time visiting this Matt's Big Breakfast location. It was one of the most expensive breakfasts we've had at $40+tax for 2 meals and 1 coffee. This was BY FAR the worst breakfast we've ever had too. As others said the hash browns were inedible with a green tint to them, hard and tasted like they were cooked days earlier. The poached eggs were also hard with no flavor, you could tell they were cooked in a plastic cup in the microwave. The bacon and sourdough was the only edible items on my plate, although the jam (preservatives) had zero flavor. The burrito consisted of hamburger patty, too much cheese and hardly any eggs and tasted beyond terrible. I wish I taken pictures to share, we left eating less than 25% of our meal, we only eat that because we were hungry. read more

Cold potatoes ... so make em crispy....then the hostess/waitress that took my order arrived oblivious to the issue.... so I explained ..she delivered the bowl of burnt potatoes to my table. I politely refused them.... as a breast cancer survivor I will not eat burnt anything. She brought the bill and snotty said she removed the potatoes... which I didn't eat anyway? Then I explained that the other waitress had requested them crispy (my husband heard it when she went to the kitchen to re order them) she scoffed and said that they serve them that way always do.. and sorry I didn't like them... again I said your food needs to be to temperature.... plain and simple¡! Oh and no gloves on in the back cooking area either gross..... and it was my first and LAST visit to them. Pre cooked item and just heat? And rude, deflective and argumentative wait staff.... keep it i will get same or better at McDonalds without the fight. Wow. This sure was a surprise. We came here on a whim for breakfast, and were absolutely blown away by how good it was. Everything seemed extremely fresh and handmade- even the spread for the bread had big plump berries in it, and wasn't super sweet. it's funny how reviews can be so far apart in opinions. My first visit today might've been the most expensive breakfast I've ever had at $26.50including tax and possibly the worst breakfast I've had in quite some time. As one prior commenter suggested, the hash browns were hard, cold and greasy and impossible to cut with a fork .The breakfast consisted of hamburger patty, (equally greasy) two eggs, hashbrowns, and sourdough toast plus a coffee. All this gourmet dining for only $24.00. Table was sticky and smelled unclean. Perhaps wiped with a filthy towel. I could go on, but that would be overkill. read more

I have been to other Matt's and I have to say this one is the best one yet. Came after a doctor's appointment on a weekday. Service was good, food was good, but a weird selection of soda. I have been to the downtown location as well as Scottsdale. There is a major chasm of quality of service and food. The person that told us to wait cleared a patio table. Our party of four all noticed the area had not been swept or cleaned for quite some time. We asked for the overhead heaters to be turned on and told that they had not worked for "months" which made no sense since our cooler weather just begun. We asked for biscuits and gravy and told that was only served on Tuesdays. The mimosa was 90% orange juice (tasted more like Tang) and the server had no idea what a basted egg was. There is a desperate disconnect of continuity of quality. It's a lot of money and certainly not worth it. The final straw was setting up for a large party of about 16 women and they blocked off the exit to leave the patio area, which is a fire hazard. read more

Underwhelmed. This was our second visit, the first being at the original location. I had a chorizo burrito bowl and it was completely lacking in flavor. I'm not sure how that's possible since chorizo is usually fairly strong flavor on its own, but adding Tapatio didn't really improve the situation. Also, when you order it as a bowl, you do not get the green salsa which I think is what makes that entree sing. I just did not enjoy it enough to make a third attempt. read more

Excellent food, lots of choices, clean friendly place to eat inside and outside. The service was great, we ordered eggs over easy with hash browns and sausage. Plus my husband ordered Blueberry pancakes to share. They were absolutely delicious plus they gave us macerated strawberries for jam on our toast. The jam was the Bomb! We added that to our pancakes, extremely delicious! We highly recommend! I would have given a 5 star rating but the sausage was a little salty. This place sucked. 1) The service was slow and inattentive 2) The coffee tasted watered down 3) All of our food was cold when it got to us, except the burrito that we had watched sit under the heat lamp for about 12 minutes before being brought to the table. 4) The beans in the burrito and huevos rancheros (daily special) were undercooked and hard. Been waiting to try this spot when things calmed down a bit after their recent opening. 9am Saturday they were pretty packed but I was committed to trying. Pleasantly surprised patio immediately available. Was greeted by a server I had at another local breakfast spot. Matt's scored with her. Hope it's a great fit for all because she is very sharp and professional. Inside very square and immediate. Smaller than expected. Too compressed for me. Patio has a great nook vibe. Was very happy to eat out there. View of trash not ideal but flowers and rest of vibe great. Waitress was very pleasant. Quick to help and accommodate. Only two food drawbacks iced tea had a different flavor...I really like standard Lipton...and the ketchup while I'm sure healthy not the greatest taste. I was particularly impressed by the taste of the omelet.,,quality ingredients make ALL the difference...and the bread while intimidating to look at was a rusk JJ fantastic. Intimidating because it was so thick I thought it was multiple pieces stacked like standard diner fare. And it looked too hearty and healthy to be tasty, but it was actually quite delectable! I easily got 2 meals (took half home) out of my 18$ including 20% tip meal. I'm impressed with this Matt and what appears to be a sound business model. Nice addition to the neighborhood. And if you can't handle the wait you can always much on a Dunkin' donut from next door in the meantime-ha!! read more

Let me rave. Moved to the valley in 2005. Lived far, far away from Matt's Big Breakfast and kept hearing friends, locals and even a Guy Fieri scream how good this place was, but I live in the west valley, a food desert for the most part compared to the rest of the county and always wanted to try it, but it was seeing that Arrowhead has been awarded this amazing place that we made a special detour and had a great experience to boot. First off, they have great service. Everyone pitched it to make certain all the tables were happy. I saw everyone helping others. How rare. Second, they had fresh squeezed local orange juice. It just tastes better. Wife had the waffle with thick bacon that she adored. I had the delicious Avocado Toast with a poached egg on a whole grain bread. It was so damn good...and it was considered On the Light Side of the menu! All I can write is "Get it." It was busy and they probably could double the space and maintain that quality, but it is a great feeling in 2022 to have a fantastic restaurant experience. read more

Wanted to try somewhere new. Reviews we're better than our experience. The food was greasy and the cheesy omelette presentation and taste was a 1 out of 5. I got a sandwich- it was okay. Pretty basic with some spread, this was a $16 sandwich, and I could've made some thing even better at home. It included pickles with my sandwich, and the pickle was a dark green/grey color and it didn't taste good. On the menu at said, fresh lemonade, either their water is bad or they did not use fresh lemonade. If I'm being completely honest, it tasted like a lemonade packet. Wont be back - Didn't eat much of it, it was that bad- and definitely was not worth $50 read more

I decided to go with my friend and try Matt's this morning and glad we did. Very clean, nice atmosphere. The breakfast menu isn't 3 pages long but something for everyone. Our waitress Alicia was so nice and made our morning. The coffee was delicious. I ordered the cheese omelette and my friend had eggs and sausage, we both had hash browns and sourdough.
