$300 for an estimate? If you guys didn't want to come out that's all you had to say instead of some BS like that

I moved out of my house for a remodel that would take 4 months if I was out or six months if I stayed. Four months into the remodel we didn't have permits due to a plumber losing his license. After 11 months I moved back into the house. Still can't seem to get the final items done. Lots of unfulfilled promises and dates but, one year in we can't get the last few items done. Work quality is good if they show up. I am disabled yet can't get my shower grab bars installed. You'll probably need to hire someone else to complete the job. They seem to lose interest in the project. read more

After a tumultuous 14 months of construction, the upgrades and renovations are complete.  The speed of the project was completely dictated by the inept city of Tamarac building and permitting department. The manner in which the department processes permits is beyond absurd.  It took months to approve permits and 3 weeks to assign a fee to the permits, further delaying the project.  The inspectors that are employed by the city have vastly different standards, which add to the delay of the process. Matt Beth construction handled the situation with the highest level of class.  Yes, there were minor hiccups on-site, and Matt was eager to correct these hiccups.  If you are looking for a reliable and professional contractor, then look no further, MattBeth LLC is the contractor for you. The completed renovation was far better than I could have expected.  Matt always answers his phone or calls you back with a very quick time-frame.  If Walter or Juan are on-site, know that you are in for the best and smoothest experience, they truly treat you like family. read more

"I rarely review businesses and particularly do not do it when the result is negative, However, when they claim they would be there on 2 TWO separate occasions and do not bother to call either time, I must warn others- they are an Amazon contractor and cancelled twice after I scheduled my day around their work. I fired Matt in the middle of the job. The cabinets he did install have started to peel after just a couple weeks! Poor service and subpar materials were the hallmarks of my kitchen remodel. A 8-week project took over 6 months. We all got sick from his workers disregard for our health. Moreover, my mom did not live to see the project completed. Stay away from these guys!!! read more

I can't comment on the Quality of his work but will on Business Ethics. Went to contract with Mattbeth Construction and due to unforeseen circumstances including some expenses not covered within estimate, we cancelled within 24 hours. Matt said he understood and would send us our deposit back. After a week I contacted Matt and he said he will put check in "today's mail." After several more days he told me that if I didn't receive check by the next day he would deliver a Certified Check that evening. Matt never showed up and when I contacted him, he said he forgot and was now out of town and on a two-week vacation. Even though he told me he mailed the check, he never did. After two weeks I again had to initiate contact and he finally dropped off a Certified Check 29 days after cancellation. However, he deducted $400 from my deposit for "work already done." We went to contract and in less than 24 hours cancelled. Maybe if Matt had mailed or delivered my refund within a reasonable time and outlined what "work was performed" to quantify the $400 deduction, it wouldn't have came to this negative review. 29 Days to receive my deposit refund is unethical. read more

Never thought I would say this about a contractor, but I actually can't wait for the next home renovation project with these guys. From the free estimate down to the actual work, Mattbeth was extremely knowledgeable about all things construction--instead of just saying "oh yeah we can fix that" like the others do---he actually shows you and explains each step in detail of what's needed, why, and the associated costs. I never once had to worry that 1--if they would show up (they always did, and were consistently responsive by phone/email/text), 2--if the job was getting done, and 3---if the job was getting done correctly the first time. Matt, the president of the company, was honest and straight forward from the beginning of the free estimate--even suggesting ways to shave off our budget where we could by using different people. One could argue that you can find cheaper labor, although their prices are very fair and reasonable--but it's worth the extra dollar to sleep easy knowing my house is safe, secure, up to code and built correctly. Dealing with an honest team who start when they say they will and finish on time (which has never ever happened to me before) is literally priceless. Which is why I'm using them again, even if there is always cheaper labor around--in this case, money can buy you peace of mind and the least stressful construction experience possible when it's from these guys--which you cannot get with the other contractors--the ones who are cheap but mysteriously disappear on you, put in an electrical box backwards and exposed in a wall due to a faulty cabinet, leave you with cracked tile 6 months after poor installation, etc (all of which has happened to me with other people with the most outrageous excuses). I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with MattBeth Construction, LLC over the past week. I scheduled the replacement of two toilets through Amazon.com with this service provider for today (Monday, May 9, 2016). In order to be able to have the jobs performed, I took time off from work to be at home during the scheduled time (11AM-2PM). Since I live in a high-rise condo building in downtown Miami, I needed to have the permission of the management company in order for the contractor to be able to come in and do the requested work. And in order for the management company to grant this permission, they needed certain documents from the contractor (licensure, proof of insurance, etc.). All of these requirements were made known to the contractor last week, and all necessary paperwork was emailed to them by that Wednesday. However, after following up with them on Thursday (at which time the administrative assistant seemed like she had completely forgotten about the needed documents) and again today (the day of the appointment), they still had not submitted what was needed in order to be able to do the work. Today at 3:30PM after waiting all day for them (and missing work in order to do so), they finally told me they had submitted everything that was needed but couldn't come today because they would not be finished in time to comply with my building's policy of being finished with all work by 5PM. I spoke with the owner of the company and asked him to discount the service for a rescheduled appointment. I had wasted an entire day away from work waiting for them to come do the job they had agreed to do TODAY, and I would have to do so AGAIN! And ultimately, they were unable to accomplish the work they had agreed to do because of their inability to provide the needed documentation on time. He simply refused to consider it because in his mind they had done nothing wrong - it was the fault of the insurance company for not getting them their proof of insurance fast enough (and why doesn't MattBeth Construction, LLC just have that on file in their own office?). So take it or leave it, reschedule or don't - he didn't really seem to care. In my experience they were disorganized, completely reactive and slow to respond, and demonstrated no concern whatsoever for the value of my time as a customer. Moreover, they took zero responsibility for the delays that ultimately led to the work being canceled for today, instead shifting blame to their insurance company's supposed slowness and disorganization. Frankly I find that sort of behavior incompatible with running a service-oriented business and am amazed they have only positive reviews on Yelp (until now) based on how I was treated by both their scheduling administrator and the owner of the company. Well, there's not that many reviews here in all, and they do have some age, so my advice would be to look elsewhere for the contracting work you might need. read more
