Beware of Matthew R. Wimmer DMD, PC. They are overpriced and do not guarantee their service. I recently went in for a sore gum, they took an XRAY, poked around for about 5 minutes, charged $248 and did me no good at all. The gum still hurts. When I called to let them know they just said come back but would charge me again for looking at my gum. Clearly a place that is just interested in billing, not the health of your mouth. I've been going to Dr Wimmer since he took over this practice many years ago. I drive farther with his move to the Arapahoe location but I don't mind because of the great treatment I get there. Joanne greets everyone with warmth. She's very knowledgeable and always helpful with scheduling. Dr. Wimmer has hired a caring and professional team. I love the VIP plan for my yearly cleanings and xrays. Dr Wimmer is very personable and seemingly up to date on the latest technologies. When possible he gives alternatives to problems. Dr. Winner's practice adopted me when my Dentist retired about 3 years ago. I do not have Dental insurance, but they have this grade VIP plan where you pay an annual one time fee and you receive two visits, two cleanings and one set of x-rays. You also see Dr. Wimmer, at each visit and he performs a thorough exam. He also has several Hygienists who all do a great job. Joanne will greet you at the front desk with a smile! The only complaint some people have is the access is a little difficulty being on a busy corner at Broadway and Arapahoe, but that will change in 2020 as they will have a new were larger and more accessible facility. Nope. Don't do it if you value your teeth. My Dentist of over a decade decided to retire out of the blue and I received a letter in the mail saying that my file was transferred to Dr. Wimmer. Well so, I went to the his office for cleanings for two years and not once did I see Dr. Wimmer, much less meet him. Why am I giving my business to someone who couldn't care less about meeting his patients? THEN, my husband was going to them and they pulled a perfectly good tooth!?!?! Once I heard this, I called a new Dentist the very next day. He's wonderful and we love him. Not only do I see him but we (gasp!) talk every time I'm there. Imagine that. read more

A few times my Insurance has over paid and it is always expressed to me and then carried over to future treatments. They are so ethical and personable! I would not recommend Dr. Wimmer's practice. I recently had an appointment that had to be rescheduled twice in one week because of equipment issues. That is fine, that is out of their control. But when I rescheduled, I confirmed my appointment would be with Dr. Wimmer. I did this because in the past they switched out dentists on me without notice and I prefer continuity and had told them that directly. At my appointment last week, I was told after my x-rays and during the cleaning that the Dr. had left the office early and would not be examining my teeth, and that no other dentist was present. I find it completely unacceptable that a dental cleaning and exam doesn't include an exam by a dentist. The office seems to think that the issue is mine alone and that plenty of people get cleanings without exams. If I had been told that would be the case, I would have certainly rescheduled. The dental hygienist took photos of a questionable tooth, but indicated that there did not appear to be decay in her opinion. The dentist thinks there is decay (based on a photo). Maybe this is why a dentist is supposed to do exams in person, not by photo?!?!?! The hygienists have always been very nice and very competent. There is a lot of turnover -- I think I've had 4-5 hygienists over several years. I'll be finding a new dentist! read more

I've been going here for a couple years now. It's a very nice experience and I very much like going to the dentist. They've always been very good about rescheduling me when I have to move an appointment. I've had the same hygienist since I've been going and she's great. I have "white coat" syndrome so my blood pressure goes up every time I visit a doctor. She always freaks me out about it so that's why I'm giving a 4 instead of 5 stars. Plus they are at a busy corner and parking is tight. I'd still recommend though. read more

Dr. Wimmer and his staff are the best--efficient, personable and they really put me at ease. Doesn't hurt that Dr.Wimmer is fully credentialed and makes me comfortable with his confidence and capability. The office is very nice and located in a great location for the southwest side of town at Arapahoe Road and Broadway. Everyone at Dr. Wimmer's office was great. This was my first visit to the office but from the moment I walked in all of the staff was super friendly. I could tell that they take the time to get to know their patients since the person at the front desk was talking to one of the patients in the lobby about their pets and family members. Dr. Wimmer was awesome as well. Going to the dentist is something that I loathe but Dr. Wimmer was casual in talking with me and made me feel comfortable as he progressed through the procedure. After the procedure I got a regular cleaning from Candy and she was awesome. She explained everything that she was doing step by step and was asking questions to get to know me better. If you are looking for mediocre, average, or just typical service, then move on, this would not be the dental office for you. However if you are in search of a dental office that provides excellent, thorough, high quality dental care, then please do your self a favor a get an appointment scheduled! The location is easy to find in a stand alone building on the corner of Broadway and Arapahoe. Upon entering the office you will find a clean and modernly decorated space with extremely welcoming staff. Candy, the registered dental hygienist, took me back to get my appointment started. She introduced herself and told me a little about herself. She immediately engaged me in conversation like if we had been friends for years. She was extremely gentle, efficient and told me step by step what she would be doing, and above all explained why it was necessary. It turned out that they needed to do a procedure that was unexpected. The staff took the time to verify that my insurance would cover the procedure, to ensure I did not encounter any unexpected expenses. As Candy explained to me why this was necessary, she informed me of other treatments approved by my insurance, however in her professional opinion she did not believe that I needed that next level of care at this time, and felt it would be most cost effective going in this other suggested direction. I appreciated this discussion because they could have easily gone with the more expensive treatment to be able to collect more money from my insurance, however Dr. Wimmer's office is invested in meeting the true treatment needs of the patient, and as a result it was evident that their work ethic is top notch. Dr. Wimmer was also a delight. He was friendly, easy going and explained to me what the treatment plan would be moving forward and ensured that I understood everything and was in agreement. If you are looking for a dental practice that is ensuring their financial stability - you have found the place!! They disregard anything you have to say regarding your teeth; because they know what is best for their wallets. Want two toned composites - its the new trend, forget about matching your existing teeth color, (Yellow is so in) - not to worry; they will put fillings in all your teeth to match the new yellow tone they prefer. New fillings altered your bite - not a problem for just $300 they can realign your bite to adjust for the new fillings they just put in your mouth - need I continue. I can not believe Bruce Johnson actually referred his patient's to this practice; but not to worry they will be sure to tell you all about his short comings as a dentist. The staff was friendly but mislead me that my insurance would cover certain X-rays and then refused to work with me when I received a large bill for the X-rays. I tried this dentist because my dentist retired and recommended him. At my first visit, the hygienist suggested that I get extensive X-rays. I informed her that my insurance likely would not cover them and that I did not want the X-rays if they weren't covered. The hygienist left and supposedly called my insurance. She came back and informed me that the X-rays were covered. A few weeks later, I received the bill. When I called the office, they initially offered to split the bill in half for me. When I finally connected with Michelle, the accounts person, she said that the dentist himself refused to allow any discount because "understanding insurance benefits is the patient's responsibility." Given the full circumstances, this was poor customer service and there are plenty of good dentists out there who do not mislead patients to get services that they will have to pay for out of pocket. read more

It's hit and miss with this office. I too transferred there, as did my parents and adult children, when Dr. johnson retired. I am the only one still going there and am now here on Yelp, shopping around. The doctors are personable but I have had complications with each procedure so far. The office staff are friendly, but don't follow through on what they say they will do. The assistant Rosemary is flat out mean, although the hygienists are wonderful. read more

In a word, EXPENSIVE, and unwarrantedly so. I think this dental practice is struggling. The office was taken over from an older dentist who was very reasonably priced. Dr. Wimmer then remodeled. Now, predictably, and in leaps and bounds, they are passing on the cost to the clients. My spouse recently had his teeth cleaned, an exam, and some xrays to the tune of $240+, which is ridiculously overpriced!! Needless to say, we are looking for a new dental office. read more

My husband had his first fillings ever done at this clinic. After a month in pain, we went to a second dentist. He said that the fillings had not been packed deep enough with filling material and that to get my husband out of pain, they would need to be refilled. The new dentist even offered to fix one of the fillings for free. I called Dr. Wimmer seeking reimbursement for the other incorrectly done filling, and he offered to take a look, but my husband wanted nothing to do with Dr. Wimmer's clinic after being in pain for a month and being told fillings had been poorly done. Dr. Wimmer denied us reimbursement, meaning we'll have to pay out of pocket for the other filling to be repaired. Then we received a certifited letter dumping myself and my husband as patients. I had been going to this clinic for 12+ years. Dr. Wimmer's letter stated, "I feel that my treatment philosophy does not align with your expectations." My only expectation was for my husband's fillings to be done correctly. After the visit to the second dentist, we went online and saw other reviews from more than one person on more than one site stating they had fillings/procedures at the Dr. Wimmer's clinic that had been done incorrectly/had complications. It is ridiculous that he dumped me as a patient because I called to advocate on behalf of my husband. If you use this clinic for only cleanings, the techs are great, especially Candy. However, if you need further work done, I'd highly recommend visiting a different clinic. UPDATE: Our new dentist re-did the fillings and my husband is finally out of pain. read more

I didn't get a good impression of this place, and have found a dentist that I like far more. I went in for my first exam and cleaning. The cleaning was ok, but I never saw the dentist. Every dentist I've had before and since, The dentist makes an appearance for every exam, but I never met Dr. Wimmer. So I didn't really leave with any idea of the state of my teeth. They were just cleaner. Furthermore, I had a crown that was loose. I reported this to the hygienist, and she said I should call the next morning to have someone see me, since nobody was there to take a look at the time. She did tell me they were replacing their computer system over the next few days. I called the next morning, and waited 3 business days before I got a call back. By that time, I had already found and been seen by a new dentist. I just really didn't feel that they had any sense of urgency or concern for me as a patient, so I moved on, and feel much better about the level of care I am getting at my new dentist. read more
