I just called this salon to ask about pricing and I was told that "women's" cuts start at $75 and "men's cuts start at $55." I explained that I have very short hair and could I get a "man's" price for my cut. Evidently, that would be left up to the stylist, so probably not. I will not patronize a salon that uses pricing based on gender rather than degree of difficulty. Can you imagine going into a grocery store of restaurant and being charged more just because you are a woman? Yet, certain industries continue to justify gender price gauging. So sad! read more

I have super curly hair but have been getting it permanently straightened for years. After seeing old pictures of my curly hair, I decided that I wanted to get rid of my straight mane and chop it all off. I had been hearing about this deva cut that is especially made for curly hair. After searching and reading reviews of many salons in the lynnwood and Seattle area, I stumbled upon Matthew Robert Hair Salon and I'm SO happy I did. I met with Erin and she helped me choose a cut that was flattering for my curly hair and close to what I had in mind. I love the outcome. Conversation with her was great and I'll be sure to come back. The only bad thing is I was told the cut would be 50 over the phone but it ended up being 75. First time at this salon this weekend with Amanda for a Devacurl cut. Amanda changed my life! My hair has been very frizzy with some inconsistent curls and waves ranging from flat in some areas to ringlets in others. My whole life I've struggled with haircuts because I end up looking like a triangle and having to straighten my hair for things to fall in the right place. Amanda has showed me the ways!! She cut my hair dry to enhance my curl pattern and took the time to teach me how to care for my hair to eliminate the frizz and bring out more consistent curls/waves. Erin practically changed my life! For three years I've been dealing with wavy hair that appeared postpartum and just so blah. I made an appointment with her for a Deva Cut, after doing some research online and anxiously waited for my big day. It was an awesome experience! I was so nervous and anxious and to be honest I was putting a lot of power in Erin's hands ... or scissors. She showed me how to add product to my hair and discussed my current routine with me. And, when she revealed my cut and I wasn't sure what to think, she sat with me and made little cuts here and there until it finally laid with waves I have been hoping for!! I have been coming here for years now and it remains a great place. Recently Lindsey has gotten training in Devacurl and as a curly haired girl I was excited to see what the fuss was about. I did my research and showed up w/ my hair styled as normal. The Devacurl cut takes longer than normal, but I feel like my curls are more consistent now than ever! Lindsey has always been great with my curly hair, but this is bringing it to a new level. They also added Balayage which has been a nice change for my highlights. I won't lie I'm extremely OCD when it comes to my hair. So when my hair stylist of over 5 years moved away; I was a bit concerned with finding someone new I could trust. Me and my family have been going to this salon for years because Marsha is the only person my mom trusts with her hair. However after my most recent cut none of my family feel comfortable going to her again. I have been less than happy with her cuts the past few times, but this time I brought in the exact picture of what I wanted (a simple shoulder length, semi layered cut. Almost like a layered Bob) and she complained about how she hates bobs the whole time and she gave me a legitimate mullet. I am devastated and won't leave my house or have guests over without a hat. This place is wonderful! I've had my hair done a couple times now by the owner, Matthew. I had heard such great things about him that I let him do whatever he thought was best for me. He gave me the best cut I've ever had. He also understood that coloring my hair is something I can only afford once in a while and gave me beautiful highlites with forgiving grow out. He is an artist who loves his work and truly sees what will make you look the best you can. I've never seen someone so excited about styling my hair! This salon has the potential for being a warm and welcoming place. The staff is great, no issues there. The salon itself needs to be remodeled. The environment isn't warm, relaxing or welcoming. The hard wood floors are bare and the clatter of heels and voices from through out the salon is heard everywhere. The stylists stand on this hard flooring without any padding for their comfort. The interior of this salon is dated. The salon needs remodeling, updated and made to welcome their clients. The music at times is loud and more appropriate for a night club. The owner needs to visit other salons/spas to experience an environment that is warm, welcoming and one that makes the client feel relaxed and special. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Matthew Roberts Salon! It was a first time here and first hair cut and color since before Covid hit. The salon is in an old farmhouse and therefore has tons of room to social distance. They have hand sanitizer available and they sanitized the areas that were used when finished, like the hair dryer and wash basin. Julia my stylist and I were the only ones in the room accept when the owner Matt stopped my to see how things were going. Since I was a first time client they spent lots of time making sure of what I wanted and getting to know my hair and my needs. They scheduled in that time when I set up the appointment! I felt safe and pampered even though they said there parts of their regular service they were unable to provide due to covid 19 measures. She asked what type of hair style I like then I showed her the bob cut picture on my phone and she did a very good job. He is an artist, and loves hair. He really listens to what you want, your concerns, and recommends something that will fit your style and your life.
