I have been buying bikes from Matthews for years and always get them fixed at this store. Time permitting they can turn around a repair very quickly. Recently I decided to get more serious about cycling so I decided to buy a road bike. Scott helped me out and gave me lots of information about how to ride to be more efficient. He also explained the difference between riding with regular sports shoes and cycling specific. The knowledge imparted has changed the way I ride. I look forward to working with the people at Matthews bikes in the future. I am also looking into joining one of their courses during the winter to help become even more efficient with my riding. read more

Went there today to get a bike... Guy H. helped us and he was very knowledgable and quite helpful. Our son is 6'2" and 14 years old... Guy took the time to discuss where he rides and what he was using the bike for (training, rough terrain, or cruising) to determine the size and style that best worked for him. They seem to be very customer orientated. Everyone in the shop busy helping customers. They don't just let customers walk around the shop looking for someone to help. They let you ride the bikes to see if they like them. Very friendly staff. You can tell that because they engage their customers. I just wish they had more folding bikes and showed me how to fold the bike. But other than that, great shop. I'm glad I bought my business to them because other shops in Indy don't know customer service. read more

Matthew's was recommended to us because of their competitive pricing. Although their prices were the best we found, it was their service and the atmosphere that most impressed us. From sales to the service department, we were pleased with everything. Our experience began with 4 kids in tow and considering purchasing a bike for our 7 year old. Matt helped us by answering all of our questions, showing us different options (the selection was fantastic), and interacting wonderfully with our children! We spent a considerable amount of time in the store and genuinely enjoyed our time picking out not only a bike, but accessories as well. When we took two hand-me-down bikes to the service department to have checked out and prepared for the summer, we were even more amazed. We fully expected to pay for general service to both bicycles. Not only were we told the bikes were in good shape and did not need servicing, but Matt and another service tech actually did some minor service on the spot for no charge! This level of service has not been something we find often in any area of life. Not only was our son thrilled with his new bike, but the entire family had fun. For friendly bike shops and great mechanics loaded with helpful advice, it doesn't get much better than Matthews Bicycles! Men needn't shave their legs or forego eating prior to visiting this shop! The Matthews gang offers excellent customer service and sincerely helpful tips for even the most novice cyclists! Be careful, though. After a few visits to Matthews, you might (like me) find other stores and shops distasteful. You might become a regular Matthews loyalist - like me! I've never had a bad experience there. The service department is quick, efficient and friendly. The sales team is knowledgeable, helpful and always eager to help. One might find a better, deeper discount at a big box bicycle store. But, there's something very rewarding about supporting the independently owned shops. Hats off to Matthews Bicycles! After all, they remember my name when I visit! I have been searching for a bike that can be my commuter. I live in Meridian Kessler/Broad Ripple area and want to start biking downtown to work. I am a newbie in the biking world and didn't know where to start. The internet was leading me to a fixie bike but I really couldn't find enough information to make my decision clear. I went to- what I thought- every bike store in the city looking for the perfect bike. My neighbor told me to go to Matthews. I am so glad he did! After going to the other stores multiple times, I just never received the information I needed to feel confident in my purchase. One stop at Matthews and I walked out with a bike. Nothing seemed over priced. The employees knew a lot about their products. They took their time with me and we all knew each other by name by the time I left. By the way- they are a local company owned and operated by the same family since 1944. That just put the icing on the cake. If you are looking for a bike- check them out! read more

So I decided I needed to get my fat ass back on the bike, but after so many years off the bike, I had quite the shopping list. Generally I prefer to shop locally, but the local shop had no inventory so that was a failure. After a quick online search, I found Matthews. Although it's about a half hour drive - it was so worth it. Grabbed some new shoes and pedals, shorts, jersey, etc. Away home I went. Got home and discovered the shoes I loved weren't compatible with the pedals. So, a couple of days later headed back to Matthews...without my receipt. However, they remembered me and the exchange for new shoes was made....and they even put the cleats on for me. After I log a few more miles on my old bike, my plan is to get a new bike as a reward...think I'll be shopping at Matthews. The only downside is the distance from my house (that and the strip club across the street generated some awkward questions from the 12-year-old in the car!). read more

Just bought 2 Speciaized road bikes for my wife and myself. First, I went to 3 other shops, waited for service for at least 10 minutes so I walked out. I looked up reviews of Matthews and gave it a go. The reviews do not lie!! This place is, by far, the best bike shop in Indy!! Scott helped us and that guy is awesome...we are going back in a few weeks to buy a couple of cruiser bikes simply because our experience was top notch. Been going to Matthews for years! Bought my first bike from them and I've been on the road ever since. They have a wide selection of brands and types of bikes. Also a great selection of accessories and clothing! They have a very friendly and non-pressure sales staff! Scott and Graham are always available if you have questions! My wife and I are new to biking, and we were getting ready for a quick ride around town. We noticed that my wife's tire was flat. We took it to Matthews and they were extremely helpful. I bought a used bike a month ago from John and was very pleased. I have since purchased additional bike supplies such as a helmet, bike computer, bike pump and bag. Matthews Bicycles is a real gem, hidden away on Indy's east side. I was in the market for a flat bar fitness bike and read some of the reviews posted about Matthews. The reviews are very accurate. They have a great selection of bicycles ranging from Bianchi and Trek to Specialized and Marin as well as a few other quality brands. The prices and service are great! There was no pressure to buy, but when I did commit, Brad was very helpful with advice and allowed me to demo a few bikes on my short "wish list." Walked out of the store with a real steal--a Specialized Sirrus Sport with hydraulic disc brakes for less than I had planned to spend. And their tradition of sending you a personalized thank you note after your purchase is a nice touch. Wish I had known about them sooner. I would have purchased all of my bicycles from them. read more

We had a GREAT experience with Guy when purchasing our new bikes! I am fairly new to biking and I was completely unsure of the style of bike that would be best for me; I wanted comfort, but I also wanted something that could be ridden on any surface. Guy was so patient with me and allowed me to try different styles until I could narrow it down to what I wanted. He answered all my silly questions and explained things in a way that made sense to me; he even stayed after closing hours to ensure my fiancé and I received the bikes we truly wanted and needed.
