She had gotten them in the past for $1.50 to 2 dollars each. I'm guessing the tariffs have hit Michael's because they were up to nearly 4 dollars each. I can't blame Michael's. My discussed is aimed elsewhere. I would like retailers both online and brick and mortar to make a note of how much we are paying for tariffs. I think this would help prevent backlash against local shops. But I digress She found what she was looking for, and we started the self checkout process. Unsurprising, there were glitches at self check out. More proof that we need people The associate was so pleasant and informative and made the check out frustration plus not a minus.

I've looked in several places and couldn't find it. I asked a young guy what I was looking for and gave him trade names as options. Instead of a blank stare he walked me over to the aisle. There it was. I should have gotten his name. It's for orthotics. It's an arts and crafts store and much more. Their picture framing department staff can recommend matting and frames that will compliment your photo or whatever you need mounted. I read some reviews. True, it's a large store and some items aren't marked with a price. But, they do have a large inventory and not everything is based on an industrial usage. There are what used to be called rainy day projects for children. Maybe they'll learn motor skills and knowledge that could be considered transfer of training later in life. Icing a cake and applying plaster use similar tools and skills.

Yet, because it was only one minute after closing, the lady I believe was the manager refused to let me check out and said, "We closed 1 minute ago." Today is March 17, 2026, and this happened at 7:01 PM. I went to Job Lot just before closing and had a basket full of merchandise ready to purchase. At 7:01 PM, a lady who I assume was the manager came up to me and told me the store was closed. I politely asked if I could simply check out the items already in my cart, but she told me absolutely not because they had closed 1 minute earlier. If you review the security camera footage and timing, you will see that it was literally 7:01 PM. This Job Lot is only 2 minutes from my house, and I have been a loyal customer for many years. After the way I was treated today, I will no longer shop there. I also plan to share this experience with my friends, family, and Facebook community, because what happened was unprofessional, disrespectful, and very disappointing.

Unfortunately, they often function with one cashier so the line does tend to get long at any given time. Dollar Tree prices keep climbing but you can still get cleaning supplies, and most household goods for less than $2. Today I noticed some cleaning supplies, like brooms, mops and dusters priced at $1.50, while foil and plastic wrap are up to $1.75. I don't even head to the aisles marked at $3 and above because I remember when everything was truly $1. Makes you wonder at what point will they have to change their name to Miscellaneous items at Miscellaneous Prices Depot. I may be reaching.. The remaining cashier was still with a previous customer and remained so for a while. A line started to form behind me. Had the other cashier stayed and taken me, I would have been gone before the other cashier freed up and there would have been no one waiting. It wasn't due to lack of resources either. In the same room where the registers were, there were at least 2-3 other employees restocking things. I was really hoping for some east coast efficiency I miss so much.

Now having been a VERY regular and long time Marshall's shopper I can assure you the on site manager I dealt with was demeaning and discourteous for reasons passing understanding. To be perfectly frank, I believe the purchase was outside the 30 day refund policy. For that reason alone, I was willing to take a lesser amount as a store credit. That said, the shift manager, I encountered, wouldn't engage at any level. She stated that returns at this high of an amount ($49.99), wouldn't normally be considered full stop. Having worked retail for over 30 years and engaged with this store for the last 5-8 yrs I can assure you, she had no reason to react in the manner I experienced. After reading your online reviews, it's obvious this policy and perhaps even your inventory system has changed. If so, I would encourage work arounds that address the lack of transparency and most assuredly revisiting the training opportunity of customer relations within this location. I will attempt to return elsewhere as I believe the return to be dated well beyond the 30 day window. Perhaps another location would prefer the repeat business. Please note, while you may feel justified regurgitating policy with little or no effort toward civility, and acting as if your customer has wronged you, will only serve to decrease your market share and eventually challenge your performance.
