We ate at LaMotta's yesterday for dinner. The eggplant fries were burnt, hard, and tasteless. The pasta in the main course dishes was over cooked and mushy. The spaghetti sauce was extremely watery to the point that there was a layer of water in the dishes. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient but the food was awful. We will never go back there. Some places just don't get a second chance especially when you also realize that they charged you a 5% surcharge! Horrible place. read more

We had high hopes. I would say maybe as a carry out. Definitely not dine in. Very cramped. Our chairs were all bumping other patrons. No ice. Never had that before anywhere. Canned soda. 2 family members just opted for water and received glass bottles of water $5 each!! What?! We were not told this ahead of time. Took 45 mins to get 1 pizza. Some knots were good, others were hard as a rock. We were overcharged for our pizza toppings. You can't see the bill breakdown until after you pay. Pizza was fine and so was delivery time. However, we ordered a $14 appetizer of meatball lollipops and got charged for them only for them not to come with our order. I have told friends and family about this place and have given them my business numerous times. I called and told a worker how my appetizer was not brought with my two pizzas and he said his boss would call me later about it. It isn't an issue, we're all human.. but now it's been two days and nothing has been done. This place is a joke. Rude man who is sitting at the front of the restaurant is a poor excuse for a manager- place has no safety protocols and the orders take 2 hours to make. We went to LaMotta's for the first time today... Despite a couple negatives, we liked this place a lot and will definitely go back soon. There were only two servers for what became a full house on Sunday night. That made it hard to get the server's attention, but she was confident, professional, and funny. Maybe it was the Italian accent... I dunno. =) I had the Chicken Piccata, which was good but needed a little more zing for my taste. My wife had the Manicotti, which was outstanding! The sauce is a little sweet, just the way I like it. You get to choose soup or salad with your entree. My salad had iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, white onion, and carrots. The creamy Italian dressing had the kick I look for in all my food. Yum! My wife assured me that her Minestrone soup was very good. She remarked that, in addition to the normal stuff, it contained pasta and gnocchi! The bread served with our meals was good stuff! Not sure what to call them because they may or may not have had much garlic in it. I wasn't able to tell if it was just garlic powder or what, but it was tasty! And the texture was good too-- a little hard on the outside and kinda doughy on the inside. Good thing the service wasn't too good or I would have asked for another basket full! We ended the meal with a nice Tiramisu. I'm not a huge fan of the dish normally, but this was very good. All in all, we really liked it. The restaurant was *definitely* filled with a lot of gray hairs, but that's Fort Myers for you. There were lots of people ordering pizzas, so we will either do that next time or go with another tomato sauce based entree. The sauce is great! We enjoyed our dinner here. The big draw, as it is for so many places in Fort Myers now, are the coupons (such as buy one, get one free), and we were no exception. This inducement brought us in. We started with the Italian wedding soup and salad - both were quite nice. For dinner we had the Osso Bucco special and Veal Piccata, both with linguini. They were both decidedly above average and the pasta was al dente. Lovely. The waitress was clearly Italian, perhaps an owner, and she was very nice. The ambiance is just fine - sort of an upscale pizza parlor style, but with better that normal food. read more

Why is it, that I've been here so many times, and I've not written a review before? LaMotta's was one of the first restaurants I dined in, when I moved to Fort Myers (2011). This was when they had some monthly magazine at the counter to read; it was printed half in Italian, half in English, and all about "what's new in the world of Italy / the heritage". It was a neat paper! Outside of the magazine (and its disappearance), how is the food? Prices are comparable to local establishments, but I've got to say, the meals can be better then some of the other places that tote similar items. I've gone in for Chicken Parm meals that make you walk out feeling like you ate the world and can't think about your next meal (and that's a good thing!). The Cesar Salad is always a nice addition to the meal, especially when you pair it with one of the pies. Hey, you gotta get your veg on somehow with a pizza, right? Staff is always friendly and it can get quite busy there during season (when is it not in restaurants here during winter???), but it's worth going and waiting. read more

This restaurant never ceases to impress me. Have visited many times and have always received good quality Italian food. On my most recent visit I ordered a antipasto salad for 2. My wife and I were blown away by the quantity and quality of the fresh meats, cheese and dressing. The order was literally capable of feeding 4-5 people. Our hot dishes were similar in value and taste. This restaurant will never be praised for the ambiance but it belongs in top rated placed for good value and authentic italian food. I've been to other restaurants in SWFL claiming to serve Italian food, even fewer which are *not* a chain or restaurant-in-a-box. The review from a previous poster about the garlic powder is incorrect, some was sprinkled on, but there was also fresh cracked garlic on the rolls to.. I watched it sprinkled on as a new tray was being made when I had my family there on our last visit. In true family owned restaurant fashion, virtually everything is home made, made to order, and cooked by someone who has a vested interest in customers having the best food experience possible. True, the house wine is a 'gallon' jug type, but I have yet to see a restaurant of this type not have that as the inexpensive house fare. When we inquired for wine options a variety of wines imported directly from Italy were offered. Peroni beer is also offered for the beeroisseur who isn't to fond of the typical American fermentation offerings. The kids menu offers has several generously portioned options, the spaghetti and monstrous meatball being my boys favorite that has earned several return trips and future orders. Aside from being open 31 years in the same location and family ownership, the restaurant is very family friendly. It is a favorite location to meet other friends with family. Nobody feels rushed or leaves hungry. It is not uncommon for Chef Carmelo to visit tables, shake hands, and thank patrons for coming in or laugh and joke with the kids. read more

I ordered a pizza at 6:30 and received email confirmation that it would be delivered between 7:15 and 7:30. After not receiving my pizza, I called at 8:28 and the very polite man on the phone apologized and said that the driver was "caught in traffic" and was on the way. He said my pizza was 5 minutes away. (I live about 8 minutes away from the restaurant.) Finally got my pizza at 8:52. That's 24 minutes after I was told 5 more minutes. I was so looking forward to my birthday Sicilian roots on Sept. 4, 2018. I called for 3 days in advance to make reservations. All I got was a recorded message from Sophia that they were closed on Sun/Mon. I waited on hold for 30 min. and never connected. La famiglia e tutto. We still drove over from the NW Cape to find a note on the door hand written that they closed from 9/1 to 9/5. Why wasn't that message put on their phone message? Main ingredients left off chicago beef; no sausage so basically forgot half the meat. No fries on second order; a paid add on to a meal. Called the store when I got home and discovered the issue. Was placed on hold for a long time I guess hoping I'd go away. Called back, people we're extremely rude and cook argued with me saying they put the sausage on themselves when it clearly wasn't on there, or I ordered off an old menu... I ordered online and whats on the sandwich is clearly listed. I was offered no resolution or make good in any way from the staff who still insisted the order was correct when it wasn't. Clearly the place has devolved since the owner Carmelo left and any quality and customer service left too. There's tons of places to eat in the cape and fort Myers so unfortunately for Lamotta's I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on and suggest others do the same and let the failing restaurant pass into obscurity. read more

Our friends told us this was the best pizza they had ever had, so we had to see for ourselves. And we agree!!! They make the crust fresh every day and it is delicious. The toppings were fresh and generous. The medium is the size of most other restaurants' large. We ordered two mediums for 4 people, and had lots of leftovers (which still tasted great the next day). Maria is a genuine Italian waitress, and she loves to see people enjoy her food. I definitely recommend going to LaMotta's. I would like to try some of the other Italian specialties, but the pizza is so good, it will be hard not to order it again. Such a conundrum! read more

I am disgusted with the service I just received from the owner of this restaurant. I ordered to two pizzas to go, one cheese and one everything. I had a coupon for the cheese pie and the cost was only $9 which was great but the second pie was $28. I told him I was shocked at the price , and he took the pies away and told me I could just leave. I am so disappointed in the way I was treated and will never order from here ever again. We were it Ft.Myers a couple of weeks ago on vacation and went to LaMottas for dinner and I have to say what a surprise!! The food here is delicious!! I had a dish called A Taste of Sicily which is manocotti, lasagna and raviolis and it was wonderful. For me being brought up in a Sicilian household it's all about the sauce (gravy) as we call it. and it immediately reminded me of my mothers!! I loved it!!! Tried it,food was ok but I thought $54.00 for a Lasagna and eggplant Parmesan is a little costly.

We've been coming to LaMotta's since the mid 90's. The food has always been consistently delicious. One of our favorite entrees is the Osso Bucco. Every pasta dish we've had has been good as well.
