Made an appointment to have my brakes checked. Explained i just had new brake pads rotors and calipers and caliper brackets installed. Along with a new master cylinder and my pedal would still fade to the floor after holding pressure on the pedal for a period of time. They test drove it then proceed to tell me they have no idea what is wrong. And charge me $78.00 which is what I was quoted. Thats not the complaint all they did was tell me something I already new. I was expecting them to at least test the ABS module or the sensors. And I know this wasn't included in the so called inspection but they didn't even offer any suggestions. A couple of weeks back, I was leaving for out of town due to a family illness and when getting gas before the trip, I was having issues with getting the car started. Knowing I couldn't get on the road with a potential issue like this, I was going to go to my local dealer. Instead, I went to Matthews on College Avenue hoping they could get me in to find out the problem. Not only did they work me in right away, they discovered I needed a new battery, did the service and I was on my way to my trip in a little over an hour. The old we can't do a wheel alignment because Of a supposedly worn part oh ! And that will be $47 Bucks. UMmmm Excuse me how's that again ? How about informing the wheel alignment customers that if critically specific parts related to alignment are badly worn OR safety compromised there -- (may be \ can be \ will be) a $47 inspection fee . Not specifically those words of course but something to inform the consumer of an impending possible charge NOT oh we can't do the alignment 1 or more parts are bad and that will be $47 please. And it's the same inspection they or any Mechanic will do before every alignment anyway but if they don't align you pay $47 Bucks for the information. And by the way I installed the 2 parts in question about 4 -6 Months ago! Both MOOG Brand Parts. It was my very intelligent wife that took the Vehicle in and knew parts were fine. I just had 4 brand new tires installed on my 2012 RAM Laramie 1500. Good price, great installation. - Drew, at the counter took my payment and handed me two pieces of paper as my receipt. 10-12 minutes later heading north on 41 in the traffic and massive road construction, I thought, "where's my new tire warranty packet?" I called him and he stated that "I could come and get it " I told Drew, "I'm not wasting my time turning around, I want you to mail it to me." I live in Howard and had a 2 pm previously scheduled appointment. Simple mistake by Drew, I guess, but how does this logically occur? Two hrs of sitting and they "forget" to prepare my paperwork? The staff at Matthews goes above and beyond! The front desk staff are always so friendly and welcoming and greet you with a smile. I took my car in last week for a huge repair; it was supposed to take 3 days, but the technician came in early twice and it was done in a day and a half. I met the technician and he was so kind and genuine; very personalized service. They also saved me a few hundred $$! Worst customer service and most overpriced shithole I've ever seen. Parts are minimum 5x overpriced. Want a $200 brake job to hit 1500 bucks while being verbally abused if you refuse unnecessary work? These criminals ate your boys. The autobody shop itself is great. Clear cut and good price. But heres why I'm writing a review. The girls up front. Alisha was mature enough to deliver high quality customer service by being kind. Amy on the other hand, needs to have a job at a call center where employees are not expected to smile or be nice at all. Her presence is extremely uncomfortable to even be in the same room as. Unbelievably miserable and unfriendly customer service from Amy, big bad boss lady. Will never return because of how absolutely awkward she is with not even saying hi on multiple occasions. Scratched freshly powder coated rim and argued, interrupted and came up with excuses vs addressing the issue, never OFFERED a refund! The story: This morning I discovered a bead leak on one of my winter tires, needing it quick I needed some where close. That leaves me with Matthews Tire or Tires Plus. Always trying to stay true to local or intrastate companies I went to Matthews... And never again! I pick it up to find the tech over tightened my wheel on the wheel balancer causing deep scratches. When showing the manager of course I was confronted with denial. I've only two lug mounted the rim once to move the car since being powder coated. "Nope, there's no way we did that. " "Did we take the wheel off?" "Oh well that's from the lugs then" "Oh look over here, where its bubbling up, must be the finish." "Has this (the finish) even had time to dry?" This is a winter rim, I didn't do a perfect prep before it was coated so there are imperfections. Last time I checked powder coating was BAKED on not to mention POWDER, there for never going on wet. After walking out due to my extreme rise in anger, I stepped back inside to demand a refund. "Why would I do that?!" After he snatched my invoice and doing some computer stuff, I was handed my new invoice with a "There's just no way we did that." read more

My boyfriend and I called Matthew's at 6:30 on a Friday night having frantically searched for a place that was open to change my flat tire. Although they were closing in a half an hour, they told me to come by and they would take care of it. Dave, who we assumed was the manager, was exceptional. He joked with us, made us laugh and was one of the most pleasant individuals I have ever encountered at a car repair establishment. My boyfriend and I both felt bad about them having to stay open later but Dave assured us it was no problem. 20 minutes later, the tire was replaced, Dave gave me some advice about when to change the next ones and we all got to go home. We will definitely be returning to Matthew's Tire in the future. read more

I rolled into town on a flat, checking into a downtown hotel in a hurry at the end of business hours on Friday, not a good situation. The tow truck driver brought me to Matthews actually by accident, I had found a different tire place using Google, but it all worked out as this place was open until 7 on a Friday, they took me in and replaced the tire with a high quality new Good Year comparable to the other three I had on the car, in and out in about 20 minutes just before closing time. The total charge of just a sawbuck above a C-Note was reasonable. I was in that desperate situation of being out of town with a car problem, it was quite the relief to have the fair and competent treatment I got at this place. The young lady handling the business end was polite, competent, quick and efficient, pleasantly free of any scripted corporate insincerity or jargon. The young mechanic who changed the tire did a good job, no problems with the seal miles down the road. The waiting room is clean and comfortable, the customer toilet surprisingly so as well. And, I got a free calendar. This is the most convenient location to downtown Appleton, or to the nearby stretch of highway 41. read more
