I had the double blueberry waffle and it was excellent! Service was meh, my waitress seemed to be completely consumed by a 2 top that came in after us but was ordered and completely served before we were asked what we wanted. Maybe they were important people I don't know. But, the food here is excellent and the service is usually really good. read more

I don't know how we've overlooked this pleasant neighborhood cafe in Old Covington. Mattina Bella was a refreshing change from chains and other overpriced breakfast/brunch spots in the area. It was a Sunday morning and the restaurant was super busy. They have a sizable space and bar for seating, but we were seated in about 10 minutes. I had the bacon avocado omelette (added cheddar) and need I say more--yummy to the core. Hubby had the Ironman omelette and literally finished his plate before I had gotten halfway through my meal. Both of our selections were served with potatoes (grits is the other option), plus a large size wheat toast. Hot, delicious, taste like homemade real food. The service was really fast despite the busy crowds in the restaurant. Really professional and nice staff as well. Can't wait until the next Sunday brunch there. read more

This was our 2nd visit to Mattina Bella for breakfast & it does not disappoint. The service is excellent. They are very friendly, everyone says hi & the servers are very attentive. The food is excellent. They have great daily specials in addition to their regular menu. Highly recommend this place. Great breakfast spot that I've been frequenting for years! Decided to write because of the great experience with the wait staff I had the other day. They have always been super friendly here and very accommodating, but really impressed me the other day. We got there during a super busy rush, but the hostess took a couple of minutes to speak with us about a large table to accommodate my group. I haven't been there in a while but I don't think I'd seen her there before. On to the meal, I had the salmon is one of the best things on the menu. The hash browns are a favorite too, I always like to tell them to cook them a little softer (personal preference). We are going back next Sunday and I can't wait! read more

The food is okay if you like eggs and toast. The menu doesnt really represent this place well. They serve a lot of seafood breakfast dishes which (me personally) im not that into. If you love crab at 8am this is your place to go. Love the space though and they have a mean ice coffee! read more

Mattina Bella is by far the best breakfast place in town. I know they serve lunch too but wow, the breakfast is always fantastic. The service is second to none and the food is always amazing and very reasonably priced. I always take my Son there to celebrate special occasions. Such an awesome little place. We absolutely love this place. My personal favorite is the chicken parmesan with the meatballs to follow (I love their pasta!), but the brunch is always my husband's favorite. The atmosphere has a sweet and comfortable feeling to it and we love the staff. A must! read more

Found this charming little spot off yelp looking for breakfast this am as we are traveling to Florida. Loves the atmosphere, food, and sweet people working there. Greeted, seated and served with a smile. Pancakes were great, omelet was perfect and I loved that they serve a English muffin along with the choice of a biscuit or toast. We will be back. I usually enjoy visiting this restaurant. Good service and yummy food. Today I was extremely disappointed in how their kitchen chose to handle a situation. I order the Crab Benedict every time I visit. I always substitute mushrooms with tomatoes. ALWAYS. With my 4 year old and my friend both with me this morning I ordered so quickly I forgot to mention no mushrooms. I receive my food and apologize stating I need it with no mushrooms. After taking my plate I am brought back the same food that has just been picked through to remove the mushrooms. It looked sloppy and the mushrooms were hardly gone. There was a huge one right in plain site. I was mortified that a kitchen would choose to give back food that has (been picked through) come into contact with something a person has an allergy to. I sent it back again and finally revived my food. I totally felt like "that customer", but I had to be. PEOPLE CAN DIE DUE TO FOOD ALLERGIES! Ownership might want to have a chat with the kitchen about this. I'll return in sure at some point when my disbelief subsides. read more

Mattina Bella is a cute neighborhood cafe in downtown Covington. It does get crowded for breakfast, so try to go early, or just grab a seat at the bar...which is what we did. The service was very friendly and fast. My BF got the combo breakfast, which was eggs, sausage and pancakes. He really enjoyed it, and the pancakes were very good. I had the Mezaluna, which was fried eggplant, ham, poached eggs, tomato and hollandaise. This was really good, not mind blowing, but really good. Their coffee was very good! Went to lunch today and was extremely disappointed. Waitress had her mask pulled down below her nose as did most of the waitresses. A man behind the bar had no mask. He even walked to a table to clean it with no mask. The waitress took bottles of ketchup and mayo off of another table and put them on out table. When I questioned it, she gave me a rude answer. I won't be going back anytime soon. Not sure why they think they are above the rules. read more

My blue crab Benny was good, but the grits, like many breakfast establishments were bland. I find that breakfast joints should get some guts and add flavor to their grits. The hollandaise on the Benny was also broken. After all the great reviews, I expected more. read more

Decadent food. Everything is fresh and packed with flavor. *The best artichoke dip I've ever had, anywhere. *spinach salad add chicken and mushrooms. Delicious *good coffee here as well Service is decent but they get super busy and the servers tend to wear their stress and frustration on their sleeves. Some of them are also a bit ignorant or inexperienced. One time I requested vinegar or lemon juice for a salad and it was sort of a drawn out process with lots of back and forth. Sometimes we wait for a long time for our food. Just small and easy to overlook problems that the good food easily outshines. Overall awesome and I'll continue to come back for more! read more

The blue crab Benedict was very good. I substituted grits for the potatoes which was a mistake. I asked if they had cheese grits the waitress said they could make them. It was grits made with water and some cheese placed on top. Very disappointing. My friend got eggs, bacon, toast and grits. He felt the same way about the grits. read more

Love Mattina, great breakfasts, salads and sandwiches... BUT, and this is my only complaint, they have the worst french fries in the world, bar none. They are generally stale, have no flavor, and taste like a Sysco industrial item. PLEASE FIND OR MAKE SOME BETTER FRENCH FRIES, as I love to go. read more

A Sunday Brunch Favorite! My whole family loves to go here on Sunday mornings. The staff is great and the food is delicious. I have a weakness for the Blue crab Benedict. I am an Eggs Benedict fan and considered myself a purist until I tried this variation on it. Every restaurant that does Eggs Benedict feels they have to offer a "twist" on it, and they usually fail miserably. The Blue crab Benedict is the exception. The crab meat lumps are huge and the portion is generous. The Hollandaise is delicious and was made for crab it seems. Unless my memory fails me, they once had a liquor license. I wish they would get it back, because a Bloody Mary, would be the perfect addition to my usual brunch order. Other than that, there is not much not to like or to complain about. More outside seating would be welcome, but I'm not sure that can be accomplished in their current location. read more

Service was good and was affordable but food was just ok. My husband ordered an omelet and it was an average plain looking thing. I had the pecan pancakes and it was very dry. I expected something different I guess. Pancake was topped with dry pecans and dry pecans were in the doh. All in all it was a huge stack of dryness. Even smothering it in syrup didn't help. Waitress knew I didn't like them and offered me to order something else and I declined. between my husband and me we ate 1/3 of it and paid for it.
