I came here on a Sunday after visiting another mattress store down the street. Initially I had planned to check out 3 stores before I made my purchase. The first store I asked for the firmest mattress they had on the floor and I was very disappointed with what they had to offer. The salesman was also seemed disinterested and not very helpful. When I came into Mattress City the Eric, the salesman who helped me, was quite the opposite. He had very warm demeanor and he was also very informative. He was able to give me lots of insight into varying levels of mattress quality. After listening to what I was looking for he showed me their highest quality firm mattress. He encouraged me to try both medium firm and extra firm a couple times just to make sure I was sure by the time it came to make the purchase. After I settled on an extra firm mattress that fit my budget, Eric offered me extra assurances that I could exchange the mattress if I wanted a lower level of firmness without a restocking fee and gave me a longer window than the 30 day window. He tried to add on a few pillows, but when I said I only needed the mattress he listened and didn't press the issue. The mattress was delivered on time and my old mattress was removed with out any issue. After a couple weeks of sleeping on my new mattress I can say that I am happy with my purchase and overall experience. read more

I am a 4x repeat customer, I bought a 100% latex bed from the owner Sean back when they were one store and it looked a bit sketchy, and this review is long overdue. And since that time, wow!! look how far they have come. I'll let you in on an open secret of why - their customer service is great! They are transparent and there to help you meet your needs of restful sleep. Both my wife and I have had back issues over the years and considered the sleep number bed. But we came back to the source we trust and this time it was Daniel, the GM, who helped us as we have also been considering those bed in a box as well as the Temper-Pedic. He gave us the lowdown and the reasons why those bed in a boxes are a joke and some issues I wasn't aware of with the Sleep Number beds. They have some demos there at this store to see for your yourself. We ended up buying the Tempur-Pedic Pro Adapt firm bed about a week ago. Game changer! Just came back and purchased another Dura Pedic mattress from Daniel, three months after we got the first one from him. I have lower back pain and have been looking for a FIRM mattress for a long time. It was so hard to find that I almost wanted to just go to Homedepot, cut some wood, and sleep on that! (Was with us for about 1-2 hours) on two different days. We ended up purchasing a temper-pedic bed, which we never actually planned on, but so far (1 month in) it was a great decision. You get a 90-day trial (exchange only) and you can switch out to any other bed if you want, another reason we bought from here. My wife and I was looking for a firm mattress. We were greeted by Daniel, friendly and very helpful person. He educated us on each bed that interested us but he never pushed us into buying. We probably spent at least 2.5 hours at the store, talking and laying/trying the beds. By the time we chose and bought a mattress it was already passed the closing time - Daniel had no issues with us taking our time. I had a great experience buying here so if you need a new bed don't go anywhere but to this place - see Daniel for a good deal. A couple of days later, before the delivery date, we wanted a different mattress, a more firmer one. There was no hassle changing our order. The delivery guys will also take your old bed away. My next door neighbor wanted our old mattress, it was still in good condition just to soft for us, and the delivery guys didn't have any issues taking it to them. I am extremely impressed at the level of customer service I received from Daniel at Mattress City at this South Lake Avenue location. So far, I would provide more than 5 stars if Yelp allowed it. That is quite the feat since I too am in the service industry also; and thus, have very high standards when it comes to great customer service. My family went to Mattress City on Labor Day this year about an hour before the store's closing. My wife and I brought our 8 year old daughter and 4 year old son along just expecting to drop in to take a look. From my wife's first call to the store to inquire about the Labor Day sale to our multiple calls after the beds were delivered, Daniel has met and exceeded our expectations. On that first visit to the store, Daniel's wife immediately took our kids and began playing with them. They ran around the store and colored pages out of a coloring book Daniel and his wife provided while Daniel gave my wife and I an extremely detailed presentation about the Tempur-Pedic bed we ended up buying. I knew I wanted a Tempur-Pedic but hadn't done my research or realized how many different styles and models there were. Daniel patiently found the perfect bed for both my wife and my needs. He is definitely an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to finding the right bed for each individual customers' need. He was also extremely patient, as was his wife who continued to entertain our kids during our entire 2.5 hour visit to the store. On the issue of patience, it is important to note that although we strolled in an hour before closing, Daniel and his wife helped us for an additional 1.5 after the store closed and he kept us after hours so we could get the deal done. I was informed that was after he and his wife had a 10 to 12 hour day. That's dedication! We ended up deciding on a king size Tempur-Pedic Cloud series bed and 2 additional queen size beds for our kids. We told Daniel that our new house was under renovation and that we would not be able to take delivery for another 5 weeks from the date of the purchase. It ended up taking our contractors almost 12 more weeks to finish, so we had to delay our delivery several times since our house wasn't ready. Each time I called Daniel to delay our delivery, he knew exactly who I was and took care of everything so I didn't have to stress about it. After months of dealing with completely unreliable contractors, dealing with someone like Daniel who kept his word was quite refreshing. Now, although we didn't take delivery until about 3 months after our purchase on Labor Day, we paid 100% for our mattresses. At first, I was a bit concerned about doing this, but I must say that Daniel has been completely responsive even after taking all my money upfront. He even wrote on my invoice that until I took delivery of the mattresses, the entire transaction was fully refundable. The cool thing about that is Daniel never pushed me to take delivery or pressured me into a position where my mattresses became fully nonrefundable. Instead, he patiently told me he would hold off delivery each time I called him to delay delivery because my contractors couldn't perform as they had promised. He even reminded me that I had a 90 day trial period with my Tempur-Pedic bed after I look delivery of it. In the end, Daniel delivered our 3 mattresses within a day's notice once our house was ready. From the delivery guys to when I had to go back to switch out a few of the box springs (see below), the staff at Mattress City exceeded my expectations. They were super friendly, professional, and very considerate. There were two problems: 1) The box springs we ordered for the beds were too low (we got the ultra-thin box springs which were too low for our bed frames); and, 2) My daughter complained her bed was too hard even though it felt fine to her when she tested it in the store. Resolutions: With the 1st problem, Daniel allowed us to switch out the box springs to the medium profile version without any problems as soon as we mentioned it to him. With the 2nd problem, Daniel mentioned to my wife that he would personally come over to our house to check and see whether there was a manufacturer's issue with my daughter's bed and help us resolve this issue to her satisfaction. We will keep you posted about the resolution of this 2nd issue soon since my daughter is not happy with the hardness of her bed, which I'm sure Daniel will resolve! I'll post an update to this review on how this matter was resolved! All in all, I must say that Daniel (and his wife) went above and beyond our expectations in service, honesty, and reliability. I have already recommended my friends to him who are all looking for Tempur-Pedic beds also. I know Mattress City and Daniel will be able to assist them as well as he and his wife have helped our family. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend their services and products to others. When I called and said I was doing a cross-country move (from FL to CA) and asked if they offered same day delivery (yes), I also asked the latest time I could come in to buy a mattress so I could get same day delivery. Kent told me 3 but also told me to come in when I could, and they would make sure I got my mattress that day. On the day I bought my mattress (I got there before 3!), Kent remembered me from my phone call and helped me find a mattress in my price range that offered the back support I needed and would also be available for delivery that same day. He was very funny and gracious and, as promised, my mattress was delivered the same day I moved into town/stopped by the store so I didn't have to sleep on the floor that night. My husband and I walked into the store on a Sunday with only 30 minutes before a dinner reservation. We were just starting our mattress hunt and had no intention of buying that day. The General Manager Daniel was there and greeted us quickly. He understood our time restraints, showed us three separate mattress types, and answered all of our questions. Daniel was great. We walked in late one night just to inquire about some mattresses. We ended up making a purchase and scheduling a delivery for the next day between 12pm and 3pm. This was a five star experience. The delivery knocked it down a star. I was supposed to receive a call 10 minutes before the delivery of the mattress. At around 2:45 I began to worry because I'd received no call. At 3:15 I call the store and ask what is going on. I am told I'd get a call back right away. At 3:30 I call the store and I'm informed that the truck is out on three deliveries and I can't be told when they will arrive. I postponed the delivery for the next day. I understand that there are many extenuating circumstances when out delivering, but a courtesy call would have been appreciated. At some point, the delivery driver knows they will not make the window. Let me know, and I'll decide whether to keep waiting or go do other things I already had planned to do. read more
