We purchased a Stearns & Foster here a few months back at a cost of $3100 on sale. We purchased a firm, because the sales rep stated it would break in, but it would take a couple months. After 4 or 5 months it was still so stiff and every single morning my fiance was in pain complaining about how uncomfortable it was. So we went back knowing we were out of the 90 days but it didn't do what we were told it would do. (LIE #1) So they (Michelle) let us exchange it, and we got a "plush". I prefer firmer, he likes it a little softer and it seemed like a decent compromise or so we thought!! We were charged an ADDITIONAL $1500, stating it was more expensive. Let me just state what we got is NOTHING like what we laid on in the store, it's like a bait and switch. What we got feels like it's been trampled on by a bulldozer. For reference I weigh approx 125 lbs, and I literally sunk 4" in this mattress. I laid on it for 10 minutes and said nope I cannot sleep on this (I was not home at time of delivery or I'd not have accepted it) My fiance slept on it one night and said that is beyond uncomfortable and is not the bed we laid on in store, and I slept in our guest room. After the 2nd night we took it and put it in our guest room where it's been since leaning against a wall, and we have our Queen guest bed on our King size frame. I called the corporate office OVER A WEEK AGO and have a case # and was told the district manager would contact us HE HAS NOT. Michelle did and basically told us we are stuck with it, a $4600 mattress we have zero use for, ummm NO. At that time we were told the District Manager would call the follwowing day and you guessed it, we STILL HAVEN'T heard from him. (LIE #2) So Jesse another store associate called today and gave us 3 options, 1. return it for our original (well if we wanted that we'd have kept it in the first place) 2. exchange for something else in store (we like nothing there) or 3. keep it. None of which are acceptable, the only acceptable answer is RETURN FOR A FULL REFUND minus the $250 restocking fee. He stated we cannot return it. (LIE #3) I called him after I spoke to my fiance letting me know of the conversation, and told him once again I ONLY want to speak with the district manager. Monday I will be calling corporate again, they were closed today. We have already gone to Mattress Pavilion and purchased a King Coil. The owner whom we purchased from stated she worked for Mattress Firm for @ 20 years and quit because their customer service is so terrible, which I can attest is 100% ABSOLUTE FACT! She also informed us the Stearns and Foster is no longer a good mattress and the quality has gone WAY DOWN, since Tempupedic bought them. Had we known that we'd have never bought it. I had one for 25 years before and it was amazing, they are no longer amazing. She (the owner of Mattress Pavillion) also let us know that YES we can return it even if it's the 2nd one and that they should ONLY charge us the $250 restock fee, after we told her we even offered to take only $3800 back, just take the PILE OF CRAP, she said no, you can return it. My friend Karen actually bought the mattress and boxsprings. It was a good Black Friday deal and the delivery was scheduled for Sunday. They said they were going to call but they actually sent a text message Saturday night saying they would be here between 12 and 2 PM. Then on Sunday after waiting here past 2 o'clock, they updated it to between 230 and 3 PM. We had other things to do and that really pissed us off. Well, the value was good for the product as far as I'm concerned, the service sucked. Two stars for you guys. While pricing may be good service makes all the difference in the world. Today we came back in to upgrade my daughter's mattress. We were greeted by Brian Rubio and he was one of the nicest and most helpful sales people I've ever met. All we told him was that we didn't want to break the bank and that my daughter wanted something soft. He showed her 4 mattresses that fit the bill. She found the perfect one, we paid for it, and were out the door in under 15 minutes. That time included him moving 4 mattresses and her trying each one. Mattress Firm Santee West - Our 7 month old mattress!!!!!! - Mattresses Near Me - Santee, California

I purchased a Beauty Rest Pressure smart King size Mattress from Mattress Firm in Santee California along with two box springs. The mattress started sagging a few months after the purchase and I called Mattress Firm to file a warranty claim. They told me they would send out and inspector. The Inspector came out and he was very polite and explained to me as he was doing his Inspection on what he was checking for. The mattress had a definite sag to it and when he removed it and checked the box springs and support he told me the foundation has nothing wrong and fully supports the mattress. He stated the problem is a faulty mattress that happens now and then during the making of the product. He put everything back together and then handed me a document to sign saying it was to confirm he did the inspection and I should hear back from Mattress Firm in a week or so for replacement. Since sleeping on this mattress my back has started having more pain than I ever had. The pain is to the point that I may need to seek medical advice. I called Mattress firm about when they were bringing the new Mattress and was told they voided the warrantee due to insufficient support for the mattress. This is when I actually read the paper the inspector had me sign to verify, he was here to do the inspection. Well, the Fine print on the form states "By signing below I verify that the inspector has not disclosed any information as to whether or not the product is defective or left me with any expectation of what may or may not be done. It is customer service that will make determination not the inspector This is misleading - the form is to show he was here and did the inspection. This appears to be a routine with your company to tell the clients so sign a paper so he can show he was here. Of course, I should have read the full paper but I am 77 yr old Marine corps Vietnam Veteran on Disability and still have the idea in my head that people are Good and Trustworthy and when they tell you with a sincere voice and attitude that its just a paper to show he was there and not disclose what is actually in the paper is so WRONG. I paid almost $2000 dollars for a mattress that will cause me more pain than I have now from agent orange. read more

The Mattresses are great but they tell you a delivery date and then don't deliver on that time. I bought a $1000 Matress Monday afternoon. They said it would be delivered on Wednesday and that I would get a Call on Tuesday evening. No call. The number they gave me rang and rang. I finally got an answer at 10 this morning. Well, here it goes again: So my wife and I are looking for a new mattress and bed combo and we decided to take a peek into Sleep Train in Santee since we happened to be passing by. We were greeted half-heartedly by a sales associate (I forgot his name.. it starts with a "D" I think.) As we looked around, we saw some possibilities for a new purchase. Although we weren't looking to buy on that day, we thought there was some potential. So Mr. Sales associate comes up to us and asks us what we are looking for. After explaining to him what I was looking into and that we just wanted to browse around for the time being, he actually had the nerve to say something along the lines of "so do you specifically have something in mind that you want, or are you just wasting time?" I looked at him stunned, not knowing what to think of what he just said. After an awkward pause, he tried to sugarcoat it and followed up with "well... it's a legit question, because we usually take you through a process to narrow down your choices which takes about 30 minutes." Although he might not have been accusing us of wasting time, he could have at least worded it differently. It's not like he was busy either. There was only one other couple in the store at the time and they were being helped by another associate. The prices at Sleep Train aren't the best either. In a nutshell, our experience at Sleep Train in Santee was quite disappointing. It's a shame because we were thinking about buying something there. After encountering this rude associate, the obvious course of action was to take our business elsewhere. DO NOT shop at Sleep Train in Santee unless you want to be dealing with rude sales staff. I really didn't expect much, but Kevin was very knowledgeable. He asked what I wanted and then put it to a little test. I knew the mattress when I tested it out. Now the hard part. We went to the Santee store to begin shopping to replace our 15 year old mattress. We were greeted by Kevin and he began the process of helping us select a new mattress. There was a lot of bed hopping as we tried coil, foam, and hybrid mattress from hard to soft. A couple hours later we selected a mattress we both agreed on, and decided to go with the split king with individual adjustable head and foot positions. We asked for delivery a couple days later and Nick and Ben showed up as scheduled. They removed the old mattress set, gave us a couple of minutes to vacuum the area, and then setup our new bed. It was raining out and they made sure to wipe their feet each time they entered the house. After setting up the beds they briefed us on the operation of the remote, the 100 day satisfaction guarantee, and insured we had the product and guarantee information we needed. I have to admit, I was a super easy customer. I have chronic neck and back problems and have not been sleeping well. I wake up in horrible pain. I went in with the attitude that money was no object. Two nights on the new bed and I woke up refreshed, with minimal pain. I slept through a helicopter search last night. I'm a light sleeper....so I thought. Angie was very helpful. My husband and I actually visited another Mattress Firm (Jackson Drive - I do not suggest going here the salesman was less than friendly) before purchasing our Mattress from the Santee West location and let me just say the staff at this location is top notch! I recently purchased a rather expensive pillow from Mattress Firm at their West Santee store. It was a Beautyrest Beyond Cooling pillow which didn't perform as well as my old worn out pillow that I was looking to replace. When I tried to return it I was told Mattress Firm does not accept returns of such bedding items. Had I been aware of this ahead of time I would probably not purchased it, but I mistaken believed that Mattress Firm was an upstanding company with good customer service. I returned a second time to speak to the manager about my dissatisfaction and was pretty much blown off. "None of the mattress stores accept returns of "personal items" I was told. I pointed out that I was not made aware of this at the time of purchase and certainly Bed Bath and Beyond as well as other companies do accept returns of such items. This was met with "well that's Bed bath and Beyond", as if they are somehow inferior. The manager also pointed out that it states right on the receipt "No returns No exchanges". When I asked her if she always reads her receipts when she goes grocery shopping she smugly replied, "Of course I do!" I was eventually offered some money back. The manager said I could keep the pillow but the "restocking fee" was 70%! I guess the take away is just because a company offers a 120 night sleep trial (mattresses only) it doesn't mean they have reputable polices or people working at their stores. read more

So, I delayed in writing this review until the bed was delivered, slept in, and evaluated properly. Let me take you through MY experience with Sleep Train Mattress Company in Santee. I was in the market for a new box-spring and mattress to replace my "Antique" ones that creaked worse than an oak tree in high winds whenever I moved. So, I found myself in the Sleep Train Mattress Company in Santee. It was just luck, as I was just at T-Mobile shopping for a new phone. My first impression was very good. The store was clean, bright, and showed off the dozens of beds very well. I had a friend with me, and she too was very impressed with the quality and selection. We were immediately greeted by the store manager, Joseph Borelli. This guy was a blast to talk with. As I was looking at the prices, I noticed that most were out of my price range, but Joseph didn't even bat an eye when I told him how much I was willing to spend. He just smiled and said "We can do that!" From the moment he approached us, I felt like he was truly interested in finding me a mattress set that really would fit me and MY needs, He spent well over an hour answering my questions, evaluating my sleep style, and making helpful suggestions to aid in my choice. He really knows his stuff when it comes to mattresses. I learned a LOT about mattresses and box springs that I had never imagined before. After trying 4 different beds, 5 pillows, and spending well over an hour in there, I finally made my decision. When we went to run a financing report, it came back as I expected for me, DENIED. That's not the stores fault, its just my lack of credit history. Ah well. Joseph was totally cool about it. His attitude and professionalism never wavered in light of this information. Since i had the money already ( I was just looking to assist my credit rating by financing a small part of it), I bought the mattress, box-spring, 2 pillows, and the protective mattress cover (Which is amazing, I might add!) I left the store with absolutely no sense of regret or buyers remorse. I was thoroughly informed and happy with my purchase and its price. It was hassle free and not stressful at all.
