He was really more focused on helping to find the right fit to the bodies shape for the best sleep. Bought a bed and adjustable base mid January of this year. The adjustable base broke after a month. Contacted Mattress Firm and was told to contact the warranty company. It has been 4 months of back and forth emails & texts. They FINALLY sent a replacement part but no explanation on how to install it. Frustrated that I spent $1500 on a base that has been malfunctioning from the start. Mattess Firm should have just picked up the current base and replaced it with a new one. I purchased two mattresses during the weekend black Friday sale. I was offered superior service and great pricing! However, when Raphael came to deliver two days later, I realized I had ordered the wrong size mattress for one of the bedrooms. I do NOT know how I did that, but Keith and the store manager Scott went out of their way to help me rectify that and get the proper delivery., just one day later. These gentlemen are true professionals. A mattress isn't something that you routinely purchase, but when it's time again - there is no question where I will be headed. When I originally bought my very expensive mattress at this location I would have given them more stars, despot the shameless up-selling and extras that were offered over and over. I now need some new pillows and finding Macys in-store selection extremely lackluster I stopped by. First the salesmen let me know that their pillows were expensive and might be out of my price range. I don't know what made this man think he knew what what or wasn't in my price range. Rude. Second, he repeatedly told me that I wanted to buy the wrong kind of pillow - pointing to the "sleep expert" embroidered on his polo. Um, ok...where's his MD from again? I've shopped here a couple of times. They have a good selection. The salespeople I've dealt with were patient, competent and knowledgeable. Their prices are competitive, as they always seem to have some sort of sale or discount or promotion to make you feel like you're getting a deal. The store isn't grungy or anything, and the parking situation isn't bad. Also, their delivery service has always been able to meet my needs. Keith input incorrect delivery address, incorrect email, and incorrect delivery date, causing a delay and inconvenience on my order. A customer shouldn't have to watch over your shoulder to know their invoice is input correct on a $1,000 purchase. This was an overall bad experience, and Mattress Firm has a bad return policy that this salesperson didn't explain. Ask the right questions or pay 20% restocking fees (doesn't make sense) and delivery fees $200. Returns for us would cost $400. read more

I went here second after hitting a mattress store down the street. I had a set budget for three beds for my kiddos. The salesman was very nice and knew the products well. He did not try to upsell me with the Vera Wangs or anything. He said he would look to see if they had anything in clearance. They did not, but he was able to make a deal that only went a little over my budget. Yay! Also, delivery is included, generally same-day. I have been sitting on this review for about three months now. I can't help but feel like my husband and I were swindled. We get to the store in hopes of finding a decent, cheap, and non-memory foam mattress. We do find that with the help of the sales associate on the floor at the time, who happened to be a great help until later. A little background about my husband and I...we are both sales department managers so we know all the games, all the tricks, and all the right things to say to customers to get them to buy, and boy did this guy have everything lined up. We get to the counter expected the advertised price of the mattress, around $500, plus a free adjustable base as part of their black Friday week special. (GREAT DEAL we thought!) But then, a plot twist! The base could not be included for that mattress........WHAT....But it's advertised with it....NOPE. Okay, well we get it, some things are associated with fine print we understand. Then it turns out the mattress isn't even $500ish, but more like $600ish....plus tax, plus delivery, plus haul away (which I will get into in a minute) plus installation....this decent, cheap, and non-memory foam mattress came out to a whopping $900!! WUTINTARNATION!?! We leave to discuss it and see if we can actually afford this and decide it was time...our current memory foam mattress had us in pain every wake-up. We counter offer that they throw in the base and it's a deal. They agree since it was PART OF THE AD ANYWAYS. We set up our delivery/installation day for two weeks down the road and part our ways. *Time warp two weeks* Hey sorry guys, the mattress isn't ready today since it's coming from the factory. Ohp...okaaayyy, when will it be ready? Next week. Okay please on Tuesday. No problem. Following Tuesday comes around, the "third party" delivery team rings our doorbell, I show them to the bedroom, and ask if there is enough room for them to install the base...they preemptively had this to say "oh they said you guys have to pay for the installation." "OH WE PAID FOR THE INSTALLATION" I told him. How many monies do you think we should pay for installation on a $500 dollar mattress?? I'm already pissed about the delay, now I'm livid that these guys had that to say. They take out the main mattress and two of the box springs...we actually had four box springs, asked if they could take all the items...they said they could only take two box and one mattress. Okay whatever, then they bring in the the new mattress, I take the other two out of the way, one of the guys come back and says there is an issue. The base is half the size. Goodness sakes! You guys had six weeks to get everything together correctly!! I deny the base and indicate that it was the wrong size and that I still wanted the base...because dammit we worked hard for it. They leave and, I assumed like an idiot, that they at least hauled away the mattress and two box springs.....NOPE. They were next to our complex's DUMPSTERRRRR. They are still there to this day. I refuse to pay any extra for the city to come and haul it away when this delivery team was supposed to take care of it and we paid for it. When we called and bitched about it, they said the guys noticed bed bugs.....THE F*** YOU JUST SAY!?!?!? We clean our sheets, AND mattress cover every other week....the f***ing audacity.. If we had our delivery team like that we would be out of business. They are VERY lucky when they came back Saturday, which my husband took the day off for, they had the correct base and that my husband instantly fell in love with it. All we wanted was for everyone to do their job. Half-assed from the moment we confirmed the purchase. My friend is shopping for a new bed setup and I told him to go elsewhere that it isn't worth the headaches, as I will tell anyone that asks. I still feel like we got bamboozled three months later...I had to get it off my chest. read more

Technically this review is for when they were Sleep Train a couple years ago, but it's the same company under a new name. The company is so shady they close up shop under one name & reopen under another every few years due to some of the shady stuff they pull. We bought a Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe Breeze 2 years ago. Tempurpedic price locks all their beds so there's no competition between companies selling their product. The only exception is if the bed is a floor model. They had one bed that was used for a month at a mattress show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds & it was half price. She assured us they cover their beds at shows like this so nothing can get thru the cover if some dirty ( . ) person lays on it, & they sanitize it before delivery as well. Thinking we were getting a great deal, we went for it... a $5K Tempurpedic bed for $2500! One caveat is the Tempurpedic warranty doesn't apply since it's technically a used bed, but she assured us that Sleep Train warranties it for 5 years... any problems & just come back to them. We asked for the warranty info, but she said all we need is the receipt. That probably should've set off a red flag for us, but Tempurpdeic has such a good reputation, we accepted the condition & only needing the receipt... BIG MISTAKE! After just 18 months, the sides of the bed started breaking down to the point where if lying down on the edge & wanting to move to the middle, you had to roll uphill to get to the middle... NOT comfortable for a good night's sleep. We went back w/ the receipt & naturally they claim that was Sleep Train & they're a different company... hence them bogusly going out of business every few years & reopening under a new name. We just a bought a new bed at a reputable mattress company & are very pleased so far. Stay away from any Mattress Firm... very shady company! read more

Wandered in this place a week ago, depressed because I wasn't able to be in Davis to see my boyfriend graduate, stressed because school was starting the next day, and just over-all BLAH! But I needed a bed, as the 16yo mattress I'd inherited when my grandparents got a new one was killing me and I'd taken to sleeping on the floor, the old one was so bad. I was wary walking in, every "sales" situation feeling like walking down the games row at the Del Mar Fair with the carnies circling like sharks. And looking around the vacant store and seeing 3 clerks, I was even more so. Emily approached me and greeted me, was not at all aggressive, and not put off when I told her I was just pricing that day. She had me try out a few beds to discover how firm or plush a bed I wanted. I walked in thinking plush and to my surprise came out with something firm! (*shifty eyes* No... not THAT firm!! THe BF's in England for the summer!!) She asked me what my budget was and I told her I couldn't go over $700, which again, didn't put her off. She was still super friendly and helpful without applying the pressure. We wandered through beds, I tried a few more, and found one on sale that was perfect. Still, I wasn't ready to buy, and she asked me if I was planning on shopping around. I told her yes and named off a few places I was going to try. She offered to look up the mattress I'd chosen online and beat the price by 5% if they had it cheaper. Why not? It was a good price already, well below what I was willing to call my max. In steps Ryan, who makes a couple phone calls, pretending to be a customer that can't find a price online for Sleep Train's competitors. He asks a few bumbling questions as "clueless customer", then gets to the meat of the matter and finds a price below Sleep Train's! They both seemed pretty shocked, but were happy to give me the discount, even if I wanted to wait to buy the mattress for a week or so. I wound up putting a hold on it (with no deposit needed) and having it delivered a week later (today). Included in the price was pick up of my ratty, stained, beaten down mattress and box springs and set up of the new one! Price = AWESOME Customer Service = loads of fun, no pressure, better than most customer service I've gotten anywhere lately! I would definitely recommend Sleep Train, and Emily and Ryan definitely deserve the commission $$! read more

My wife, son and I went to Sleep Pain mid Sept 2010 after seeing what we liked at Costco. We wanted to make sure we were making a good choice so we stopped into Sleep Pain. We saw something similar but was little more but we liked the 100 day Bull Warranty. Not only was the bed too tall when we got the set, the mattress was way too firm. We tried it for a couple weeks and went back to Sleep Pain and was told to try the shorter Box Spring (which was never offered as an option before). We were also duped into keeping the mattress since they said it will soften up. We had to sign a paper saying we can no longer exchange (we assumed it was just for the box spring and was never informed by the sales person that it was for the whole order, which we found out the hard way). Ok height problem fixed. Bed still hard after another 2 weeks. My wife stopped in after work to tell them we need to just exchange the mattress for a softer one and we'll pay the price difference. Well, the sales person now says we can no longer exchange. We never exchanged the "mattress," which is worded in their 100 day warranty. I called their headquarters with the same results. They will not budge. The absolutely care nothing about Customer Satisfaction. They are absolute Crooks! We now have a $550 bed set which is useless and we only had it a month. STAY AWAY FROM SLEEP PAIN at all costs. It doesn't matter which location. read more

I had a problem with a Gift Certificate that I purchased as a present for my wife. I was told that I could refund the GC if my wife didn't want it because I purchased it for cash. Then customer service told me "tough toenails" and I was out of luck. I left two messages for the Customer Service Manager, who NEVER returned my calls. Finally, I went back to the store and met Michael. He single handedly restore my faith in Sleep Train. Not only did he listen to me and empathize, he diligently searched for a solution that would work for everyone. In the end, Sleep Train was able to move a mattress, Michael completed a sale and my wife is happy with the new mattress. Please go and see him as soon as you can for all of your mattress needs. In the quest to find a mattress I stopped by here a few times. Very clean, very friendly staff. There appears to be A LOT of employees though -- considering I only came here a handful times I never saw the same worker twice. The workers are always giving a very friendly personal experience which means sometimes they have to leave people to browse on their own for a bit, or phone calls in tend to get put on hold for far too long... but at the same time I like their personal and friendly approach - I do think they could probably mix both a personal experience and proper phone handling skills better though. Donna helped us originally and so we made sure she got credited when we finally made the sale. Donna walked us through the store, letting us try out about 7 mattresses before we found one we really liked. She talked to us about our needs and the pros of the mattresses. Upon purchased the delivery system was great. They called ahead, gave time frames and were very friendly. I do feel like the original delivery people may have put my bed frame together wrong, or by fluke the item was defective.... it ended up breaking our box spring so I got to try out the warranty system. I called the store and was told to submit a warranty claim form... their headquarters handled it and gave me a new invoice number for the store. Delivery again was very swift and simple. I'm pretty sure I'll purchase through this location again... they have a great replacement and return policy compared to other stores. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. The customer service by two specific employees was horrendous. They had absolutely no concern for what I was trying to tell them about a mattress I no longer wanted and had exchanged two times. The manager of the store had no desire to help me and shrugged off my want for returning it, originally joking with his coworker "did you tell them they can't return it" before even knowing what the situation was, and talking about us as if we were not standing right there. The manager's attitude was completely unacceptable and unprofessional as he was very condescending. The mattresses being sold, although brand name, are not the best. Many best will make impressions within the first 30-60 days, which they claim is "normal and shaping to your body's natural contour" which is complete bs. After lots of research revealing that this is due to cheap materials used by these brand names, only making the mattress good for 5 or so year. My $200 mattress from Big Lots did not even have an impression and I had it for 8 years! The mattresses I tried from Mattress Firm I had for 100 days! I suggest doing research before coming here and do not be fooled by the brand names or "deals" that Mattress Firm offers along with their rude customer service. read more
