Well folks these are great people, period. Down to earth real people. Been going there probly 15 years. Lisa behind the desk is his wife and Kerry is the other lass. Just Dr. Eye and his two ladies. Family owned business. Yea Dr Eye can be behind schedule but what doctor aint? Over the years I just arrive late cuz I expect it, hehe, or call ahead. I do this with my primary doctor also. The woman that complained about dust and the dog and them being unprofessional, well these people are the real deal and not fake. Go to France, better yet don't they be flippant, there are dogs in restaurants. Speaking of restaurants that woman would never eat at one again if she saw what the back was like in many of them, especially Asian. And that little dogy would be soup, hehehe, what! You all know that there is funny! Back off! No it is clean and she did not wait 10 minutes. They will not just ignore you. Wait a darn minute, come to think of it I am often ignored...nah imagination. But as I stated it is just the two of them. Other customers, phone calls, etc. Be patient people. Do what you do driving down the highway, read your cell phone and chill. They are the proverbial perfect neighbors. They are not my neighbor, just saying. read more

We have been going to Matus Eye Care for many years now and have never had a bad experience. They are very professional and helpful in every way. Lisa is always so pleasant and greets us with a smile every time we come in. If we ever have any questions, she and the doctor Matus are right there to answer them. Don't understand any of the other reviews. Lisa also is very helpful when it's time to pick out frames. I always have a hard time picking the right ones and she is great in helping me figure it out. read more

I definitely would not recommend this place! It is not particularly clean (in fact it's pretty dusty), which is disturbing for a place where you're putting things in your eyes. In our case, the prescriptions were correct, but the doctor and staff are just not very professional. At one point, I went in to pick up my husband's glasses and had to wait 10 minutes while the woman behind the desk had a personal conversation with a girl I assumed to be her daughter. The worst part is that the woman at the front desk had a little dog at work with her! I don't care how clean you keep your animals, a doctor's office is just not the place for them. We've since switched eye doctors because our experience at Matus was not a good one. read more

My children and I have been going to Matus Eyecare for years and have ALWAYS been treated with respect and courtesy. The front desk ( Lisa) goes above and beyond expectations and requirements to make our experiences satisfactory to us. She is pleasant, friendly and professional. We have always received reminder phone calls and have been contacted promptly when our eyeglasses and contact lenses have arrived. I am very impressed with Lisa's dedication to ensure customer/patient satisfaction. She is very accommodating when scheduling appointments and is very helpful and friendly to my children and I. The store looks like it was partially decorated in the 70's, everything is duty, there are only 4 or 5 chairs to sit and wait in and they are so old they should have been thrown out years ago. The store is unorganized, messy, and the exam chair is even torn. If that was not enough to scare us away, my husband and I should have left after waiting almost an hour for our appointment due to the doctor being late. When we finally did leave, we had been there for 1 hour and 40 minutes just for two eye exams. I stopped by to pick-up my glasses today but when I put them on, I could not see anything up close through the no-line progressive lens. Lisa, the receptionist, argued with me that she told me before I ordered the glasses, it was because I didn't order the premium plastic (more expensive) lens and that is why I could not see correctly. Lisa said that she recommended that I go with the more expensive lens prior to my placing the order but she never said I would not be able to see out of them! When my husband went to pick-up his glasses Lisa handed him the case with the glasses, never cleaned them or adjusted them to fit his head. I will never go back there again and recommend you stay far away. Horrible, absolutely horrible, customer service! read more

SCAM ALERT! I have been going to Matus Eyecare for over 5 years. The receptionist Lisa can be rude but overall does her job well. The doctor (her husband) is right to be point, does his job fast and actively. The space itself is older and could use a good cleaning/organizing. When I went in for my yearly eye exam this year 2020 I was overcharged over $100 dollars. I was told by Lisa the anti reflective for my glasses is the usual price 68 something dollars "but it might go up she said" not thinking about it at the time I paid her half of my bill right away $200 then the other $214 when I picked up my glasses. When I picked up my glasses I asked why it went up from $68 since it's always been that price...she gave some speech about how they haven't used that cheaper brand in years yet I just paid that price the year before....since I already paid the $200 right away I didn't feel I had much ground to speak on. Please ask questions about your bill before you pay!!! If you do not understand or it doesn't sound right keep asking! Also if you're like me and have state insurance please do not go here!!! I'm sure there are much better places that would be happy to have such business. read more

Very bad customer service and doctor. The doctor order eye contact for me and it's very close so it give me a headache all day so I saw him, he said now you should be good but it still give me bad headache but when I took it off it's better so I call again he told the customer service that he can't see me because he saw me once! Dude You take money for eye exam and you does not want to see me to fix the level for the eye contact. I think bad people to deal with. read more

I would also not recommend this doctor or office as well. Agree it is not very clean or professional. I have never been to a doctor as a new patient who never introduced himself. He was very rude when asking the medical history. He would cut me short when I try to respond to his questions. Never been to an eye doctor where he insisted I "guess" a response even though I could not make out the letter or number or depth perception. Kept pressing me to "GUESS" He made me feel very uncomfortable which made me conclude I would not receive a thorough or accurate exam. read more

Where to begin:( I had to wait for them to arrive for my appointment, doctor and receptionist were late. On top of that they took another appointment before me making them an hour and fifteen minutes late for me. The place smells and while waiting there isn't a reception area to be seated. While standing there the receptionist, not his wife, had a friend in, left calls on hold while she talked with her and was taking personal calls on her mobile phone. In the exam room the wallpaper was falling off, not just peeling a bit but falling off. The exam chair is torn up and it leans so I was sliding out of the chair. Plus, there are no sanitation methods used for equipment so you are putting your eyes/face where strangers have been. Let me get to the doctor...he was rude, curt, barking orders and had quite the ego. He had the equipment turned in a way that my head was slightly turned so I wasn't straight, I asked him to move it but he seemed offended by that, unpleasant and appeared really didn't care how the exam went for me. When I was leaving the receptionist really wanted me to get glasses but I didn't see anything during my long wait and I had enough of the place that looks like a flea market dump. Hubz was appalled by things I told when called him while waiting...I thought I'll get prescription and never go back. Found glasses somewhere else, had them made only to have prescription wrong. Everything I looked at was bent. Now I have to go somewhere else for an exam, pay out of pocket because Matus used my insurance benefits and then have glasses made with correct prescription. After all of this I found out from others that they had issue with Matus in past where he was hostile especially when wrong Rxs were brought to his attention. This whole experience has been inconvenient and very unsettling There isn't a drop of 'Eyecare' there... Never Ever Again will I set foot in that place or recommend *Loudest sigh ever :( read more

I've been a patient at Matus Eyecare for eight years (and counting). They are a family-owned business located in the heart of Franklin, and faithfully serve the surrounding suburban population by providing compassionate and comprehensive vision care. Dr. Matus is personable, professional, and kind to everyone I've observed within the clinic. His examinations and resulting prescriptions are accurate and knowledgeable. Lisa is an efficient and top-notch practice manager. She will not hesitate to go the extra mile to ensure you are informed, satisfied, and made to feel comfortable throughout your visit and beyond. I have always received deliveries (and notifications of such) in a timely fashion, as promised. Their office also extends personal courtesy calls for appointment reminders. This custom is rare and appreciated. Beyond these attributes, the out-of-pocket costs at Matus are unbeatable. If a trial product is not in stock, that is only because of restrictions they face as a small business competing with massive retailers, and the mandatory price changes that manufacturers impose. If you ask, they will order it. Any questions I've had in this realm have always been answered with diplomacy and intelligence. They will happily attempt to match the lowest price you can quote for any brand. Beyond this, they accept most insurance plans, and charge a mere $59 (2014) for a toric lens fitting. That is nearly 50% less than any major chain or other private practice chooses to offer! Additionally, Matus Eyecare donates to many local charities, and is a steadfast booster of Franklin High School athletics. I have required vision services for thirty years, and have never been more satisfied with or impressed by another eye doctor. read more

Not really happy with Matus eye care. The office is so dimly lit, I thought they were closed when I first went in. You would think you should be able to see when you go into an eye doctor's office. He also doesn't dress in what I consider to be a professional manner for a doctor. As far as the actual visit, Dr. Matus gave me a prescription for my glasses first, which were fine and I can see normally with them. That's when the problems started though. Even though he didn't give me bifocals for my glasses, (I'm 47), he recommend bifocal lenses for my contacts, one for distance, one for reading. He also said that I have a mild astigmatism, something I have never been told in 40 years of wearing glasses/contacts. I tried them for two hours, and had such a bad headache I couldn't wear them any more. Also, everything past 6 feet was blurry, and the lens was thick and uncomfortable. When I told him this a week later, he said that I should have worn them for a week, and I would have adjusted to them. (Not something he told me before) Sorry, but I'm not ready for a week of headaches. After this, he tried another prescription, also for bifocal lenses with a different brand. Both times btw, the lens I needed was not in stock in his office. After I left his office, I called and asked the clerk if they could order the brand that I had been wearing previously, since I never had any problem with comfort when wearing them. This note that she left was later interpreted to mean that I didn't want the astigmatism lens, and I was given a non astigmatism lens with a different prescription. I wore these for 4 days, even though distance vision was again blurry, following his earlier advice that I needed to wear them for a week, but 4 days of headaches was enough. I finally called and told his secretary that I never had problems with distance before, and asked if the doctor thought I should try my old lens for the distance. He wasn't in, but I was told that he would call me on Saturday morning. I tried the lenses myself in the mean time, and could see fine with both distance and close up. He didn't call Saturday or Monday. I had to call him to tell him that I was changing doctors. He ended up calling me twice to try to convince me not to leave and convince me that he was a good doctor. During these calls he interrupted and talked over me many times and didn't listen to what I had to say. During office visits he also seemed like I was a bother to him, when the prescription he wrote for me wasn't working. Overall, not very happy with this office. read more
