Alex and Mike took us on a great 4 hour bottom fishing tour in mid December. The fishing was slow but we were lucky enough to all catch a few fish and see the humpbacks too. This is a very personal and friendly fishing charter, from Munro booking and explaining the way they operate on the phone to the day of fishing it was first class. Captain Matt and deck hand Dana made everyone feel at home even though we had a few first timers on the ocean it went great. They hooked up a nice tuna on the way out to the bottom fishing and we pulled her in and had some fun taking pictures while getting to the spots. It was a tough day on the water as the fish weren't biting, everyone knows it's called fishing not catching so we were ok with it. One of the newbies dragged in a nice pink snapper and my son got a blue stripe snapper, all I was good for was a little leather jacket but oh well. Dana filleted the catch and that evening we dined like kings and queens with a nice bottle or two of Maui's finest vino. My family and I had such a blast today. Monroe and Mike are awesome guys! All the directions were explained well, and they taught us all the Hawaiian names of the fish we caught. 10 of us went out, and everyone caught at least 2 or more fish. The weather was beautiful. The wind did pick up later in the morning, but it did not effect us or the fishing. Mike was able to fillet and clean our fish for us. We made some of the best fish tacos that I've ever had! This was the highlight of our family's trip to Maui. All of us -- kid and adult alike -- caught fish after fish after fish. Captain Kelly navigated us precisely to a series of his favorite spots, using a combination of charts, GPS, and sonar to guide us to the exact spot from which to drift over the school of targeted fish. We caught almost a dozen blue line snapper, about a half dozen pink snapper, two trigger fish, and a hogfish. Trolling back into harbor, we also caught a wavy back tuna. This is definitely the way to fish in Hawaii -- or for that matter, anywhere. The weather is warm, even out on the water. The boat is spacious, comfortable, and immaculate. The crew (Kelly and Alex) are hospitable, helpful, and extremely knowledgable -- about about the local waters and fish, about Hawaii, and about relevant scientific principles. (My kids loved learning about meteorology and the on-board technology.). And the fish are out-of-this world delicious to eat. read more

This fishing trip was SO MUCH FUN! I was a little hesitant when hubby said he wanted to spend half a day fishing while we were on vacation (we never fish) but I am so happy I went with it. Captain Alex and his first mate Adam were super cool, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. It seemed like almost immediately, we hooked a gigantic Ono fish. Then we went and dropped lines in several different spots - they knew all the right places. There were 6 of us and we all caught fish. Some of us caught several (me! Haha) We had 4 boys, ages 11-16 and they were never bored. One of my kids managed to hook a shark, unintentionally. He broke the line and went on his merry way! We also saw several sharks and a barracuda. It was amazing. I highly recommend, even if you think you don't like fishing. They also set you up with a ice filled cooler so you can bring food and drinks. Wish there were more stars to give!!! read more

Absolutely amazing experience, the crew was very fun and enjoyable giving helpful tips the whole way through. Now, time for the fishing! It was action packed the whole way. When we weren't catching the big ones we went for the more fun smaller blue line snapper. We caught 3 nice sized beautiful travail in total and many many snapper along the way. I was lucky enough to reel in a gorgeous skipjack at the end! The boat was nice and comfortable with space for the food and drinks we brought along. Overall the trip was unforgettable we caught a lot of fish. Having the boat to our group privately was amazing. Mike helped with fishing and Monroe guided us to the honey holes. Fantastic! We went fishing for my son's 12th birthday and we all had a great time. Mike and Alex were our excellent guides. Fun and interesting information and jokes. We had a lot of good luck from the beginning: When you leave the harbor they drop a few squid lures into the water for fast fish while they get out to the fishing spots. Three small tuna took the lures only a few minutes out of the harbor, and they yelled for my 12 year old to reel in that first one. At our first stop, most everyone reeled in a soldier fish, which are "good luck for a year" ... someone got a rare catch: a golden anthus. The fish didn't bite at the next stop, so Alex took us to another where the boat reeled in four pink snapper which are excellent eating. On the way back to harbor another tuna bit, making it two wavy back and two skipjack. Mike filleted all the pink snapper and divided it up. He even filleted one of the wavy back tuna for me to make sashimi which we had the next day. The pink snapper and the sashimi were amazing eating. If you catch something great and want to keep the memory, they are connected to an artist who does rice paper fish printing, a Japanese art form that takes the fish you caught and transfers its image to rice paper (google "maui fish printing") We picked out one of the wavy back tuna to have it printed to keep the memory of what my sons called the "best fishing trip ever." read more

Great time! I went by myself & joined another party of 6 & another single (8 of us total). We didn't catch anything huge but we caught several each, no one was shut out. All but 1 of us wanted to keep the catch for dinner and there was MORE than enough, we even left some for the crew. The guys are very knowledgeable and keep everything simple & safe. They do a fantastic job of making sure everyone is having an enjoyable time. Granted catching several fish was a plus but I would recommend them without a doubt. 4 days ago Spent more time moving the boat than fishing. 3-4 foot waves today and he told me to pee off the back of the boat with 9 people on board including kids. After asking again he gave in but complain about it. After cleaning my one fish, he did a terrible job leaving guts in it still. I took a friend on this fishing charter during our vacation on Maui. Now, I understand that fishing can be hit and miss. But, these guys are supposed to be professionals and know where the fish are. I spent the entire time spooling line out and reeling line in. Got not so much as a gold fish. Only one person got a 12" orange fish of some sort. I am a good tipper, but I tip for service rendered. If for $200 bucks you can't take me where I can actually catch something...ANYTHING, then don't expect a gratuity! read more
