Had an awesome experience on Four Winds snorkeling Molokini Crater. The staff was super down to earth and friendly. When you get on board they have a light breakfast with fruit, croissants and muffins that you can snack on, as well as fruit juice. The ride out, they explain some safety stuff and how the day is going to run. There are 2 floors to the boat with the upstairs being much more open. There were only about 30 people the day we went but I believe they have up to 100, so a more crowded day may have a different experience. Despite being in November, we ended up seeing several whales coming to the surface (apparently they are in abundance come January). They provide snorkel gear and fins, but you are more than welcome to bring your own (we borrow fins only as we brought our own masks). They provide a simple anti fog spray which worked great. They let us snorkel for about 2 hours in the surrounding area asking us to stay within 50 yards of the boat with a buddy. The staff answered all our questions about what fish we were seeing and recommendation for how to see the best fish. There is also a glass bottom that you can climb down a ladder in the boat to see the fish without going in the water. They served lunch while docked so you could eat while you took a break from snorkeling. It was fish tacos with a selection of fish, pork or being burger meat. They had a slaw and quinoa side and some chips. Nothing fancy but o found it delicious after working up an appetite snorkeling. They had cameras for rent (extremely expensive so I'd bring your own), a photographer that took picture you could purchase for a fee ($80 for all the pictures she took of us, again a little pricey), wet suit tops for rent ($10 each) and special snorkel masks if you are near sighted (I believe this had no additional charge). The boat was pretty new, clean and open which was nice. I would 100% go out with this company again.

Our family group of 12 went on a snorkeling adventure with Four Winds to Molokini, and had a blast! The crew was incredible to be around. Super friendly and willing to share info about the area and wildlife. We sailed for about an hour before reaching Molokini. After an easy-to-follow demonstration, we geared up. We enjoyed about 2 hours of snorkel time. What a sight!Afterwards, the Four Winds provided a yummy lunch. Then we headed back to Maui. The cruise itself was excellent. Very spacious and not overcrowded. Other ships pulling into the crater were jam packed to standing room. Once we saw that, we were very pleased with the choice we'd made. Highly recommend this company!

Four Winds Maui Snorkel Tour is the best way to see Maui from the water. We are on Maui twice a year. We are on the water with them every trip. They are a full service company. From Captain, to crew, to the snorkel gear, to the food it's all amazing. Reed, the dive master in charge of the snuba, makes sure you have an amazing experience. Alli, the photographer, does an amazing job capturing all of your memories or you can rent equipment from her to take your own. The food is just what you want after being in the water. They also always have a vegan option which we appreciate. The captain and crew make sure you have everything you need, answer any questions and make sure everyone has an amazing time. This trip we over slept and just missed our first booked outing with them this trip. We called the office, the team there were very kind and rebooked us for the next day without question. They are the best! We will see them next trip!

FIVE STARS FOR FOUR WINDS | My sister found the Four Winds excursion to Molokini Crater and while I was a little nervous about snorkeling without a guide, I was also super excited. We arrived a little later than we were hoping to arrive (parking wasn't easy) but luckily hopped right into line. The boat was a little dark inside and the bathroom was a little scary but still clean. There was breakfast waiting for us on the bar which we flocked to. I'm not much of a breakfast person but I did appreciate the chocolate muffin and fruit. Unlimited drinks were included - from alcoholic beverages (I LOVED the Maui Hard Seltzer) to water and non-alcoholic options. Also when the water got a little choppy, they also offered fresh ginger drink to settle the stomach, which I did need at certain times. The BBQ grilled lunch offered a few options and for some reason I was really wanting a hot dog - which really hit the spot after a long swim at the crater. Check the website to make sure you remember what to bring (and also what not to bring). Bring your own snorkel gear, but if you don't have your own, it's included with your ticket. However if you don't have a wetsuit, I definitely recommend renting one - just be sure to bring some cash. And if you want to learn to SNUBA, this is the place to do it! The crew caught a HUGE fish along the way which was cool to watch - if you were brave enough, you could also snap a pic with it. Ok so finally the crater is incredible to see up close (but don't touch it!!!) we hopped into the water and to see all the fish and the crater in that clear blue water is simply priceless. Definitely recommend Four Winds Maui for your Molokini Crater snorkel experience!

Amazing crew, very entertaining and engaging. The ship was a good size with room to move around. The food they prepared was good. The family enjoyed the snorkeling experience. They're actually talking about a snuba or scuba experience next time. There are a variety of upgrade options available. Be prepared to want to spend more than originally planned, but it'll be worth it. The wet suit should really be called a jacket. I've worn actual wetsuits. I don't think I'd have suggested that upgrade had I known earlier. Oh well. That upgrade wasn't pricey either way.

Treated very well by the professional crew. The cruise was smooth, tasty breakfast, the snorkeling equipment available. Snuba too. We took advantage of the family friendly glass bottom feature with long bench to observe the fish at Molokini. Very clean, large catamaran with two good size bathrooms. Buffet build your tacos lunch with choice of fish, shredded pork, or vegetarian. I shopped online at their store bought a cute tank top. 5 hours of relaxing fun. The crew was so pleasant and helpful. Photos were available too.

We just finished up our fourth trip with the Four Winds AM snorkel tour over the past nine years. As always, the crew and captain are professional, nice, and incredibly helpful. You can talk to them about baseball, fishing, geology, and just about everything else and they take the time to connect with you personally. Food is good for both grown-ups and kids, and the waterslide is always fun. Mahalo

Wet suites are available for a small fee to keep you warm since you can be in the water for over an hour.

My wife and I had the pleasure of sailing on this charter for the past two Monday's in a row. What a fabulous treat. For starters, a brand new boat! The Four Winds 3 is spacious, clean, smooth and the crew thoroughly enjoys hosting the passengers to ensure a good time is has by all. Any questions or concerns, the crew is there to help. Captain Sam and long time salty Captain Jay keep you safe, informed, and are able to seek out marine life on the way out and or back as is common. On our latest voyage, we got to see whales, spinner dolphins, and even bottle nose dolphins as we made our way back to the harbor in November. Crazy. The Molokini tour is lots of fun and you have ample time to see all kinds of see critters while snorkeling or even simply floating on one of their epic viewing boards- its like a TV pointed down into the crystal clear waters below. With the shallow depth and clear water, any skill level is able to see yellow fish, black fish, fun fish and more. Its a very special place and is a protected nature preserve. The coral is wonderful. Did I mention you get food and beverages at any time? Yes, breakfast and lunch, just head on down to the galley and enjoy coffee or even an adult beverage after your time is done in the water for safety reasons. I can't say enough great things about the entire crew who work so hard every day to make sure we, as residents or tourists have a great time experiencing the wonder an awe of natures animals out on the blue waters surrounding Maui HI. Do yourself a favor, book this cruise, you will be happy you did.

Just got back from our snorkel trip on the Four Winds! We did the snuba with Reed. Whole experience was amazing. Great day, great whale watching, and super amazing and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

I am a repeat customer. The staff and services were as excellent as I remembered in 2015. I appreciated Brian's 101 for Beginning Snorkeling. Floating and watching the sea life is a really cool experience that I recommend everyone do at least once. Lunch was provided. Pulled pork was as excellent as we remembered! And, seeing whales was the icing on the cake.

They were amazing. The food was excellent they took great care of us all. The history lessons the pictures and the time we got to spanning and out of the water. We will definitely use them again when we come back

Ask the Community - Four Winds Molokini Maui Snorkel Tour

What do you do with your personal items?

Aloha! You can place your items under the bench seating.

Planning to book with Four Winds II Maui for our family's upcoming trip in June. My toddler and I don't know swimming at all. Is Four Winds equipped to provide us assistance and how? Thanks!

Yes! Their boat comes fully equipped with life jackets and rafts to assist inexperienced swimmers. If you require more 1:1 attention, I'd contact them to see what options are available.

Hello we really want to swim w turtles. What is the best tour for me and my family to take?

Aloha! The afternoon trip makes it to Coral Gardns about 60% of the time, which is where you are most likely to swim with turtles.

Hello I have a 5 year old who is not a strong swimmer. Is this tour suitable for him?

Yes. They have these cool raft things that little kids can float on with a window so they can still see under the water. Obviously they still have life vests and floatation devices as well.

Could an elderly grandmother get on and off the boat? Does it board from a beach or a dock, with a ladder or stairs?

I think an elderly person could get on the boat actually. The staff is really helpful. That said, it would probably be tough for her to actually get in the water, if she wants to snorkel. She could probably scoot down the stairs on her butt, which…

For us, we prefer the Sunset Cocktail cruise as it's the perfect amount of food and drinks. This last trip, we took the whole family for the express snorkel trip. It's a shorter trip, which worked perfectly for the younger kids and didn't tie up a big amount of island time. Captain Nick and his crew was all about making sure all had a great time while keeping safety at the top of mind. They guaranteed we'd see turtles... we did! Immediately. I accused them of being remote controlled because they were there right on cue! I'm not a big snorkel guy, but I had a blast. We'll keep returning to Sea Maui. Greatest crew on Maui !!

On our vacation to Maui last week, we took trips out to the sea with Sea Maui twice. Our first trip…read moreout was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness!

Every detail felt so thoughtful and special. They not only guided us to the most beautiful spots, but also took amazing photos and made sure we fully enjoyed every moment. Their energy, professionalism, and genuine excitement for us made the whole experience even better. If you're in Maui, I cannot recommend booking with them enough. And if you can request a captain; definitely ask for Spencer and Sam. They're the best.

I booked a snorkeling tour for one person in March 2026. Both my booking confirmation through…read moreGetYourGuide and the confirmation from Hawaii Nautical clearly reflected that the reservation was for one guest. The evening before my tour, I called to confirm everything. During that call, the representative noticed what appeared to be a duplicate reservation and assured me she would cancel the duplicate booking. She also recommended that I contact GetYourGuide to verify I would not be double charged. GetYourGuide confirmed that my reservation had always been for only one person and that I had only been charged once. Despite this, approximately two hours before my scheduled departure, I received a call informing me that my tour was being canceled because there were not enough passengers. I even offered to purchase a second seat so the tour could proceed, but that offer was declined. What is most frustrating is not simply that the tour was canceled, but that this issue could have been communicated much earlier. If the company knew they were unlikely to meet their minimum passenger requirement, there was no reason to wait until two hours before departure. By that point, I had already arranged transportation, incurred cancellation fees on my ride, and lost the opportunity to book another snorkeling excursion during my vacation. Yes, I was refunded, but a refund is the bare minimum when a company cancels a service for reasons entirely within its control. The last-minute cancellation created unnecessary inconvenience and wasted valuable vacation time. If you're booking with Hawaii Nautical, especially as a solo traveler, be aware that your reservation may be canceled at the last minute if they don't have enough passengers. I would have appreciated more transparency and significantly more notice.

I can't recommend the Molokini & Turtle Town Snorkel Adventure aboard the Calypso enough! From the…read moremoment we stepped onboard until we returned to the harbor, everything was incredibly organized. The crew worked together like a well-oiled machine and made the entire experience seamless. A quick tip before you arrive: parking is $7, and you absolutely need to pay it. There were tow trucks literally sitting in the parking lot waiting for people who didn't pay. It definitely wasn't worth risking getting your rental car towed over $7! The food was surprisingly good! Breakfast included pastries, fresh fruit, muffins, a coffee bar, delicious juices, and water. They also served healthy snacks after snorkeling with fresh cucumbers, sliced bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, and hummus. Lunch was a choice of pulled pork sandwiches or deli sandwiches with chips, sodas, and other drinks. After snorkeling, alcoholic beverages were available for purchase as well. The boat itself was fantastic, with three bathrooms, two water slides, a jumping platform off the second deck, and even reef-safe sunscreen provided for everyone. The snorkeling was absolutely incredible! The coral was beautiful, and there was so much marine life. We saw countless tropical fish, two octopuses, a squid, needlefish, and more sea turtles than we could count. It truly felt like swimming in an aquarium. A special shoutout goes to Corine, who was the absolute highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, several people became seasick during the ride, and she cared for every single one of them with such kindness and compassion--bringing water, Dramamine, napkins, and constantly checking on them. She never seemed bothered and genuinely made those guests feel cared for. She was amazing! One tip: if you're prone to motion sickness, take Dramamine before the trip. We did see quite a few people getting sick over the side of the boat because the ocean can be rough. This excursion exceeded all of our expectations. Great food, an amazing crew, a beautiful boat, and some of the best snorkeling we've ever experienced. 10/10--we would absolutely do it again!

I was…read moreterrified of open water but the staff on Maui magic were very flotation device friendly. They were more concerned about my overall experience, not shaming me for my fear but rather making sure I enjoyed myself by being as accommodating as possible. And it wasn't just one person, it was all of them. Making this an extremely special and cathartic experience. 2. The food. Ok, I mean the eggs, muffins and croissants were awesome but can we talk about the tacos!!! Bro! The pork tacos were incredible. The mahi mahi tacos were also very good. The pineapple salsa was a must have! And this was all before I had 2 mai Tais... so this isn't my taste buds under the influence. 3. The charter itself was wonderful. The boat was comfortable, there was plenty of space. We went to 2 different spots and were given plenty of time to explore. The music was on point, a little Fleetwood Mac, Green Day, etc. it was eclectic alt chill. Legit they could make their own Spotify playlist, 4. It's not the cheapest, or the most expensive. But I don't know how it gets better than this and I think it was 100% worth the money. So a huge thank you to the crew of Maui magic. Maybe saying it was a magical experience seems kind of cheesy but go head and call me a big ole cheese ball, because I'm here for it!

Started off with a light breakfast and saw some dolphins on the way for our first stop in Molokini. Lunch was far better than expected which I had the grilled fish tacos and was probably better than I've had at one of the restaurants we've eaten at in Wailea. The slide was fun and grandson had a blast. Saw some turtles on the way back as the captain stopped so we could all check out. Only thing I thought probably shouldn't do is charge $10 for a wet suit top. It's not the amount but if they fell they need to charge, raise adult price up $5 bucks to cover since seems would be better to include as part of the total cost. I would highly recommend since we have done snorkel trips on other boats and this is was by far the best.

After checking in with him, he guided us to go to for gate boarding. Walked to the gate and was greeted by another quicksilver employee for boarding. In the process of boarding we took a group picture. Entered the boat and took our seats in front of the boat. Not to long, we were on our way out to sea. It was always my bucket list to see whales. It did not dissapoint, I was seeing whales left, right and back. Our captain was friendly and gave facts about the whales. He did not make the 2hr tour boring. Aside from whale watching, the employees were asking us if we wanted drinks. So we ordered a few adult beverages to keep us warm and enthusiastic on seeing whales. Overall, the best $49 spent. Whales are beautiful creatures. This was an eye opener for me. Educational experience. I would definitely do this again if given an opportunity. Keep in mind, when you take a whale tour you may not be as close to the whales. Some were .2 to .5 miles away. The whales drift and fast to move. Dont expect a free willy experience. Lol Still awesome to see island and its beauties. I highly recommend Kudos to the entire Quicksilver staff! Friendly and professional.
