Captain Brad and his crewmate Jade were amazing!! Our Family of 7 (Grandma and Grandpa in their 70's, and 3 kids 8, 12 and 13) hopped aboard the boat and off we went. Captain was knowledgeable about history and kept a story line going through the trip. Our first turtle stop didn't have maby turtles so we headed to his next spot where we found fish, turtles and better visibility. He told us about the island and points of interest as we passed them. Once we got to the backside of the crater he gave a fun, high speed, close up ride that thrilled everyone, especially my kiddos. Snacks and refreshments were served often. They kept a close eye on the group for safety and to ensure we were respecting the habitat. This was grandma and grandpas second trip with them and when they had the opportunity to bring the family, they knew exactly which snorkel tour to book for us It was an absolutely fantastic adventure. One we will never forget. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Great fun- reasonable priced- knowledgeable- great experience while in Maui. We will use them again. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to see whales with a great captain & marine biologist. No question was too crazy, too simple- too complex.

This was a truly amazing, positive, and competent team. They worked really hard to find the whales--and they succeeded! Great job, guys!

A snorkeling trip to Molokini Atoll with a side trip to swim with the green sea turtles right off the beach from the homes of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and a house once owned by David Bowie, was a must for our family Christmas Vacation on Maui. We selected this company due to their excellent reviews, and we're sure glad we did! Captain Ryan and deckhands Jade and Chloe were friendly, funny, knowledgeable and accommodating. And even though the tour was for snorkeling only, Ryan decided to throw in some dolphins and whale watching we hadn't expected! Lunch and snacks were very good, too. The 60' Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) was maneuverable, comfortable, and with FOUR 350 HP Yamaha outboards (that's 1,400 HP), VERY fast! Just an outstanding day for the whole family. First rate all the way!

Ok. I'll admit I was skeptical when I saw the size of the boat compared to the others going out to molokini . But boy could I not have been more wrong !!! The "REEF EXPLORER " was awesome ! It was def a more personal experience and the boat ride was super fun on its own. We saw a bunch of humpback whales to and from the dive spots !! One even jumped out of the water like 10 feet and did a huge splash lol. It was epic !!! Captain and the first mate were both super nice and helpful. I'd recommend this operation and it was truly one of the best things I've done maybe ever lol. We saw LOTS of wildlife total. Tons of sea turtles, whales ( could even hear whale sound under the water at the dive spots ) angel fish, an eel, puffer fish, ribbon fish , a needlefish, and a decent assortment of other fish and some endangered birds over on Molokini. 10/5 stars. *** this is an honest review and I have not been compensated in any way for writing this ***

OH MY GOODNESS! What a fabulous tour, with Garrett, and Esteban, they took such good care of us. Love the music and the vibes, were so good! First we went to turtle town (my nickname) and we saw baby turtles and adults, I almost got kissed... What a sweet adventure. The guys stopped for some epic whale watching. Flippers were flying, flirting was happening and apparently when it comes to whales, size does matter...Lol... Molokini Crater was an underwater aquarium with all my favorites making an appearance. The rainbow wrasse, tangs, and an Angel fish

    Amazing humpback!

Went out to see the humpbacks with Brad and Esteban last Friday. Beautiful day, amazing whale watching and snorkeling. Together these guys show you a very memorable day that you will certainly want to do again! Beside manning the boat Brad is an awesome DJ and music always makes everything better! In a nutshell....,,get on board! Mahalo, thank you and muchos gracias guys!

What a great day out snorkeling! We thoroughly enjoyed the crew and their knowledge. After snorkeling with the turtles we even saw a humpback whale and calf on our way back. Lovely lunch as well as a good time!

I would 100% recommend taking this trip while you are in Maui. It is an experience you will never forget. Snorkeling was fun and accessible because they had prescription masks available, which is a must if you cannot/do not wear contacts and want actually see the ocean life. We had a plenty of time to float and observe the fish. Lunch was delish and they prepared some tasty gluten free noodles JUST for me. We could not have been more lucky. I called to make sure there was vegan options for food and also the person that I spoke with made it easy to purchase 4 tickets for my father and stepmother as well as for my friend and I. We arrived early and found parking. There is also easy parking on the pier for a dollar an hour. I booked these tickets about a month in advance. Why I say we were very fortunate is because the weather although cloudy on the way to Molokai cleared up twice while we were in the water. The breakfast was fresh there was croissants small corn muffins and fresh fruit as well as deviled eggs. My parents enjoyed the devil eggs tremendously. The croissants were very fresh tasting. There were plenty of fish to snorkel and see. The crew was spectacular the captain pointed out different formations and shared interesting history 2 and from the island. What made the trip spectacular was the incredible amount of whales we saw. At 1 point the captain cut the engine because whales played around our boat going underneath several times. It was a trip of a lifetime.

I am writing this review while on the boat because instead of going to the crater, they took us to a spot easily accessible from the road with little fish/diversity. Snorkeling off the beach from our hotel has much more fish and diversity than the spot they took us to. Waste of money and more importantly precious vacation time as you might be stuck at an awful spot for 5 hours. The day is not particularly windy either so I suspect it was due to the amount of children on the boat is why they neglected to deliver on going to the crater and instead went somewhere utterly useless.

They always had Eddie keeping an eye on everyone in the water and helping people that dropped things that sank to the bottom. Eddie made sure you didn't get too far away. I appreciated the free mineral based coral safe sunblock. The hour at the crater and turtle town went by so quickly. Definitely try to be the first one off the boat if you can to maximize your time. They provide wetsuits for rentals if you need it. They also have a lady that is an underwater photographer and she did a nice job of trying to get photos of everyone which I think is the most difficult job on the ship. I liked her photos but thought $45 for a single photo was a bit too steep. I appreciate the fruits and pastures from Whole Foods and the coffee and also the sandwiches and potato salad and juice for lunch. They were delicious. There is something about snorkeling that makes you hungrier than normal. I always felt safe on the boat. A couple of things to point out, the boat gets pretty full so if you want to a covered seat get there early and if you want to sit in the very front you will get wet from the waves coming through the netting. Also the parking there was much more than I thought and read. It was $18ish dollars for 5.5 hrs I was parked there. The parking on the parking only goes up to 3 hours so don't risk getting a ticket even that parking is like $1/hr. The only other thing g which is totally out of the control of Malolo is the amount of tour companies to contend with when you get to the crater. It felt too crowded and too many people there. At Turtle Town there were hardly any turtles on the day we went unfortunately. I had seen more turtles on our own at other beaches than at turtle town, but I did see a couple of turtles. In general, people aren't aware of snorkeling etiquette and oblivious to their surroundings. I had snorkelers cut me off, crash into me, and taking their sweet time getting on and off the boat with the single stairs. Overall a good trip if you want to get out to the crater, but as for turtles, go to a beach on west Maui and you won't really have any issues.

Breakfast included pastries, fresh fruit, muffins, a coffee bar, delicious juices, and water. They also served healthy snacks after snorkeling with fresh cucumbers, sliced bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, and hummus. Lunch was a choice of pulled pork sandwiches or deli sandwiches with chips, sodas, and other drinks. After snorkeling, alcoholic beverages were available for purchase as well. The boat itself was fantastic, with three bathrooms, two water slides, a jumping platform off the second deck, and even reef-safe sunscreen provided for everyone. The snorkeling was absolutely incredible! The coral was beautiful, and there was so much marine life. We saw countless tropical fish, two octopuses, a squid, needlefish, and more sea turtles than we could count. It truly felt like swimming in an aquarium. We did see quite a few people getting sick over the side of the boat because the ocean can be rough. This excursion exceeded all of our expectations. The evening before my tour, I called to confirm everything. During that call, the representative noticed what appeared to be a duplicate reservation and assured me she would cancel the duplicate booking. She also recommended that I contact GetYourGuide to verify I would not be double charged. GetYourGuide confirmed that my reservation had always been for only one person and that I had only been charged once. Despite this, approximately two hours before my scheduled departure, I received a call informing me that my tour was being canceled because there were not enough passengers. I even offered to purchase a second seat so the tour could proceed, but that offer was declined. What is most frustrating is not simply that the tour was canceled, but that this issue could have been communicated much earlier. If the company knew they were unlikely to meet their minimum passenger requirement, there was no reason to wait until two hours before departure. By that point, I had already arranged transportation, incurred cancellation fees on my ride, and lost the opportunity to book another snorkeling excursion during my vacation. Yes, I was refunded, but a refund is the bare minimum when a company cancels a service for reasons entirely within its control. The last-minute cancellation created unnecessary inconvenience and wasted valuable vacation time. If you're booking with Hawaii Nautical, especially as a solo traveler, be aware that your reservation may be canceled at the last minute if they don't have enough passengers. I would have appreciated more transparency and significantly more notice.
