Food was great but we're used to having rice with our Chinese food. Not included! Waitress was friendly.

We ordered the Half Roast Duck ($32.00) , Seafood Bird's Nest ($32.00), Lunch Special General Tsao's Chicken with Fried Rice ($19.00) , Chicken Lettuce ($18.00) and Siu Mai ($6.50) . The roast duck was really good actually. The general tsao's chicken and chicken lettuce was good, I've definitely been to other spots that were better but I don't have anything bad to say about it. What I really disliked about this place was the Seafood Bird's Nest. Initially, they thought I ordered a Seafood Delight, but my order was missing the noodles. But they basically just fried up some noodles real quick and threw it under. And that part wouldn't have been a problem for me, but it was honestly waaaay too salty (and I like really salty! so that says a lot to me) It was difficult to eat to be honest, but I of course didn't want to waste it. The seafood included 3 pieces of shrimp, about a stick of imitation crab meat, a couple small pieces of scallop, and A LOT of calamari pieces that were soooo tough to chew, we couldn't even really eat them! For the chicken lettuce, they gave us about 3 full pieces of lettuce that was cut up and then charged us $4.00 for more pieces of lettuce which is pretty pricey lol. The siu mai was mid.. but you get what you pay for. There was also a 3% additional kitchen surcharge which was weird...? Still not sure what that was for lol. And then on top of that there's another 3% charge if you use credit card, so just be aware of that. The service was fine, because there was basically no one else in the restaurant anyway. Also - my boyfriend told me they had no soap in the restroom at all which was inconvenient. Overall, the price of their food does not make sense for the level of quality. We were told that the Chinese food scene was pretty non existent. And the people were right. First, the regular menu items run close to $30 each, much more than we pay in high price Honolulu. We decided to try and save money an purchase the lunch specials which run $19-$22 dollars each. I ordered the Sweet and sour, spicy chicken with the side of fried rice. The chicken was heavily breaded but the sauce was nice. The fried rice was a dark brown mixture that didn't look like any rice I've had before. My companion ordered the curry chicken with vegetables with her side of chow mein. The curry was ok and so was the chicken but the Bell pepper needed to be cooked a little longer. The chow mein noodles were more like spaghetti noodles with seasoning. The restaurant doors were wide open and the fans were spinning and the air conditioning was turned off. I wanted to give this place a good review as I selected the place based on existing Yelp reviews but sorry can't do it. Good tasting food. Friendly polite staff. Spacious dining room. Lots of parking. Good for small or large groups. My wife and I chose to give this place a try after some hit and misses in Maui. We had some questions on the menu as the dish names and descriptions aren't quite discernible. What I have to say here is, each dish was prepared with quality ingredients and tasted great. If the names of the dishes were different, I don't think this place would have any negative reviews. It's just hard to know what you're ordering from the menu, but if you saw it , you would know . As I said, each dish was delicious , but would be much better with a picture menu. The place is definitely not a Thai place as much as a Chinese fusion with some Thai flavors. Maui Lemongrass got the job done but didn't quite amaze. The salt-and-pepper shrimp was a standout--crispy and flavorful. The eggplant was solid too. On the other hand, the popcorn chicken lacked seasoning, and what I expected to be a Thai curry was really just stir-fried veggies with sauce. Growing up in San Francisco, Honolulu and Sacramento, what was once a monthly celebration of Chinese food shared with family and friends on early weekends, diminished to coffee and croissants after moving to rural Maui. Finally, from recent Yelp posts, I realized that Lemongrass is offering Dim Sum on Maui! It's not a huge dumpling menu, but it has favorites that are worth seeking out. As virtually the only ones at 10:30am Sat we selected a few dim sum dishes and ordered roast duck. Food was delivered quickly and we savored the fresh dumplings. Shrimp, Pork, Chicken Feet, Sticky Rice were expertly seasoned and prepared. Even the extra large Jin Dui Sesame Balls filled with sweet bean paste were fried and served piping hot. A few we hope they'll consider offering are Fried Turnip Cake (Lo Bak Go), Taro Pastry (Wu Gok), Shanghai Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) and perhaps other baked goods like Char Siu Bao or Curry Turnovers. The restaurant quickly filled up and we'll be back more frequently. Gather 'round the table and let me show you how to Yelp. Like a secret shopper, Lemongrass seemed to pop out of nowhere, unannounced and ready to work. A friend texted that something opened or was about to open in Kele Center. After a quick search on social media, there they were. I texted another friend who's also "in-the-know", and she reported hearing an ad on the radio. Ask anyone in the central valley what we lack aside from restaurants in general, are Chinese restaurants. All of the beloved, legit places closed years ago (Golden Jade, Ming Yuen, Canton Chef, Wing Sing, Golden Palace, Dragon Dragon). ATMOSPHERE: They've taken over the former Poi By The Pound (and Denny's before that) spot. The layout is the same as before, just cleaned up. Indoor seating only, simple decor, with big windows for an airy feel. Free parking is plentiful. MENU: A handful of Thai selections but mostly Chinese soups, noodles, seafood, poultry, meats and rice dishes. Kid's menu. No alcohol. FOOD: Hot & Sour Soup - $5.00 (bowl-sized) The only downfall of this was a lack of salt. Everything else was textbook - the veggies, thicker gravy texture, heat and tanginess. Egg Drop Soup - $4.00 (bowl-sized) Similar to the hot & sour soup, the dish simply lacked salt. Pan Fried Dumpling - $12.00 (6 pcs.) Deep-fried and stuffed with pork, they were mainstream. The included garlicky soy-based dipping sauce was definitely required. Chicken Lettuce - $14.00 AKA lettuce wraps. Half a head of iceberg, sweet-savory drizzle sauce and minced chicken mixture made for a delish dish. Black Bean Chicken - $18.00 Kudos that the ratio of chicken outnumbered the zucchini, onions and red & green peppers! Spot-on black bean and savory flavors. Beef Broccoli - $24.00 Dark brown gravy, perfectly-cooked broccoli and tender strips of beef made for the best BB on the rock! The only negative was the high price and average portion size. Shrimp Fried Rice - $19.00 The dish looked so promising with plump shrimp, scrambled egg, peas and carrots but it fell flat in terms of flavor, or lack thereof. On one hand, it's a great side dish to their flavorful entrees. On the other hand, if it's your main dish, you'll need to doctor it up with salt or better yet, shoyu, oyster sauce and dashi, but that'll mean cooking it again which defeats the purpose of takeout. SERVICE: I phoned in my order to a friendly guy and was quoted a 25-minute wait. I arrived to an empty eatery at 4:45pm on a Saturday afternoon. One of my dishes was still being prepared, so I had a short not even 5-minute wait but that gave me time to look around, snap a few pics and made small talk with the guy who took my order. Turns out the owners are local and had a restaurant in Florida. TIP: Two servings of steamed white rice came with the order. OVERALL: It's not Chinatown-level but I appreciate the baby steps. What started out as a 3-star review morphed into a 4 as their effort of bringing Chinese cuisine back to Kahului needs to be recognized. read more

Walked in on a Friday night with my family (4 adults, 1 baby) at about 6:15p and we're seated right away. Employees were welcoming and and friendly. Our server "auntie" was great! Very attentive. Gave us time to look over the menu. Checked in on us and refilled our waters frequently. Lots of tables available for family style dining. Restaurant was a little warm. Lots of food options! We ordered the Peking spareribs - tasty, wouldn't order again Sweet and sour pork - very tasty! Crispy pork, light sauce Lemongrass chicken - wish there was more lemongrass Chicken crispy noodles - noodles are thin style - but crispy. do not expect cake noodle Shrimp egg foo young - my favorite dish! 10/10 Side order of fries - crispy and hot Bill came out to about $115 for all our dishes and fed our family of 4 well, with a plate of leftovers! Absolutely delicious! The Tom yum gung soup as excellent! It wasn't the normal Tom yum that you experience from traditional Thai restaurants. It had some extra spices in there that gave it a wonderful kick. I also ordered the volcano shrimp. Beware... it's a LOT of food so either come hungry or be ready to share or take some home. Popped in by myself for a quick bite to eat while Christmas shopping on a Friday night. I wanted a treat and to try out a new restaurant and saw the green sign glowing in the dark as I drove by enticing me in. The restaurant was quite empty when I arrived just after 6pm'ish which surprised me, and they seemed a little disconcerted that I was eating alone initially. However once I put my order in and started to eat they seemed to be more accepting and I had 4 different staff check in on me as they walked by, making sure I had everything I needed. So, great customer service, and I noticed the serving staff knew quite a few of their customers which is always a good sign of repeat diners. A few more customers arrived during my visit and they seemed to be larger family groups sharing plates. The restaurant is large and set up for groups and feels airy and open with large windows and booths lining the sides. I chose the Basil Shrimp, less heat that I expected as it had a chilli pepper sign beside it on the menu and the basil wasn't strong, however it was delicious with plenty of tail on shrimp and veggies, and a good dark gravy. Only white rice was available and it was fluffy and hot. I wanted to try their Tom Yum but it only came in a larger 2 person size and I couldn't order it for a single serve which is a great pity. They serve alcohol, at least I know they serve beers as a table of folks were drinking them. Unfortunately they don't offer Kamaaina rates which means I won't be returning often. My meal of rice and Basil Shrimp came to a total of $33 which is pricey. I think this restaurant deserves more customers than it had on a Friday night, but it might be because I was there at 6pm instead of 7pm. read more

Been coming here since it open. It's difficult to find a good Chinese restaurant especially living in San Francisco & going to Chinatown & clement st ( the 2nd Chinatown in SF). Go where it is authentic like steam fish, potstickers, delicious duck & steam pork buns. Service is very good & attentive to your needs making sure your water glass is filled. Fantastic staff and gave us great recommendations like their Mongolian Beef. We also had to order our go-to Bbq pork friend rice. We had both with medium spice and they were incredibly flavorful- the best Chinese I've had in many years. We will return when next in Maui! I have been here for dinner service a few times. This trip however I went for lunch I was in Kahului running some errands and wanted a nice sit down lunch. Then I remembered that Lemongrass has lunch. So I figure hey I'm gonna try it out. When I got there they had people at a few tables but not as busy as the times I have gone for dinner. I must say I really enjoyed my lunch. I had the lo mein, fried rice and general chicken. The portions were very good and the food tasted great. In fact I haven't had one bad dish from them. The dinner menu is good if you have several people because it is family style or if you're really hungry. I like how they have the restaurant decorated. Simple yet nice. My family and I have enjoyed several meals here and I enjoyed my lunch. So I would definetly recommend and it's nice to have a Chinese restaurant. Maui could definetly use a few. read more
