Took an hour drive from Kihei to visit Maui wine and it was well worth the drive. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious pineapple wine really is, I can't remember the name but the sparking version was my favorite. We also did a tasting and the rose was delicious. They won't allow you to purchase and open a bottle there so only if you are looking to take it to go but the per glass prices are reasonable. They have a big porch area to sit and relax. My boyfriend came to MauiWine after noticing that there was a winery in Maui with a lot of pineapple specialized wines! This place is up a bit further from where we were, but on the drive there were so many beautiful views we even stopped for a photo. It ended up being one of my favorite photos on the trip! As for MauiWine, we made a reservation incase it would be crowded and there were not too many people when we got there. Parking was really easy and we were seated right away in the front area. I did not notice there was a back seating too, but we did not mind where we were. We went for the Pineapple tasting with Hula O Maui, Maui Blanc, and Maui Splash. I think Maui Blanc was one of their most popular flavors and while I do not have a great taste for wine, I can see why people love it! I would definitely recommend MauiWine if you or your friends want to try a bit more unique flavors. read more

We went up for a tasting while visiting Maui. They had a few flights to offer and then mentioned they could make on catered to you if you chose that route. My husband and I both got their pre-set flights to taste them all. Then he also tried a glass of the Syrah which is their flagship wine. The Syrah was good, definitely young as a 2020, but I was impressed that they were able to harvest a good crop. The "pineapple" wines were fun to try and very fitting with Maui vibes - fruity and sweet. The location itself is 5 star. Beautiful views on the way up. Would have loved to see some kind of benefit for buying wine - for example a waived tasting fee if you spend $50 on wine or something. The Syrah was $19 a glass and the bottle was $55, seemed a little steep for a glass. I would expect $12-14 based on wineries in the PNW. Other than that service was great and the winery is adorable. This winery is a tradition for us and we always make a point to visit when we are on the island. My husband and I chose two different tastings and shared both and got a small charcuterie board to go with. We purchased a bottle of the Kula to bring home, compete with their packing sleeve (which is adorable and so smart). We're saving the bottle for our first anniversary. This is the cutest little winery in upcountry. We didn't make it in time for their daily tours, but we did get to do a wine tasting. We opted for both tastings and I really liked their sparkling rose, Syrah, and red blend. Ended up buying 6 bottles to take home to O'ahu. While I have yet to visit their vineyard, my spouse brought home a bottle of Lokelani Hawaiian Sparkling Rosé. The highlight of it is that it's 100% made on Maui from grape growing to bottling. I had no idea this place even existed. The taste is very smooth, not overly sweet, with no bite. I was pleasantly surprised. While I'm a true blue beer guy, sparkling wine and Champagne will take precedence when available, and this selection will be highly endorsed! read more

While eating across the street at Ulupalakua ranch asked to use the bathroom and not sure if this was a trick to get us over at a winery but it worked because they share the facilities on these grounds. Well after a quick function break we wondered over inside the winery but to be honest not a lot of arm twisting involved to get us in. These grounds are gorgeous with tons of room not only in the picturesque park like settings but the house that is the winery is impeccable. We had such a great time here chilling for about 45-60 minutes sipping on different kinds of their specialty wines. For us we really enjoyed the 2015 Syrah and their signature pineapple wine. Plus the staff working here was outstanding and we really enjoyed chatting it up with them and others visiting the winery. Our 22 yr old daughter who hates wine ( don't worry we are still working on her) LOL really enjoyed their sweet wine tasting and especially their signature pineapple wine. Our younger daughters passed the time playing checkers outside and a family favorite corn hole. Just like my previous review if you are in Kula on Hwy 37 these two places Ulupalakua Ranch and Maui Wines are a must stop. read more

Such a fun place to visit nestled in a very pretty area! The drive there is beautiful - we came from Kihei to stop by for the afternoon. It was crowded, but we still had a great time! We were able to do the regular tastings, which I highly recommend. We did both the diverse & tropical tastings - I loved the diverse one more, but they were both fun to do. The wine is pretty good! It's different than what we are used to, but also not what we were expecting! I definitely suggest coming here if you are looking for something fun & relaxing to do outside of the beach. No, I've never dreamed of pineapples, but I do sometimes catch myself day dreaming about drinking this wine. Dry beginnings, semi-sweet finish, and so flavorful. Softly linen in color with a lite pineapple fragrance, it's great on a hot (or cold) day, and I found it purely by chance. Maui Wine at Ulupalakua Viney is a converted white washed, ranch style home. Here, sampling is free, and pours are generous. When I was there, the place was fairly packed, but I was very satisfied with the service. Maui Wine, as the names suggest, is located at the foot of mount Haleakala in the town of Kula, Maui. Relatively a dot on the map, in the middle of nowhere, but (there's always a "but"?), you don't have to travel all the way to Kula, Maui to get this splendid little wine. It can be purchased in the mainland at CVS Drugstore, Von's Market, Bevmo, as well as Albertsons' Market...at least that's what I read. I need confirmation. Or it can be ordered online...https://store.mauiwine.com/all-wines-c25.aspx. Do yourself a favor. I'm talking about the Maui Blanc here. It has been 10 years since I last visited Maui Wine. A lot has changed, not for the better, and can't be blamed on post-Covid pandemic. Visiting a winery and its tasting room is as much about the experience as the wine. Best to have low expectations for customer service. No explanation of the tastings but rather they prefer you to read a preprinted card placed under the glasses. The wines are what to be expected from a tropical island (pineapple based) with some attempts with other sourced varietals. Save yourself time and buy a bottle from ABC Stores and enjoy. read more

If you are into wine, history, beautiful scenery, you have to stop by this place located in Maui's Upcountry. Its about about 90 min from Lahaina but well worth the drive. It gets to 25 mph speed limit but the road is in good shape. And the views down into the valley and Kihei and Makena. They have a good size parking lot to pull into. The tasting room is a short walk to the old King Kalakaua cottage built for him and his queen when they came to the old sugar mill to relax and socialize. The tasting room is half that and a museum showing history of the old sugar mill owned by James Makee including the King and his visits. I got a $15 flight which had some reds. We started with the 100% Pineapple wines. The Maui Splash was crisp, smooth and delicious. My wife who does not like grape based wines liked it. We ended up getting a bottle and a couple of the yummy flavored olive oils. I got to the reds of my flight and the 2014 Syrah is my favorite. It is smooth with hints of delicious fruit. We also did the tour at 1:30 and learned lots of great history if thr sugar mill amd winery and fun anecdotes of the Kings visits. So happy we came up and totally recommend you take a trip through Upcountry and visit the winery and the Ranch across the street which has delicious homegrown beef and lamb burgers. read more

Where else would you get pineapple wine? I thought a visit to MauiWine was worth at least one visit because of their pineapple wines. It wasn't a particularly busy day, but the staff looked aloofly as my fiance and I walked into the tasting room. Hmm...a little smile or a nod would've been fine when we made an eye contact. Nope, nothing. She actually looked pissed. Maybe she was dealing with some rude customers? I don't know. Wine tasting was little disappointing as well. I'm not a wine expert, but when I visited wineries in Napa I had some great tastings. Nothing in the tasting at MauiWine made me happy. There. That's how I measure good wine. Something that makes me happy. :) Everything I tasted was little too acidic and sour for my palate. Wine tasting was $10 - $15 for flight of 5 wines. We were lucky enough to be there about 30 minutes before a free tour so we joined one after our wine tasting. That was actually a treat. Our guide was super friendly and knowledgable. We learned about the history of the winery and got to see the pineapple wine crushing site. I'm giving two stars for the tour and 1 star for the beautiful winery itself. read more

We enjoy go here to taste the great wines on Maui.. Our two favorite is the 1. Maui Splash (Tasting Notes. The development of this extremely popular wine was one of continual transformation. Over the years, Splash has changed not only in its style but also in its use and application. Originally developed as a bar mixer for Makena Resort, it was a very sweet wine. In time, it was introduced into the tasting room as a type of cooler or spritzer and was actually poured along with lemon-lime soft drinks. Eventually, the desire to have the wine stand on its own created what we now have today - a sweet, but not overly sweet, pineapple wine with a touch of the fragrant passion fruit. An easy-to-drink wine to say the least. A wine for any occasion - an aperitif, the perfect pairing for fresh fruit and soft cheeses, delightful with desserts and just the right wine for sipping on the beach!) 2.) Mele (Wine Tasting Notes. A medium-bodied, juicy red that leads with bright red berries, but is quickly followed with more complex flavors of baking spice, dried oregano, marjoram, and eucalyptus. We emailed them back as well and called a bunch of times and left a voice message asking to call us back. This was days ago. It no one responded so far. This is my second time here and I loved it as much as I did the first time. It's a drive out here --- about 30 minutes from the Upcountry Farmers Market, our previous stop --- but a stunning and worth every curve type of drive with a great views of ocean. We sat outside with a view of the incredible garden. I had a glass of the Hula O Maui pineapple sparkling wine and my wife had the Maui splash pineapple passion fruit. The wine was light, refreshing and truly unique. The woman who served us was very friendly. I bought a bottle of the Hula O Maui wine to take home. Also unique is the history of the winery, how it was founded in the 19th century. I spent a good 30 minutes just reading the various placards describing the history of the place and the people who developed it. The garden with spectacular towering trees is truly one of a kind and worth spending some time in. I think Maui Wine is one of those places that is a destination in its own right. read more

I can't imagine how you wouldn't love the place! FREE WINE people! We stopped by on our way up the 7 sacred pools, many people also stop here on the road to Hana. It's a great stop to break up any Trip. We missed one of the free tours (10:30 AM daily) but if you can definitely check it out. We had a great time talking to the gentlemen working the counter and trying our free tasting. We bought a bottle of the Maui Splash for $14 - which is what it runs for two people to even do a wine tasting at most places. The views were STUNNING, the grounds extremely well kept, and the staff was friendly.. and again have I mentioned they have FREE WINE HERE?! I would absolutely recommend Maui Wine to anyone in the area, it is not a terribly long excursion but it was pleasant, fun and totally unique.
