We decided to go out for dinner to celebrate finally finishing the "install" of 15 cuyd of mulch in our landscape areas as well as around the fenced in perimeter of our back yard. We decided to go to Inside The Five - Sylvania. It was Sunday night almost 8pm. IT5 closes at 9pm. Our choices for dinner: Cob Salad with honey-lime vinaigrette; and my "sirprise" dinner selection made by our bartender/server was the Pico Deluxe sandwich with a side of hummus and fresh veggies (cucumber, carrots, and celery). As we were eating dinner, the thunder and lightning kicked in and there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, then Watch for the area. I had never been here before and I decided to come for my birthday brunch instead of going to dinner. It was well worth it! They had great options for everyone, even my kid. I felt the server was sub-par. I wasn't impressed. She was nice but I felt like she had something else going on or something. It wasn't busy so I was kind of surprised she wasn't a little friendlier. Overall though I liked the place and the ambiance. I will say what could make the place even better is having screens for the windows during those sunny hours of the day as our table was in the full sun the whole time which can take away from the experience. Although I like the natural light I don't like being blinded or overheating. Also, the tater tots were delicious but extremely crunchy. Been here twice now. First time we had a burger and a salad, both of which were good, competently cooked and had great flavor. Today we had Sunday brunch & beer. They weren't busy at all when we came in at 11, but they quickly filled up! Tried the Strawberry ale and the peach ale and both were good, but the peach was better! Didn't even taste like beer! Delicious. They have many tasty sounding fruity beers, so if you like that kind of thing, this is your place! Western skillet w no peppers, sub bacon for ham. Side of fruit, sour cream. Eggs over easy. This could have used more cheese & bacon, but the potatoes were pretty good and the flavors were nice. The side of fruit wasn't for me, tho...all honeydew with a few tiny pieces of pineapple. My partner had the Chicken & gravy , which he said was "Reeally quite good. The chicken breast was beautifully seasoned, juicy, crispy - possibly one of the better chicken breasts we've had. The sausage gravy was meaty & flavorful, and the sausage in it was great, which doesn't happen often in a gravy. The biscuit was fluffy & crispy and had a good flavor. A spot that delivers tasty food that is equaled by the service. Our server couldn't have been nicer. Answered all of our questions, checked with the kitchen when he wasn't sure, was extremely attentive, and FAST! Start with the smoked wings - they're outstanding! Smokey flavor, slightly crispy on the outside but tender & moist on the inside. We tried the mango-habanero version and the honey barbeque. Both were seriously tasty and we will order them any time we return. For the main, we each tried a burger variation and they were all very good. With GF bun options and several varieties to choose from, it's a solid bet. We opted for fries as the side and they were very well prepared (not overcooked at all) and might have been better than the burgers. The Double Smash Burger was perfect on the smash with the nice crispy lacy edges on the patty while being juicy and perfectly cooked. Both regular and GF buns were soft and tasty. We finally made it to the original ITF, and it was pretty good! But it could be better. Like the Perrysburg location, which we enjoy a lot, the atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is super friendly. And like the Perrysburg location, the food is extremely heavy, and one note. High quality, but overwhelming after you've had a few bites. Perhaps a homemade hot sauce or just some contrasting brightness from fruit or pickles would help but everything hits your palate with the same tone and richness. Not something hearty midwesterners complain about, so I am sure I am in the minority with this observation. That said, Inside The Five brings a brunch standard to the region that is admirable. We had probably the best chicken sandwich we've ever had. We had the Chicken Pico Deluxe. It was extremely juicy and well seasoned. The lemon aioli was out of this world. Every single bite was an explosion of flavor that left us craving more. To be honest we didn't take pictures of our meals prior to diving in because we initially thought the food for a craft brewery would be mid level and we only review places we like and would recommend to our friends. However, we were pleasantly surprised and wished we took a picture. The service was excellent. Our server, Johnny, was very attentive and made our drinks well. It wasn't a super busy night which we didn't mind as it allowed us to really focus on the food and drinks. Overall very great and mellow vibes for a Tuesday date night but also wasn't boring. My friend and I wanted to explore the Sylvania historical village and found this place crowded with customers at 6pm. We decided to get dinner here because it smelled so good as we walked around. There was a small wait time of 10 minutes and our seat at a booth. My favorite part about this restaurant is their big local beer list and an amazing cocktail menu. I decided to get the megaphone and my friend got the main st mule. We loved the drinks and would definitely go back to try more. I really like this restaurant style because it's a very good place for hangout and family. Food: the southwest salad was pretty solid, came out with fresh veggies would like to try a different type next time for variety The smash burger was decent. Tasty but nothing was outstanding. I went to this restaurant with friends. Parking can be a little tricky since it is on Main Street in a prime spot in downtown Sylvania. Yet, parking is free in the parking lot, so there's that! It's a welcoming modernized warehouse type of space. Once inside, you'll find a bright ambiance with lots of windows. Seating-wise, it is wooden chairs and booths. The older I get, and for anyone with back problems, the more I wish for comfy cushioned seating anywhere I go. Yet it is an upscale sunny casual brewery vibe in the dining area. There is also a bar section, which seemed slightly darker and smaller. The menu is great, with something for everyone in a general upscale burger/chicken joint. My chicken breast sandwich with pico de mayo and avocado was delicious and their fries were amazing! Everything was of good quality and very fresh. One friend who ordered the Smash Burger wouldn't order it again because she found the sauce rather bland, but enjoyed the fries. Given that my friend only ate half of her sandwich, we expected our server to ask about a to-go box, which would have given my friend the opportunity to express that she wasn't blown away by the sandwich. However, that didn't happen though our server was otherwise very attentive and knowledgeable about our food. I was hungry and ate most of my sandwich and generally don't take home fries as an unnecessary temptation. Everyone else seemed pleased with their meals. A local favorite- whenever I'm in town i feel as if I'm always here with my local friends. Expect a wait as it's rare we've been seated right away. Most times foods out in an average amount of time but last time took about 45+ minutes to get our meal. Menu is small but some heavy hitters. A good brewery can make or break a night as you never really know what to expect meaning you can read into what's into certain brews but actually trying them is a very different story! Coming here I really was kinda unsure thinking it would be mediocre at best but wow I couldn't have been more wrong as everything that we enjoyed here was delicious in it's very own way! So I'll start with the food now that was just totally yummy so on this given day I happened to be with my mom and generally when we go out we tend to share things so it was cool to try a bit of everything we ordered together. The bangers with Mac and cheese now that was yummy the Mac and cheese had the perfect amount of cheesy goodness it was thick just the way I like it with a hint of garlic to set the whole thing the right way but don't count out those delicious bangers they were cooked perfectly and had that delicious sausage taste to them that went perfect with the rest of the dish you really couldn't have asked for this to be any better it was perfect. For the other entree we ordered the Nashville chicken it was a perfectly crispy chicken sandwich with a huge mound of pickles on it to set off some of the heat this was one of the better hot chicken sandwiches I've had as it had just the right amount of heat but not too hot at least for me as I thrive on spicy goodness! The hot chicken went very well with the fries which were perfectly seasoned with some sea salt to make them just the right way that they should be. Now for the brew like how else can I describe the flight we had other than perfect as we had a few very different choices from a seltzer to a stout it was perfect. My favorites of the flight had to be D's Nuts as it was the perfect combination of chocolate and peanut butter like you totally got both flavors and just the right amount of them making for one delicious brew and totally up there with the best of this style brew that I've had at other breweries. My Favorite of the brews had to be the Dumpster Fire as I'm sure it was paying homage to everyone's favorite year 2020 but the flavors were spot on as it was a blueberry ghost pepper milk stout and wow what a yummy brew like it had some spice to it but not too much along with a hint of the blueberry you really couldn't go wrong in any way! Probably my least favorite on the flight had to be That's So Fetch the hard seltzer but I'm not knocking it down as it had an interesting flavor of mango and guava but we more or less found it perfect to clear our pallet for the rest of the flight so all in all it really did play an awesome part of this yummy brew experience. Everything this night was awesome especially our service shout out to our server Cierra for doing an amazing job and being super friendly as well as informative about any of the random questions that we had asked. Overall this is a great brewery with delicious brews and food it made for an awesome yummy night and for just a positive and fun experience all around it's with that I'm sure I will venture here again at some point because it's what was totally good and I'd love to experience it again! While home for the holidays, every one in my family and several of my local friends raved about Inside the Five as the "new" happening spot in downtown Sylvania (oh, how I love the excitement a new establishment brings to Ohioans). Anyways, my boyfriend and I made our way to Inside the Five for lunch and were surprised to see how full it was. We took our seats and waited to be served; our waitress was visibly stressed as it appeared she had a lot of tables and not a lot of help. We weren't in a rush, so the wait didn't bother us. We started with our drinks - I ordered a flight with four of their local pours and my boyfriend ordered a pint of a jalapeño beer they had on tap. I was a little disappointed by the variety of beers they had to offer; most were stouts or IPAs. I am not a huge IPA or stout fan, I prefer sours or something a little lighter on the beer spectrum, but oh well. I didn't love any of the beers I tried. As for the food, we split an order of the pretzels with beer cheese (the best thing we ate there that day), and for our meals I ordered the lunch special which came with a cup of soup and half of a flatbread. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich with coleslaw. Like I said, the pretzels with beer cheese were absolutely delicious and the salt helped to balance the heavy beers we were drinking. As for the soup, it was a broccoli cheese, and it really lacked any flavor at all. I was disappointed in the soup. I also got half of the BBQ chicken flatbread which was tasty but was loaded with way too much cheese (it was like a blanket of cheese on top of the toppings). I get it - cheese is good, but too much cheese looks like you're trying to cover something up (literally and figuratively). Anyways, for Northwest Ohio, this is a nice spot to meet friends and grab a beer - perhaps next time I'm in town, I'll come see if they've gotten any new beers that may improve my opinion of Inside the Five. read more

I am not local to the area and was in town just for one day for an event at the local high school. I looked on the map for a local place to go instead of a chain and found ITF! Based on their menu and great reviews we decided on it for dinner and we are so glad we did! To drink I had the Dino Sour peach sour. This was definitely sour and tasted good but I didn't get even a hint of peach. My friend got the Cherry Bomb which was really unique and delicious. They have a ton of delicious sounding beers I'd love to try if I lived in this area. For my meal I did the chicken & waffles with fries. The chicken was super well cooked and crispy. The cheese on top was a little odd and unusual, they could leave that off and I don't think it would taste any different. The waffles were really good as well, especially combined with the chicken and dipped in the syrup. The fries were another star of the show. I am such a sucker for battered fries and these were some of the best I've had. I would have loved to have had time to try their desserts. Service was great and the food came out incredibly fast considering there wasn't a single open table. If I find myself in the area again I will definitely be back! read more

Four stars is exactly right, but I'll give an extra star to balance out some of the undeserved 1 and 2 star reviews. There's no question about it, at IT5, there's room for improvement...but I'll say this: each time I/we eat there, the food (and beer) seems to get better. So what should you try? How the hell would I know what you should try? You think I'm clairvoyant or some shit? Wu Da Fug? What did I like? Well, that's a different question. I've had each of the burgers (except for the portabella/portobello "burger," 'cuz fungus ain't my thang, bish). The other burgers were excellent...contrary to what you may have read, they didn't taste like they were made with warmed up frozen patties. Also, they didn't taste like the the IT5 chef was "trying too hard to be creative." The chicken and waffles were excellent as well. The waffles were dense and were made with pearl sugar...awesome texture. The chicken breast was BIG and was perfectly battered. I'd skip the cheese the next time I order this one. The porter maple syrup and the mustard were great for dipping. Also the jalapeño poppers and the desserts were a hit, to one degree or another. There's nothing special about the pub chips or the fries. I'd skip 'em and save the carbs for beer. Speaking of beer...this is one area where IT5 is really upping its game. None of the brews that I've tried have induced rapture, or even orgasm, but nothing was gross, either. Solid products, all. IMO, the Belgian Quad is IT5's best offering. It's not the best Belgian I've ever had, but I like it enough to order it as part of every flight. The pumpkin ale is full flavored but not heavy, and is great for this time of year. Unexpectedly, I really liked the cucumber/mint lager! Service: FFA (fast friendly accurate). No issues. Atmosphere: This is a nice place to eat...lots of natural light, and not too noisy. I'd like to see more seats at the bar. I'd also like to see more outdoor seating, but I guess it's Toledo and "winter is coming." 5 (actually 4) stars! read more

This was an amazing find! The entire town was so great! It looked like a scene from a hallmark movie. Everyone was so nice and helpful! This is an adorable brewery with a great selection of beers. We sat at the bar. I ordered a flight. He ordered a single beer. They had the terrific seltzer that I ordered mostly because I loved the name of it "That's so Fetch"!! Hahah. The 90s nostalgia! We decided to start out tagabrew collection back up and we each got a new one. Its been about three years since we collected those. Seems like a good time to start up again.
