New local favorite unlocked! My husband and I had a quick date night at the newly opened Voodoo Brewing Company in Canton, and we're already planning to go back this week! Tonight we shared the BLT with avocado and their skin-on fries (so good!). I had the Tropical Cherry Mule --absolutely delicious--and David tried the Hazy Vibes IPA. Yesterday he and his buddy sampled the Lacto Kooler Sour, loved it so much they bought a six-pack and a shirt before leaving! A huge shoutout to our bartenders, Sarah and Shana, who made us feel right at home. We also had the pleasure of meeting owner Carla, who is incredibly friendly and a fellow dog lover--always a bonus in my book! The artwork throughout the brewery is stunning, hand-painted by two tattoo artists from Old World Tattoo in Imlay City. The detail is incredible and really gives the place its own unique personality. If you're looking for a place that can handle both a great meal and a large group without missing a beat, Voodoo Brewing Company absolutely delivers. We recently hosted a retirement party for my boss here, and from start to finish the experience was outstanding. Wayne and Amy were incredible to work with while planning everything--they helped coordinate the setup, worked with us on catering appetizers, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. They even accommodated us bringing in our own cake, which was a huge plus. They gave us a large dedicated section for our group, and everything ran seamlessly all night. The food and drinks were fantastic across the board--everyone in our party was raving. The pretzel bites with beer cheese were a big hit, and the pulled pork nacho bar for appetizers was next level. People kept going back for more and talking about it all night. But the real standout of the evening was our waitress, Karissa. She was an absolute rockstar. We had a large group with individual tabs for everyone, and she kept everything perfectly organized without missing a beat. Drinks were always full, food came out quickly, and no one was left waiting or confused. Whatever system she was running behind the scenes--it worked flawlessly. HORRIBLE experience! We brought our 2 little boys for a family dinner date and were greeted by a not-so-friendly hostess who said she needed to go clean a table for us. We happily waited while she did so just to be seated at a table that had crusted food on the menus and old ground beef and lettuce on the seat our toddler was going to sit on. So horribly disgusting. We were never served. We sat for 45 minutes as tables around us were waited on. No one came to us - no greeting, no offer for waters/food/ANYTHING! We packed up our hungry toddler and baby and left. This is a new establishment and not too far from home, so we decided to give Voodoo Brewing Company a try. Open room concept with many interesting hand painted murals on the walls. If you are into craft beers, Voodoo Brewing, may be a hit for you as they have a pretty decent selection. We sat at the bar as it was later in the evening and there wasn't many people. We split a flight of beers and didn't order any food. Our flight a beer was over $20 as our flight included an imperial stout. Our go-to establishment for craft beer in downtown Sylvania charges $8 - $11 for a flight and they also usually have stouts as part of their regular lineup. Several TVs available so you can catch your favorite team playing as you enjoy some brews and food. The interior of Voodoo Brewing is definitely unique to say the least, especially the table set having a chair tilted against the table to honor those who served our country, but paid the ultimate price for our freedom. To be fair, we arrived 30 mins prior to closing. The vibes and decor was fun and chill. We didn't order any food. Overall, would I come back? I'm not sure why this place has such low ratings. They have a great food menu, good brews (their cider was delicious), an amazing outdoor area and arcade games. There's something for everyone here! They have sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and salads so a good grill menu. I ordered the Muddy Hen and it was extremely tasty. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the flavored aioli was dynamite. Nice brewery set up in a recently renovated building. Lots of TVs inside to sit back and relax with your favorite beer and food choi cr. Started off with the Saugatuck Blueberry and Lemonade shandy, very tasty and smooth, if not looking for something heavy this is a great choice. The fresh cut fries are thin but great taste but not to salty. We also got the Pulled Pork nachos which had great tasting pork and sour cream with some bbq drizzle as well, it was the best appetizer we had. The pretzel was solid and the hummus and veggies is what you would expect but felt like an afterthought as the hummus didn't have any taste. The wait staff was engaged and attentive. There was only 4 tables besides the 3 of us. 2 tables had 6 people, 2 had 4 people. Only the waitress apologized for the delay but no manager or owner. Honestly, I think some of the 1 star reviews are just people looking to bring this place down and they don't make much sense. Not going to lie, we actually came in because we were curious about all the buzz, haha. The food was excellent, fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The service was just as impressive; our server Remy was attentive, kind, and made sure we felt completely accommodated. And last but definitely not least, the ambiance was spot on. I really like to give a place a few tries before reviewing, but I don't think I'll ever be back to Voodoo Brewing Company in Toledo. First, walk in and there's live music. This place does not have the acoustics for that. It was so loud my friends and I were not able to speak to each other while the music was going. Mind-numbingly loud. Second, the menu or lack thereof. So many food items not available. I understand this happening when first opened, but we were there months after open. It was ridiculous. Same thing happened with the beer. Most of what we ordered the waitress came back and said sorry, we don't have it. Third, the delivery. A few of us got our food quickly. The others had to wait over twenty minutes. And when the beer was brought out, we were supposed to be able to tell the difference between what they brought on sight, which considering we had to reorder and in some cases picked similar styles, that wasn't really feasible. We probably passed some germs sampling everything to figure out what was ours. And finally the food. Nobody seemed impressed, but I was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffles were cornbread waffles and they were terrible. So dry. And they had the tiniest bit of syrup on top, so no help there. They also brought it all out on what looked like some sort of fake wood plank so what little syrup there was just went everywhere. Nobody I know is willing to give it another try, so I don't think I will either. I was so excited for this place to open but so disappointed in the actual visit. read more

The owner is awesome. I showed up prior to opening and the owner welcomed me in anyway. Let me sample a ton of beers and he had a lot of knowledge. I ordered the pickle pizza with marinara for dipping and it did not disappoint it was different but surprisingly delicious. I had a Carmel cookie stout and it was sweet but really drinkable for a stout. It didnt taste strait coffee like most stout. This place is absolute garbage and it is because of the manager Jeremy Pultz. A person in our party complained there were onions on the loaded fries when they aren't on the menu. He simply said they were loaded and called her rude. He was aggressive when he came over and looking for confrontation. Not one to typically leave a poor review but didn't have a great experience today. I ordered an IPA from tap 16. It had a strong coffee flavor possibly from the previous beer on that tap. Brendon the bartender was great and got me another beer. We ordered the Voo-dill pickle pizza. It came out with the crust burnt and rock hard. Told the girl who brought us plates we didn't need them and we didn't want the pizza or a replacement due to burnt crust. She talked us in to letting them make us another pizza. The second pizza came out with most of the crust very dark brown with the exception of 2 slices. The second pizza was very oily too. Tried to eat a slice but it wasn't good. The bartender took away the pizza. I saw manager Lee grab the pizza and look at it. She came over and told us there wasn't anything wrong with the pizza. I told her the crust was overcooked and the pizza was over oiled. I was surprised when I got the bill and the pizza was still on it. The bartender said the manager wanted to charge us for it. This will definitely be my last visit to Voodoo Brewing Toledo. I understand mistakes are made and lessons are being learned with new businesses but I don't feel like I should have had to pay for a bad dish. When a business can't comp a $15 bad dish there are other underlying issues imo. read more

As we were waiting for a waitress to notice us after being seated, I decided to read the reviews. Big mistake. Just as everyone else was saying we were waiting forever for everything. Menus, our drinks, our food. Also, as other reviewers said, the waitresses were running around like it was busy. But the restaurant was only about a third full. My husband gave the Bloody Mary a 2 out of 10. As you can see by the description on the menu, it was not really what we were expecting when it arrived. They did take it off of the bill. The not Philly steak sandwich was just OK. The house made chip were just OK. Nothing tasted bad but nothing stood out either. For a microbrewery that wants to make it, they need to do better. read more

Our server Edith was amazing--very friendly and personable and she recommended some good dishes. The sweet heat pizza was delicious and the fried green tomatoes were tasty too. The smash burger was also delicious. However, I'd steer clear of is the Brussels sprouts Caesar salad. For $15 you should get more than a handful of sprouts. The salad came out looking tiny in the big serving bowl. It was full of tough roots that hadn't been trimmed off. The other thing to watch out for, is the price for certain mixed drinks. I ordered a Stoli and soda--standard drink. When the check came, they charged $15 for each one because it was Stoli Elit 18. So before you order a standard vodka and soda, make sure you aren't being given a pricier version that you didn't ask for. read more

Was greeted by the owner. Very nice and explained the specials, etc. Downhill from there. Service was horrible and very slow. Turned out our server was also tending bar. However, we arrived at 1:30, so the restaurant was not crowded enough for her to be inattentive. Their radio commercial boasts "the best coconut shrimp in the city". The shrimp were large, but tasteless. My friend asked for chardonnay. The server said "I don't think we have that". My answer was "it's a very common wine, I'm sure you have it". Her answer was "we're a brewery, not a winery". Looking at her tablet, she realized chardonnay was a white wine and she was looking at the red menu. This girl was tending bar?! I had the coconut shrimp app and 2 seasonal martinis and my bill was $44+. Little pricey in my opinion. I hope the service and food gets better. read more

Right when we walked in we where greeted with a friendly smile and we were seated out our table. Our server MacKenzi introduced herself and gave us waters and drink menus. Great beer selections and others drinks, after we made our selection and received our drinks we ordered food that was well described by our server, she was very knolodgble and we both had the chicki chicki bang bang "a tiki masala inspired marinated and cooked chicken breast" sandwich it was tender and flavorful. We definitely recommend this place, service was top notch and prompt, food was hot and flavorful, timing was great. Thought that we would check out the place with another couple on a Saturday Eve. Greeter was nice and short wait for table. That was about it for the good.... Now, the bad. Super loud. Short staffed, really long wait for food (not that busy) Ordered sautéed artichokes. May have been 8 total with a bunch of crunchy bits of something, swimming in sauce. Once we did get our food it was terrible and way over priced. I ordered the bbq pork nachos as a meal and what few, tiny pieces of meat were dry and had the consistency of shoe leather. It was so forgettable, I don't even remember what my wife ordered, but she said it was not very good. I suppose it's a great place for micro brews and yelling at each other to be heard but that won't happen again as we all decided to never return. read more

I went in after the Toledo air show this month for Mother's Day and the service was great. The front end manager was a real sweetheart.Came over and chatted with us for a while. The chef delivered our appetizer to us personally. A very nice gentleman. We were fortunate enough to be there. When the owner was there and he made the rounds came over and talked with us for a bit wonderful guy. You wouldn't think that he's a business owner by being uppity, just a normal down to earth guy. I'll definitely go back again sometime when i'm in town. Keep in mind that this is a new restaurant to the area and everyone's just trying to get there footing here and and to get things rolling smoothly. So give them a break and give them a try. If you're not super impressed, the first time, give it a little bit and go back again. And I guarantee you'll like it better the next time. By the way, I got caught up talking about the staff. I forgot to mention that our food was really good, we had beer, battered mushrooms and burgers and they were quite yummy. read more

Absolutely horrible, nothing good about this place. The owner was very rude and upset that we sent back the deep friend olive balls because they were way to salty. 3 out of 9 people ordered pizza, after waiting over an hour for our pizza when everyone else got there food and ate the waitress told us the owner ran out to go get cheese for the pizzas because they ran out. Staff were running around like crazy acting like they were lost, not knowing what they were doing. Restaurant is not organized at all. Just noticed this place while driving by. What a pleasant surprise. This brewery offers their own beers plus guest breweries for a total of 30 beers and a couple of ciders. Great beer selection. Service was GREAT at the bar. Food was surprisingly good for bar food. Wings were crispy and tender with a good range of sauces. The turkey BLT with avocado was very good. My husband loves chips and loved the pub chips. Although we didn't order them the fried green tomatoes looked amazing and the people next to us said they were the best they had ever had The only negative was that many of the beers were served in a 13 ox glass instead of a pint, making them a little more expensive than usual. read more

My underage daughter ordered a mocktail & said it tasted like it had alcohol in it. I tasted it & thought it was just all sour. It was awful. She did not drink it. When we received the bill we were charged for a COCKTAIL. My husband told them we ordered a mocktail. They took $2 off of the drink. It was still $9 - more than our beers. Our server was attentive, but the kitchen was slow.. I ordered the Bleu cheese burger. They asked how I would like it cooked. I told them medium rare. It came out well done. I don't know why they asked, the burger was so thin there is no way they could cook it to order. My upcharge for tots was not worth the 8 tater tots I received. Pizza came without chicken. They corrected it quickly, but chicken was way over cooked. The beer selection was decent, but I was surprised they did not brew their own, as it is called a Brewing Company.
