If you're downtown, it's late, you're hungry, and don't feel like eating bar ordinary food, M'Osteria and Bar is for you. They serve their full menu until 10pm (!) with even later hours on the weekend. Of course, the pizza is great. It's owned by the "Marco's Pizza Family." As you may have guessed, this is an Italian restaurant. Although this is NOT the best Italian fare in town, it is very good. I will also say that it's a bit expensive for what you get. The service last night, from Liz, was fantastic. The atmosphere is just what you'd expect from in this part of town...exposed brick, comfy seats, high ceilings, etc. It's clean and modern, if not a little cliche. Still, it's very comfortable. Not only does he have the fastest growing pizza chain in the world, but (Italian immigrant) Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco also has a great spot in the heart of downtown Toledo. We'll be back. read more

Dinner selection was between my favorite pizzeria or adventuring into something new. I chose something new but kind of regretted it. Honestly, I would have rather waited the 15 minutes the waitress said it would take for fresh pizza than been given something that seemed like it had been sitting around for a while and was just "called" a Margherita because it looked similar. I expected a Margherita pizza with sliced tomatoes and plenty of basil, but what I got was more like a plain cheese pizza with just two chopped pieces of basil on top. The slices were folded in the container and looked smaller than they actually were. The staff didn't seem very enthusiastic when I came in to pick up my order, so I didn't feel welcomed as a new patron. The restaurant has a casual, seat-yourself bar-style vibe, which is fine if that's your style, but it didn't add much to the overall experience for me. The Pizza Passport is a great opportunity for pizza lovers to explore new restaurants or pizzerias in town. For me, I'm used to sticking with my usual spot, so it was nice to try something different and broaden my horizons, but I'm unsure if I will be returning. We came here for to close out the night and have dinner. The inside is very inviting and has a great ambiance for date night. The bar area is nice and even has a few TVs. We ordered two pasta dishes and were absolutely wowed by the flavor with both of them. The sauce was a fantastic and spicy, but we know that when we ordered. We asked our server to tell the chef that everything was absolutely delicious. We were trying to get the recipe, but they wouldn't divulge too much. Always a good experience. A cozy intimate spot although it's a huge venue. Thoughtful specials that are tasty and not too filling. I am a huge fan of M'Osteria. I usually come Thursday after work to take advantage of their happy hour. They have a good wine and local beer selection, plus their pizza, which is all half off during happy hour. Their pizza is "hand tossed" and reminds me of a New York style pizza - it's REALLY good. They also have fresh pasta and bread. They are one of the few places in Toledo that I have found that does handmade pasta. The servers are all friendly, they're in a great location, and the space is really nice. It's casual but bright and modern. They're underrated - they're one of my favorite Italian restaurants! read more

Every time I go back to this place, it just continues to disappoint. Started with my beloved Martini. I requested it to be chilled (stirred, not shaken) and very, very dry. It was chilled, but it was made with a large amount of vermouth. My niece (former bartender) summized that the person making drinks assumed that dry vermouth is what's typically used for a Martini, so the more the better... Genius (in this case jeenious). It's in the name, right? The bartender needs to go back to the dish room. I ordered chicken piccata for my entrée. They can't screw it up twice, right? Jeez, it was a tasteless, watery, gummy mess. The chicken itself was almost OK, but it wasn't browned at all. It was nicely pounded and floured, but not seasoned or browned. No flavor. The real issues were the piccata sauce and pasta. The sauce had no lemon flavor, but there were capers. I think the person cooking added a ladle of pasta water to the pan, because that's what you do when you make Italian food, right? You add water from the pasta pot to the other pan. They do that on all the cooking shows... Cool concept, wrong application. The sauce looked like brown dishwater with green things floating in it. I was given my choice of angel hair or fettuccine pasta. I chose fettuccine. What I was given was a little of each. Angel hair cooks in a few minutes. Fettuccine takes 10 minutes. The combination was a bunch of gummy angel hair mixed with undercooked fettuccine. Combine that with brown water and green floaters, well, DISGUSTING. Oh, my meal came out 5 minutes after everyone else's. We had 5 people at our table and they screwed that up. Our server, Cheyenne, was very nice. Our salads were fine and I still think they have the best cup of coffee in town. I was only charged for half of my meal since I did eat a piece of the chicken. That said, I probably won't be back. This place is too expensive for the shameful food and awful drinks they serve. On top of that, their customers pay for parking. The least Pat could do is work out a deal with the lot owner and pay for his customer's parking. Oh, maybe he could teach his bartender how to mix drinks. Oh, he could show his cook how to cook! That would be a nice touch too. The best meal I had last night was the mortadella sandwich and a bottle of PBR I made for myself at home. read more

Restaurant is beautiful, clean, and lively. The tables are a bit close, but it creates a nice chatter throughout the room. The others who ate with me got the pizza and said it was great! Came out hot and the cheese was amazing. I got the chicken parmesan, which was alright, nothing special. The pasta that came with it was lukewarm to cold, which was disappointing. Our server was also sadly very inattentive, and only visited our table maybe 4 times. Overall, the food was good and I would eat there again. I wish the service was better though. read more

Arriving a little after 5, we assumed it would be no problem getting a table for two, seeing the restaurant was mostly empty. Oddly, the gentleman at the front of the house let us know the entire restaurant was booked up for the evening with reservations, and our only option was to sit at the bar, which we gladly accepted. A friendly bartender took great care of us as we placed our orders and waited for the restaurant to fill up. This was certainly not our first visit, and having reasonably good meals in the past, our hopes were dashed when our food arrived. While "comfort food" might be an appropriate description, everything felt lazy. The food lacked any sort of voice or perspective. Textures and flavors were completely one-note, and our entrees were devoid of any freshness. Yes, the pasta was technically fresh, but also completely overcooked. My Pork Sugo (cheek meat) might have as well been labeled as a stew or soup. Boring and mushy, and a surprising offering on a Friday night when one would assume their A-game is on. Nothing we ordered was terrible, but for the price, nothing was anywhere near what we hoped for, or expected. And as we left the completely empty restaurant an hour and a half later, we wondered why we couldn't have at least been underwhelmed while sitting at a table instead of hunched over the bar. Downtown Toledo needs classy joints to mix it up with the sports bars, and I suspect M'Osteria will remain a hot spot as long as it's owned and run by a very wealthy individual. But our recent visit was an expensive (for Toledo) complete disappointment. read more

Let this be a warning to those thinking of dining at M Osteria Bar & Lounge. I don't take writing bad reviews for restaurant experiences lightly. It is something I almost never do. But after taking a day to collect my thoughts and reflect upon my experience at M Osteria Bar & Lounge Toledo on October 1, 2022, I felt compelled to leave this review. My experience at this restaurant was beyond disappointing-it was insulting. In fact, it is safe to say that it is the absolute worst experience that I have ever had at a restaurant. Period. My aunt, cousin, and friends drove hours from out of town to visit and spend the night with me in Toledo. We decided to go to an early dinner; I suggested we go to M Osteria. I tried to call and make a reservation earlier in the day, but nobody answered the phone when I called. When I checked the website, it said that "Walk-ins are welcome anytime." See below. So we decided to walk in when the restaurant opened. From the very moment our group of 6 adults (late 20s through 40s) walked into the restaurant at around 4:30pm, we were immediately treated with disrespect by an employee named Susie. She spoke to us in a demeaning and rude tone and made it very clear that she was annoyed with us even being present in the restaurant. She sternly asked us if we had a reservation to which we replied that we did not. This angered Susie. She begrudgingly gave us an ultimatum: she barked that we had to "be in and out if we wanted to be seated" and she would only seat our group if we left by 6:15pm because her first reservation was at 6:30pm- two and a half hours later. We were confused and, frankly, the whole exchange was bizarre. There was nobody else in the restaurant. Susie was telling us we only had nearly 2.5 hours to eat, which was obviously more than enough time to eat an early dinner, and yet she was, for some reason, angry about seating us before her first reservation at 6:30pm? On top of this not making any sense, the tone Susie took when she told us we would have to leave at 6:15pm, was sharp and disrespectful. Mistakenly, though, we agreed. Clearly annoyed, Susie marched us to our table. When we got there, Susie threw our menus down and said she would be back to take our order. It could not have been more than a minute before she returned and demanded our orders. We were all shocked as we barely had any time to even look at our menus. It was obvious Susie was trying to rush us through our meal and she was not even trying to hide it. Not even a little bit. She hastily took our orders and departed the table. As though Susie's degrading and demeaning attitude was not bad enough, the food quality failed to make up for her complete lack of hospitality. When Susie delivered my friend's appetizer to the table, it was ice cold. When Susie came to drop off the rest of our food, she dropped the plates onto our table in absolute silence and hurriedly turned around and walked away. In all seriousness, she did not say one word. As she darted away from our table (apparently, as fast as she could) I was forced to virtually yell to ask her if she "could please bring me some crushed red pepper." With her back facing me, as she continued to walk away, we all heard Susie respond with a sarcastic "Yes, of course." The food I ordered, Cavatelli, was awful: bland, small portion, obviously microwaved, overpriced and cold. But even though our food was horrible, (which was arguably not Susie's fault) we were genuinely afraid to say anything to her about our dissatisfaction because of how poorly she was treating us. Her tone was hostile with us throughout the entire meal. It was as though we had done something wrong just by being there, but we did not know what. My friend even overheard Susie speaking to another group of three women that walked into the restaurant in a similar, demeaning way. However what might have been the absolute worst and most degrading part about Susie's unprofessional and disrespectful conduct was that, throughout the entire meal, she continued to refer to our group as "kids." As I said, we were adults in our late of 20s, 30s and 40s, not children. To think that I brought my friends and family to this restaurant, who drove hours to come and visit me from out of town, including my physically disabled Aunt who is a cancer patient undergoing chemo therapy, I was absolutely mortified, shocked and embarrassed at the way Susie was treating us. Susie acted noticeably irritated and tried to rush us through the entire meal. The majority of our conversation was spent talking about how rude she was being to us. It was both strange and upsetting. We considered talking to the manager several times during the meal but, at least I, was so shocked as to how I was being treated, I did not think I would be able to articulate the extent of the issues even if I did speak to the manager. read more

The tortellini was very good. I loved the sauce it was in and glad I got the garlic bread knots so I could dip it in the sauce! (Garlic bread knots on their own would have been just so-so). The meatballs were pretty tasty. Their charcuterie board was shameful. For the price, there was not much. The two cheeses were both a variant of blue- and I would have liked a variety. The food is good but way overpriced. It's over $22 for a small bowl of pasta and no bread or salad. For that price they should offer you at least complimentary bread. The staff is great and it's nice they are open for late night dining. I would recomend getting their pizza if you go there. read more

Pretentious pricing, very poor quality, extremely small portions. Top that off with majorly rude and inattentive service, and you will have this establishment. Walking in, you get a very false sense of a great dining experience. It does look nice. The tortellini was like little rubber blobs with no flavor. The sauce was purely visual. The salmon was super small for the price, but I thought, hey, maybe it will be delicious to make it make sense. Nope. It was tough and overly fishy tasting. A very strong smell. Not good. Our food experience was quite disappointing. All of our entrees were bland, and not the quality of food one would expect for the price point. Appetizers: We started the meal with the garlic knots- the bread reminded us of pillsbury canned rolls, and they were quite flavorless. We each had a salad- the lettuce was all romaine and it was nice and fresh! Entrees: two of us got the pasta pomodoro, and were pretty disappointed. The noodles and sauce were simply okay. The chicken was bland and unimpressive. The other two got paninis, and both were decently disappointed. One got the chicken parm panini, and it was basically nothing more than a flavorless, deep fried chicken patty and with a MAYBE inch square piece of cheese on it. All members of our party left feeling disappointed in he food. The service was good, but the food is just not worth the price. I've had more flavorful food at Olive Garden. Most Horrific Takeout Experience of Year. Paid almost $30 for 6 oz Salmon dish with only 6 pieces of pasta and absolutely no vegetables? Undercooked pasta at that. Impression I got from M'Osteria staff was I'm somehow at fault for complaining about poor quality of my meal. Idea is your culinary pictures on your official website should match true reality of actual dining experience. Additionally, I had to wait an additional 25-30 minutes after arrival because they forgot to cook my takeout order. Didn't ask for refund, only if I could simply relay my experience to owner for better training. Staff refused to identify owner's name, offer mgr callback, or even acknowledge my complaint. Instead bartender hung up on me after 5 mins ... was really was looking forward to this Toledo restaurant (based on Yelp! Reviews) but please avoid at all costs. Sad! read more

A first-time customer last night before the James Taylor-Bonnie Raitt concert and it won't be our last visit to this quaint, friendly Italian place that is trendy and tucked away in Downtown Toledo. We shared server-recommended Tortellini and a thin-crust Margherita Pizza. We felt like we hit the jackpot! Thank you, Ashley, for your recommendations, friendly and welcoming manner. We appreciated your personality, your knowledge about the menu and the speed in which we were served on a very busy evening. The home-made pasta that featured melt-in-your-mouth beef chunks was AMAZING. Ashley delivered extra bread because she thought I might want to sop the sauce. She was right on target with that idea. I woke up today wanting more of that tortellini for lunch!! The fresh tomato sauce on the pizza was excellent. Thin crust is our favorite and the home-made crust was very good. Quite honestly, we were planning to dine across the street but at the very last second decided to cross the street because our love for Italian cravings had won out. We are so happy we made that choice! In fact, we chuckled as we watched many people arriving at M' Osteria hoping to find a table but then having to walk out and settle for the place across the street or elsewhere. Four of us dined a M'Osteria celebrating my wife's birthday. Our appetizers were good. Our dinners weren't even OK. I was disappointed in the carbonara. The pancetta was so crisp and hard, I think they deepfried it. I always order meat balls, and a side of sausage and peppers to go with my pasta.  My wifes bolognese was very bland. My daughters pomodoro was so watery, she had to ask for marinara to thicken it.  No bread offer the meal, and the food was bland. I didn't know if you changed chefs as this wasn't out experience in our past visits. I noticed the pomodoro sauce was watery thin like tomato juice.  Our server did not know much about the menu, so she had to continually go back and ask. When you are out with friends, the last thing you want is someone hovering around your table to get your order. We got there at six and it wasn't busy so the rushing made no sense. I am not sure if the kitchen has a new chef or turnover but this shouldn't matter. I did have some good meals here in the past so this was sad to have this experience. read more

We chose M'Osteria because of the varied menu options, the decor, and the location - it being just around the corner from our hotel. It had the appearance of being one of the more up-scale restaurants in the area. I had the Pork Sugo with a Caesar salad and my buddy had pepperoni pizza. Both the Pork Sugo and the pizza were delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and the pork melted in your mouth. The Ceasar salad was uninspiring - lettuce, croutons, and some cheese. I was expecting perhaps interesting take on it. While the food and the decor / atmosphere was really good, the service was just ho-hum. Our server's questions were basic upon greeting us at the table, "Anything to drink before?" and "Are you guys ready or do you need more time?" Nothing about the service ingratiated the establishment or the uniqueness of the place. Both the menu and the decor lend itself to something unique and memorable, but the staff should be better trained to provide matching service. It won't be long until another restaurant comes along with a similarly priced / quality menu that will deliver on service. It's a growing city with options. Don't loose your customers by something so simple as great service. It costs nothing to provide. read more

This was our first visit to this establishment. It was opening day for the Toledo Mud Hens so the place was incredibly noisy to say the least and packed both inside and outside on the enclosed patio. There was live music playing which was pretty good. The menu was small and choices were limited on this day but the food was good. If you like fried pickles, you gotta start off with an order of the fried cheese pickles. DELICIOUS!! We arrived at just the right time and managed to get a table before the place filled up. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We'd like to try this place again when there isn't so many people and a full menu to order from. read more

Working downtown, a friend and I met at M Osteria Bar & Lounge for lunch. Arriving at 12:15, they were moderately busy with the lunch rush, so it took a few minutes before we were seated. We had enough time to look over the menu and select an appetizer before our waitress approached, so we ordered garlic knots as well as our drinks (an iced tea for me, a black coffee for my friend). It took some time for our waitress to return with our drinks, but perhaps she had spent extra time hand-crafting a cappuccino, as that is what she gave my friend, rather than a black coffee (he said he was pretty happy as he had wanted a cappuccino, but felt they were way too expensive). We then placed our food orders, with me getting the porchetta sandwich. This made my total bill with tax $19.85, which was definitely on the pricey end for lunch downtown. The décor was absolutely fantastic, with the ultra-modern restaurant accents contrasting beautifully with the historic red brick walls of the restaurant's industrial past. The two combined together to give the establishment a vibrant atmosphere, which I imagine is especially hip with the upscale evening crowd there for dinner and the lounge. That said, it was a good thing that there were plenty of fine accoutrements to take in, as it took a surprisingly long time for first our appetizer to arrive, and then even longer for our main entrees. When the garlic knots arrived, they were ... ok. Based on other reviews mentioning this appetizer, we had high hopes, but found them to be not garlicy at all, and so crispy as to be nearly overdone. Yet making up for that disappointment was my porchetta sandwich, which, once it finally arrived, was very nearly magical with its deliciousness! Easily the finest porchetta I have ever had, each bite melted in my mouth like a morsel from heaven. While the accompanying spiced fries were good in and of themselves, they paled in comparison to the wonder that was the porchetta. Likewise getting refills for our drinks was slow, and my friend's black coffee-turned-cappuccino changed back into a black coffee with his refill. While I absolutely loved the porchetta and really liked the restaurant's atmosphere, it could not completely make up for the disappointing appetizer, inconsistent drinks, and overall slow service. As such, I rate M Osteria Bar & Lounge as Good and would return. read more

My co-worker and I were the first arrivals for lunch on a Wednesday, soon followed by a party of five and a party of three. We placed an order for an appetizer of garlic knots when our server brought our drinks, and we proceeded to peruse the menu. They have a good selection of burgers and paninis for lunch, along with salads and soups and pricier entrees. The five-top got their lunch order taken before we did, but our server came out with our garlic knots shortly thereafter and took our orders then. The garlic knots were superb -- warm and fluffy on the inside, just a little crusty on the outside. I ended up ordering the porchetta (pronounced with a hard c, not a ch, in case you've forgotten your Italian pronunciation rules -- and pause on that double-t for a moment), and my co-worker ordered the chicken parmigiana. The pork belly was fatty (as it should be) and delicious, with a subtle aioli that added a great flavor. My co-worker's sandwich, she said, had fantastic cheese, but the roasted red pepper slice was too overpowering for her. The fries that come with were seasoned with oregano, which I thought was fantastic, but my dining partner thought was a little odd. We did witness the five-top next to us having a minor snafu with their orders: two out of the five were incorrect or missing and had to be remade. They got theirs just as my co-worker and I were finishing up. It wasn't my problem, so I don't know if they got comped anything for their wait. I have every intention of taking another of my co-workers here in a couple of weeks. So far, M Osteria has earned a place on my short list of places to eat lunch downtown! read more
