I admit that I'm one of 'those people' that frequently references Yelp to find out where to go for a particular service, without ever personally contributing a review... until now. It was because of Yelp that I found this expert tailor (see reviews connected to his previous business location listed at http://www.yelp.com/biz/maurice-tailors-buffalo-2), and I am so impressed and enthralled with Maurice and his work that I'm signing up with Yelp today in order to share my experience and post this raving and well-deserved review. Maurice greets every customer with enthusiasm and a smile that reveals how genuinely good-natured, big-hearted, and accommodating he is. His honesty, warmth, and friendliness could win anyone over, but his efficiency and the quality of his work will keep me coming back as a lifelong customer. My body type is not an easy one to fit; I'm very petite in every dimension and clothes almost NEVER fit me right off the rack. I must dress professionally for my job, and kids' clothes just don't cut it. I brought 5 dresses and a business suit to Maurice, all in need of fairly extensive alterations. These garments, coming from a top-notch British clothing line known for their exquisite tailoring and detail, did not have typical, run-of-the-mill, straight seams; I knew the alterations would require a creative tailor with skilled hands. Having used Maurice once before for some minor alterations, I went to him. He listened and accommodated every one of my requests, offering honest suggestions when asked. One dress needed only a hem, but the others needed to be taken in at the shoulders/straps, sides and bust seams, and at the hems. To make the suit fit, he shortened the sleeves at the shoulder seams, took in the body of the jacket and the seat (mid-seam) of the pants, and narrowed the hips/thighs. I asked Maurice if he could have the suit done in a week, but there was no rush on the dresses. I dropped my clothes off on a Monday; he called me that Saturday, only FIVE DAYS later, to tell me that he had finished EVERYthing. Maurice greeted me eagerly when I came to pick up my clothes, and I could tell he was proud and satisfied with his own work. Considering the changes he made to these pieces, they might as well have been custom-made from scratch by him. The quality of his work is outstanding and the clothes hang perfectly on me. What a difference it makes to have clothes that fit! I feel transformed, classy, and attractive - all thanks to Maurice. Maurice is an old world tailor who truly cares for his craft and making his customers happy. He takes time with you to explain how he will do the work, and even offers his opinions on what work can be done. His prices are reasonable. I don't agree with some of the people on here who say otherwise. He'll definitely do what he can to cut you a deal if you need a lot done, and tries to point out when there may be a simpler and less expensive way to do a job. Keep in mind good work deserves good money! And man, does Maurice deliver on quality and speed. If he knows you need something done fast, he'll do his best to accommodate you and have it done right. I've lost a bunch of weight, so I've been bringing him dresses, and leaving with beautiful garments tailored to every curve of my body. I'm still very curvy, and I encountered a problem recently that Maurice was able to solve. I discovered that for my bras, I needed to wear a larger cup and smaller band size for ideal fit. I was stuck in a predicament that they simply don't make that small of a size band for a larger cup size bra. Since Maurice had done other great work for me, and in hopes of a better bra, I decided to see if he would tailor one for me. I brought a bra to Maurice that was the right cup size, but one band size too large. I could tell he had never been asked to tailor a bra the way I was requesting of him. We had to discuss at length how it could be modified. The result is the most comfortable bra I have ever worn in my life. I about cried tears of joy when I tried it on in his shop for the first time. Maurice has made a loyal customer out of me with considerate and consistent service. I'm looking forward to getting back the bridesmaid dress I recently left with him. I am not normally a person to write reviews however my experience at this place more than warrants one. I recently had a bridesmaid dress altered here, I stupidly waited too long to send back my dress for a larger size (probably two sizes too small by the time the wedding was approaching) and there was not enough time to order a replacement. I was freaking out because it needed to somehow be let out, hemmed and ready in 2 weeks. After reading all of the reviews for this place and how great he was, I decided to give him a try, being that this would be no easy job. I went in and in less than 15 minutes he had determined how much to let it out and how it could be done, the length to hem and put me at ease that he would figure out a way. I have to admit, I did leave a little apprehensive but crossed my fingers. I picked up my dress last night and it was absolutely perfect! It gets better, my friend arrived with her wedding dress (she's from out of town) and came to find they had not bustled it correctly. Her wedding is less than a week away and I called Maurice's by the chance they could possibly fit her in and help her out. He made special arrangements to accommodate her and fix her dress... I had two pairs of dress pants tailored and a broken zipper repaired this week by Maurice and I am very happy with the work. Maurice is professional and good at what he does while having a laugh with the customer all the while. He is pleasant and fair with his pricing, and to be honest I was going to have a blazer shortened as well but Maurice actually advised me that it may cost more than the price of the jacket. Being that It was a jacket I had picked up for about $30.00, I was extremely glad he told me of this instead of trying to rip me off. That shows true honesty from a wonderful customer oriented expert. I tried on the clothes upon returning home from his shop and I was completely satisfied and happy with the work. I actually live closer to several other tailors and will take the 20 minute drive to Niagara Falls Boulevard for future tailoring. Maurice Tailoring is absoulty the tailor to go to. My first experience there sent me to him through a google search as I was in full panic about my wedding dress that was tailored twice from another seamstress. The gown needed to be altered as it was not done properly in the first place(after 2 times). I frantically drove to Maurices place and arrived as it was close to closing time. Maurice took me right away and saw my panic. He reasssured me the gown could be fixed in the proper manner. Well next morning he called that dress was complete. I picked it up and it was perfect!!! Maurice is not only a wonderful talior but what a wonderful person. He truly has gifted skills and his over 30 years of tailoring shines through. Thrilled I found a tailor to do all of our alternations from now on. I am very picky and Maurice exceeds my expectations! Excellent workmanship, knowledge & friendly people to deal with! I was in desperate need of a suit for my Daughters upcoming wedding and came in with little knowledge of buying suits & formal wear. They gave me courteous, expert advice and took my measurements allowing me to buy the proper sized suit, pants & dress shirt. When I returned Rema made the necessary adjustments and promptly made the alterations with-in 4 business days. The result; I have an excellent off the rack suit that looks like I paid hundreds of dollars for. Of note is the tailoring of the shirt. I am 5' 8", 180 lbs with a 20 inch neck. Which basically means I have to buy a shirt meant for a man quite a bit taller, larger and heavier thus the shirt required massive alterations. Basically Rema took a poncho and turned it into a dress shirt! I will be for ever grateful that I will be walking my Daughter down the isle looking my best! read more

I had a wonderful experience for my first time using Maurice Tailors. I had recently ordered a suit online, and I didn't receive it until a week from when I planned on wearing it. Being crunched on time I already assumed I would have to wear something different, so I brought my new suit into Rema to get the alterations done anyway. Not only is Rema super nice and professional, she is extremely efficient. After getting measured, and enjoying our friendly conversation, I left my suit in her hands expecting it to take at least a week or more to be completed. I was blown away when I had received a phone call two days later that my suit was ready to be picked up. When I got to the store I tried on the suit and everything fit perfectly, a masterpiece by Rema. After being referred to Maurice about a year ago, I have found my tailor and couldn't imagine working with anyone else. His work is excellent and rather than just altering to my wishes, Maurice will make suggestions that are the most fashionable and suitable to my specific build. I've particularly been pleased with Maurice's ability to salvage some of my older Suit Jackets and Blazers. I have some great items that I've been able to bring back after Maurice has made alterations and countoured these peices for a more modern and fitted look. I just moved to the Northtowns so I needed a new tailor. I went to Maurice's after a recommendation from a coworker in my husbands office. Maurice is so friendly and so accommodating. I have some special needs and Maurice tailored my dresses to perfection. We also had a few family emergencies which required a pair of pants to be altered quickly ( Maurice had them done in one day) and a wedding veil needed to be pressed and that was done in a few hours and it looked beautiful! Today I dropped off my gown that needed a few alterations, again to conform to my body that has special considerations, I was pretty worried about it. They are quick and do great work. I am in a wedding this weekend, and I got my dress a lot later than expected and it was a lot BIGGER than expected - about two sizes too big. I went in there in a bit of a panic, but Maurice is so sweet and helpful and he assured me it would be just fine. It was a lot of work to take it in and hem it, but he said it would be ready a week from then (Saturday). It was actually ready a few days earlier, which was nice, and the final cost was a little cheaper than what I was expecting to spend. And he takes credit cards! A lot of tailors and dry cleaners don't here in WNY, so that was a big plus for me. In short, he is great to work with, does good work, is convenient, and not over priced by any means. Rema is a life saver. I don't often need items tailored but I had to last minute switch the bridesmaid dress I was wearing for a wedding and it desperately needed some adjustments. After being turned down by two other businesses, I was directed to Rema (after hearing great things) and she graciously accepted my tight timeline. I only had about two weeks until the wedding and she finished my dress in one week! She'd sewn in cups to fill it out, added some darts to pull it together, and tied the straps so that it was easy to put on by myself. It looked beautiful and I couldn't believe how affordable it was, especially considering what the other bridesmaids spent on their alterations. I will always use Maurice Tailors for all future services. They are phenomenal. I ordered a custom-fit long gown online as a mother-of-the-bride dress. It literally came in 2-3 sizes too big for me. I was in a panic since the wedding was less than a month away. Many people recommended Rema (owner of Maurice Tailors). She was phenomenal. The gown had to be taken in 2" on each side, and raised 2" at the top of the shoulders. You would never know it had been altered. The workmanship was perfect and it was done quickly. Rema is a wonderful, compassionate, kind person who put me at ease and promised she would make it look right. hey were also reasonably priced. I HIGHLY recommend her shop. I googled "best tailor in Buffalo" and Maurice Tailors was the first to come up, so I figured I'd give him a shot. Glad I did! I had a pair of pretty expensive jeans that I wanted tapered and hemmed and he did a great job. He was really friendly and clearly knows what he's doing. I had a dress that I was considering having hemmed and when I tried it on, he told me that it was the perfect length and shouldn't be altered. He was right, and I appreciate that kind of honesty. His new location is on Niagara Falls Blvd., in the little plaza that also has a bridal shop and Koreana restaurant. I cannot praise this place enough. I brought in a floor length ball gown after being refused by two other tailors. the woman I worked with not only altered my dress but she finished it over night!!! I was prepared to pay extra because I gave her basically no time to do the alterations and she was nothing but nice to me even though i'm sure I was an inconvenience. the work was well done and fast and even the expedited work didn't cost more than I expected. She also gave me a few recommendations for dress stores in the local area because I frequently attend black tie events. Maurice is the man. I went to Maurice after I found him on yelp, and he is just as good as the reviews say he is. He is the friendliest tailor I have ever encountered, and his prices are affordable for a college student like me. The turn around for how fast you get your clothes back is unmatched, as well as his customer service. I dare anybody to find someone nicer than Maurice. He has moved to the new location on 1008 Niagara Falls Blvd, Tonawanda. Which in my opinion has way better parking and a beautiful view. Maurice is the man, he has a great personality and knows what he is doing. When I picture myself getting my measurements done Maurice is exactly who I picture doing it. I have brought a few button downs in where he has given me the "darts" which essentially slims the shirt down around the abdomens so it make the shirt more custom to my body. I have also brought in one my suit where he made the pants more slim on the leg as well as the waste and the slims the jack around the abdomens. I know that I will be an ongoing customer of Maurice. Maurice is hands down the best tailor in town. I have been working with him for almost 4 years now. Before finding him I used other tailors who's work just didn't hold up. His attention to detail and craftsmanship is what sets him apart. He is very affordable and his turn around time is quick. Rema is absolutely amazing. First, I bought an outfit last minute & loved it but didn't think I could wear it bc the pants were way too long, even with my 4 inch heels. Thankfully the russian woman who handles the fitting room at TJ Maxx directed me to Rema. She took up the pants in an hour & I was able to wear the outfit that evening & received a ton of compliments. I was so happy I found her, she is amazing & I'm getting married next July & she will be doing my wedding dress alterations.
