This is a very unique restaurant on the water in Whitestone with a beautiful view. There is seasonal outdoor seating just outside the restaurant and down a dock. First, I highly recommend reservations, especially for peak times. The restaurant was packed on a Friday evening around 7pm and thankfully, the host squeezed us in but it took some time for her to figure out if she could even accommodate us. For a beautiful atmosphere, celebration or special occasion, this restaurant is a great choice. If you're only going for the food, I don't think it's worth it. Italian food is delicious but I believe there are better restaurants elsewhere. However, the food will satisfy you and you won't leave hungry. The portions are enormous so you're definitely getting value. We were disappointed in the truffle fries, which were soggy and I think breaded, which is unusual. The Caesar salad was delicious, as was the pizza. Otherwise, the food was average. Again, if you're celebrating something special, I think this restaurant would be great. Maurizio's is a cozy Italian neighborhood spot with great views and great pizza. Went here on a Friday night and it was busy! They served bread and olive oil for the table. We got a drunken Margherita pizza to share which was the best dish of the evening. The combination of the vodka sauce, mozzarella and basil were delicious. The crust was soft, but the base of the pizza was just crisp enough so it wasn't a floppy slice. Highly recommend. I got a tagliatelle fungi which had mushrooms, garlic and shallots in a cream sauce with truffle oil. It was a large portion which was nice. Overall, the pasta was ok-good. There was a lot of oil on top of the pasta (not sure if it was the truffle or olive oil), but it stuck well to the pasta to the point that the pasta wasn't really absorbing the cream sauce since it was oil slicked. We got a creme brulee for dessert, and it was yummy! Get a window seat for the views, get the pizza, and if the weather's good in summer time, they have a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy. We did have great service in this experience, but the entrees did take awhile to come out. Overall the food was ~3.5 stars (with exception of the pizza being 4.5 stars). read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening without a reservation, and we were able to be seated inside without a wait. The meal began with some bread and olive oil which was flavorful, and we had a variety of drinks - the Sunset Sangria was excellent. We stared with the margherita pizza - which had a nice flavor to it, and the grilled octopus salad which my friends enjoyed as well. I had the pesto pasta, and while I had ordered it with fried chicken added, the chicken was not included (and was still on the bill), but the dish was tasty. Others had the whole branzino and the lobster ravioli and enjoyed their meals as well. We finished with the tartufo before having some additional drinks at the bar before heading out. I had to call 3 times before I was actually able to make a reservation. I went with my two friends to celebrate a birthday. We went Friday night at 6:30 PM. We had to wait for a table for about a half hour. There was a thunderstorm so nobody was able to sit outside (obviously.) The staff was very nice but unorganized. The place is very narrow. It's extremely loud. The food is very, very good. I'm not sure it's worth going back. Standout dishes for me were the octopus appetizer. we ordered 2 other apps Angry shrimp & fried calamari The calamari was not the best I ever had. It was nice and tender, but it was kind of greasy and not crispy enough. Our entrées were all very good. I got their gnocchi and added some shrimp to it. It was delicious. My friend got the ribeye and it was delicious too. My other friend got a chicken dish (I forgot what it's called ) and she enjoyed it as well. The parking situation is a little crazy. There are quite a few spots, but it's very narrow and when a lot of people are trying to come in it's hard to get out. With the amount of tables there are, there should be enough parking, but for some reason, there just isn't. First and foremost, the entire crew from the host/greeter to the bartenders and waitstaff were super knowledgeable and friendly. Why are we all sleeping on Whitestone, you all?I know it's pretty North, but it really has some awesome places, including Maurizio's. My friend, Laura, suggested we go here thinking it would be nicer and we could sit outside, but even though it's still gloomy this time of year it didn't damper our dinner. We did take a peek outside to check out the view for when we come back in the summer, and it was still stunning. Now the food! We started with Baked Clams and the pear salad. The baked clams were AMAZING. Whole clams, and just the right amount of lemon to taste made this dish amazing. The pear salad was perfection. For the main course we opted for the mushroom pizza, and the Chicken Sorrentino. Usually I feel like a Chicken Sorrentino is in a Marsala sauce but this time it was in a marinara sauce. It's tucked away at the end of 154th Street and Powells Cove Boulevard in Beechhurst, right near the Whitestone Plaza (where CVS and North Shore Farms are located). The place is nice -- you walk in and there's a small bar area with the dining area to the right. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. As for the food, it also didn't disappoint. We started with the Baked Clams Oreganata, Rigatoni alla Maurizio, Seafood Fra Diavolo, and Sauteed Broccoli Rabe. Everything was on point. Maybe the broccoli could've used a bit more seasoning, but still, it was very good. I'm definitely planning to come back to try more of their offerings and check out the outdoor area when the weather gets warmer. read more

We were fortunate to catch a warm, sunny day in October and wanted to dine outdoors. Maurizio's has a deck that extends out over the water and it was a spectacular spot for lunch! We also came back a few days later and ate inside. Beautiful space with lots of natural light. Very good bartender (Bourbon Sidecar was perfectly mixed, and the margaritas refreshing and tasty). Their pasta are very fresh We enjoyed penne alla vodka (added chicken), rigatoni scampi with shrimp (added crumbled sausage -you have option to add several proteins to their pastas), tagliatelle bolognese, and margarita pizza with peppers. Each dish was served hot and fresh, and all were delicious. Their pistachio ice cream and Italian cheesecake are great ways to end the meal. On August 14, 2026 we came here to celebrate my dad's birthday for lunch. I saw beautiful pictures and videos on social media and wanted to try. The parking lot was super tight so we parked on the side street. We walked into the parking lot and see what looks like used to be a beautiful mansion. We entered the place and we waited 10 minutes for the hostess to seat us down. Then we sat outside and the waitress gave us dinner menus even though it was lunch time. We waited 20 minutes for the waitress to come to serve us. Her name was apparently Diana who was the same person who sat us down. She had a really dismissive attitude and acted like she didnt want to serve us for some reason. She started to take our order and then i asked for a corona. Then I asked if that was the lunch menu and then she said cut off my sister mid sentence to get the lunch menus. However, she only came with 2 lunch menus when we were 3 people. She was taking so long that another waitress asked if we needed help. The other waitress Victoria caught on to what was happening then she said I will take over the table guys. Victoria finally saved the day because I was legit about to walk out. My family ordered a chicken parm hero, the burrata and prosciutto pizza and the chicken franchise. The food, drinks and view were fantastic. The music was good and the decor of the restaurant was beautiful as well. However, I would never return due to the horrible service from Diana. Victoria was trying her best to save the experience which I really appreciated. We spent over $100 for lunch and the service really lacked. Please either get more staff or better staff members to run this establishment. I know people have off days, however being professional and providing great customer service is essential in the restaurant business especially in a competitive restaurant industry in NYC. read more

Designed like a two-lane bowling alley, upon entry past a short liquor bar, we were seated on one side of a looong dining room. Apparently those "in the know" either ask for, or are escorted to, the "far" end of the room where the only windows and outdoor patio resides. Add a 15-seat birthday crowd and a variety of pretentious local characters on the boardwalk tables and be prepared to watch plate after plate of food sail quickly passes your table as if it was an airport runway. Praise the 2 lovely waitresses who must have been their first and last day on the job that never expected to work so hard. Special nod to the muscular chef assistant who diligently plowed his way down the alley with three plates on each arm to the lucky bunch due north. We sat 15 minutes staring at a bread basket before ordering drinks and another 20 before their arrival. 30 minutes and an empty bread basket later we were graced with our waitress. Guess how long our meals took, only to arrive incomplete and our own birthday guest staring at nothing for another 20 minutes. No management sauntering table to table as one reviewer wrote. No offer of a free dessert at least and to be fair it's not handicapped friendly for our 97-year old mom to walk the mile of shame back to the parking lot. Bring your own help. read more

It is a very narrow restaurant with no obvious acoustical solution to absorb the noise of everyone talking in this narrow restaurant. My friend wanted to go to this restaurant because it was "in the water" and had great views. Well, not so true. I made reservations just to make sure we had a table. Honestly, there was no need to make any as the inside was completely empty. The outside was not impressive at all. There are only a few tables along a very narrow pier. We asked to be seated out by the pier since that was the reason we came here. However, we were told they were all occupied. We were sat by a wall one side and apartments on the other. No view and a bit awkward with having to look at ppl in their apartments nearly 20 feet away. The table we sat at had bird crap which my husband cleaned up with the only napkin he was given. It took several requests for extra napkins to finally get some. Meanwhile, as we are getting our drinks, I see the same manager who told us there were no tables on the pier, take a party of four down there. I asked our waiter if we can change tables and the manager came and told us no because that party was waiting for the table. Funny thing, that party was not there when we came in nor were they there when I went to use the bathroom 20 minutes after we sat down. So it was a lie. It was obvious he knew them. Now to the service. It was absolutely horrendous. We asked for water three times. Asked for napkins several times. And when they packed my leftovers, they included the shrimp tails I had purposely put to the side BECAUSE it's garbage! So you can imagine when I got home and open the container and found my discarded garbage in my food!! It was literally mix in my pasta. For the price they charge, not worth it. Needless to say, we will not return and will not recommend anyone else either. Of course if you are friends with the manager, then you will get the views and probably the service all customers should have been given. read more

We thought an early Sunday dinner at Maurizio's would be a relaxing way to end the weekend. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The restaurant had booked a christening celebration that occupied most of the indoor dining room. For the first 45 minutes, saying the atmosphere was chaotic would be an understatement. Our server was understandably moving between the large party and the rest of the dining room, but service was extremely slow as a result. Once the party cleared out, the restaurant became much calmer. Unfortunately, the pace of service remained sluggish for the remainder of the meal. There were some highlights. The flatbread special and fried calamari were both excellent and easily the best dishes we ordered. Because one member of our party requires gluten-free options, our appetizer choices were somewhat limited. We selected the shrimp cocktail, which was less successful. The shrimp seemed waterlogged, sitting in a serving dish filled mostly with melted ice and water. The entrées were generously portioned, but the consensus at our table was that each could have benefited from a bit more seasoning. The desserts were enjoyable, though they seemed as if they had not been refrigerated long enough before being served. Maurizio's has the advantage of being a convenient local restaurant, and based on some of the dishes we enjoyed, we're willing to give it another try. My first time here and I came across it by accident. Couldn't make reservation (1- they weren't accepting and 2- phone line wasn't working) but they just opened less than a month ago. But knowing that the food was good. I want to say 95% of the staff was super friendly and polite. Had one or two of the runners that seemed impatient or English wasn't their first language and seemed to say things that came out pretty rude. But I wasn't going to write them off for that. My server Jules and the owner made up for it though. They were attentive and kept apologizing for wait times, mixed up orders but was consistently checking to see how we were doing. The atmosphere overall was peaceful and enjoyable. Will definitely return and recommend. Please give them a chance as they are just getting their ducks together. I grew up in Whitestone, and wish we had a restaurant like this years ago. The only negative was the small parking lot and backing out at the end of the evening. Found out about this place through my Family who lives in Whitestone...and I'm glad we did. We were fortunate enough to go on a beautiful-late September evening. We were seated outside...overlooking the water, with views of the Bridge in the distance. The joint is sorta tucked away...but you'll know it when ya see it. A great selection of appetizers...too many to mention! The grilled octopus was excellent! As well as the fried zucchini. We were a party of 6...so the entrees were all different. But...the food was all delicious and plentiful! Enjoyed it very much. The waiters were fast and attentive and did a good job. Of course the desserts and coffee afterwards were good. The only thing that was a bit awkward was the parking. They have a narrow parking lot...so you have to be able to maneuver well. Other then that...the place is super nice and I recommend it.
