No wonder people love this place. When you arrive, you are greeted so warmly, you instantly feel like family. Food is so tasty. We NEVER go out for Valentine's Day due to overcrowding & feeling as if we're being rushed but that was the not the case here. Tonight, there were lovely specials in lieu of the regular menu and they did not disappoint. I had the grilled swordfish & my husband had the salmon. We both started with the lobster bisque. Dessert was an individual chocolate cake (in the shape of a heart!) which we shared, and coffee. Everything was so delicious. Great service. I was alone for Thanksgiving at Erin's Isle. The food was great and big portion, the staff very nice. When it came time to pay for the bill the waitress informed me that it was already paid for by a stranger. It's these random act of kindness that makes me choke up. I've passed this place literally hundreds of times in my life. Never really thought much about it until I found it listed on Yelp last night with pretty good reviews. I called before going to ask someone if there was an available table for 4 (which there was ONE table left for us at opening time, 5pm), and if they use MSG in their food. It's a common misconception that one needs to worry about MSG only in Asian restaurants. Our friend at Erin's Isle said that it was unlikely that they do, and if they do, it would likely be very limited to certain things on their menu, as they make their own homemade stock. We agreed that if my step-mom, who is "allergic" to MSG, would go to the restaurant, we would double-check to make sure that her choices were MSG-free. We got there in no time flat, were seated immediately, and the waiter (same fellow who helped me on the phone) gave us the Specials. He has a way about him that made everything sound incredible, even with his thick accent that I had some trouble understanding! His service was quite good, even though he was distracted at times with conversation with other customers, and the busboys could definitely use some more training (instead of looking around the room for anyone who needs help, they tended to look at the floor or the ceiling or each other), but they were helpful upon request. The Onion Soup wasn't the best I've had, as it was a little sour for some reason, but I enjoyed it regardless... and the presentation was actually really nice, with a big piece of bread ON TOP with melted cheese on top of it. Never seen Onion Soup that way before. And this restaurant has pretty decent bread in the basket they put on your table when you arrive. I got a Stuffed Chicken special, which was spectacular, smothered with gravy and sauteed mushrooms. Yum. My wife loved her salad, and I apologize I don't know the name of it. The step-mom got the Chilean Sea Bass Special, which was beautifully prepared. I didn't try it but it looked superb, and she really liked it. She went home last night with no symptoms from MSG, so I presume all was good. My daughter got the Rigatoni Vodka, which was creamy but not really that great. All in all, this is a place I would return to, though I think I need to save some money up to do so! read more

I have such a love hate relationship with this place that's been a staple in whitestone for the longest time. The service is a hit or miss, you have quite the characters in here as waiters so you'll either die laughing or be completely appalled. there's nothing in between. The food itself is actually delicious, most dishes are excellent (although the waiters will get them wrong or at least one order incorrect) so that's annoying. The dessert options aren't that great - it all frozen cake that they take out earlier in the day and heat up in a microwave - not ok! read more

Went here for the first time 1 month ago. I should be ashamed of myself lived in the neighborhood my whole life and never been. Really good old fashioned cooking, service was great. Everything from top to bottom was perfect. Started off with the baked clams & stracitella soup. The baked clams sauce was to die for! For an entree we had the shrimp franchese & a side of broccoli rabe. The service was great. We had a dessert that was so good! I don't know exactly what it was but it was a light chocolate foam. Every time we would drive past Erin's Isle we would say we have to check that place out...well, we finally made it there. And I am so glad we did! The atmosphere is friendly and homey. The staff is so welcoming that we felt like we had been dining there for years. Loved the piano player, he really contributed to the atmosphere in a positive way. Cocktails were good, the Cosmo was probably one of the best I've had. For apps we had baked clams & stuffed zucchini flowers. The clams were tender & flavorful. My husband really enjoyed the zucchini flowers, I thought they were good but a little too oily. For entrees, I had chicken parm with spaghetti (my go to in any Italian restaurant I've never been to before) and I thought it was fantastic. (So now next time I will be more adventurous lol) The chicken was tender and both the chicken and the sauce were well seasoned. The portions are generous, so I ended up taking some home and it did not go to waste! Tom had the Seafood Combo (fra diavolo), which he said was delicious - no doggie bag there! Came here for a date night. Was very much look forward to it, but everything was a bit flawed....I ordered one martini and woke up with a huge hangover. This is very odd for me, so I can only assume it was cheap vodka, which explains the $9 pricetag. I ordered salmon (a go-to when out) and I could not eat it. It was so so so so salty!!! I took it home and "cleaned" it for next day leftovers which helped a bit. That brings me to the worst offense...leftovers! My husband ordered a veal entree, but we were full from appetizers and he decided to take it home even though he liked it (but since i wasn't eating the salmon, we just decided that the meal was over). Well, next day, turns out that they did not put in his veal leftover. It was literally the entire $40 plate!!! We called the next day, spoke with someone and they said they would get right back to us.... days later and no call. I understand if restaurants are busy, but to not wrap up our leftovers and give it to us and then not even call back is horrible customer service. I really wanted to like this place....and I could deal with ordering only top-shelf and saying "no salt" in the future...but I cant support such poor customer service :( read more

We went to this restaurant Saturday night. Our reservation was honored and we arrived on time. We were seated and had a bread basket delivered. The bread was good, but could have been better if warmed up. We then waited about 20 minutes just to get menus. A short time later, we placed our order. The lobster bisque was very good and hot. The salads were small, but tasty. We then waited about 35 minutes for our entrees. I ordered a pasta dish but the waitress never asked if I wanted Parmesan cheese, and I didn't ask for it. We had to get the attention of a busboy to get our water refilled. After the table was cleared, the waitress asked if we wanted coffee, but she didn't ask if we wanted dessert or presented a dessert menu. By now, we just wanted to leave and it took about 15 minutes to get the check. The food was pretty good, the service was very mediocre, and the restaurant is NOT handicapped accessible, and we had one person using a walker. The waiter in charge was very apologetic and did not charge us for our drinks or dessert, but the long wait will probably put us off from going again any time soon. Just had dinner here. Waitress was great. Food was delicious. Ordered the hot antipasto and the stuffed mushroom was soooo good. The baked clams were also great. We will definitely be coming back. It's one of those small neighborhood places that is so underrated and no one would think the food was that good. If you're looking for a little gem close to or near Whitestone look no further than Erin's Isle. People should be talking about this place. I would give it a 4.3. read more

Slightly, only slightly above average. Soup of the day was lobster bisque. I could not detect any wine but was assured they used sherry in it. Then result had to be masked with a healthy amount of black pepper (they never offered offered fresh ground, so it was straight from the shaker). It was way too fishy tasting. A dollop of creme fresh or sour cream might have helped, as would a couple chunks of lobster. The linguine with red clam sauce was salty but good. We rented out the back room of Erin's Isle for a birthday party. It's a great room the only downside is that the entrance to the kitchen is back there so servers will be coming in and out of the room while you're eating there. We had some appetizers, my favorite was the Gigi salad. It had shrimp, delicious green beens, and crispy bacon. The bacon was the highlight and the house made vinaigrette was addicting. For my entree, I had the linguine vongole (white clam sauce). I had this dish for the first time in Italy and fell in love. The sauce for this pasta was really good, filled up my dipping my bread in it. My only critique would be was there was lots of small clams on top out of the shell and only a few big clams. This dish would have been made much better if they used more smaller clams. We brought our own cake but their dessert tray looked delicious. Will have to come back and try them next time! read more

I always get the Erin's chicken but go with a group that usually ends up getting the specials of the day. The food, especially the fish, is always super fresh. There was a very loud, rowdy group at the bar which is adjacent to the dining area. Not only could we not converse but we couldn't hear the waiter tell us the specials. the Penne ala Vodka, Marinated steak, Calamari, spinach salad, and seafood are easily the gems in Erin's menu. I've been going since I was very young and it is a favorite of my parents. The bread basket features brick over baked bread and nice flat bread crakers and seasame sticks. The cream sauces can be heavy so dieters beware but the fish dishes are nice for lighter fare also, The shrimp are monstrous and the french onion soup cannot be beat. Check out the desert tray they're usually beautiful tarts and treats from Saint Honere bakery in port washington. The ambiance is nice for a date or family dinner. I came here over the weekend for my sister's birthday. First, I'd like to start by saying my sister likes the food here, but she isn't much of a foodie either. This restaurant is hard to rate because the food was ranging from not good to very good. That's why I rated it at 3 stars. The appetizers were the mozzarella sticks, salad, fried calamari, French onion soup, shrimp cocktail, and eggplant rollantini. The mozzarella sticks were like something you would get in the freezer department of the grocery store and microwave. They really need to replace this with mozzarella en carroza. The salad was bland. The eggplant rollantini was decent. The Shrimp cocktail wasn't good, and the French onion soup and fried calamari was just ok. For entrees were the filet mignon, shrimp and scallop special over pasta, breaded chicken special, halibut special, salmon, and seafood over linguini. My filet mignon was good, but my niece found hers to be too chewy. The shrimp and scallop special was the best entree out of all of them. It was very good! The halibut and salmon were also very good. The seafood over linguini was just ok. My mom didn't like her breaded chicken at all. The potatoes and vegetables that certain dishes came with was very good and well seasoned. I also ordered a side of creamed spinach which was just ok. It could have been more creamier. Would I ever come to dine here? Probably not. But, I wouldn't mind coming if my sister wanted to go again as some dishes were very good. They can really work on their appetizers to be much better though.
