Came in Friday with my daughter to kill time while we waited for her phone to get fixed by Apple. This was our first time here. The store from first glance was extremely clean, very well organized and stocked. They had so many cute different options from Hello Kitty, to Mario, to Kpop plus more. Literally a little bit of everything, keychains, posters, plushies, plus a lot more. My daughter got a Stray kids poster, it was $75% off, we ended up only spending $6. Looking forward to coming again to see what else we may purchase. read more

Despite these bad reviews, I personally thought this store was so cool!! I loved the variety of items and it had many unique different things. Yes, the store was quite expensive although many Japanese stores are quite pricey. The service was really great and the workers were very nice towards me. Wow!! So many bad reviews!!! So well deserved!!! What a POS STORE. Let me explain. I let my son go in with his auntie and together they chose a backpack for school. It was not a school backpack and I told them to return it. They tell us it's store policy, NO REFUNDS. WE JUST Bought it like 7 min ago. WTF. Store policy or not, we literally just bought it. It's not a problem that we buy a different backpack there but just be open to an exchange. NOPE. They said NO. Adding salt to this no refund mess, the store employee tells us if we want a store credit to return later bc their WIFI doesn't work. Again, WTF. No wonder the bad reviews on this store. Cute and interesting store with a mix of imitation and authentic items. If you're looking for anime or Japanese-style cute stuff, this is the place. But here's a heads-up for everyone: this store has a strict no-return policy. Once you buy something, it's yours no exceptions. So be cautious when making a purchase. Prices are also on the higher side. I only bought something because my girlfriend wanted a specific character item from Japan. I wasn't sure if it was authentic, but they had it. You really need to do your homework before buying think carefully, because there are no returns. Overall, shopping here was okay. They accused my 13 year old daughter of stealing while she was with mom (me) and dad shopping. Made her empty her pockets and of course nothing was stolen. The workers here are rude and pos! i asked how much a specific Gundam action figure cost and the lazy girl gave me a range of 100 - 200 dollars without even asking what figure im interested in. And the guy at cash register said ring it up and his idiot will tell me the price like wtf kind of service is that. I purchased an 80.00 backpack but before I left the store found out it was the wrong size. Store said WiFi was out even tho my charge went thru seconds before. They asked me to return in a few hours which I did and still couldn't return it. I understood the no refund policy but explained they should have a back up plan when WiFi is out (not the first time at this store). I asked the store manager to provide feedback to the owners/management that this was a poor way to treat customers. I happen to live almost 40 mi away so returning when their WiFi is up is a great inconvenience. However, all the store mgr did was argue and kept re-explaining what she already stated 3x over. I won't be returning to do business here and I would give FAIR WARNING to customers to beware purchasing here. read more

When me and my friends arrived to the store (it was my friends birthday as well) I accidentally tripped on one of the shelfs. (it obviously caused a loud noise) I fell to the floor against the shelf I didnt knock anything over and got up my friends asking if I was okay and when I fell they only gasped. A worker came up to them when I was looking at sonny angels and told them all to leave for messing around when they clearly weren't. Then she came up to me and told me since im with them if i wont leave she will call security not even letting me explain the situation. They remind me that she's not very popular ! Hello that's why I like her. Plus she's the only character with black hair and brown eyes like me , and let's face it all the animals like her ! Animals are the best judge of character ! I've had some amazing dreams where I'm Snow White I'm skinny and all the animals love me. I never wanted to wake up from that dream . Pretty ordinary selection here with plushies, stone home items, toys, gundam, and sanrio goodies. The stationary and pens and pencils area though is where it's at! Plus! There's a little bench inside for us older folks to rest while the young ones shop. I cannot thank you enough for this thoughtful addition. read more

The place is very expensive. Be aware that they have a no refund policy. Seems after making it thru the pandemic they would be like a regular store and issue refunds for their overpriced fake stuff. If you just want to throw your money away I suggest Lazy Dog and buy a drink instead, at least you would get something for youroney. read more

Now I'm posting this on here since the owner had recently deleted my google review to avoid accountability. Now several months back, i had posted a review on goggle stating that i was being racially discriminated and targeted by one of their employees. I know they have a policy about no drinks at the store while i accidentally went to the store with a friend of mine. At the time of the incident, I didn't know they were strict about drinks. That i understand, however i didnt like the fact that the employee, came up to me in a angry way, had snatched my drink and threw it in the trash without consent. I was scared and looked at her and be like " is this woman okay?, why she's acting aggressive" So how this came to a racial issue? So after her throwing away my drink, there was a white couple with yogurtland cups. She greeted them happily and didnt bother to throw away their yogurtcups away at all. So me and my friend left and vowed to never step foot in this store again. If anything i thank her for being the witness of this situation. Just because its a policy, doesn't mean that you have to be rough and abusive to your customers like this and get away with it. As for Mauya, i would say that was completely disrespectful for you guys to let this type of discrimination of this happen and not only that but you guys have the nerve to delete your review to gaslight other customers coming here. Luckily I wasn't the only one dealing with the situation of what mauya has caused. If you check on reviews, you would see numerous allegations and bad reviews from other customers regarding this store's unprofessional handlings. From what i saw, another comments were regarding the same situation I've been through, when they went too aggressive with their food/drink policy. Other allegations including selling fake items and hazardous items to customers as well.Plus numerous stalking allegations ( from other mauya franchises, not just this one) including management following other customers around closely. Also i would like to mention that mauya city, franchise had also got away with cultural appropriation as well. On their site the word " Mauya" is a Zimbabwe name stands for welcome. Like how the hell has anything to do anime, kpop while stealing a name from Zimbabwe. As to come to a conclusion, mauya is basically an anime/Kpop version of the late infamous " Game Boss" hopefully this store deserves the same treatment as well. And as for anime and kpop fans i suggest shopping at other stores like mimiso, FYE, Box lunch, Hot topic or any other anime stores that doesn't provide toxic policies like Mauya.
