Songbird was such a cute gift shop. They had a great variety and had items organized by different categories and vibes. I liked that they had a little something for everyone and that the store was well organized with plenty of room to browse without feeling claustrophobic. The staff members were friendly and greeted us initially, but let us explore the store at our own pace. I loved the foodie items and their Tiki themed items. I also loved that they had clothing, bags, jewelry, home goods and so many other fun types of items that allow you to find a type of item as well as a theme of the item. I come here regularly to find unique and fun gifts for family and friends. I always find the coolest items and recipients are always wanting to know where I found their gift! My partner bought a ring from here about three years ago and he loves it! Last June (2023), I went in to find the same ring but in a different color for his birthday. Unfortunately they didn't have his size in stock with the color he wanted, but the worker was super friendly and offered to take down my name and phone number and she would let me know when they got more in stock. Fast forward to November 2024, I get a text message from Songbird letting me know they got a new stock of rings in his size! (JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!!) I went in, got the ring, and surprised my partner for Christmas. He was so, so, happy with it!! Wonderful experience coming here today as it was me and my two dogs trip to Long Beach . I was wandering around and happened to enter the store. When I arrived they allowed my two dogs to come inside and I believe the owner offered my dogs treats which I thought was so nice. My dogs are a little bit picky but it was such a nice gesture. You do need to give open tote bags to them and they give a red card they will return your bag as you leave. I believe they do this to protect from shoplifters . The store inside it's very organized and has a lot of eclectic things they are selling. I ended up getting a card and a few stickers but they have a lot to see. Overall if you are near the area it's a cool store definitely worth stopping by. read more

When I think about a store that so perfectly encapsulates the identity and spirit of Long Beach, I think of Songbird. Whenever I buy a gift for someone that loves Long Beach as much as I do, I buy it here. Jennifer, the owner, is amazing, super helpful, and very welcoming. She'll always greet you with a smile and provide a great conversation. My former Long Beach roommate now lives in Chicago and is obsessed with his English Bulldog and I saw a stack of cute bulldog socks. I was on my way somewhere by foot, so I decided to come back to get them another day. When I returned, I couldn't find a pair. Jennifer used her portable device to see if she had anymore in her inventory and she said her system reported one. Somehow the socks ended up somewhere they weren't supposed be but she didn't give up on finding them and made sure I left with my gift! The good: This is a quirky store that reminds me of the online website Uncommon Goods. They sell really interesting giftable items that are great for folks who are fans of specific interests like Wednesday Adams, Selena, cats, sloths, guinea pigs, Prince, llamas, Queen, Beetle Juice, etc. They have candles, jewelry, ring holders, toys, socks, shirts with cuss words, mugs, cards, purses, and more. You can get 15% off with Yelp check-in. The bad: Some of the pins are expensive at $12 but they're custom and pretty unique so you can rationalize paying extra. The interesting: They sell a purse that looks like a Mexican concha bread! It was super cute. I saw a salt and pepper shaker that looked like guinea pigs. It was adorable and was unlike any salt and pepper shaker I've seen before. You can buy stuff from their store online as well for folks staying safe at home! When I was shopping before Christmas they had a staff member stationed at the door dispensing hand sanitizer on your way in and out. They even gift wrapped everything I bought in cute packaging at no charge! You can find Long Beach-specific gifts here like shirts that say "I got my bike stolen in Long Beach" and plenty of other random gifts such as funky printed socks or Loteria coasters. I purchased a set of pens that had sayings about being a dog lover on them and the recipient loved them. This is a super cute store in Long Beach that I came upon while visiting various thrift stores in the area. There were an assortment of jewelry, buttons, novelty items, and other types of items that make great gifts. I picked up a pair of glass hand-painted bird whistles.
