Honestly, nothing really to complain or rave about this particular LEGO store. I like LEGOs. I find that they are getting quite expensive, which I don't like. This South Coast location is small compared to the location in Downtown Disney. But then again, all LEGO stores are small in comparison to the Downtown Disney one. They used to hold free build events here prior to COVID, but I don't see that available anymore, which is a bummer. Overall, this location typically gets more items in stock compared to the one in Mission Viejo, but not nearly as well stocked as the Downtown Disney one. The workers here are friendly and helpful. It does smell like a sweatshop in here when it gets busy with a bunch of kids and adults. read more

I decided I just had to venture to the mall to visit my closest Lego store during the Black Friday sale. The release of the first ever Star Trek lego set lured me in during this busy shopping time. While most Lego sets these days are not cheap I was able to find some good sales there. The store employees were busy with the crowd but their service speed and smiles were in top notch performance mode. I was made to feel welcome and got some Lego tips. They also gave me a couple of holiday mini figures for free. High marks for service with a great fun attitude. read more

Always a fun filled experience here at this Lego store. I feel like this Costa Mesa store location has a large variety of models and they are always in stock. This is a much more convenient location than the one located in Downtown Disney. The bonus are coming to this Costa Mesa store is that the parking is free. I have recently been stocking up on the Star Wars collection as well as the architect collection. I tried to buy them before they are discontinued to keep for myself. Staff at this location is very friendly and knowledgeable. Indoor ambience is really fun and kid friendly. I like how in the back there is parts of very colors and shapes and sizes that you can just purchase by the bucket. I'm not a master builder however I did build myself a crown based on these. Came to the South Coast Plaza store tonight to spend hundreds of dollars and the manager had his employee telling people they were closed before 8 PM. As far as I know, from years of retail work in high school and college, your hours of operation mean your doors are open until the stated closing time. You definitely should not stop customers from entering so the employees can leave at closing time!! And especially on May 4th when you have even more that usual customers coming in for the special gifts with purchase!! This store needs some retraining ASAP because that is NOT how you keep people coming back! As for me, Lego just lost a regular customer because of its employees and I'll definitely be reaching out to Lego corporate!! read more

Went in today to find some missing pieces for our daughters new Lego set she got for Christmas. She's been eager to build but hit a wall when a few pieces were missing. Unfortunately we couldn't find the pieces we were looking for and almost walked out defeated, but Nancy came to the rescue. She checked in the back and scrolled threw all the inventory on the display floor to find those pieces all while managing the line and assisting other customers. She was determined to help us. And with all that hard work, she eventually found the pieces for us. Beyond helpful, kind and just went above and beyond. We will definitely be back! It's the LEGO store!!! What can I said that is bad? They carry most of what's hot right now! They help you as much as they can and even suggest new items. They have an ongoing creation area which is pretty cool. The only bad thing, and that's not the staffs fault is the location. I mean next to the bathroom is great, what I mean is that the LEGO store should have a way bigger space. It's super crowded, but when you think about it, it's really not a lot of space for the amount of people/business it could potentially hold. Also, I helped a kid who was crying because he was lost... at the same time, one of the workers saw this kid too and did nothing. Come on man!!! It's a lost kid! Help the kid out. It's all good. This is a really fun store! We're going through a huge Star Wars phase in our household, and this store is full of the coolest and newest sets for just about any Star Wars fan. We could browse this store for hours, looking at all the fun Lego collections. While Star Wars may be our favorite, Harry Potter and the Pirates of the Caribbean are really big with family and friends. We recently received our new VIP card. It gives a 1 point for $1, and when you reach 100 points (which is pretty easy to do at the Lego Store), you'll receive a $5 off. Since the sets can be pretty expensive, this discount really helps! Although this store is busy, the staff is usually friendly and helpful. The employees also do a great job keeping this location clean and organized. This is a great store for kids of almost any age! We will continue coming to this store for the fun Lego sets and good customer service! read more

Staff isn't trained to guide the insides and outs of legos and minifigure factory. I was told to wait at some random kiosk by the greeter tool of the store. Got here 4 minutes before our scheduled time too. When I was directed to go in, another worker directed us to line up for the checkout register to pick up a "board." Now I'm 10 minutes behind because of miscommunicated between the staff. Just beware and ask questions like we're dumb so you get all the correct information. Legos will always be legos. Horrible customer service! I went to the store to buy a birthday gift. It is the Winnie the Pooh House and they were all sold out. I asked the staff if they take a reservation for the next shipment or if I can pay ahead nicely. Then all of sudden a male staff came from nowhere and yelled at me "WE DONT TAKE RESERVATIONS" with a fierce stare. I don't deserve to be treated like this! Today was one of my first times ever in a Lego store. I was warmly greeted by Mike and by Percival. I made it know that I really wanted the friends set and they did there best to locate it and look into future shipments. Which is above and beyond the usual customer service you get now a days in stores - they were both very kind and made small with me. Legos have come a long way since I was a kid. Some of the Sponge Bob sets that my niece has are pretty complicated and have like over 500 pieces and are not exactly the easiest things to assemble. This store in South Coast Plaza is small but packed full of cool Lego stuff. I was looking for a gift in their Architecture series. So many great sets to pick from. I ended up getting the Empire State Building. The back of the store has a wall full of individual Legos to buy by the piece in case you are just missing a Lego. They have so many really unique sets to choose from in the store. My favorite was the VW Bus. It had reclining seats inside and curtains to put up. I absolutely loved it, just not the $120 price tag. There are tons of series Legos here like Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean. There are even Lego sets for girls now. There are many models of completed Lego creations to admire throughout the store also. At the cashier, there are a lot of neat Star Wars knick knacks like pens, key chains and magnets. I couldn't resist a magnet set. The people who work here are very friendly and extremely helpful. This store is a great addition to South Coast Plaza, and the nice people here can help you find the perfect Legos for gift giving. read more

Love the Lego store in the mall. The staff there are always so friendly and best of all seem to all love Legos. If you are looking for a new set or some hard to find item like the giant Falcon or Y wing this is the place to go. They also have monthly events to attend if you sign up early enough. Prices are full retail so don't expect much in the way of sales but they do always have items that you get for free when you spend over a certain amount which is great. When hubby decided to build one of those small Lego TIE-fighters and grabbed a small box of miscellaneous legos, nostalgia hit and I've been looking for more legos since. Now, I'm not a builder. Absolutely not. I don't have a creative architectural part of me, at all. But, I do like minifigures! And I'm willing to try out those smaller lego structures! Anyways, hubby and I were at South Coast, and it wasn't too busy yet (11am on a Saturday), so we decided to duck in here. Definitely a good-size space. They had the more popular items in the store, which was cool. Good selection of blocks in the back. Customer service was pretty cool/fun/polite. Kids weren't too rowdy, but there were a few tantrums. Overall, I would come by here to grab something. But, I gotta say, I will cringe to see legos on the floor, even when I'm wearing shoes. read more

Great store, and I recently had an experience I wanted to share. I purchased the new, and very expensive "Simpsons' House" set on a whim. My girlfriend did not want to twiddle her thumbs as I built the crown jewel of Evergreen Terrace, so she purchased a $150 set herself. After rekindling our love of Lego, I started looking at the event calendar that was stuffed in my bag. It turned out that a new promotion was starting the following day. You could get an exclusive Martian Manhunter mini figurine, with a purchase of $75 dollars or more. I went the following day to plead my case to the manager since we missed the promotion by a single day. She heard me out but explained she could only do it if I brought in the unopened sets and did a return/buy-back. This would be so the receipt would reflect the promotion's date. The sets were eagerly ripped open the minute we got home, so this was out of the question. Even though she was not supposed to, she let it slide! This was much appreciated, and this manager gained the loyalty of two new customers. On a side note: This store may be smaller than the downtown Disney location, but their selection is much better. I think this is due to the fact that downtown Disney has a ton of foot traffic, so they are always sold out of the harder to find sets. read more

(I'm typing this review as I'm watching it happen) The Lego Club has a booth today at the Festival of Children. I got in line with my daughter and was turned away because the manager said it was for kids ages 6+. I asked why and she said it was a safety precaution due to the small pieces. Completely understandable....HOWEVER, I just watched her give a set (built by her) to a child who was too young to do it as well but his brother was old enough to. The difference between letting my daughter do it in front of her and just giving a pre-built one to someone who was too young but with his older brother is beyond me. What if that kids takes it apart and chokes on a piece? Safety issue my ass... AND when my husband confronted her about, she said she didn't even though we've seen her do it TWICE now! read more

I recently visited a Toys-R-Us and found the Lego section of the store quite fascinating. Something about Legos makes me really nostalgic. I remember all of the countless hours I spent building things using Legos and I even remember McDonald's having Legos in their Happy Meals. When life seemed that much sweeter. SIGH... My 8 year old niece literally had to pull me out of the store. South Coast Plaza, you really know how to attract me. The toys are just getting so much more creative. I just recently saw a commercial where the dad and son ride in a winnebago and travel along the road, picking up Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader on their way to a gas station. All tangible items made of Legos. Do I smell a great marketing ploy here? It seems like they're trying to cater the big kid in all of us. If there's one thing I use to combat the effects of getting older, it's called using your imagination homie. They got Legoland Theme Parks in California, Florida, and 4 international locations. The Lego Imagination Center at the Anaheim Downtown Disney is a real treat. Their building blocks now consist of themes such as Batman, Marvel and DC Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and the list just grows. Their prices can be expensive so watch what you're spending but I doubt that you won't find something in the store that catches your kid's eye and maybe even yours. Their mission to carry on this tradition to new and younger audiences is definitely working thru good customer service, a friendly staff, and an organized, newly built store. Lego my Eggo? Legos! I used to play with legos all the time when I was younger. I recently got a Rocket Raccoon lego minifigure that needed a stand, and so naturally I thought of stopping by the lego store. First of all, his place needs to be bigger! So many legos, so little room. Also, I wish I could buy single bricks here, but was directed to go to their online store to get single bricks (although they did give me a code for free shipping, which was awesome!). The store can (and does) get crowded on the weekend with kids running around all over the place, but the staff here are very nice and friendly and are more than willing to help out. read more

This is an update of one written in 2016, but we made plenty more visits since then. I received a beautiful catalog in the mail and of course this got the grandkids all excited. Mind you, it says it is the summer catalog 2020. After making up the choices at home and circling the wanted Lego choices, we finally had a chance to visit the Lego store. We also wanted to check if the store was prepared for the new Methods of distancing and wearing mask and so forth due to the Covid-19. The South Coast Plaza was ready and open and has its protocols laid out. But we notice that people walking about are not really paying attention to the posted signs. We made it to the Lego Store and for awhile we were the only patrons. Kelly was her name and we showed her what we wanted in the summer catalog. We struck out with both items! Not available in this store and you may want to order it online and it could be 6-8 weeks delivery....what? More people came in and we got alternate Lego sets to make it over the $85 so we can get a freebie. A quick handoff to Loren so Kelly can attend to other customers and Loren can do the checking out. Yeah we are VIP, but whats the rush? Must be cause they want sales and us making that review and make sure their names are on it. Hasnt changed. But the kids were happy and that is what counts. read more
