I went to this salon wanting a blonde balayage. My natural hair is dark brown, and to minimize…read moredamage, I specifically requested blonde highlights based on my own natural base color. I even showed them photos with colors from the same tone family. During the process, hairstylist Amy kept asking her manager about which color to use and how long to leave it on, which made me feel uneasy. She called me over to check the color while my hair was wrapped in foil and even brought me to the manager. One thing that made me feel a bit uncomfortable was When it was time to wash my hair, she didn't speak but just pointed with her finger for me to come over. In the end, they gave me a blonde color mixed with some grayish ash tones instead of what I wanted. They said the photos I showed had ash tones too, and that ash colors eventually fade. They also admitted that the color ended up way too gray, which was not what I wanted. They promised to do a retone for free. The next day, I asked for a refund. At first, I insisted on a full refund, but they refused, saying the photos I chose had various colors and that I didn't want brown. (But looking at the result, it's clear that it's not just missing the brown color -- overall, it's very different from the photos I showed.) So I ended up accepting only half of the refund. This was by far the worst salon experience I've ever had. Other stylists might be different, but I strongly do not recommend Amy.

I personally think it's just too much money to pay more than $500 each time, just to get my hair done. Jessalyn had suggested doing a "hair mask" for a subsequent appointment. But I didn't ask for this. And as someone who lived in Los Angeles for so long, no hairstylist out there has ever suggested a "hair mask." For clients who don't mind paying this kind of money for salon services, this salon might be for them. But even by Southern California standards, I think the total price I paid for hair services here at KOI Salon is still way too high. Southern California is already not a very affordable place to live, and hair services there are also not cheap. I will be looking for a much more reasonably priced salon where I can get quality hair services done without breaking the bank.

I do not recommend hair by daff aka daffne rodriguez…read more I booked an appointment for a peekaboo style for my birthday on the 14th and communicated all details ahead of time. The initial appointment went well and I was happy with my hair overall, but I noticed afterward that my money piece was uneven. I reached out the very next day to get it fixed, but communication was extremely delayed. It took two days to get a response, and this pattern continued back and forth, making it difficult to schedule a correction. Despite this, we eventually agreed on a time. On the day of the follow-up appointment, I even offered to come earlier if she was available, but received no response. I still showed up early for my scheduled 3:30 appointment, texted to let her know I was there, and got no reply. After waiting over 15 minutes past my appointment time, calling, getting no response, and hearing her with another client, I left as she never acknowledged me. When I requested a partial refund due to the lack of communication and missed appointment, it was denied, and I was blamed for leaving as she expected me to wait even tho she never acknowledged me--even though I waited beyond a typical grace period and made multiple attempts to reach her. And she stated no mistakes were made on her end. Overall, the work itself was decent, but the communication and professionalism were very disappointing, especially when trying to resolve an issue. I would recommend improving response time and client communication.
