Smack dad in the middle of nowhere you find Maverick on Desert Foothills in the midfle of nowhere Bullhead City. Gas is Hella cheap at $1.80 a gal. Compared to $2.30+ in vegas. They have a Red box also. The place is very clean, well stocked and organized. We came here to get our losing lottery tix. Oh well better luck next time. Either way Maverick is a decent place to stop for all your covenience needs.

Every meal he prepares shows the care, consistency, and pride he takes in his work. The food is always excellent, but what really stands out is knowing there is someone in the kitchen who genuinely cares about the quality of what leaves his station. Employees like Joe can sometimes be behind the scenes and not receive the recognition they deserve, so we wanted to make sure his management knows what an asset they have. A great cook can be one of the biggest reasons guests enjoy their experience and choose to come back--and Joe is absolutely one of those people. There was only four people ahead of us and she asked the size of our party, left and didn't come back. Only about half of the restaurant has customers the other half is empty. We've waited at least 15 minutes for a party of six just to be acknowledged not sure how long it will take to be seated, but I will do updates. Sooo our service was so slow, rude and never spoke to us even when we talked her for seating us. Long time waiting between the waiter bringing drinks and ONLY when we grabbed him and asked did we get to order more drinks. Had to ask to order our food. Waited forever for our food. Ordered medium rare prime rib and we got a very dry end cut cooked more like medium well. Waited forever for our check. Then our check was incorrect TWICE. The waiter was kind and apologetic but we can't even believe we were charged for that terrible piece of meat a mistake like that should've taken out from the bill. We won't be back.

We usually try a new restaurant or return to an old favorite, and this was my first time here. There is parking outside, although it could be a little difficult if you're hauling jet skis or a boat. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall type of place. It's older and a bit dated, and from the outside it almost looks closed. There were a few customers inside, most of them appearing to be locals, which I always take as a good sign. The coffee was very good, and I liked that they had self-serve creamers, including half-and-half and vanilla creamer. You order at the counter, and when your food is ready, they call you up to pick it up. There is no table service. There was only one cashier, so if you needed something while she was helping another customer, you have to wait. We needed a larger table, but the only one available needed to be cleaned. An employee came over to wipe it down, and there was some frustration on her end because we had already placed our salsa and coffee on the table. It was a minor, but unfortunately, I had the same experience later when I asked for some more creamer because it was empty. The bathroom also did not have any hand soap or paper towels when we visited around 10 AM. There was hand sanitizer available near the cashier. As for the food, I ordered a carne asada plate with eggs after asking if they had a plate similar to steak and eggs. I requested no rice and no tortillas. The portion was generous, but what came out was quite different from what I expected. There was hard rice on the plate, the beef was diced and more like taco meat, and it was served over a corn tortilla. I also ordered my eggs over-medium, but they were cooked completely through with no yolk. I had a couple of bites and ended up boxing the rest. I did notice other customers ordering things like shrimp cocktails and menudo, which I thought might have been a better choice. In hindsight, I probably should have asked what they were known for. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. The coffee was good, the portions were generous, and I'd be willing to give it another try if we're back in town. I will say that their chips and guacamole dip is very good. I also like that they have a self-serve salsa bar, where you can try their green, red, and habanero salsa. They had lime and other condiments available. Next time, I will ask what their popular dishes are.

There was no sauce and the buns were basically cheap Hawaiian rolls. The buns kind of ripped apart trying to hold this sandwich and most of the bite just was multiple slices of brisket which made it impossible to eat. So I ended up just taking the slices out and eating it plain. The brisket to me was ok. It didn't really have enough seasoning or flavor, it also felt very chewy which is something that brisket shouldn't have. So it felt a bit undercooked. The pulled pork was great, but once again its just slapped in-between 2 Hawaiian rolls. Each sandwich is not cheap, 17$ for brisket and 15$ for the pulled pork. Once again the meat was kind of spilling everywhere and there was no sauce or anything else besides the meat and bun. Normally for a sandwich at this price point you'd expect it to be a well crafted sandwich with multiple ingredients and sauce. I would say they should ditch the sandwich pricing and sell it as just a meat plate. For the side I got mac and cheese and I wasn't a fan of it. Overall needs improvements.

Then we noted that the restaurant was within 30 minutes of closing. So, we quickly diverted to El Charro in Bullhead City, only to learn that it, too, was about to close. So, I turned around and headed here, even though OpenTable reported that no time slots were available. I dropped Diane off before parking, and she easily scored a table here. In fact, hardly anyone was seated inside the restaurant, and it did not seem like a festive Mexican holiday at all. The Tuesday Night Menu was very limited, but I selected very tasty and smooth Stone Guacamole not prepared tableside but including tomatoes, White Onion, and jalapenos, to go with house-prepared salsa and spiced up Tortilla Chips. By request Diane received a complimentary basket of non-spicy Tortilla Chips, as well as a Kids Cheese Quesadilla. Somehow this filled her up. I, on the other hand, ordered a Southwest Beef Burrito with added beans inside, and Roja Sauce and Queso on top. The burro was large, but I finished it, along with more beans, and included rice. Everything tasted good and washed down well with Diet Pepsi. Service by Brett was very good, and at least the decor of the restaurant had the festive feel of Old Mexico, in this instance without the camaraderie of fellow celebrants.
