Cool vibe and delicious food! Love the grungy, street atmosphere with the upscale touches. Graffiti…read moreand fencing with leather chairs and cloth napkins. So rad! We were thoroughly impressed with everything we tried. The service was absolutely excellent as well. Best fish and chips I've ever had. The spicy spa water cocktail was incredible! Can't say enough good things.

Our main dishes took over 30 minutes to arrive, and it felt like they only came out because we actively hunted down staff to ask. On top of that, our Caesar salad was missing. After waiting another 15 minutes for the salad, we finally caught a server and explicitly asked to cancel it. 10 minutes after canceling, the server brought the salad out anyway, saying it was on the house. By that point, we were already finished with our meal and turned it away. Kitchens get busy, and guests understand that. But setting expectations upfront ("Hey folks, the kitchen is backed up about 30 minutes today") or proactively offering a small courtesy early on would have changed everything. Leaving guests in the dark, ignoring a cancellation, and then offering an unwanted item at the very end isn't good service. I'm normally a generous tipper, and frankly, a tip wasn't deserved here at all. I left $2.00 strictly out of habit, but the front-of-house service severely let down what was otherwise a great meal from the kitchen.

Went in and multiple people had shrimp or seafood cocktails that were monster sized. Just went for a burrito and it was delicious. Fast forward to last night, and again staying in a nearby hotel and went to Las Palmas. It's nothing to look at...just a food stand in a gas station. But the lady who took our order was friendly and nice and helpful. Wife ordered a quesadilla with shredded chicken. I got a carne asada burrito with rice and guacamole. They also have a salsa bar...I got the salsa verde and some of the spicy jalapeños, carrots, and onions. Everything tasted great. Lots of carne asada and guacamole in the burrito. The salsa was perfect, and my wife also enjoyed hers. Neither of us could finish. Total cost with a large drink was $26. Overall great value and very good food. Much better than the standard fast food options.

I've been here a couple of times, and it fills the void. Unfortunately, that's all it does. From there, it gets worse. There was an ample amount of cheese, however, there was no pico de gallo, cream or guac. I thought that there might have been a communication error, or maybe their Cali burrito isn't what I had come to expect. So, I decided to try their sister restaurant off of Brigham to make sure. Here I got pretty much the same thing except this time it had pico & crema. Still disappointing. When I think back about the place on Convention, I have to say I was also a little bothered about their kitchen practices. I saw the girl in the front of house and the cook eating while working. As for some better alternatives with a proper Cali burrito (in no particular order): - Monchis on River - Tacos Plaza on River - Aimars on Main As for Las Palmas, I can say that the rolled tacos are good. Also, I will be going back to try other menu options, like the carne asada fries and the bean and cheese burro. Let's hope that these other items sing.
