My wife bought tires for her Subaru here 2 years ago. She got a flat the other day and took it in to see if they could repair the tire. They told her that the puncture was on the sidewall so it could not be fixed and she had to replace all 4 tires since her car was all wheel drive. This is a $600 set of tires with fewer then 20,000 miles on them. She did not buy tires. A few days later I submerged the tire in water and found the leak in the treads and got it repaired at a local tire shop for $10. And when I called them to complain about them trying to rip-off my wife they hung up on me. I will never do business with these crooks again. read more

Very disappointed with the bait and switch on how long getting 2 tires put on would be. Got there when it opened and was told an hour to an hour and a half. His coworker said it might be closer to 3 hours but the fellow talking to me said he would squeeze it in so an hour to an hour and a half. I left and came back 2 hours later and the car wasn't even started yet. I called him out on in and he flat out lied and said he told me it would be two and a half hours. As he continued to deny what he said the other worker who heard him say an hour to an hour and a half told him to apologize and say he'll get it done as soon as possible. I got here when they first opened . I had no appointment but I talked to the person on the phone the day before and they told me just come on in. So I walked in and talked to the guy at the counter ( he was really nice ) . I needed 4 brand new all seasoned tires and rotated and alignment. I asked them if it would take about 2 hours and they told me that it should be about 2 hours . So 2 hours passed and I see my car on the lift with no tires on it but nobody's working around it . So 3 hours later my car is still not ready and I'm getting restless and therefore asked the guy why it's taking so long . He told me one of the guys didn't come in and it's only one guy . Then I waited for another 20 mins and my tires were on and the car was parked in the lot and ready. All of a sudden my car goes back in the shop on the other side and now it's getting a alignment which he told me is another 30 mins . GREAT!!!! It's 11:15 now and I finally leave at 11:45 . I didn't know it was gonna take this long and if I would've known I would've went to Walmart instead. Wasted my whole morning here and I wasn't the only one either . After previously contacting Mavis HQ for excellent service on brakes for all 4 wheels; I went back for a tire leak which they fixed...THEN i got the" cumminze here": the redhaired 2nd Lt said i needed new PS fluid since mine was VERY DIRTY...I told him im sure Valvoline renewed that in Dec; The redhead also told me i had only 20% feft on my rear brakes!!! I told him you guys did pads and rotors on the rear last XMas time ...He confirmed that on his PC ...then he went to Mgr. I had to wait almost two hours to be told they did not have all four tires that I requested. I called on a Thursday and was told they will be in stock the next day. Appointment scheduled for Saturday. They called to confirm the appointment on Friday for the Saturday. Not at any point did they mentioned they did not have the complete merchandise until my car was on the lift with all four tires off. They offered two all season tires in place. Why would I want all season if I specifically asked for snow tires?!. Called the regional office and the manager was very unprofessional in the matter. Offering a free oil change and 30$ off an alignment. I felt that was not enough compensation being that I have to be inconvenienced to return to get the other two tires. Also just had my tries rotated and my inner tires are chopped. So I have wasted the money on the alignment that they supposedly did and now I have to replace $500 into tires and an alignment at the dealership. The employees are very incompetent. A handicapped man was there to get his muffler replaced on his wheelchair assisted minivan he said a gets tore off when he goes up his driveway I watched them weld the muffler on incorrectly straight up-and-down instead of laying flat. The correct way would have given him more ground clearance and it would not have the chance to be tore off again. But I guess they were more concerned about a repeat customer been doing the job correctly and not having any compassion for someone who is disabled. Again run from this location the manager is horrible you'll be better off going anywhere else. read more

I absolutely do not recommend this location. I made an appt for four-tire replacement, oil change, and inspection, one-hour time they quoted. Simple right? Then they tried to sell me various services I did not need: breaks, rotors, & pads after 45 minutes of waiting and thankfully due to time, I canceled the rotor they claimed were a must and the oil change and inspection. Mavis did not complete the work scheduled and after a second opinion, I do NOT need breaks, rotors, & pads. Ironically, they never mentioned an appointment to retorqued the four tires I did purchase, I thought tires what they were known for? I never give reviews because I do not have time, I made time for this one. read more

Called ages of time and spoke to the corporate office they price matched the tires I wanted to the lowest price available online , came here and had it installed and balanced in less than 30 minutes in and out, they have 9 lifts and a crew of 10 people so they can handle any job. I do unrest and people are upset but you got to understand that these people are like salesman and try get commission so you need to fight them for the best unbeatable price and you will end up being the winner. I had a very positive experience with Mike Miller at Mavis tire center on Central Avenue. last wed. I brought my car in for a problem that I had been experiencing with the constant loss of air in the tire, which concerned me. I dealt with Mike on Wed. and the problem was the rear tire sensor needed to be replace, but had to be ordered. stopped in at 8;00 am on Sat. and Mike was meticulous about finding the proper paperwork, and making sure that the sensor was the correct one. i was shocked to see all the bad reviews for this shop, as i had a wonderful experience. perhaps my back story changes the way i view things. my car was in an accident, and was serviced at a nearby dealer. a few days after the service, i noticed i still had pulling to one side, and other issues with my vehicle's front end, which was affected by the collision. after bringing it in, the dealer said they would do an alignment as a part of the insurance coverage, since my vehicle did get slammed against the sidewalk in the accident (i had pictures, thank god for camera phones!), but i would need to get new tires in order for it to 'hold'. i was given a quote for a pair of tires with installation, and so was on a mission to find out if i could find a better price. and find a better price i did! went into Mavis, and requested a quote for a pair of tires. the cost was significantly less than the dealer quote, and i admit i stopped looking right there. it turns out i had other issues with my brake system, which gave me some answers to the issues i brought the car to the dealer to have addressed to begin with, so that didn't surprise me too much. i wasn't under pressure to pass inspection immediately, so i guess it wasn't as important as it was for Roger and his financial issue. bottom line: i got a pair of tires, with the insurance protection, for less than the quoted price from the dealer. i had no appointment, and i was done in about 45 minutes. this included the 5 minutes the head mechanic took to explain my braking system issues. at the end, i also got a quote for the service for those problems. i have had service at this location before, but it was a different crew at that time. as far as things go for me, i received the same quality service i did the last time i went there. i had great service, got a great deal, and had a quick turnaround time for a walk in. as soon as the dealer is done with my ride, i will be there getting my brakes serviced. and yes, i did get an exact price, in writing, for the brake repairs. So honest!! Tires are their business and yet despite the fact that Mazda wanted me to buy 4 tires 6 months ago, at Mavis they told me I needed only 2 and then come back late fall and they'll check the other two then. I have been here a few times now, and so far so good. I brought my truck here after work for a new tire, and alignment, and even though it took them about two, to two and a half, hours to change my one tire and give me that alignment I did not leave here feeling that I had been nickel and dimed to death. I typically went to Pep boys down the road, where I have gone for years, since these two places are close to where I work, but every time I left Pep boys I had this huge bill with all of these extras charges on top of the regular charges, mandatory insurance fees that are required to get the rebates that they offer, up sell upon up sell and by the time the list was done the discount, or rebate, they gave me was completely nullified. So I decided that I would give Mavis a try, and it was so refreshing to have people do exactly what they say that they are going to do, no up selling, no hidden fees just "This is what we need to do and this is the cost." done. So, A few weeks later I bring my truck back for a noise under the hood, I drop the truck off in the morning, I walk to work, and a short time later Mavis calls me to tell me that the noise is my tension pulley. They made sure I knew what a tension pulley was, and what it did even though I already knew, and how much it was going to cost to replace it BEFORE they did any work. Perfect, I gave them the go ahead and it was done by lunch and I haven't had a problem with it since. I then bring my wife's car there for an oil change, same thing this is how much its going to cost, we will call you when its ready. I go to pick up the car and they tell me that I had a rear directional light out so they replaced it at no charge. On a side note the same oil change here cost me about half the price as it did when I took it to Jiffe Lube, where I have gone for years, like a 35 dollar difference in price in fact... see that free Hoffman's car wash isn't really free. Then I bring my truck back for an oil change a few weeks later, same thing, half the price, we will call you when its done. When its time to leave work I walk over, get my truck, they checked a few other things at my request still only charged me for the oil change. I have not known them for long but they seem to shoot from the hip, and through several dealings with them I cant find anything to complain about other than the wait, which is fine if you work close by, and one of the mechanics has a bit of an attitude when he thinks that he is out of earshot. Plus that one mechanic in particular can be a little rough with the vehicles, in my opinion, although I don't think it's intentional, hes just in a hurry, but the other guys will generally speak up and say something. Other than that all of the guys, that I have spoken to, are friendly and professional so one out of the whole bunch isn't bad. read more

Made an on line reservation for 10am the following morning. I got a call from Mavis later that afternoon to confirm the reservation. I thought "that is strange but I was happy that the store had received my reservation". I arrived the next morning about 10 minutes early. I waited for over an hour and my car was still out in the parking lot. I asked for my keys and left. The guy I dealt with was pleasant enough but didn't seem to care that he had just lost a customer. Guess they were just too busy to care. This is the 2nd time I made a reservation and had to wait an extended period of time. This time was my last. read more

Proceed with caution! March 2015, bought 4 tires to be installed, mount and balance. They overcharged me by charging twice for mount/balance each tire. When I called them on it, they first told me I was mistaken, then rechecked their numbers and said it was a "mistake". After leaving with the car, the front right tire wasn't operating properly, thumping especially at highway speeds. I brought it to my local mechanic who determined that the two front tires were not balanced properly. I didn't want to deal with Mavis further, so I had my mechanic rebalance the tires and they now are operating properly. Mavis tire prices are low, but beware, in my opinion they are not reputable. read more

I bought 4 tires at Mavis last summer, and I wasn't entirely happy because they had not replaced the valve stems even though the installation package included new ones and they failed to diagnose a bad control arm bushing as the cause of a pull when braking, charging me for a brake system flush that did nothing. I hadn't driven much since then because I was working out of town, so I didn't have a chance to put my snow tires on until January, but I went back because it is close by. I was quoted a price of $40 to change all 4 without balancing them. When I looked out I saw the technician balancing the first one and reminded the guy at the desk that I wasn't getting them balanced. He replied that he told the installer to do it anyway but he wasn't going to charge me for it. They also put my regular tires in plastic bags so they wouldn't mess up my car on the way back home. A much better experience than when I had the tires put on last summer. read more

I recently brought my car to Mavis for new tires. My usual place was closed for a vacation but one of my tires was in really bad shape so I needed to have it replaced immediately. I placed an order online and did not check that I wanted the balancing service option. I left my car there to have work done and my husband picked up the car for me. He did not notice on the receipt that I had been charged for balancing. When I noticed I was charged for a service I did not want or request, he called the store. The worker at the store told my husband "There is a checkbox on the Internet that was left checked, saying she wanted the tires balanced. But listen, if you want, bring it back, I will take the weights off and refund her the money. The car will shake like hell and wear out her tires." My reservation confirmation did not include the balancing. So now if I want a refund for a service I did not request I have to take more time out of my day and bring the car back to the store. Just overall frustrating and next time I will just take the bus until my regular guy is back from vacation. read more

I came in because I had a slow leak in my rear driver side tire. I just needed a cheap tire to replace the one that was leaking. They replaced it and everything was fine. The customer service was also great. The next morning I realized my tire was once again flat. Turns out they changed the wrong tire, taking off my front passenger side tire which was a perfectly good tire. Now I'm missing work and driving way out of the way in order for them to fix their mistake. I get there and did not receive any type of apology, I was talked to as if I had done something wrong and also laughed at. I was told that they were going to give me an old tire that was laying around in the shop to replace the one they took off by mistake. There is no way for them to assure me that the tire they were putting back on my car was in the same condition as the one they took off my car. I requested that they leave the new tire on as well as replace the one they were originally supposed to fix. I had to go back and forth with Bill Stephensen who was the manager for about 45 mins because he told me he did not have the authority to make the decision to give me the free tire even though they made the mistake and cannot give me the tire they took. I was told to call his superior and when I took him up on that offer he declared that the situation was ridiculous and that he would pay for the tire himself. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MAVIS AGAIN! I was not taken seriously and I did not appreciate it. This all took place over a $55 tire which I know for a fact will not affect Mavis's profit margin in the slightest bit. Instead of solving the problem they created immediately and being remorseful, I had to fight for the problem to be resolved. read more
