Top Notch! I was headed to Albany from Beacon, NY last Saturday, one of my tires blew out and I was stuck alongside the Thruway. A great towing company rescued me and delivered me to this Mavis location. I was kind of anxious to get to my actual destination, but understand that Saturdays are the busiest day for many Mavis locations. The manager, Cory, was kind, helpful and gave me a choice of possible tires to choose from based upon my needs and cost. They took my car in, replaced the tire and I was back on the road within one hour of arriving at the front door. There was a Dave or Dan there as well, not sure of his name, but he was also very kind and easy going. I have always had a positive experience at my Mavis location as well as here in Albany. read more

Great overall experience hands-down very very customer friendly. I pulled up with an ATV tire with just a couple questions. The gentleman came outside fixed. Gotta say, every experience I've had with Mavis Discount Tire has been positive and painless. Today I rolled in without an appointment, because I had a pressing issue with one of my tires. Or at least I thought I might. Part of me thought I might be imagining the whole thing. One of the tires didn't seem to be holding air. I suspected there might be a slow leak. This was a problem because the missus had plans to take the car on a road trip, and I wanted to make sure it was safe. My imagination also suspected there may be an even slower leak on another tire, and I asked if they could check that one too. They warned me that it would take awhile before my car could go up on the lift. But the shop had WiFi and a place to sit, so I was able to break out my laptop and get some work done in relative peace. It would have been better without the TV, but I understand some people need a distraction while waiting for their cars. Anyway, the staff didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. They patched up the tires. Told me I wasn't crazy. And sent me on my way for well under $50. I love my regular mechanic. But when I have a tire problem, I'm looking for the nearest available Mavis. Thought I was getting a decent price on the tires, but I would never recommend this location for service! I was visiting from out of town and found out that I needed new tires, so I made an appointment online a few days ahead. When I arrived a few mins early for my appointment, it didn't seem to matter that I had an appointment since they work on first come, first serve basis. The acting manager actually said they don't honor corporate appointments, that I should have called them directly. Does corporate know this? Why bother offering this option if it doesn't really matter? I waited almost two hours for my car to be taken in for new tires! What I expected to take an hour plus of my time actually took closer to four hours to complete. There were also over a $100 of extra fees for installation and tire disposal that was not stated when I made the appointment. So much for the great price I saw online! Your time is valuable, and the Mavis internet price is not the actual price! Save on both and go elsewhere! read more

I am so grateful for how kind, professional and knowledgeable these guys were in Albany. I went to the Mavis in Schenecdaty after work today but all of them had a 1.5-2hr wait. I was overdue for an oil change . I came in hoping I'd just get my tires fix ( it was slowly going flat) but it turns up I had a puncture in the tires and needed new ones. I didn't know how I was going to pay for new tires (instead of $27 to fix) and Full synthetic oil change. He worked his magic found me a coupon and I was able to pay both. They changed the tire and did the oil change quicker than I expected. Thank you so much. read more

Took my vehicle there for an oil change the technician drained my transmission fluid. I paid out of pocket for a rental and the company refuses to refund me all of the money I paid for the inconvenience they caused. Felicia & Mike Hotaling are the worst and this company is trash. Bought all new tires and they overinflated my tires to 50-55, experienced strong tire vibration on the highway while driving and almost have an accident. Call their corporate office and wasted my time; they just said it's not their fault due to calibration issues. Beware of the Store Branch in Latham as they never calibrate their machine and will overinflate your tires. I am a long-time customer of Mavis and never again. The Regional Manager Jaime is no help at all, keep denying it. Imagine how many customers they put in danger on the road due to their negligence. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE FOR SAFETY. Troy NY Mavis tire. Corner of Congress and 5th. Okay, I went to Mavis tire for a 10 o'clock in the morning appointment, they said it would take 2 hours, went back in 2 hours at 12 noon and the truck was still in the parking lot . They said it would be any minute, I waited until 1 o'clock and they pulled the truck in their garage for changing the tires. After it's sat there another 20 minutes, they tried to put it up on the lift for 20 minutes, it looked like a bunch of circus clowns who didn't know how to do their job, the Ass manager's name is Jake, very polite, but that doesn't make up for the incompetence, I told myself shame on them the first time shame on me the second time, so I decided to leave, I do not recommend this place. There were 2 other people in the shop who had been waiting for several hours extra and one of them was a girl who was waiting 2 and a half hours for a oil change. I checked their reviews with a 2.2 out of 5 rating, I went up to the manager and told him I didn't have good vibes and that they needed to pull my truck out and give me my keys back, he looked at me confused and asked what do you mean good vibes, I just gave him a look like you've got to be kidding me, no idea how this place can still be in business but I guess they just can't get good help and that's the way it is these days,You go to these places to save money, but after reading the reviews about tire failures, scratched rims, leaky tires and valve stems that were placed on brand new, I don't recommend Mavis tire, unfortunately I don't know who to recommend so I'm still searching for new tires, my truck is a 2020 and I don't want it scratched or ruined by a bunch of circus clowns, Then when I pulled away, a few minutes they were in my truck the whole dashboard and arm rest is dirty and greasy, just like the people that work there. I went to Mavis to get a flat tire fixed. I had a tread warranty since I bought the tire with them. John and his team were fantastic. I wasn't aware that I'd have to pay for balancing. I was initially charged but after speaking with John the manager he deleted the charge! I didn't even ask him to do that! I was very surprised. He said this one was on them. I am so disgusted with Mavis. I used to think they were fast & helpful but no more. I had a nail in my tire and brought my car to the Mavis at 935 Central Avenue in Albany. The guy at the desk said they were busy but sure they could get me in. There were only 2 other people in the waiting area. After an hour and a half I asked how much longer it would be. He assured me I would be next. Then, 30 minutes later the mother of one of the mechanics came in and said her car was making a rattling sound. They took her info and she hung out at the desk chatting and waving to her son through the service window. I again asked how much longer and explained I had another appointment to get to and couldn't wait too much longer. He again said I was definitely next. I then saw a mechanic finish up with the car he was working on. So of course I was watching to see the mechanic walk outside to get my car. But no, he walked over to his mother's car and drove it in to the garage. She had only been there 10 minutes while I had been waiting over 2 hours!! Not acceptable! I told the manager I thought I was next and he just stared at me. He looked at me and pretended he didn't know what I was talking about. He offered no apology and made no attempt to satisfy me as a customer. I asked for my car key and left. 21/2 hours for nothing. The job itself would have taken less than 30 minutes. This was ridiculous and insulting. Totally inept management. read more

I brought my car to Mavis for 4 tires and an alignment. I encountered the following problems: When calling to set up the appointment, the representative, after receiving my account information, implied that I had not paid one or both of my previous bills with Mavis. I have twice been to Mavis prior to this most recent visit and paid both in full at the time. While perhaps just confusion on his part, he did question whether I am fully paid up and seemed to imply that I was not. An unpleasant encounter within the first 60 seconds of seeking work on my vehicle. Regardless, I brought the car in for the work. The next day, I was told that they could not do the requested work because the strut bolts were loose, and that they had no idea "how I even drove the car here." They agreed that if I resolved the issue, they would do the work. I brought the car home and tightened the strut bolts to torque spec myself. Aside from the fact that they could have just tightened those themselves, I found that only one bolt was "loose," and only slightly at that. Certainly not warrant for alarmist rhetoric that my car was a trainwreck. The general manager was sympathetic to the hassle that this caused me, and offered to assist with my bill when I brought my car back. I set up the second appointment. Rep #1 quoted appx. $450 dollars for the job. The next day, Rep #2 called me to say that the work was in fact $650+ because of the requisite fees, plus the voluntary costs to which I agreed and do not contest to be part of the $200 discrepancy. Rep #2 acknowledged that I should have been informed of all fees prior to dropping of my car, but did not apologize and simply asked if they should do the work. The final bill was $526.07 for all work minus the alignment which they said they couldn't do. I picked up the car and paid in full, only to find that the tires, which I measured in the lot before even leaving, were around 25psi. My car calls for 35psi, well above their actual pressure. Later, I realized that the invoice I received does not include the odometer reading for my car. Aside from this being illegal, I am naturally concerned about my new tires' warranty. I still have a concern because when I talked to the general manager again on January 28, 2022, he said that they do indeed have my odometer reading in the electronic invoice at appx. 56k miles; my car has 97k miles. He requested that I send him a picture of my odometer and license plate so he can update that (an additional task I need to complete to render what should have already been accurate handling of the work on my car). My concern remains, though, that the tire manufacturer now has my tire purchase at 56k miles, essentially meaning I have lost 41k miles of warranty. The general manager confirmed that this was corrected all around, but I have no way of knowing that for sure I guess. After the work, the general manager stated that since I already paid, he could not help me with the bill, a fact not made clear to me when he initially offered to compensate me for my troubles with the first appointment. He did, however, offer a $50 voucher, which I refused. Lastly, I had the car inspected the next week, and asked my mechanic to check the front-end parts for anything loose (I did not say Mavis told me I had loose parts). My mechanic said everything was 100% in the front. On January 28, 2022, I sent my full complaint to Mavis through their website. I have not received any response so far. Anticipating that this one-star review will prompt an automatic reply from Mavis: I am not going to call your customer support phone number because I have done my due diligence to this point. So my car had broken down in front of fantastic sams by Hannaford on trouble Ave and I walked on over to Mavis to see if somebody can help me and the guy working the register his name was Tom tried to help me get it started gave me suggestions we concluded that it was probably my starter and he gave me and my two-year-old a ride home and he was just extremely kind and generous and I would 1,000% say that that's an excellent place to go I've been bringing my car there for years and they've always got it fixed up for me and they're always very very kind and usually people won't just be like all right I'm going to leave work and give you a ride home with your two year old daughter but Tom did it and I'm very grateful for him thank you Tom read more

One of their workers took my car for a joy ride. Tracked via GPS tracking and dash camera video. Called the police and they have been arrested. Incident is ongoing. Have yet to hear back from corporate when I called them on 2/13/20. Store also never called me back. They failed to place the final lug nut on one of my tires. Would avoid at all cost. read more

Had 9:30 appointment for 4 new tires scheduled days in advance. Scheduling the appointment was easy and did not cause any problems. This was also the LAST easy thing about this experience. When I arrived I was told that my selected tires were never delivered, but I could have something else instead. Since I just wanted it done I agreed. Was told that it will take couple hours to do the work. I left and went to dinner next door. When I come back I was told that car was still waiting its turn, and they can't give me any estimate on when will be ready. I Expressed how not happy I was that they do not respect my time at all. After I contacted corporate number, and after spending close to half hour on the phone (customer service was pleasant, just not able to help much), I was told that my car will be done for sure by 2pm. It is almost noon and the car is still waiting outside. Would I go with Mavis next time? Don't think so. Do I expect the 2pm time to be kept? I would not bet on it. Do not recommend for anyone who respects their time, as in my opinion the company does not respect it. read more

Paid to replace 4 tires. Received the car back with a missing lug nut and a stripped lug nut. Solution was to bring it back to fix what they broke instead of paying for what they broke or refunding. So the plan was to get the truck four new tires and an inspection. While doing the inspection they found the rear brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. Now I can't afford to pay over $1000 in one trip and I figure I'll split it up and get the brakes done next time if I could. So I ask the guy can the truck can pass inspection without the brakes being replaced and he says "I'm not sure". So I say, "can you find out and tell me". He says "you need new brakes and rotors". So I tell him, ok, cancel the four new tires, I'll get the brakes and rotors this time and the tires next time. He tells me the tires were already mounted and balanced and they could work with me on the brakes. I said "I can't afford both even if you work with me, just charge me for the labor on the tires and take them off and I'll do the brakes so it can pass inspection", Well apparently he either didn't believe I didn't have the money or was just having trouble understanding me because he just kept telling me "I don't understand why you don't just get them done" and continues saying "I don't understand what your saying, here's my manager". Now keep in mind his tone was aggravated and a bit dismissive and I'm not happy by the time I get the manager. Here's where it went real bad. Now look, the other guy is a mechanic just doing his job. I don't expect him to understand the money problem and work with me to find a solution. But this manager, he just didn't care. Not even a little. It was like it was a bother to be on the phone with me. Like I was trying to sell him something. Basically blew me off. Disgusted I tell him to just take the new tires off, I'll pay for the labor and get the brakes done somewhere else. I'm aggravated, but I'm still alright. Ok, so now the mechanic calls me up again and he's asking why I'm not getting the work done and at this point I've had enough and say "just put the old tires back on, I'm coming in an hour" Well, he just can't fathom it. He just keeps saying "I don't know what you're saying" in a real dismissive tone. You would have thought he was the one paying the way he was demanding an explanation. So I tell him I'm coming over there now. I figured we would be at it all day on the phone, but if I showed up they'd put the tires back on and give me the truck. I get there super mad and trying to cool off. I see the manager, tell him I just want to pay and get out and he tries to get me to go into the garage so that I can see the brakes, as if seeing the brakes would magically change my finances and aggravation. Keep in mind, there is no concern in his voice, he's trying to win an argument. I blow up at this point (I regret losing my temper, but this manager was ridiculous). After I blow up he just says the car will be done in 45 minutes. He seriously couldn't care less about the situation. I pretty much make a fool of myself storming out (again, I later regretted it). Heated, I walk down the road a block to Midas, explain my situation and two amazing things happened: 1. The manager totally understands my financial concerns and agreed to just do the brakes (the tires were not necessary for the inspection, just wanted to get them before winter). I only had to explain my situation once. 2. The manager appears to care and listens to what I have to say while we interact. After that my anger was completely gone. I realized that experience at Mavis was bizarre. I go back and finally get the truck. The manager rings me up without looking at me. I go on my way. That's it. In the manager's defense, he didn't shout or anything when I lost it. On the other hand, it's the kind of place that provokes you then acts surprised when you're angry so.....(see the other review, this is a pattern) That's the story. My Daughter went in there for and inspection and i knew she needed Front brake calipers, Rotors and Pads, and I expressed to the mechanic whose name was either Roosevelt or Dominic in charge of doing the job that if any other work is needed to let me know personally as my daughter knows nothing about cars and she was way up north in New York at school. The mechanic called me back and said she needs wipers as well at which time i said ok, in the interim he put on 2 front struts and labor involved to the sum of $744.00 without telling me but instead tells my daughter which the car did not need to pass inspection as the one`s that were on the car were in good working condition, I have since spoken to Jeff( asst manager), Cori ( Manager) and still weeks later haven`t heard from Mike the district manager either in order to address this matter of how it was not ok to install these struts in the first place so instead after numerous phone calls have just ignored my calls and this has been going on for over a month. I personally would not ever do business with this establishment as it practices are dishonest and will be reported to the necessary corporate personal as well as BBB and etc. read more

I made an appointment for 9am on a Sunday. I was there by 8:50 or so. I checked in when the door opened and was told that I was second in line. No problem, I was just having my winter tires switched to summer tires and a brake inspection. At 10:00 my car was still not inside. They finally brought it in at about 10:15-they finished at 11:00. Two hours to have tires mounted and balanced. Pretty excessive. There were four mechanics on duty but they spent most of their time standing around. There seems to be no management and the facility is disgusting. Steer clear of this Mavis location. Oh and I never heard a peep about my brakes. Very disappointed. Went in for 4 new tires. One never gave an exact price before service. Second took 3 hours for tires. Third my car is still telling me there is something wrong with the tires. Well, it's a business. Expect to pay top dollar. They'll usually take folks on short notice, but you'll pay a lot for simple work. Paid $700 for a pair of struts, and a tire. Took the whole day to do it. That's about $400-$500 dollars in labor for a couple bolt on parts and a tire. read more

They spent a total of 45 minutes working but I was here for 3 hours because no one serviced the car until I said something. Everyone was rude, turned their back when talking, spent their time checking out female customers, smoking cigarettes and on their phones. Do not come here. I had a 11am appointment to get wheel alignment & balance came back at 3:30pm and my car was still in the parking lot untouched after I was assured my vehicle would be ready in 4 hrs. My car then was moved into the car port at which part say another 73 mins before anyone tended to it...I am appalled as I had family function to attend and this allowed me to miss out. They could not have been nicer or in better spirits even though it was 90 degrees out, humid, raining on and off and they had been there since 8 am. Cheap in the beginning but expensive in the end it's always never there fault i buy new brakes from them and new tires like 2 months later the tire had a bomb on it and I just took it back they charge me $60 that's not my Big issue my problem was with the brakes I got new brakes all four of them and they make in Sounds since the day I bought them and every time I take it back to Mavis they always have a different answer for me it's never the brakes it's always something else and I have lost like more than $2000for the brakes and the tires if I had went to my real dealership even if I paid the 2000 and the end of the day I wouldn't have any more problems because they give good quality stuff Mavis discount tire is the worst they have the worst of ever and that's my biggest regret is going to them I'll never go back there again read more

These people are dangerous. When they changed my tires they did not tell me that one wheel needed a new tie rod, a problem anyone changing a tire would notice. They were fine sending me on my way, while my wheel could have flown off at any point and was hanging on by a nut. Forget the fact that a simple tire change, no alignment, took them over two hours. I had an appointment for today at 10 am. I got a call at 9:50 am from Tony telling me that their truck broke down YESTERDAY and that my tires weren't there. I'd driven half an hour and was 2 blocks away when I got the call. Why wasn't I called yesterday when they knew the tires weren't there? I lost an hour of my day and a couple of gallons of gas for no reason. When I got home and called Tony to find out what happened. I asked why I wasn't called yesterday when they knew about the truck breaking down. His answer was that it was almost 5:00. How that's an excuse is beyond me. I told Tony to cancel my order, to which he only said "OK" and then hung up on me! No apology, nothing but a dial tone. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will never do business with Mavis in the future. My wife bought tires for her Subaru here 2 years ago. She got a flat the other day and took it in to see if they could repair the tire. They told her that the puncture was on the sidewall so it could not be fixed and she had to replace all 4 tires since her car was all wheel drive. This is a $600 set of tires with fewer then 20,000 miles on them. She did not buy tires. A few days later I submerged the tire in water and found the leak in the treads and got it repaired at a local tire shop for $10. And when I called them to complain about them trying to rip-off my wife they hung up on me. I will never do business with these crooks again. read more

Completely incapable of keeping a schedule. Every single time I've dropped a car off to be serviced by the end of day or even next day, it's late. They put you at the bottom of the list to get people who show up during the day in. Well, say good bye to one of your commercial accounts.
