When we showed up on a Saturday afternoon with a mysterious rattle coming from under the hood in our Accord, the guys at Monro were all hands on deck to figure out what was going on. They found an issue with the axel and were able to replace it same day, faster than their original estimate. Chris at the front desk was especially personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and not at all condescending or pushy. We were visiting from out of town and relieved to have the problem solved before we got back on the road. They even waived the fee for the inspection. Mike R was professional, kind and knowledgable. Was told by another local shop where I got my oil changed the day before that my tires would pass inspection (I had my doubts). Mike showed me the wear and dry rot on the inside of tires. I couldnt have the tires replaced right then because I had somewhere to be. Nobody enjoys going to an auto repair shop. From surprise repairs to sky-high prices, it's not a pleasurable experience. However, Monro of Latham has the competition beat. Their prices are fair and you feel like you're more than "just a number" to them. Roy is the guy to go see. I spoke with him at length about some issues I was having with my vehicle. I was overcharged for an oil change. I was promised by phone that it would be $89 but I was charged $133. I also requested the tire pressure be adjusted to 35 PSI but that was doesn't done. However I was told that it had been done. They overcharge and lie-skip this place. read more

Updating based on recent visits and contact. As you will note, we had an issue with them last year when they grossly overcharged my wife for a simple oil change & tire rotation. Positives: They did get in touch with us, admitted there was a problem, refunded the overcharge, and provided 2 free oil change certificates. The people working there are actually nice and reasonable to work with. We had them do one of our free oil changes and some minor repair work last fall. They spent a lot of time on the repair that they did not charge for and the repair is fine 6 months later. Negatives: They have a problem with overfilling oil! During the service last fall they overfilled the oil by well over a qt on my wifes' car. I called them and brought the car in for them to drain the excess. I thought this was an isolated issue until we brought the car back last week for or last 'free' oil change - over filled AGAIN. This time I removed the excess but this is clearly an issue that everyone should watch out for if you have oil changes done here. I have given these guys more than a fair chance - they came through in some respects but the overfill issue has us looking for another place to do routine maintenance in the future. read more

Picture this: Thanksgiving weekend Saturday, heading home from a family gathering, and my car throws me a check engine light and the engine starts to sputter. My inspection sticker was removed and I was told I needed new parts. I then brought my car to Keeler Honda for a second opinion & they said my car is fine to pass inspection and they're not sure why I would be failed. If I could choose 0 stars, I certainly would. I arrived today at 1pm with an appointment for a tire install and oil change. I've been sitting here waiting over 2 hours and the tires aren't even on my car yet. It's been sitting there jacked up on the lift the entire time and they haven't done anything to it. I witnessed customers coming in that did not have appointments, and they had far more services done on their car than me. Their cars were completed before mine, yet I sit here and continue to wait. I thought I'd come here since the average customer rating is supposedly 4.4/5.0, and I usually go to firestone which is an absolute rip off, with an average customer rating of 2.3/5.0. I do not recommend Monro unless you are a fan of awful service and long wait times. I rank them up there with firestone now. It doesn't take 3-4 hours to install tires and do an oil change. I thought I was making a good decision coming here. I guess not. Also, the customers who were helped without appointments and got their service done before mine - even though they arrived after me without an appointment - seemed to be friends with the employees here. I'm sorry, but preferential treatment for friends while ignoring other customers who arrived before them is absolutely unacceptable. I was here first, but yet I sit here and wait. Worst experience I've ever had with Monro. If you want to sit and wait all day, and waste a perfectly sunny day, I recommend coming here for service. read more

Went to Monro to get some exhaust work done. Dropped the car off at 10am. At 2pm, they said about 45 minutes until it was done. I was jerked around until about 5pm when I was finally able to pick it up. The total came to $30 more than they quoted. I asked about it, but the person who did the work had left for the day, and the only guy left claimed he couldn't do anything about it. I was forced to pay the higher price so that I could take my car, and told to come back the next day to get it worked out. When I went back, they offered to refund the difference and told me it would take 3-4 weeks to process. It is now 6 weeks later and I have not received a refund. read more

The service would have been quick if they had bothered to ask me what kind of oil I prefer used in my car. But they didn't so when they pulled it out of the lot I asked if they had used what I had in my car the premium oil...they hadn't. So I had to wait for them to redo the whole process over again. Not that that is a huge deal but I think that it shows they aren't really paying attention and rushing through when they don't ask you, or don't show you. Regardless I'll be keeping my business with monroe...just only at the one in Schenectady. I wont be returning here. read more

Right after the first snow of the season I discovered an issue with the windshield washers on the very used Nissan I had owned for just a few weeks. I was getting only a trickle out of them despite the reservoir being full. I took it to the nearest Monro since I work full time and they were open past 5 pm (my regular mechanic isn't). The gentleman I spoke to was able to find a disconnected hose and reconnect it in just a few minutes, at a ridiculously reasonable price! I won't tell you how ridiculous because I don't want everyone going in there looking for the same deal. The washers work great now and I wish I could give the fellow a shout-out by name, but I didn't catch it. Whoever you are, Mr. Wizard of the Windshield Washers, thank you! read more

I recommend this repair shop. Marcelle and John (I think that was the mechanic's) at Monro in Latham are best. I brought my daughter's car in because the check engine light was on and of course she couldn't tell me for how long. We had bought the car used and didn't have great repair records on it. They quickly diagnosed a fuel line leak. When they brought me back to show me the shoddy job some other repair shop had done. I was shocked. It could have been a disaster. They properly replaced the fuel line from engine to pump and showed me finished work. They were genuinely concerned for my daughter's safety and made sure everything else was running right before we left. Thanks guys. read more

I wish they have 0 star. I think they do not deserve one star. I have been there multiple times. Every time I go there they always tried to sell more than what I need. Sometimes I end up paying 2 -3 times more than what they quoted for. One time they even charged for wrong diagnosis (dealership mechanic told me that was wrong diagnosis). Recently, I was informed I need to replaces ball bearings which they replaced about 10 months ago. They said I need to pay full price to fix it because it was out of warranty (By the way I paid about 1,500 dollars). If I were them I would be shameful. Took my vehicle for an oil change. Once the work was done I was informed that it was clear that my tire had a leak but no nail could be found. I took my vehicle back a week later to have my tire fixed. I was informed that I needed a new tire because I had 2 holes. In addition, the other 3 tires needed to be replaced. I know a bit about cars & knew that the other 3 tires were in good shape. This made me think that this company was trying to take advantage of me because I am a woman. This thought was confirmed when I went to another company expecting to purchase a tire. They offered to check my tire to see if in fact I needed to replace it. They found the nail and fixed my tire. I will never go to Monro Muffler again. Terrible dishonest service here. read more

I've had good experiences with the folks here several times since moving back the area. Oil changes have gone smoothly, and I've been given honest feedback about brake/tire wear and other consumables needs. My biggest complaint is that they always seem understaffed, which leads to some delays while staff has to pause to answer the phone or process newly arrived customers. read more

i am leaving for florida in a few days. i was told by a car dealer that my brakes needed service., i had 30 percent left on the pads. since i am driving to florida i did not want to pay for a brake job out of state. i used monroe on a whim. monroe did both front brakes for 400 dollars. much cheaper than the new car dealer which soaked me 680 dollars, for one side in the back. i bought my car brand new and got 65k on the pads and roters in the front, all in all i got a good deal. also can get oil chages and free tire rotations plus quick in and out. i found a home at monroe i tell u 4 sure read more
