So I go into Mavis this morning around 9am to get just two tires that I had already purchased Mounted and balanced. I explained to them the last time I was there and had two tires mounted it literally took all day. So with that said, they told me there was only one car in front of mine, and it wouldn't take all day. So while waiting another customer comes maybe 20 mins after I had been there to have one tire replaced on their car. I watched as they went out looked at the tire came back in and told them they only had one tire that size in stock. The customer then goes outside and eventually comes back in and tells to go ahead and replace the tire. So as I continue to wait that customers car is taken in, tire replaced and the customer is done and I'm still there waiting. So finally my vehicle is taken in and my two tires changed and when I go to pay I ask how is it that a customer that came in after I did purchased a tire, had the tire replaced and done before my vehicle. The answer I was giving was oh that customer was here before I was. And I explained to them that no they weren't I even repeated back to them everything I wrote above about them making the sale and even the one tire they had in stock. I had a 10AM on-line appointment scheduled for 3/26/26 for 4 tires and an inspection. They were unable to do the inspection and if I wanted the tires I would have to wait. I have an E-mail conformation on the services I requested and the appointment time. What is the use of scheduling an appointment when you have to wait behind the walk in trade? Absolutely Unprofessional Service & Failure to Follow NYS Inspection Guidelines - A Cautionary Tale Full disclosure: I am a professional auto technician with over 36 years of experience, and I held a valid NYS Motor Vehicle Inspector's License for the majority of that time. I now work in Connecticut, which prevents me from legally performing NYS inspections -- hence my visit to Mavis for a proper, licensed inspection. June 8, 2025 - First Inspection Attempt I brought my 2001 Toyota Highlander in for a NYS Safety & Emissions Inspection. I did not have an appointment but left my vehicle with the staff. Around 12:30 p.m., I received a call stating the vehicle failed the safety inspection due to non-functioning license plate bulbs. I was told they couldn't replace them because the lens screws were rusted and might break. Given the age of the vehicle, I was pleasantly surprised that bulbs were the only issue. However, when I arrived to pick up the vehicle: The inspection sticker was not removed, as required by NYS DMV guidelines for failed inspections. I was not given a failure sheet until I asked for one in person. At that point, they performed the inspection while I stood there -- after notifying me of the failure over the phone hours earlier. I took the vehicle home, removed the rusted screws using a reverse drill bit, and replaced both 194 license plate bulbs -- a simple fix. June 14, 2025 - Reinspection Disaster I returned with the vehicle for the reinspection appointment at 8 a.m., along with a second vehicle scheduled for a full inspection. This is where things went entirely off the rails. The vehicle was pulled in, wheels removed, and I was then told it would fail again -- this time due to: Torn control arm bushing Worn rear brakes I was absolutely shocked. This vehicle had passed all other safety categories just 6 days and about 200 miles ago. Are we to believe these issues suddenly developed? Either: The original inspection was incomplete and failed to detect critical safety issues OR The current inspection is exaggerated or incorrect What made matters worse: I was denied a failure sheet this time -- again in clear violation of NYS DMV guidelines. I was told I wouldn't be charged for the reinspection because they were "saving me money" -- a baffling statement, especially when the manager then tried to sell me brake work in the same breath. Let me be clear: I examined the brakes myself and agree they need replacement -- but that's not the issue. The issue is transparency, inconsistency, and lack of procedural integrity at a licensed inspection facility. Safety and Trust Matter As a professional, I recognize inconsistencies and procedural lapses that most customers would likely never catch. But that's exactly the concern -- how many people leave this shop assuming their car is safe, when it might not be? Last week, I let my wife drive this vehicle thinking it had only a minor bulb issue. Turns out, based on the second inspection, it allegedly had major safety faults. I was so disturbed by this experience that I chose not to allow my daughter's vehicle to be inspected at this facility out of genuine concern for her safety. I took my car to Mavis last week to get the New York State inspection. I got there right when they opened at 8am. I told the guy if you guys aren't to busy, you could do my tire rotation too. He said no we aren't busy, we can do that! I'm like okay perfect. Another lady gets there at 8 for a scheduled appt. I got to talking to her and she was getting her winter tires (that were in her car) put on. At least 9:30 she asked the guy if he would be done with her car by 10:45a because she has somewhere to be at 11. (Mind you, BOTH of our cars were still in the parking lot). The guy said yea it should be, and he proceeded to tell her they only have 1 guy that can work on tires because someone called in. There was at least 5 guys working that day. And she asked him if he doesn't think it's going to be then please let her know because she will have to come back. And he said he will let her know but it'll be fine. 5 minutes later, I see them pull her car in. Right afterwards they pull my car in. We can see my car being worked on but not hers since it's towards the end. Meanwhile it's freeezing inside of the waiting area. The lady asked one of the workers if the heat was on and he was very dismissive of her and just rolled his eyes and said it's in. 10:35 rolls around and the lady wanted to pay so she could just jump in her car when it's ready. We saw my car getting worked on so we figured hers would be too since they pulled her car in first and she had an actual appt, I did not. She asks the guy, "so I'm guessing my tires were fine?" And he said "actually we haven't even worked on your car yet it's just sitting there". The lady goes, "you need to pull my car out I have to go. I asked you if you could tell me if you wouldn't have time to work on it and you said yes" with an attitude he goes " sorry were busy" and rolls his eyes. We had both been sitting there for almost 3 hours and nobody came to let us know anything. She leaves and I can hear them talking crap in the garage. Another guy comes in for his shift, he was actually the only nice guy there. Curly hair, with glasses. My car finished and I asked him if he was cold because it was so cold inside. And he looked at the heater and was like "oh my they should've turned the heat on for you"! In my head I'm like wow are you serious? Anyways, I pay and go on my way.. Fast forward to a week later. Ever since I went there something has been rattling or sounds loose underneath my car. I called to let them know and the guy on the phone is just so rude with an attitude. Clearly something was not tightened or put back right and he doesn't even seem like he wants to help. So rather than take my car back there, and after reading all the horrible reviews about this place. I will just take my car to jeep because I no longer trust this place with my car. read more

After speaking with a couple of different places, including different Mavis locations, I spoke to Frank at the number I called to get an estimate at the Mavis in Brewster. I was given a quote of $479.92 plus tax. I made an appointment for that afternoon, and was told it would take about an hour to an hour and a half, and that I would wait. Aside from waiting for over 2 hours, Larry, one of the service desk men told me it would be $660. When I questioned the amount it took 2 phone calls to resolve the issue. My mother brought our car into to get the tire plugged and ended up choosing to buy two tires brand-new the technicians specifically ran through the interior looking for the locking lug nut key, which was specifically in a bag in the glove department without asking. After an hour of waiting, my mother was told that they could not find the lug nut key that was just recently used 15 minutes prior to arriving to the shop and placed in a specific area in the glove. When my mother told the technician that the locking key was in the glove department, the technician asked my mother "in the front or in the back?" you can't make this ish up. Now they have lost the lug nut key all they could do is tell my mother to buy one from the dealer! Total lack of responsibility at the shop this day 10/9/22 2pm do you plan on reimbursing us for $59.50 for a new set of locking lug nuts with key? read more

I put a set of new tires on my wife's ML350. I warned Pete that I was watching to se if they scratched the wheels because of a past incident where my rims were damage and they denied they did it. He said no worries I'll make sure they use the plastic covered tools. I took pictures of all my rims. After they put the tires on all four of her ML350 rims were badly damaged. Then Pete denied that the rims were damaged by them even tho I had photos for proof. I had to contact the police and Mavis main office before they had alloy wheel repair of danbury fix all four wheels. Go anywhere but Mavis period. But they wouldn't be able to get the new tire for 4 days, nowhere around had any, and I couldn't just get one new tire, it would have to be all four. I just purchased these tires approximately 4 months ago. I told them I live about 45 mins from there and I have children so it is imperative that my vehicle is safe. They told me I needed a new cabin filter ( do it yourself for $ 15.....go to YOUTUBE ), that my battery was leaking acid ( it wasn't) and my brakes were bad. I had an oil change and they overfilled it by 1 1/2 quarts, and its leaked all over the engine, driveway, hoses and belts......their ONLY solution was to do it over....NO APOLOGY ! Letter to their owner had a return phone call from Dominick Lambruzzi, who refused to do anything other than offer me a free oil change. Another letter to their owner specifying that Dominick not call me again....guess what he did ? had Dominick call me again ! Got 4 new tires and alignment, had an appointment for 2 and truck wasn't done until almost 5!!! You would think after them milking it for that long they would have done the job correctly right?? Nope next day drove to Long Island start hearing something loose as I'm driving. I go to another mavis shop and they told me that the guys that did the alignment at mavis in Brewster did NOT properly tighten the bolts for tie rods when they did the alignment and that's very dangerous. They tightened the bolts and noise stopped!!! I called main office and complained all they offered was a $50 voucher. I lost 4 hours out of work to get my truck fixed because the guys at Brewster couldn't do a proper job. Will never be going back and I'm trying to get reimbursed for my time I lost from work for dealing with this. Oh and by the way the 2 mavis that I went to in Long Island both said my truck was too heavy for it to go on their lift and kinda was trying to brush me off. But it wasn't too heavy when I brought it in to get new tires and alignment??? Had to call general management for them to call the shop to fix my truck. read more

My spouse and I have been going to this tire place for the past few years, and every time without fail they never have the tires in stock that we request online, they're never done the same day, and they move at a snails place. Bought 4 tires here in April '18, excellent service and pricing. Came back several months later when it was time for a rotation and also because one of the TPMS sensors wasn't working, they replaced it free of charge. Came back on Oct. 19 for another rotation and oil change. Prompt service and the oil change was far cheaper than my last one at Valvoline (where they always try to upsell you on half a dozen other things). Also fixed a puncture free of charge. I drove off the lot and the front tire was falling off, they failed to bolt the tire back on or take it for a test drive to check brake pressure, then Tony was screaming at his workers that he was disgusted with his job and was ready to close the shop. This place is amazing! I usually work on my own cars, but this is one place I let work on mine. I bought tires to have mounted on my new rims, the manager (Peter Mañanas) told me I needed hub centric rings for my wheels and wouldn't mount them without them. What made me trust him is that they don't sell those parts. He let me come back after I found the best price for them. Apparently my wheels would have vibrated a lot without the rings. In addition he let me get better lug nuts, the originals would have ruined the paint, and he showed me. Any other shop would have destroyed my wheels just to turn over the project. Peter wanted to do a good job. Everyone was nice and professional. I'll only buy my tires from this shop. Please don't associate this shop with the Mavis in Carmel... That place is a dump! This passed Friday I made an appointment online for an inspection. Saturday morning I received a call confirming my inspection appointment. I arrived at my appointment time and when I stated my name and appointment time the gentleman behind the counter asked how I was able to get an inspection appointment. I informed him of how I created the appointment on their website and that it was confirmed the next day (two days prior to my appointment). He said there was no inspector there, nevermind that no worker showed up for work that day. He stated he was alone today. He advised I call back the following day to see if an inspector is there. For starters, they couldn't find the part to remove my tires & had to ask me. That's pretty bad, but was easily solved. The worst part is that the person at the counter, Sarah, seems totally untrustworthy. I bought four tires & was told I qualified for a $200 rebate. It turned out to be $50. I double checked this twice with Sarah. I asked if it was $50 per tire. She said yes. I'm not sure if she was being dishonest, not really listening to me, or didn't understand the rebate. Either way it cost me $150. I also asked for specific tires from a list of union-made tires. Sarah assured me--"We have tires that meet that criteria." They didn't. In hindsight, I doubt she even looked at the list. I won't go back. If for some reason you go there, get everything in writing & triple check it. read more

When he got out of the car the wheel was so loose on the car he was lucky the tire didn't fall off the car. I recently experienced my first and last use of Mavis Tire in Brewster, NY. Aside from terrible customer service and a tremendously long wait (many hours) despite my scheduled appointment, Mavis sold me 4 new tires which were priced high however they told me that my purchase qualified for a rebate from Pirelli tires. After verify this twice, we purchased the tires. Within two days of getting the new tires, I had a flat tire on my way to work. I called Mavis to let them know and bring the car back for the tire to be fixed. They were super unhelpful despite having just sold them to me. I had to get my car towed back to Mavis and wait most of the day for it to be fixed while missing an entire day of work. No apology at all. Later that week, I had a second flat tire on the other side of my car while driving with my kids. The 4 tires weren't even a week old / and now TWO flat tires! Once again, I needed to pay for a tow truck to get my car to Mavis. When the car was ready for pick up, the guy working the front register told us that all the tires were originally put on incorrectly/backwards and that was causing all the flats. Wonderful news as I had been driving around my young children in it all week. Again, no apologies for any inconveniences we suffered and no offer to reimburse us for any of the tows or possibly lower the $1,000 charge for the 4 new tires I purchase within that week. Mavis acted as if they did us a favor by fixing their multiple negligent mistakes. To top it off, I just learned this week that we will not be receiving the rebate as initially promised to use by Mavis because the tires that Mavis sold us were not the correct model to qualify for the rebate. I'm beyond angry and frustrated with this experience. Absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had. We will NEVER use Mavis again. I like this Mavis location the best because the staff are very accommodating and can always fit you in to the schedule and meet your needs. I recently came in for new tires and an oil change and dealt with Tony l. He helped me make a good decision on 4 new quality tires that fit perfectly in my budget and I even got a rebate! They are true professionals that communicate well and don't try to add on services or sell you extra stuff that you don't need. I brought it in at 11am, it took until 6pm to get TWO TIRES replaced. The tires had to be shipped from another store and did not get there until 4:30pm... they seem to operate their entire business on the idea that everyone is able to leave their car for an entire day or overnight.. when i asked about the status of the tires, i got a snippy response and I am positive that my car was purposely delayed and done last. 7 HOURS FOR TWO TIRES.
